Last week we took our first MSC road trip to visit Richie Ryan at FC Cincinnati Academy. Richie has a fascinating football journey, coming through Sunderland's academy system and then making his first team debut in the big derby game with bitter rivals, Newcastle United. After stops in Belgium, League of Ireland and the US, Richie recently moved onto the coaching side of the game working at FC Tulsa (USL) and now at FC Cincinnati. In the interview, we speak to Richie about the environment at FC Cincinnati, the support that players need in the modern game, plus his unique experience playing under Alessandro Nesta!
Suj and James have an open discussion about the 6 highest priced midfielders in FPL; Mo Salah, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden with the aim of ascertaining which of them is desired most in the immediate upcoming fixtures and then in the longer-term from the fixture swing in Gameweek 12. There's a look at the data so far this season, the fixtures, the explosive capabilities of the players and how many is the right number to have, the danger of having only one and cutting yourself off of others and how having as many as three can allow you flexibility to move budget around. But having only two, and certainly three, would make it very difficult to hold Erling Haaland moving forward. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Wolves fan Bradley Parker and Manchester City fan Jonny Pringle to discuss the latest at their clubs and the FPL assets from within ahead of Sunday's Gameweek 8 meeting at Molineux. It's one point from seven for Wolves and the, pressure is mounting on Gary O'Neil, but have they really been as bad as the results suggest? For City, much of discourse recently has surrounded Pep Guardiola's future, but whether he stays on beyond this season or not, the immediate conundrum is finding solutions to replace the irreplaceable Rodri. Plus, FPL chat includes discussion on Erling Haaland and whether one of the upcoming fixtures (Southampton follows Wolves) look good enough to deploy the Triple Captaincy Chip. And Rico Lewis v Josko Gvardiol is discussed, if FPL managers should take a punt on Phil Foden with enticing fixtures but with Kevin De Bruyne close to a return; while Wolves assets are set appeal too with a brilliant turn of fixtures on the horizon, Ryan Ait-Nouri will attract interest and so to might attackers Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen.
