It's time for The Truth! Sam and Dougie are back in the studio to take a look at the big debate that's beginning to rage on social media, that of who is going to be awarded Player of the Season this year in the Premier League? The boys walk through each of the candidates, ranking them on where they would have placed them in the rankings if they were given the keys to the castle - and helping Sam to select who he is going to write down on that little piece of paper when the voting opens this season. We discuss Arsenal's duo of Gabriel Magalhães and Declan Rice, Brentford's Igor Thiago, Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Antoine Semenyo, Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes and Liverpool's Dominik Szoboslai and try to find some order in the chaos. After the Premier League, we take a spin round the rest of Europe's Top Five, picking out our Player of the Season and a few honourable mentions for each of La Liga, the Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1. So, is there one correct answer? Do you judge this on individual brilliance or the most important component of a team winning silverware? As ever, The Truth is somewhere in the middle... And remember, if you’d like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon? The top 4 all won in Germany and in Spain, TAA is back and got an assist as Real beat Sociedad 4-1 to make it 8 wins in a row. Plus Vermut/Vermouth and Pol's Barca 'sauce'. The Derby d’Italia this weekend felt crucial in the race for this year’s Scudetto. Musa and Ryan chat about Inter leaving it late to beat Juventus (05:03), who were down to ten for the entire second half at San Siro, after a very controversial second yellow for Pierre Kalulu. It took a brilliant winner from Piotr Zieliński to win the game and send Inter eight points clear of the top, thanks to Napoli’s draw with Roma. In the middle of all that, there’s a big detour about manager’s first touches and player showboating (17:39), before chatting about Igor Tudor becoming the Tottenham Hotspur men’s interim head coach (34:53). Finally, there’s a round-up (45:33) featuring La Liga, Bundesliga, FA Cup, a rare case of a spiritually onside goal actually counting and Mo Salah doing his bit for content. Jimbo is joined by James Horncastle, Pol Ballus, Seb Stafford-Bloor and Tom Williams to discuss the latest European football. The Champions League reaches its final game showdown with all 36 teams playing simultaneously on Wednesday night. Might all 6 English teams make the top 8? If so, will Barcelona and Inter face the play offs? Could Conte's Napoli be heading out? Could Bodø/Glimt, Brugge or Mourinho's Benfica sneak in? Bayern finally lose their first match of the Bundesliga season at home to Augsburg, whilst Dortmund beat Union convincingly ahead of their showdown with Inter. It was a perfect weekend for Chivu's Inter who beat Pisa 6-2 whilst title rivals Napoli were thrashed 3-0 by Juve, with Roma and Milan sharing the points in the capital. In Spain, Mbappe's Panenka helped him set a European record, and Yamal's worldie in the rain kept Barca 1 point above Real in the La Liga title race. And in France, PSG go back on top via a Bradley Barcola goal and a 1-0 win at Auxerre, with Lens losing 3-1 in the Velodrome thanks to a debut goal from Arsenal's teenage loanee Ethan Nwaneri. Produced by Lucy Oliva and Jesse Howard. It was the Stadio derby this weekend, with Manchester United beating Arsenal in the league at the Emirates for the first time since 2017. Musa and Ryan chat about a game that continued the good vibes around Michael Carrick's appointment, following up last week’s Manchester derby victory, thanks to two unbelievable goals from Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha (03:27). They also look at it from the Arsenal perspective, their attacking issues and the differences between the recent league and cup performances. It meant Aston Villa and Manchester City closed the gap to their wins, so there’s chat about those games as well as the rest of the results (32:11), including a late winner for Bournemouth over Liverpool, another West Ham win and more as the Premier League grind continues. Then it’s off to Europe (53:32), where Bayern lost for the first time in the Bundesliga this season thanks to a 1-2 defeat to Augsburg, Inter opened up a gap in Serie A, PSG went top of Ligue 1 and wins for Barcelona, Real Madrid and much more! London listeners, don't forget to get tickets for our next show at the Southbank Centre on March 1st, with special guest Nish Kumar. They're available here. Harry Kane explains why Bayern Munich’s shock defeat to Augsburg Pulse Sports Nigeria

