Real win the derby and can Italy finally qualify for a World Cup again?

Jimbo reconvenes with Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballus, James Horncastle and Tom Williams to once again discuss all things European Football. Vinicius Jr is the matchwinner as ten-man Real Madrid beat Atletico 3-2 at the Bernabeu, but Barcelona are still the team to beat after a 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano keeps them four points clear. In Italy, Inter’s stuttering form continues with a 1-1 draw at Fiorentina. They still have a six point lead at the top despite Milan’s 3-2 win over Torino. Attention now turns to whether the Azzurri can get past Northern Ireland in their World Cup play-off semi-final on Thursday. Both Paris Saint-Germain and Lens have big wins in Ligue 1, while in Germany, there's a new Sporting Director at Dortmund. Produced by Lucy Oliva and Xavi Bird. RUNNING ORDER: PART 1: Moments of the week (10:30) PART 2: La Liga review - Real win the derby (19:00) PART 3: Serie A review - Inter continue to stutter (35:00) PART 4: Ligue 1 review - Thumping wins for the top two (1:00:00) PART 5: Bundesliga review - Kehl leaves Dortmund (1:13:00) Hosted on Acast. Trent Benched But Makes Decisive Impact In Madrid Derby

Trent Alexander-Arnold was dropped for the Madrid derby after reportedly being late for training, but he came off the bench to assist Vinicius Jr's winner and go some way to again proving his doubters wrong just a few days after he wasn't named in Thomas Tuchel's 35-man England squad. Gary and Alex react to a brilliant game in the Bernabeu as Vini Jr's brace and another goal from Fede Valverde secured a crucial 3-2 victory. Watch out for another golazo from Atletico's Nahuel Molina. Barcelona were below their best in a 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano, relying on a string of saves from goalkeeper Joan Garcia to hold onto the three points and remain top of La Liga. Trent is BACK as Real Madrid hunt down Barca

Trent Alexander-Arnold starred for Real Madrid as he made his return from injury in the 4-1 win over Real Sociedad at the Bernabeu, a win that saw them go top of La Liga at least temporarily. Gary and Alex look at whether he is finally finding his feet in Madrid, the praise he's getting from Alvaro Arbeloa and what that could mean for his chances of making the world cup squad. Atletico Madrid continue to put their fans through it as they followed up a stunning 4-0 win over Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey by meekly surrendering to Rayo Vallecano on Sunday in a 3-0 defeat. Diego Simeone and Jan Oblak were at loggerheads after the game, so we check in on Atleti and look at why their season is so continually up and down. Barca flying, Bayern drop points again + De Zerbi stays but so do Marseille's woes

James is joined in the Totally studio by James Horncastle, Tom Williams and Seb Stafford-Bloor with Pol Ballus joining from Barcelona as the Euro crew assemble to discuss this week's continental happenings. Bayern Munich have dropped points for a second weekend running in the Bundesliga. Seb was in the Volksparkstadion to see Hamburg draw 2-2 with the league leaders, meaning they are now 6 points clear of 2nd place Dortmund. In Spain, Real left it late to beat Rayo Vallecano 2-1 with Mbappe's winner coming in the 10th minute of injury time. That kept them within one point of Barca who comfortably beat Elche away 3-1 with goals from Yamal, Rashford and Ferran Torres. No change at the top of Serie A with Inter and Napoli both winning and second placed Milan still to play Bologna Tuesday night. Same story in France where Lens and PSG both won, but Marseille's horror week continued as they blew a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Paris FC. Plus Timo Werner's favourite Döner house & Antony spins again. Produced by Lucy Oliva and Jesse Howard. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the week (0.40) • PART 2a: Bundesliga review - Bayern drop more points (10.50) • PART 3a: Ligue 1 review - Marseille in meltdown (25.20) • PART 4a: Serie A review - Inter sitting pretty (37.10) • PART 5a: La Liga review - Top 2 win (53.30) Hosted on Acast. Stagnant Real Madrid Bailed Out By Mbappe Again

Real Madrid kept up their pursuit of league leaders Barcelona but only just, needing a 100th minute penalty from Kylian Mbappe to spare their blushes at home to Rayo Vallecano, in a match which saw Vinicius Jr booed despite scoring a worldie and Jude Bellingham leaving the pitch in tears clutching his hamstring. Gary and Alex look at why the atmosphere continues to be so fractious at the Bernabeu. Barcelona kept themselves ahead of the rest with a 3-1 away at Elche in a game in which they spurned plenty of chances to make the scoreline even greater, goals from Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Marcus Rashford were enough for the three points. With the league being so tight and the knock-out stages of the Champions League upon us who do Gary and Alex think has the squad capable of winning it all this season? There’s also been more grumbling at Atletico Madrid as they struggled to a 0-0 draw at Levante, leaving Diego Simeone calling for reinforcements in the transfer window, but after fifteen years in charge have the fans decided it’s time for a change? Bayern no longer perfect, Conte being Conte - and ten Hag back to Ajax?!

