The Planet FPL Gameweek Review returns as Suj and James discuss the nind games played so far in Gameweek 1 and it was a great weekend for many who attacked the opening weekend fixtures as several top players returned well and clean sheets were on the rise with Arsenal, Liverpool, the Manchester clubs and Newcastle all managing to keep out their opponents. There's tactical insight to the games and as usual a slant towards FPL thinking with much of the advice given that managers should hold their nerve on the majority of selections and that may even include one or two players who didn't start this weekend. And it was a big FPL week for James with four Tottenham in the team and a Bench Boost active. It went well, but is the good work about to be undone in Gameweek 2 with the proposed Wildcard now unlikely to be played? That would likely mean no Erling Haaland this weekend and possibly no Manchester City coverage at all! Tomorrow on Planet FPL: The People's Poll Podcast. Kelly Cates is joined by Jamie Redknapp, Micah Richards and Daniel Sturridge and they analyse Enzo Maresca’s first game in charge of Chelsea which ended in a 2-0 defeat against reigning champions Manchester City. After the game, Micah Richards questioned whether Nicolas Jackson is the ‘top striker’ Chelsea currently need after he missed a great chance to get on the scoresheet. There is also reaction from both goalscorers, Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic as well as Pep Guardiola, who said it is an honour to manage Manchester City. Enzo Maresca speaks with Pat Davison and was happy with the performance of his players but said they did not take the chances they created. Jonny Pringle joins James to discuss all things Manchester City and their FPL assets as they bid for a fifth successive Premier League title. But there's a growing number of neutrals who think this might not be their season. Obviously Erling Haaland is covered, Jonny's initial reaction to the 15.0 price was to consider going without, but following the weekend pre-season hat-trick against GW1 opponents Chelsea how does he feel now? There's debate on Kevin De Bruyne versus Phil Foden at 9.5, the exciting emergence of 5.0 Oscar Bobb and his likely minutes, whether Josko Gvardiol is an auto pick at 6.0 and if there are preferences or desires across the players priced at 5.5 in defence and 6.5 midfield. Plus, will the departing Julian Alvarez be replaced, if Ederson is expected to stay and if City may remain surprisingly quiet during this transfer window despite some feeling a refresh is required. It's a Correspondent Week debut for Ipswich Town and Paul Gaught-Allen, who joins James to discuss everything about last season's Championship runners-up, including Kieran McKenna's crucial decision to stay as manager and whether surviving this season is a realistic aim following back to back promotions. Paul details what we can expect from McKenna tactically and that includes an advanced role for 4.5 left-back Leif Davis who notched a record number of Championship assists for a defender last season. But with every other Town defender priced at 4.0 is Davis worth the extra? And who's best from those 4.0s? Omari Hutchinson has signed on a permanent deal from Chelsea and has interest at 5.5, but there may be other attacking talents that appeal more from within the club. There's an outline of the current anticipated starting eleven and where the club is likely to invest further in the team and squad plus there's discussion on FPL's two most expensive players, Mo Salah and Erling Haaland, who are set to play The Tractor Boys in the first two Gameweeks. Clayton and James discuss what we know so far as we await the imminent official launch of Fantasy Premier League 2024/25. Many player prices are already known; what's the thoughts on Erling Haaland being priced at £15.0m? It's the highest ever price for an FPL asset. Cole Palmer has been given the highest ever increase in price coming in at 10.5 but will remain a popular option. There's a run through of the player prices known so far, running from the premiums down to the budget enablers, discussing the players that stand out at each price point, which includes the one player James is very confident that he'll start with subject to fitness. There's notes on some early fixture swings and caution is given on those returning from the European Championship.