Jimbo’s got European football friends Pol Ballús, James Horncastle, Seb Stafford-Bloor and Tom Williams alongside him as the Champions League re-enters the room… We start with those midweek UCL MD7 ties - including the tight battle for a top eight finish with the likes of Tottenham v Dortmund, Marseille v Liverpool and Juventus v Benfica looking finely poised. In Serie A, there were tributes to Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso - who passed away on Saturday but left a huge legacy in not only Florence but across the Italian sporting landscape. La Viola honoured him by beating Bologna 2-1 on Sunday to move out of the bottom three. Over in La Liga, the gap’s been cut to just one point! That’s after Barcelona’s 11-game winning streak was ended by a 2-1 defeat at Real Sociedad. Real Madrid took advantage, beating Levante 2-0 amid a backdrop of boos, whistles and protests in the Spanish capital… Meanwhile in the Bundesliga, Bayern became the first team in Europe’s top 5 leagues to score 100 goals in all competitions this season as they came from behind to beat Leipzig 5-1 thanks to a second half masterclass from Michael Olise. Plus, what next for Frankfurt after Dino Topmoller was sacked after their latest 3-3 draw? And over in France - Lens are *still* top of the table thanks to a club-record eight straight Ligue 1 wins. PSG stay a point behind after their 3-0 win over Lille - which featured one of the goals of the season from Ousmane Dembele. All that plus pinchos, personalised apps - and poor ratings! Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend - and foodie endeavours (00.45) • PART 2: Champions League MD7 key fixtures (12.45) • PART 3: Serie A review - Farewell to Rocco Commisso (27.30) • PART 4: La Liga review - Suddenly all to play for at the top (45.05) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Olise’s masterclass and Frankfurt call time on Dino (45.05) • PART 6: Ligue 1 review - Lens just keep winning (48.15) Take part in our audience survey for a chance to win an $/£100 Amazon voucher! Jimbo’s joined by Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús & James Horncastle for a deep-dive into all the latest action and headlines from across the continent. There’s only one place to start - and the news that broke late on Monday afternoon that Xabi Alonso has been sacked as Real Madrid head coach - and replaced by the club’s reserve team coach Alvaro Arbeloa. The Athletic’s Guillermo Rai joins us for the immediate reaction to the news which followed the 3-2 defeat by dear friends Barcelona in the Supercopa on Sunday evening. There’s drama of a title race variety in Italy - where the hunt for the Scudetto was reignited once again as Inter, Milan and Napoli all dropped points to open the door for chasers Roma and Juventus. And in Germany - the Bundesliga returned from the Winterpause in style with goals galore across the weekend including Bayern putting EIGHT past Wolfsburg, while Frankfurt and Dortmund played out a 3-3 thriller on Friday night. Vincent Kompany’s side couldn’t win the title by a record-breaking points margin, could they? All that plus the latest from the Coupe de France as Endrick marks his debut for Lyon with a winning goal, reminiscing on the ‘Mohawk Trident’ - and dramatic snowscapes in Hamburg. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend - pencils, dodgy banners and fairytale ascents (00.45) • PART 2: La Liga review - Alonso out! Arbeloa in! With Guillermo Rai (12.45) • PART 3: Serie A review - Yet another title race turn (27.30) • PART 4: Ligue 1 review - Endrick’s goal on debut and tapestries… (45.05) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Bayern’s total dominance and intriguing Kovac (48.15) Hosted on Acast. Some clichés are clichés for a reason and, this weekend, the magic of the FA cup truly lived up to it. But before that, Musa and Ryan begin episode 600 (!!!) with a round-up of the Bundesliga’s return (02:59), the AFCON quarter-finals (06:23), Inter and Napoli’s 2-2 draw (10:53), plus Barcelona’s win over Real Madrid in the Supercopa de España. Then, it’s onto the FA Cup third round, starting with Macclesfield’s incredible win to knock holders Crystal Palace out (15:35), plus some other key results, Manchester United’s defeat to Brighton and some flowers for Danny Welbeck (26:38). Then, there’s a bit of a conversation about the FA Cup’s continued revival in an ever increasing football calendar. Tickets for our second live show at London's Southbank Centre are on sale now! Jimbo’s got helpers James Horncastle, Seb Stafford-Bloor & Pol Ballús alongside him for some pre-Christmas cheer of a European variety. We begin in La Liga, where it’s as you were at the top of the table with Barca navigating the tricky trip to Villarreal to come away with all three points to keep their advantage at the top of the table. Real’s win over Sevilla helps ease the pressure on Xabi Alonso - but is Vini Jr’s future in more serious doubt? The shock scoreline across the continent was perhaps recorded in Florence, where having gone 210 days without a Serie A win - Fiorentina only went and put five past Udinese! Plus, Lois Openda ended his Juve goalscoring drought in their win over Roma to make things even tighter at the top. We touch base with events in France, Portugal, Turkey and the Netherlands - including the mounting troubles for Robin van Persie, Coupe de France storylines and lone Portuguese superfans! And in Germany - Bayern Munich continued their remarkable form with a 4-0 thrashing of Heidenheim - featuring Harry Kane’s 100th goal involvement in record quick time. Is the sky the limit for Vincent Kompany’s side this season? Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: La Liga review - Mbappe equals CR7 as Barca pass Villarreal test (07.15) • PART 3: Serie A review - Fiorentina win a game… no, seriously! Jimbo’s got the Euro crew alongside him for a dive into the wild and wonderful world of football from across the continent… We start in Italy, where the title race took yet more twists and turns as Milan and Napoli both dropped points to allow Inter to take top spot. Plus - Fiorentina’s plight deepens after their latest defeat leaves them eight points from safety in Serie A. Over in Germany, Bayern had a scare as they were staring down the barrel of defeat to bottom of the table Mainz, before - of course - Harry Kane stepped up to convert a penalty and take a point back to Munich… and somehow still manage to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table! And in La Liga - Real Madrid picked up a precious three points at Alaves with Xabi Alonso’s job reportedly on the line. But Barcelona stay four points clear after Raphinha’s double made it seven wins in a row for the league leaders. All that plus ground-hopping recommendations, favourite insults, private emails - and emotional goodbyes. Produced by Lucy Oliva. A little later than usual, but recorded just before the wild Manchester United v Bournemouth game (sorry!), Musa and Ryan quickly round-up some big results from the weekend around Europe (03:24), including the Premier League, Real Madrid getting back to winning ways, St. Pauli getting their first Bundesliga since September and much more. Then it’s onto the trip from this weekend (17:11), where they visited Venezia for their win over Monza and then San Siro for Milan’s draw against Sassuolo. It was the first time that Musa and Ryan had visited both the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo and San Siro, so they chat about the uniqueness of both, the contrasting surroundings and how overwhelming it can be to visit an iconic stadium for the first time. Jimbo’s joined by the Euro crew as James Horncastle, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens assemble for our weekly slice of continental action. We begin in La Liga, where Real Madrid continue to falter - held to their third consecutive draw, this time at the hands of Girona. Barca managed to take advantage and reclaim top stop after their 3-1 win over Alaves - but there’s just a point between each of the top four as the title race hots up! In France, Paul Pogba’s Monaco toppled PSG! But Marseille also managed to drop points! So it’s Lens who go top of the table! For the first time since 2004! Over in Italy, Milan continued their remarkable record against Serie A’s big boys in their 1-0 win over Lazio. It means they’re top of the league - but only on goal difference after Napoli’s narrow 1-0 win at Roma on Sunday night. Plus, the sorry tale of Fiorentina’s winless campaign. And in the Bundesliga, Bayern need TWO stoppage time goals to get the better of lowly St Pauli, stretching their lead at the summit to eight points - while Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira bagged a 94th minute winner of his own to help Hamburg get the better of Stuttgart. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.40) • PART 2: La Liga review - Barca go top as Real’s wobble continues (13.35) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Lens take advantage as PSG & Marseille falter (26.50) • PART 4: Serie A review - Milan go top as Napoli get back on track (36.00) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Dortmund climbing and Sandro Wagner sacked (52.05) Hosted on Acast. Jimbo beams in Seb-Stafford Bloor from Hamburg and James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Pol Ballús in the studio (!) for a latest dose of European and poultry-based chitchat ahead of MD5 in the Champions League. It’s a midweek full of fascinating ties with Arsenal hosting Bayern, Chelsea welcoming Barca - and PSG taking on Tottenham (again) as we enter the latter stages of the league phase. We’ve got all the usual tales from across the leagues, including Marseille purring in Ligue 1 ahead of the visit of Newcastle on Tuesday night - as they put five past Nice in unkind fashion on Friday night. In Germany, Bayern gave Freiburg a two-goal head start but still managed to win 6-2, with Michael Olise turning on the style as he prepares to face former Palace teammate Eberechi Eze on Wednesday evening… The Serie A title race shows no sign of letting up as it was Milan who took the bragging rights in the Derby della Madonnina - but it’s Roma who lead the way at the top of the table as Evan Ferguson finally opened his account! While in Spain, there’s signs of discontent at Real Madrid as they dropped yet more points, this time at newly promoted Elche - and that’s before the news that Vini Jr and Xavi Alonso aren’t too chummy… more on that later in the week! Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Hellos, degrees - and moments of the weekend - (00.45) • PART 2: UCL MD5 key ties/ Ligue 1 review - João Neves = goal machine (11.10) • PART 3: More UCL fun/ Bundesliga review - Karl & Olise shine for Bayern (23.45) • PART 4: Serie A review - Milan is red and Bologna are great (40.00) • PART 5: La Liga review - Real drop more points as Antony sees red (53.00) Hosted on Acast. Sanjay sits down with Joe at the team hotel in Tampa on Monday afternoon, to discuss his nearly 10,000 Bundesliga minutes of experience, how things have changed under Poch, who from the team he would trust the least to run the family business in Lake Grove, and much more. It's a fast but substantive interview.

