We also delve into the implications of Messi's fluctuating status and how teams are beginning to address the ticketing issue associated with his absence. In #AskAlexi Alexi is asked about the current VAR issues occurring in the EPL and is also asked about Fiorentina owner, Rocco Commisso’s comments in 2018 regarding the state of US soccer. Brazil bypass Switzerland, Ghana get away from South Korea and Portugal pass Uruguay

Jimbo, Sasha Goryunov and Duncan Alexander gather to summarise Day 9 of the World Cup. We had two contenders for game of the tournament on the same day! Cameroon took the lead against Serbia but the Serbs scored three in succession to lead 3-1 only for Cameroon to drag it back to 3-3. The result probably means both sides are out but Vincent Aboubakar did score a lovely lob. Ghana looked like they were sailing to victory with a 2-0 lead over South Korea heading into half time. Then two goals in three second half minutes saw South Korea level before Mohammed Kudus scored his second, Ghana’s third, and secure what could be a massive three points in Group H. Massive because Portugal’s win over Uruguay sees the Portuguese qualify and leaves Ghana in pole position to follow them through. Plus we look ahead to the biggest game at the tournament tomorrow… Iran vs USA. Bassil Mikdadi gives us the Iranian perspective on their winner takes all game. And The Athletic’s Sam Stejskal gives us the perspective from the American side. Produced by Charlie Jones & Steve Hankey Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

"LAFC Doesn't Need Luis Suarez"

Luis Suarez needs a new club to prepare for the World Cup, is LAFC the right move? Christian doesn't think so! Luis Suarez has left Ateltico Madrid and is rumored to be going back to Nacional in Uruguay, his boyhood club. Rumor is he'd be willing to join LAFC but not until after the World Cup. Remember, thats next season for MLS and LAFC. If he joins LAFC, that makes LAFC the favorites to win the league this year, no? Would Gareth Bale stay to play with Luis Suarez? How would he fit in with Gareth Bale, Carlos Vela, and Chiellini who are already there? This could be one memorable LAFC season. Dyche Age

Even the blizzards summoned by Łukasz Fabiański this weekend weren't enough to stop either a purring Manchester City from winning or Sean Dyche from putting a jacket on. Kate, Jim and Lars round up a flurry of Premier League goodness as radio's Ralf Rangnick helped Man United get a point at Stamford Bridge and Graham Potter weathered some unusual booing. We also summarise the game's latest bout of shithousery, stretching from Norway to Uruguay. The Blizzard: Uruguay 1-1 Ghana (4-2 pens), 2010

It is almost ten years to the day since one of the most dramatic matches in World Cup history unfolded on a raucous night in Johannesburg. BBC 5 Live commentator Conor McNamara joins us to look back at the iconic clash between Ghana and Uruguay on today’s episode of Greatest Games, in association with The Blizzard! The hopes of a continent, and probably every neutral around the world, rested on a Ghanaian side that took on Uruguay and their fearsome attacking talent for a place in the semi-finals. Two goals either side of half time set up an extra-time period unlike any other, with Luis Suárez at his infamous worst – all set to the pulsating drone of 84,000 vuvuzelas.
