Latest News (98)
It's a Europa League Final Clash of the Correspondents as James is joined by Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders and Manchester United fan Gary Robinson to discuss the season's two biggest disappointments, yet one is about to claim glory! United will be favourites, is that right? What would victory mean? There's discussion on tactics, if Heung-Min Son may end up as Tottenham's number 10 option in the absence of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, and if United could play without a recognised striker. And at what point does Ruben Amorim find himself under pressure if it goes wrong for United? And can victory even save Ange Postecoglu? After the simply marvellous scenes at Goodison Park this week, some fun sponges had the audacity to say that the Everton players and fans went 'too far' with their celebrations. Now, it's not the first time we've heard that in recent times. Myles Lewis-Skelly ruffled a few feathers after copying Erling Haaland's celebration, and Paul Scholes called Neal Maupay an "idiot" for copying James Maddison's darts celebration. Marcus, Luke & Vish have their say on that, plus we find out their choice of Mario Kart characters. It's not one to miss. We’re going on tour! Get your tickets now: https://footballramblelive.com. Liverpool will be four points clear at the top of the Premier League on Christmas Day after a dominant 6-3 victory away at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Headers from Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister put the Reds two goals up after 36 minutes, before James Maddison pulled one back. Dominik Szoboszlai added the visitors' third in first-half stoppage time and was then joined on the scoresheet by Mohamed Salah, who converted twice following the interval. Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke netted what proved to be consolations as Diaz completed the scoring to see Arne Slot's side take advantage of second-placed Chelsea dropping points earlier in the day. Coming up in this podcast Arne Slot and Ryan Gravenberch give us their thoughts on the breathless encounter in the capital. Former Red Former Phil Thompson and current LFC Women defender Gemma Bonner joined Rob Jones in the studio for LFCTV's post-match show, whilst Nigel Spackman gave his analysis of the game from down at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. We also received contributions throughout the podcast from local fans Si Steers and Abigail Rudkin and from over in the US, Michael Crump from the Official LFC Supporters Club in Atlanta.

Musa and Ryan begin with Spurs’ incredibly impressive 4-0 win over Man City at the Etihad Stadium, thanks to a James Maddison brace (02:33), which extended Pep Guardiola’s side’s run to five defeats in a row. They they round up some other Premier League results, including Arsenal’s win over Forest (22:24), Chelsea beating Leicester, which cost Steve Cooper his job, Liverpool extending their lead at the top, Brighton’s best ever start to a Premier League season and Ruben Amorim’s first match in charge at Manchester United (33:45)! There’s also a quick dart around some other leagues, including Real Madrid closing the gap on Barcelona, wins for Bayern and Dortmund ahead of next week’s Klassiker and more. Kelly Cates presents Super Sunday from Old Trafford and is joined by Jamie Redknapp, Darren Bent and Ashley Young who watched Tottenham comprehensively beat Manchester United 3-0. Gary Neville watched from the gantry as Spurs impressed and outclassed their opponents from the very start but United aided them with a lacklustre performance. Neville labelled the display as a ‘shocking and sobering day’ for the club. Redknapp agreed and believes Man United’s progression is going backwards, going on to say that ‘they’re at rock bottom at the moment’. The hosts' task was made even more difficult when Bruno Fernandes was dismissed for a high challenge on James Maddison minutes before half-time. The Red Devils captain spoke after the match and felt the tackle did not warrant a red card by referee Chris Kavanagh but admitted that he had let his teammates down. There is also reaction from goalscorer Brennan Johnson and player of the match Micky van de Ven, as well as both managers. Ange Postecoglou hailed his players’ performance, saying that they were a ‘joy to watch’. In contrast, Erik ten Hag conceded that Tottenham were the dominant side and his team were poor in possession. The United manager also avoided questions on whether the club is moving forward under his leadership, saying that 'it is not the time to talk about progression after such a defeat'. James is joined by fellow Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders to discuss all things Tottenham and begin by asking if the target for the season ahead must be qualification back into The Champions League. Rumours would suggest that the club may be about to make a push to sign Bournemouth's Dominic Solanke, would he be the right fit and how interested should FPL managers have in him if the move happens? And what would it mean for the future of Richarlison? There are three players in the midfield bracket at 6.5 and their prospects are assessed, James Maddison's form remains a concern, Heung-Min Son is a powerful differential who the majority are currently overlooking and Tottenham may have the most exciting 4.5 midfielder in Lucas Bergvall. Plus, there's coverage of the brilliant youngsters in the Tottenham squad who may break into the first team this season, the backline is likely to look familiar and both Ricky and James are in agreement on the one Tottenham player they have to have in FPL. Did you know that if you’re a Tottenham player you can punch a Nottingham Forest player on a Sunday afternoon without punishment? Today Marcus, Luke and Jim applaud James Maddison’s knowledge and application of that rule this weekend. Elsewhere, Luke compares Man United vs Liverpool to Pulp Fiction and Jim dismisses James Ward-Prowse scoring from a corner because it was “wind-assisted”. Are Spurs actually better without Harry Kane? ... Of course not, but new manager Ange Postecoglu's personality and James Maddison's 'swagger' are certainly helping the club move on. Today, Ayo Akinwolere is joined by The Athletic's Tottenham writer Charlie Eccleshare and data writer Thom Harris, to discuss their fast start to the season - as well as - to urge a little caution after just four Premier League matches. How James Maddison became the new 'technical leader', why Big Ange is the perfect manager for Richarlison right now, why Bissouma and Romero feel like new signings, the stark contrast to last season under Antonio Conte and why it's so difficult to replace a talismanic figure like Kane.
