Super Sunday | Almiron winner boosts Newcastle’s top-four hopes | Hasselbaink: ‘Pope was extremely lucky to avoid red card’

Dave Jones presents Super Sunday alongside Jamie Redknapp and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who watched Newcastle beat Wolves 2-1 at St. James’ Park to boost their hopes of a top-four finish after substitute Miguel Almiron scored the winner late on. There was a controversial moment early in the first half when Newcastle’s Nick Pope avoided giving away a penalty which would have also seen him receive a red card. Hasselbaink said the goalkeeper was ‘extremely lucky’ to get away with the decision and did not understand why VAR did not intervene. There is also reaction from Newcastle captain Kieran Trippier and man of the match Alexander Isak. Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui also gives his post-match thoughts as well as Eddie Howe who hopes the win re-ignites their push for a European place at the end of the season. The trio also review the rest of the weekend’s results including Bournemouth’s surprise win against Liverpool, Manchester City’s narrow victory away to Crystal Palace and Arsenal’s comprehensive 3-0 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Jamie Redknapp feels Arsenal deserve so much credit for maintaining their title push and said that if the Gunners do win the league, it will go down as one of the best Premier League achievements. It was a nothing-nothing result

Marcus, Luke and Pete couldn't construct any clear-cut chances in the studio, so we've left the mics on and Jack Grealish is going to have a go. England's underwhelming performance contrasted with an impressive Scottish effort, who now have a good chance of qualifying after last night's draw. We also check in on the striking exploits of Patrik Schick and Alexander Isak, two forwards who will no doubt terrorise England later in the tournament. Slovakia overcome Poland who continue to struggle for goals at major tournaments, even with Lewandowski. France face Germany on Tuesday – with the Mbappe Giroud spat stealing focus, is there a chance Les Bleus could implode? And Hungary will face Portugal in front of 60,000 fans in Budapest.