Jimbo’s got Pol Ballús, James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Seb Stafford-Bloor all along for the rollercoaster ride through the weekend’s action across the continent. We kick things off in France, where PSG have João Neves to thank for their two-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table after his 95th minute winner against Lyon. But chasers Lens and Marseille had wins of their own to keep the pressure on Luis Enrique’s side. In the Bundesliga - Bayern didn’t win a game! But neither did Leipzig or Dortmund, meaning Vincent Kompany’s men have actually extended their lead at the top of the table to six points despite the 2-2 draw at Union Berlin. In Spain, Real Madrid were lucky to come away from Rayo Vallecano with a point - which Barcelona took full advantage of in their 4-2 win at Celta Vigo, featuring a hat-trick from 37-year-old Robert Lewandowski. A special guest joins us from Vigo… nothing to do with Nando’s…. And in Serie A, are we seeing a repeat of Napoli’s last title defence?! Antonio Conte made some… interesting comments after his side were beaten 2-0 by Bologna to fall behind Inter and Roma at the top of the table. Plus - what’s going on at Ajax?! Dutch football expert Michiel Jongsma joins us to explain some of the fun and games in the Eredivisie - and whether a certain ten Hag might be making a return… Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Ligue 1 review - PSG’s late winner and billionaire v billionaire (07.45) • PART 3: Bundesliga review - does no one want to stop Bayern? (20.35) • PART 4: Eredivisie review - Ajax’s latest crisis & RvP at Feyenoord (30.15) • PART 5: La Liga review - Barca’s new Camp Nou - plus a Messi return?! Jimbo, Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle are all aboard for your latest Euro Edition - with a pretty mouthwatering MD4 upon us in the Champions League. We begin with some of those key midweek battles including yet another showdown between PSG and Bayern, the Trent/ Alonso Derby as Real Madrid head back to Anfield - and the meeting of minds as Marseille v Atalanta pits Roberto De Zerbi against Ivan Jurić. Domestically, in Serie A Luciano Spalletti began life as Juve manager with a 2-1 win at Cremonese - and he’s not shy about their title ambitions this season, just four points behind Napoli in top spot. Real Madrid maintained their commanding position at the top of the La Liga table - but are things all as they seem behind the scenes under Xabi Alonso’s management? After a peculiar round of results in midweek PSG got back to winning ways and are two points clear at the top of Ligue 1 - while Monaco tasted defeat for the first time under Sébastien Pocognoli. And in the Bundesliga - there’s questions around Dortmund’s identity under Niko Kovač - and what the expectations are for Bayer Leverkusen as they were outclassed by a seemingly unstoppable Bayern. Plus - the ongoing Nando’s animosity continues - and garlic bread is added to the equation… Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Champions League MD4 standout fixtures (11.20) • PART 3: Serie A review - Spalletti’s bright start and Napoli’s big week (21.10) • PART 4: La Liga review - Unrest at Madrid despite near perfect start? Jimbo’s got James Horncastle with him in the studio and Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens in far flung corners of Germany and Spain for your weekly round up of European footballing fun. There’s only one place to start - and that’s with events at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday afternoon as Real put an end to Barca’s recent Clásico dominance in typically tempestuous and dramatic fashion. Over in Italy, it was eight games without a win too many for Igor Tudor - dismissed by Juventus after their 1-0 defeat at Lazio. Meanwhile, Napoli went back top but lost KDB in bizarre circumstances - and back-flipping Jamie Vardy opened his Cremonese account! In a shock twist of fate Harry Kane *didn’t* score for Bayern Munich this weekend, but it didn’t matter as they made it 13 wins from 13 games in all competitions in their 3-0 victory at Gladbach. Closest challengers Leipzig continued their sensational form as they put six past Augsburg. And in Ligue 1, PSG are back on top thanks to their 3-0 win at Brest - taking full advantage of the defeat handed out to Marseille by high-flying Lens who are now up to second in the table! All that plus - cancelled holidays in Miami, unsightly gestures and plenty of ill-tempered confrontations. Produced by Lucy Oliva.
