Shock Defeat For Real Madrid Hands Top Spot To Barcelona

Real Madrid missed the chance to go five points clear as they fell to a shock 2-1 defeat at Osasuna, their first league loss under Alvaro Arbeloa in six games. We look at an encouraging display from Trent Alexander-Arnold off the bench, Vinicius Jr's continued scoring run, and whether the defending champions can respond after surrendering top spot. Barcelona took full advantage, returning to the top with a convincing 3-0 win over Levante. We discuss Frenkie de Jong's first goal in 13 months and what this means for the title race with just 13 games to go. Atletico Madrid bounced back from their recent poor run with a 4-2 win over Espanyol. Ademola Lookman continued his flying start with four goals in six games. We ask if this can be the springboard for a consistent run from Diego Simeone's side. Join The Players Lounge: The official fantasy football club of The Rest Is Football. Manchester City win at Anfield on a Super Sunday that got silly

Apologies for the late show today, but we’re finally here to chat all about another big weekend in the Premier League title race, which saw Manchester City come from behind to win away at Liverpool, for only the second time under Pep Guardiola. After shout outs for the WSL, PSG v Marseille and a few other results (04:21), Musa and Ryan head to Anfield (11:23), which saw another unbelievable free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai give Liverpool the lead, a great comeback and the world being cruelly robbed of one of the silliest goals of the modern era. That meant the gap was the same at the top as before the weekend, following Arsenal’s impressive 3-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday (30:52). Elsewhere, Aston Villa dropped more points, Manchester United may never lose again, Crystal Palace ended their winless streak and Cole Palmer scored another first half hat-trick. In Germany, Bayern and Dortmund teased a title race (48:13) and St. Pauli got a much needed win. Finally, there’s a round-up of La Liga and a bit of chat about Ademola Lookman’s move to Atlético Madrid (53:12). A reminder: Southbank Centre live show! March 1st! With special guest Nish Kumar! And then we talk transfers including Marc Guehi, Antoine Semenyo and Ademola Lookman, which leads naturally into a discussion of private equity in football.