Jimbo’s got Pol Ballús, James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Seb Stafford-Bloor all along for the rollercoaster ride through the weekend’s action across the continent. We kick things off in France, where PSG have João Neves to thank for their two-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table after his 95th minute winner against Lyon. But chasers Lens and Marseille had wins of their own to keep the pressure on Luis Enrique’s side. In the Bundesliga - Bayern didn’t win a game! But neither did Leipzig or Dortmund, meaning Vincent Kompany’s men have actually extended their lead at the top of the table to six points despite the 2-2 draw at Union Berlin. In Spain, Real Madrid were lucky to come away from Rayo Vallecano with a point - which Barcelona took full advantage of in their 4-2 win at Celta Vigo, featuring a hat-trick from 37-year-old Robert Lewandowski. A special guest joins us from Vigo… nothing to do with Nando’s…. And in Serie A, are we seeing a repeat of Napoli’s last title defence?! Antonio Conte made some… interesting comments after his side were beaten 2-0 by Bologna to fall behind Inter and Roma at the top of the table. Plus - what’s going on at Ajax?! Dutch football expert Michiel Jongsma joins us to explain some of the fun and games in the Eredivisie - and whether a certain ten Hag might be making a return… Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Ligue 1 review - PSG’s late winner and billionaire v billionaire (07.45) • PART 3: Bundesliga review - does no one want to stop Bayern? Leverkusen call time on ten Hag as Vardy arrives in Serie A

Jimbo’s got James Horncastle, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens alongside him for a whole lot of European football chit-chat after an eventful transfer deadline day. We begin over in Italy, where Jamie Vardy’s now having a party in Cremona after his late move to newly-promoted Cremonense. Speaking of strikers - will the arrival of Rasmus Hojlund cement Napoli’s status as favourites for the Serie A title? Next stop - Ligue 1 - where it was goals galore on Saturday, as Lille put seven past Lorient in an extraordinary second half showing and Toulouse v PSG finished 3-6 with a Joao Neves masterclass… where he scored a hat-trick featuring two overhead kicks! Over in the Bundesliga, Erik ten Hag’s short and fraught spell as Bayer Leverkusen manager was brought to a swift end following their collapse against 10 men in Saturday’s 3-3 draw at Bremen. So where did it all go so wrong? And where do they turn next? And in La Liga, Barcelona felt the benefit of VAR going awry - but they could only draw with Rayo Vallecano as Real Madrid took advantage as they continued their perfect start to the campaign under Xavi Alonso. All that - plus the curse of being a former Manchester United manager, unsavoury scenes at the Leagues Cup final in Seattle - and the Sound of Music! Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: A deep dive into Salzburg - and some moments of the week! (00.45) • PART 2: Serie A review: Vardy's latest party and are we sleeping on Juve? (09.15) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review: Neves' perfect performance (24.20) • PART 4: Who'd be an ex-Man United boss? Atleti and Real go again in Madrid derby as Bayern, Bayer and Dortmund all lose

Jimbo’s joined by Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús and Seb Stafford-Bloor for a deep-dive into domestic and European matters across the continent. Last week’s Champions League first legs left some results more conclusive than others… we’re looking at you, PSV 1-7 Arsenal! But there’s still plenty of intrigue with the ties between Liverpool and PSG, Real and Atleti and Barca and Benfica finely poised. In La Liga, Real warmed up for their trip across the capital with a 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano, while Atleti were on the wrong end of that scoreline in a dramatic late defeat at Girona. Meanwhile Barcelona’s game with Osasuna was postponed just 20 minutes before kick-off following the sudden death of first team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia. In Ligue 1, PSG’s B-team made light work of Rennes to move 16 points clear at the top of the table - while Paulo Fonseca began his nine month (!) touchline ban as he watched his side beat Nice 2-0 from the stands to put themselves right in the mix for European football next season. Max Callegari - host of Pressing on Canale 5 - joins us to run the rule over all the Serie A action, which included humiliation for Juve, a first win in six for Napoli and spookily similar comebacks for Milan and Inter. And in the Bundesliga, there was history as for the first time in nearly 20 years Bayern, Leverkusen and Dortmund all lost on the same matchday. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend and Champions League teases (00.40) • PART 2: La Liga review - Mixed fortunes for Madrid sides as tragedy hits Barca (09.40) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - PSG flying high as Fonseca begins his touchline ban (19.35) • PART 4: Serie A review - Juve out of the title race as Milan sides stage 3-2 comebacks (33.30) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - big boys all beaten as Bayer, Bayern and Dortmund lose (45.30) Hosted on Acast. Real Madrid and Man City go again, as Kompany’s Bayern edge closer to the title

