Unexpected Sutton, diags on MOTD & the “good time to play them” threshold

Adam Hurrey is joined on the Adjudication Panel by Charlie Eccleshare and David Walker. On the agenda: Cole Palmer's perfect Panenka, the latest breach of Match of the Day protocol, the minor media obsession with getting managers to admit their team is in the title race, obscure mid-90s Spurs midfielders in Netflix comedies and the dream scenario for fans ridiculing the opposition goalkeeper's goal kicks. Meanwhile, the panel weigh up the Club World Cup’s group of death and pick apart the “good time to play them” theory. Could This Be Atalanta's Year? Plus Spurs Vs. Chelsea Chaos and Dan Ashworth Leaves Man Utd.

Musa and Ryan begin with a quick shout for LA Galaxy’s first MLS Cups in 10 years, after their 2-1 win over New York Red Bulls on the weekend, before heading to Europe, where there are title races aplenty. They begin in Italy (4:14), where Atalanta’s 2-1 win over Milan took them top of the table, thanks also to Lazio’s win in Naples—and wonder whether this could be the year for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to win their first Scudetto. Next up, Atleti are tiptoeing their way to the top (11:30), as they and Real Madrid closed the gap with Barcelona in La Liga, plus a quick shout for the Bundesliga (15:43). Finally, they chat about the Premier League’s stop-start weekend (18:10), when Liverpool sat back and watched a number of their rivals drop points. Chelsea were the only challengers not to do so, winning another chaotic game against Spurs (26:52), this time 4-3. There is also a shout-out for another huge Nottingham Forest result and some chat about the departure of Dan Ashworth as Manchester United sporting director (35:15), after just five months in the role. Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe recap a pivotal Matchweek 13 in the Premier League that had major implications on the title race

Super Sunday | Liverpool show title mettle as City crisis deepens | Keane hails huge Liverpool display | Carra: City have a top-four fight

Dave Jones presents Super Sunday from Anfield alongside Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Micah Richards, and Daniel Sturridge, who analyse Liverpool’s impressive win against a fragile Manchester City, whose winless run extends to seven games. The result means the hosts have an 11-point gap over City with a third of the season played. Keane praised the defensive resilience of Liverpool, saying they ‘showed a real desire to keep a clean sheet’. Carragher feels Man City’s struggles will continue and believes they will have a real fight to ensure they finish in a top-four position. After the match, Pat Davidson spoke to both Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk, with the Liverpool captain saying that they will not get ahead of themselves despite having a nine-point lead at the top of the table. Arne Slot also gave his reaction, describing the win as a near-perfect performance, whilst Pep Guardiola said that he and his players will reset and start from zero as they try to overcome this difficult period. An incredible Serie A title race, while Real close the gap on Barca

Jimbo’s got Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and James Horncastle alongside him for a deep dive into a fascinating weekend of action across the continent. It’s fair to say the Serie A title race is hotting up, with just two points separating Napoli in first and Juventus in sixth! That’s after Inter and Napoli shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the San Siro, while Atalanta, Fiorentina, Lazio and Juve all picked up big wins. Real Madrid clawed back some ground in the La Liga title race after their 4-0 win over Osasuna which included a hat-trick for Vinicius, a first goal of the season for Jude Bellingham - and a devastating injury for Eder Militao. They’re now six points behind Barcelona with a game in hand after Hansi Flick’s side fell to only their second league defeat of the season at Real Sociedad in controversial circumstances... Bayern Munich find themselves five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table after their 1-0 win over St Pauli courtesy of Jamal Musiala's sensational strike. Meanwhile, Dortmund’s horror start to the season rumbled on with a 3-1 defeat at Mainz - and Leverkusen’s week to forget continued as they were held by Bochum. And in Ligue 1, it’s business as usual for PSG who continued their unbeaten start to the season in a 4-2 win over Angers. Not such smooth sailing for Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille, beaten 3-1 by newly promoted Auxerre at the Velodrome which prompted the former Brighton boss to say he’ll ‘leave the money and hand back my contract’. *** We’ve been nominated for Podcast of the Year at the 2024 Football Supporters’ Association Awards! Joško And Win | Planet FPL S. 7 Ep. 52 | GW37 Weekend Review | Fantasy Premier League

On the weekend Review of Gameweek 37 Suj and James discuss all the games from the weekend which included confirmation of Burnley's relegation and Luton Town will almost certainly be joining them; while Manchester City and Arsenal both won to nil to confirm that the title race will go to the final day, but how James' Tottenham do against City tomorrow is likely to be decisive. But do Tottenham even want to win!? Bench Boosters have mainly done well, clean sheets for Arsenal and Everton have helped but there was pain for owners of Bruno Fernandes and Callum Wilson owners after their weekend no-shows. Plus, there's a focus on one week punts for Sunday's finale, and that may include interest in a Crystal Palace team who are in red hot form. They won again at Wolves, who themselves travel to Anfield on final day and Liverpool assets may well be of interest too subject to what we see at Villa Park tonight. And there's plenty more too consider from others too!
