Premier League Review: Lukaku’s ‘dominant’ second coming; Arteta’s Arsenal already under pressure

The second weekend of the 2021/22 Premier League season will forever be remembered for the second coming of Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea. Alice Piper is joined by Nick Wright, Ron Walker and Oliver Yew to reflect on Lukaku’s emphatic second Chelsea debut at the Emirates Stadium, and what the display means for Thomas Tuchel’s title challengers, as well as Mikel Arteta’s winless Gunners… PART 1: Chelsea smashed their transfer record to bring Lukaku back to Stamford Bridge from Inter Milan but it already looks like money well spent after just one afternoon in north London. The panel examine Lukaku’s performance, how easily he adapted back to life in the Premier League, and how he will be that focal point Chelsea have been craving through the coming season. Attention then turns to Arsenal, who have lost their opening two games of the season and were subjected to boos at half-time and full-time from their own supporters. With Man City on the horizon, the pressure is already on Arteta. PART 2: After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Jurgen Klopp’s comments on the danger of Premier League rule changes transforming football into more physical sports like rugby and wrestling, the panel discuss whether Jack Stephens did indeed foul Bruno Fernandes in the build-up to Southampton’s goal against Man Utd, and whether the new interpretation of rules around contact have improved the game. PART 3: Danny Ings scored his first home goal for Aston Villa with a sensational acrobatic strike against Newcastle. But was it a bicycle kick or an overhead kick – and what’s the difference? After Jack Grealish opened his Man City account in somewhat fortuitous style, we assess his start to life with the champions and how team-mate Gabriel Jesus positional change could free up space for a certain Harry Kane, who made an appearance in Tottenham’s win at Wolves. As part of the Planet FPL Takeover week Suj & James are inviting 4 of the best up and coming content creators in the FPL Community to share their content on the Planet FPL Network. On today's Podcast it's FPL By Dummies... "I've got a bad feeling about this, a brand new FPL season brings with it the fresh opportunity for the hopes of fantasy football glory to be dashed for the Three Dummies (Josh, Cam and Tom), but with our appetite for punishment suitably replenished, we are back. This week we first discuss our full range of emotions surrounding England's European cup final performance; sadness, depression... is full blown tears an emotion? And talk about the atrocious and embarrassing abuse received after the game by our England boys. We then turn our focus to this seasons FPL assets with our usual podcast segment "Snog, Marry, Avoid!" and discuss who we think some of the standout players could be for the upcoming FPL season... Apart from Charlie Taylor of course!" ____________________________________________ Want to become a member of our FPL community? We talk about England's impressive opening goal and good first half, how Italy regained control in the second half and what went wrong for England in their attempt to respond in turn. Congratulazioni Italia | Planet #FPL Do The Euros | Ep. 25

Italy are the new European Champions having been England on penalties last night. There is congratulations to Italy, the tournament's best team in the opinion of Suj and James but naturally the conversation focuses on England with one particularly bruised hangover. Were England unlucky? Is there hope for the future? There's pride in the players on the pitch but disappointment with a lot that happened off the pitch from so-called England fans... ____________________________________________ Want to become a member of our FPL community? Part bleeding but still handsome

Italy are European champions. Jimbo, Carl Anka, James Horncastle, Raphael Honigstein, David Preece and Daniel Storey review a wonderful night for the Azzurri but a heart-breaking night for England who lose on penalties at Wembley. Gareth Southgate’s side take a very early lead but are pegged back and worn down by their opponent. Like the 2018 World Cup semi-final but worse. It’s an inspirational group of players but in hindsight, did England throw this Euros away? And did they play that much football in the tournament? As for Italy, we salute a team that every other team made changes to their system for. And of course, they had the amazing Chiellini. The star of this Italy team and finally a European champion.