Jimbo’s joined by Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Michael Cox for your weekly dose of European action. We begin with the big F-bomb controversy which has taken La Liga by storm, Nabil Bentaleb’s dream return to action for Lille - and a look ahead to the all-important Champions League Knockout Round Play-off second legs, with Real v Man City topping the midweek billing. Elsewhere in Spain, the costly red cards for Bellingham and Barrios meant Real and Atleti left the door wide open for Barcelona who faced Rayo Vallecano on Monday night (after we’d recorded) - and it turns out that Antony fella is actually quite good - after making in three goals in three games at new home Betis… Over in Germany, it looks like Bayern Munich have one hand on the Bundesliga title after their goalless draw with closest rivals Bayer Leverkusen means the gap at the top of the table stays at eight points. Elsewhere the domestic misery continues to pile on Borussia Dortmund, beaten 2-0 by Bochum and sitting 11th in the league. In Italy, Juventus continued their surge up the Serie A table with a 1-0 win over Inter in the Derby d'Italia. It means Simone Inzaghi’s side missed the chance to go top after leaders Napoli had fallen to their third consecutive draw, held 2-2 by Lazio. And in Ligue 1, Fabian Ruiz bagged the only goal against Toulouse as PSG maintained their 10-point lead at the top of the table while Mika Biereth continued his remarkable start to life in Monaco with his second hat-trick in as many home games in their 7-1 thrashing of Nantes. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend, profanity & Champions League teases (00.45) • PART 2: La Liga review - Real and Atleti drop points to open door for Barca (16.00) • PART 3: Bundesliga review - Top two stalemate hands title advantage to Kompany’s side (26.52) • PART 4: Serie A review - Juve mounting top four charge as Napoli draw three in a row (41.45) • PART 5: Ligue 1 review - Bentaleb’s fairytale goal as Strasbourg fly high (50.45) Hosted on Acast. Organized Chaos: Bournemouth’s Possession Principles Against Nottingham – MH

On Matchday 23, the two surprise teams of the Premier League faced off. Nottingham, unbeaten in their last nine matches, has impressed this season with outstanding defensive work. Inter hit Lazio for six as Barca lose again in La Liga

Jimbo’s joined by his continental crew - James Horncastle, Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús and Seb Stafford-Bloor - to look back on the latest week of action from across Europe. Atletico Madrid took advantage of their faltering rivals Barcelona and Real with a 1-0 win over Getafe to move level on points with Hansi Flick’s side at the top of the table - and with a game in hand. That’s after Barca’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Leganes, while Carlo Ancelotti’s men were held 3-3 by Rayo Vallecano. It’s just as exciting over in Italy, with Atalanta flying high after their historic 10th consecutive league win. Napoli got back to winning ways to sit two points behind, while Inter also kept up the pressure with a statement 6-0 win over Lazio on Monday night. In the Bundesliga Bayern tasted defeat for the first time courtesy of a lacklustre 2-1 loss at bogey side Mainz, meaning Leverkusen closed the gap to four points courtesy of a 2-0 win at Augsburg. Plus, are Leipzig in the process of getting their season back on track? And in Ligue 1, PSG remain unbeaten and sit seven points ahead of the rest of the pack after their 3-1 win over Lyon. Elsewhere Lille extended their unbeaten run to 16 games in all competitions courtesy of a late 1-1 draw with Marseille, their longest unbeaten run for 51 years. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Serie A review - Six of the best from Inter while Atalanta make history (06.45) • PART 3: La Liga review - Barca lose again as Atleti close the gap (23.15) • PART 4: Ligue 1 review - PSG still unbeaten and seven points clear (34.15) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Bayern taste defeat for the first time as Leverkusen slash their lead (47.55) Hosted on Acast. Bournemouth fan Neil Grover joins James for discussion on The Cherries and a very important discussion on what to expect from new manager Andoni Iraola… and there’s plenty for Bournemouth fans to be enthused about. There is however a daunting opening 7 fixtures of the season and Bournemouth will do well to be outside the bottom 3 by the end of it… but on the flip side Iraola’s Rayo Vallecano were adept at causing upsets against the big boys, which leads to an interesting debate about the GW2 fixture at Liverpool. Premier League's Silly Sunday and Late Drama

This week, Musa and Ryan begin with the Premier League’s silly Sunday, full of curious decisions and moments of brilliance. They start by looking back at Chelsea’s commanding win over Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, thanks in no small part to N’Golo Kanté’s second-half introduction (03:34), and how the result provided a rare statistical quirk with Liverpool, who won 3-0 over Crystal Palace (12:47). There are shouts to Aston Villa, Southampton, Watford, and Brentford (15:23), before they move on to the rest of Sunday’s Premier League games, including Brighton’s win over Leicester (20:31) and Manchester United’s dramatic result at West Ham (25:20). Then it’s off around Europe, beginning with Juventus’s draw with Milan that leaves them in the bottom three (33:36), late drama at Mestalla (39:01), Radamel Falcao scoring in his Rayo Vallecano debut (41:20), drama in Paris, where PSG left it late against Lyon (43:34), and some Bundesliga (51:52).
