Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe analyze the biggest talking points from Matchweek 6 in the Premier League
On the opening of Clash of the Correspondents for 2024/25 James is joined by Wolves fan Bradley Parker and Chelsea fan Gary Mantle to discuss current matters and FPL assets at their clubs ahead of Sunday's meeting at Molineux. As the closure of the transfer window approaches both clubs are in very different positions. Despite recouping close to £100m after the sales of Max Kilman and Pedro Neto (to Chelsea) the club reportedly only have £20m to invest; whilst at Chelsea the spending continues and more can be expected before the transfer window shuts, but the club is trying to sell several players with up to 15 reportedly told they don't have a future at the club and that includes Raheem Sterling. There's discussion on what Chelsea can expect from Neto and what may now be their strongest line-up and where Wolves may look to spend what is available to improve their current squad. Plus, FPL discussions feature a strong interest in Chelsea assets with a good fixture list on the horizon. The Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer debate is re-evaluated and if they can be trusted defensively to invest. But The Blues recent record at Wolves is not good, and might the best FPL investment defensively from the two clubs be in the home side? The Final Day of Correspondent Week kicks off with Gary Mantle joining James to discuss FPL assets and expectations for Chelsea under new manager Enzo Maresca and a period that should be full of enthusiasm has quickly evaporated due to some chaotic performances in pre-season and further strange transfer dealings. There's conversation on Maresca's intended tactics, what's been going wrong and there's an analysis of the transfer business which continues to leave many Chelsea fans concerned. Plus, Cole Palmer has received the highest ever price rise in FPL after finishing last season as the top points scorer. but currently there are many questions mark as to where exactly he will play in the new system. Therefore should a 4.0 saving be made by investing in Christopher Nkunku? And there's a run through of the squad to see if there are any more FPL assets to consider such as one of the 4.5 defenders, Noni Madueke, or a refreshed Raheem Sterling. But predicting the starting eleven for Gameweek 1 proves a very difficult challenge. At least the fixtures are good... or are they...? Cole Palmer has been given the highest ever increase in price coming in at 10.5 but will remain a popular option. There's a run through of the player prices known so far, running from the premiums down to the budget enablers, discussing the players that stand out at each price point, which includes the one player James is very confident that he'll start with subject to fitness.
