Not such good news for Erik ten Hag’s Leverkusen though - beaten 2-1 by Hoffenheim at the BayArena. In Ligue 1, despite the chaos off the field Marseille found some unity on it to beat Paris FC 5-2 at the Vélodrome, while PSG recorded another narrow 1-0 win as their underwhelming performances continued. Olivier Giroud stole the headlines with a 91st minute winner for Lille against Monaco - the 350th goal of his professional career! Over in La Liga, there was late drama as Barcelona fought back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Levante. Meanwhile Real Madrid made it two wins from two themselves in far more comfortable circumstances at newly promoted Real Oviedo.
