Leverkusen call time on ten Hag as Vardy arrives in Serie A

Jimbo’s got James Horncastle, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens alongside him for a whole lot of European football chit-chat after an eventful transfer deadline day. We begin over in Italy, where Jamie Vardy’s now having a party in Cremona after his late move to newly-promoted Cremonense. Speaking of strikers - will the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund cement Napoli’s status as favourites for the Serie A title? Next stop - Ligue 1 - where it was goals galore on Saturday, as Lille put seven past Lorient in an extraordinary second half showing and Toulouse v PSG finished 3-6 with a Joao Neves masterclass… where he scored a hat-trick featuring two overhead kicks! Over in the Bundesliga, Erik ten Hag’s short and fraught spell as Bayer Leverkusen manager was brought to a swift end following their collapse against 10 men in Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Bremen. So where did it all go so wrong? And where do they turn next? And in La Liga, Barcelona felt the benefit of VAR going awry - but they could only draw with Rayo Vallecano as Real Madrid took advantage as they continued their perfect start to the campaign under Xavi Alonso. All that - plus the curse of being a former Manchester United manager, unsavoury scenes at the Leagues Cup final in Seattle - and the Sound of Music! Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: A deep dive into Salzburg - and some moments of the week! (00.45) • PART 2: Serie A review: Vardy's latest party and are we sleeping on Juve? (09.15) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review: Neves' perfect performance (24.20) • PART 4: Who'd be an ex-Man United boss? Plus chaos in Seattle (36.00) • PART 5: Bundesliga review: ten Hag's Leverkusen nightmare (41.20) • PART 6: La Liga review: Barca blink first as Antony returns a hero (59.50) Hosted on Acast. Another Barca remontada & McTominay still leads the way at Napoli

Jimbo’s joined by Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle for your weekly dose of football chatter from across the continent. We begin in Germany, where Bayern Munich got their title defence underway in emphatic fashion with a 6-0 thrashing of RB Leipzig. Harry Kane picked up where he left off last season, scoring a 13-minute hat-trick to take him to a ludicrous 65 goals in 64 Bundesliga games. Not such good news for Erik ten Hag’s Leverkusen though - beaten 2-1 by Hoffenheim at the BayArena. In Ligue 1, despite the chaos off the field Marseille found some unity on it to beat Paris FC 5-2 at the Vélodrome, while PSG recorded another narrow 1-0 win as their underwhelming performances continued. Olivier Giroud stole the headlines with a 91st minute winner for Lille against Monaco - the 350th goal of his professional career! Over in La Liga, there was late drama as Barcelona fought back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Levante. Meanwhile Real Madrid made it two wins from two themselves in far more comfortable circumstances at newly promoted Real Oviedo. And there were plenty of intriguing scorelines in the first week of Serie A - including Inter’s 5-0 rout of Torino, Max Allegri’s Milan beaten 2-1 by the promoted Cremonense - and KDB kicking off life at Napoli with a goal in their 2-0 victory at Sassuolo - but he'll have to go some way to take Scott's crown... Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Unsatisfactory sausages & moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Bundesliga review - Kane just scores goals - and Leverkusen just look bad (11.35) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Marseille chaos continues as Giroud rolls back the years (24.55) • PART 4: La Liga review - Barca stage yet another comeback as Real start strong (35.05) • PART 5: Serie A review - Inter look angry while McTominay still wears the crown (48.05) Hosted on Acast. Jim Rosenthal (QK Reloaded)

In an effort to become podcasting's version of UK Gold, we're spinning it back and replaying the glory days of QK, every Tuesday and Thursday. This is: QK Reloaded. We'll be playing through our original episodes in release order. And this is... ITV heart-throb, Jim Rosenthal. This episode was first broadcast on 10th April 2017. ----- ITV in the 90s were famous for three things; Deirdre Barlow, adverts and our guest this week, Jim Rosenthal. He's covered 8 World Cups, even getting embedded with the England team for Italia 90. He was pitchside reporter the night Gareth Southgate missed in the shootout against Germany in Euro 96. And, the greatest honour of them all, once did an FA Cup draw with Graham Kelly. Plus we finally start a bespoke section that literally no-one demanded: 90s footballers spotted on water slides.
