And they did it. And that should be celebrated enthusiastically and without qualifications. They had the nearly perfect jersey launch with the "Community Kit." And we're going to talk about all the good and just a little bit of bad. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou will break down the incredible insanity surrounding the Galaxy's most successful kit launch ever while also throwing in some other minor news-nuggets about your favorite team. Josh and Sophie will start with some of their general feelings about the optimism that is building up about actually getting back in the stadium for the 2021 season, while also doing their best to realize most of that is misplaced. Then they'll talk about the Galaxy players that will be embarking on their Olympic qualifying dreams as CONCACAF gets in on the U-23-style tournament for a chance at going to Japan this summer -- if there are Olympics this summer. Will Efrain Alvarez find himself in a tug-of-war between the United States and Mexico? Will that even matter? And why Julian Araujo seems like the best bet to get the job done for the United States. Plus, that conversation will morph into looking at some of the big-name players and why they'll be feeling the pressure in 2021! But the central portion of the show revolves around the events and happening of Wednesday's kit launch. There are some incredibly nerdy details that Josh focuses on, and Sophie asks when the Galaxy are going to sell those socks! See, the kit probably means different things to different people, but the launch, the videos, and the design itself took our mind off of a global pandemic for a couple of minutes, and that's a well-needed mental break. We've got a fun show with some good talking points and two hosts who were probably tipsy from all the water they drank! So come and join us! We're ready for you!

Arsène? Who could ever forget him. Yet in September 1996 Arsène Charles Ernest Wenger was a relative unknown in the UK when he left Nagoya Grampus Eight in Japan to take charge of Arsenal. Gary, Rob and Mike discuss his early impact at the club, from broccoli to booze restrictions and how boring, boring Arsenal would eventually become breathtaking. We then take in the early part of their 1997-98 season, where Denis Bergkamp was on fire and Ian Wright broke the club scoring record. Don’t be too put off though, Spurs fans: the episode kicks off with us taking more care of Steve Archibald by inducting him into our Underrated Hall of Fame. On today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard, Japanese football journalist Shinobu Yamanaka joins us to discuss a landmark match for his nation at the 2010 World Cup! Japan took the most talented squad they had ever assembled to the previous World Cup in Germany, but didn’t win a match and finished bottom of their group. They returned to the world stage in South Africa and seized their chance to qualify for the Round of 16 with an impressive win over Denmark. We discuss the Japanese public’s perception of this team after their courageous performance, the wizardry of Keisuke Honda and the bewitching - and infuriating - behaviour of that bloody Jabulani football. Yet more scenes so unbelievable that we all need to accept that this World Cup is crazy as Belgium come from two down to beat a spirited Japan, with super subs Marouane Fellaini and Nacer Chadli. Prior to the game a hitherto successful psychic octopus was killed in Japan. Makes you think. Alongside this there’s time to look over Neymar’s theatrics, Brazil’s stoic professionalism and we of course take the opportunity to look ahead to England vs Colombia, and even a little further, as we get a little carried away while we have the chance. So, there’s no football today. It’s so weird. However, nature abhors a vacuum so we’ve got a podcast full of it anyway. We look back over England and Belgium’s strange, somewhat empty battle for top/second spot, Japan’s self-flagellation regarding their slightly ironic qualification via fair play and bid a fond farewell to some of the characters we’ll miss from a brilliant World Cup group stage. On top of all this we also have an update on the various Marci who are still in the competition, plot England’s route to glory and turn our attention to the last 16. Welcome to the first of a new regular preview podcast we'll be recording for your aural delight this season, as we look forward to First Kick on Sunday as Vancouver Whitecaps host Montreal Impact at B.C. Place. Now one of the reasons we have such a big team here at AFTN is that we like to have a variety of voices and opinions covering the 'Caps and MLS. It keeps the site fresh and vibrant, and we decided to add a second weekly podcast to the mix hosted by three of our team - Joe Deasy, Gideon Hill, and Nicolaas Rupprecht. Look at it as the NWO Hollywood and Wolfpack from the old World Championship Wrestling days, or the Bullet Club currently in Ring of Honor and New Japan. Anyway, I digress. It's their show, with their ideas and segments, and will act as a great companion pod for our Sunday show on CiTR Radio. This first episode takes a look back at what we can possibly learn from the 'Caps preseason, what the team may look like on Sunday, and casts it's eye over Montreal. What they will bring and should they be feared? There's fun, there's games, and a special guest too as Michael sits down for a chat with the newest Whitecap, midfielder Jordon Mutch. There's a little bit of a tinny sound to this episode due to the need to have to clean out some background hum, but hopefully it doesn't spoil your enjoyment too much. Have a listen! Here's the full episode rundown of the main segments from the show:02.20: Whitecaps preseason review17.10: Do You Know Who I Am?19.49: Jordon Mutch interview30.21: Vancouver v Montreal preview

Masato Kudo, Gershon Koffie, Russell Teibert, Jordan Harvey and Carl Robinson talk from Whitecaps preseason camp and journalist Dan Orlowitz joins us from Japan.

Another Vancouver Whitecaps themed World Cup special. Jay DeMerit, Andy O'Brien, Carl Robinson and Bobby Lenarduzzi share their World Cup memories as players and fans. Plus we hear audio from the Caps as they head back to training and more World Cup songs.
