Liverpool relegate Leicester, Chelsea fight back and Villa overwhelm Newcastle

Arsenal, Barca & PSG put on dazzling Champions League displays

Jimbo’s joined by Natalie Gedra, Tom Williams and Duncan Alexander to run the rule over a breathtaking midweek of Champions League action. It turns out Declan Rice is a free-kick specialist?! Lamine Yamal is ludicrously good at football and the man old enough to be his dad Robert Lewandowski isn’t too bad either. PSG prove why they’ve been touted as favourites to win this competition after bamboozling a spirited Villa, plus dark horses Inter take an advantage back to the San Siro. Away from all the European fun, another big week of Premier League football awaits. Can Liverpool get back on track against West Ham? And is Mo Salah staying after all?! Can Manchester City get over their recent Crystal Palace hoodoo? Is this the weekend Newcastle take advantage in the race for a top five finish? And can Chelsea avoid the indignity of letting Ipswich do the double over them? Plus - how should decorated assistant referee Darren Cann sign off from his final professional appearance after officiating over 1000 matches? Produced by Lucy Oliva. Liverpool lose, Saints go marching down - and not even KDB can save dour derby

Jimbo's got Matt Davies-Adams, Daniel Storey and Tim Spiers alongside him for a deep-dive into all the weekend's Premier League action. We struggled to stay awake through a thoroughly underwhelming goalless Manchester derby - but at least there's time to talk about Kevin De Bruyne being special. Liverpool's recent struggles continued as they were beaten 3-2 at Fulham with the help of some calamitous defending - is their season at risk ending on a sour note even if/ when they lift the Premier League trophy? Southampton were finally put out of their misery - becoming the first team ever to be relegated from the Premier League with seven games to spare. Elias Burke was at the Tottenham Stadium to see Spurs flatter to deceive again despite their 3-1 win. Wolves are all but mathematically safe and Vítor Pereira's out on the town, Palace v Brighton was ill-disciplined but good fun indeed - and is Mikel Arteta really the hottest manager in the top flight? Plus, we preview the huge midweek Champions League clashes that await Arsenal and Aston Villa, with Real Madrid and PSG lying in wait in their quarterfinal first legs. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1a: Man United 0-0 Man City + farewell KDB (05.30) • PART 1b: Fulham 3-2 Liverpool (14.25) • PART 2a: Tottenham 3-1 Southampton - Saints relegation confirmed (22.00) • PART 2b: Brentford 0-0 Chelsea (25.45) • PART 3a: Aston Villa 2-1 Nottingham Forest (31.45) • PART 3b: Everton 1-1 Arsenal (35.45) • PART 3c: Ipswich 1-2 Wolves (43.05) • PART 3d: West Ham 2-2 Bournemouth (53.00) • PART 3e: Crystal Palace 2-1 Brighton (55.30) Hosted on Acast. Don't Look Back Elanga | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 44 | GW30 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Suj and James discuss the 9 games played so far in GW30 and it wasn't quite what many may have hoped it would be, as Mo Salah blanked, all Crystal Palace assets blanked as they got a late qualiser to draw at Southampton, Bournemouth lost to Ipswich and Manchester City strolled a 2-0 victory against Leicester. Rotation bit many, with some like Phil Foden benched, though Bukayo Saka returned as a substitute, but Justrin Kluivert didn't make the squad at all.But fun with flags (does not) continue, with Alexander Isak and Kieran Trippier having potential groin issues and Arsenal's Gabriel set for an extended absence after pulling his hamstring. Replacing Gabriel is high on the agenda, with teammate William Saliba and players with upcoming doubles high on the list of players to target and Newcastle assets will feel right for many looking for additions this week. But the biggest result for many last night was at The Amex, where Aston Villa's victory at Brighton takes away the bonus point potential for Unai Emery and Oliver Glasner, who were both set to be popular for those about to activate the Assistant Manager Chip, and James is among those who wanted to go there... so what now? A Goat Named Mo | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 40 | GW28 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Suj and James review the weekend of Gameweek 28 where there was more heartbreak for those who gambled on Cole Palmer again as the Chelsea talisman missed his first penalty of his professional career, whilst Mo Salah converted two penalties of his own to break the FPL points scoring record despite still having nine games to play! But FPL managers won't be captaining Salah this week with Liverpool among four teams who blank this week and much of the focus of the Podcast is towards decision making for the Blank coming up, and for some that may mean even selling Salah to fund a move for Erling Haaland. But is Haaland even the best captain this week!? City were being beaten again, this time at Nottingham Forest and Chris Wood may even be the EO play this week as Nuno's Champions League chasing team travel to Ipswich. All the games reviewed, including discussion on Arsenal's draw at Manchester United which surely means the title is heading to Anfield; Bournemouth's outstanding showing at White Hart Lane only earned them a point; while Aston Villa and Brighton also kept themselves in contention for a top 5 finish; and Wolves without Matheus Cunha also edged a point closer to safety Tomorrow on Planet FPL: Clash of the Correspondents, Bournemouth v Brentford with Neil Grover and Tom Medd Today on Patreon: The Q'N'A (IT+) and Nico's Corner (AT) For the full Planet FPL schedule this week, including our offering on Patreon view this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/schedule-march-124031506 Want to become a member of our FPL community and support the Podcast? Dango Unchained | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 33 | GW23 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Suj and James review a dramatic weekend in FPL as James played an accidental Free Hit, but at least went with Cody Gakpo who hauled ahead of Double Gameweek 24. A double that features a Merseyside Derby, so Everton assets appeal along with Reds players from across Stanley Park. But how good is this Liverpool double? They'll start against Bournemouth who are absolutely flying and walloped third placed Nottingham Forest 5-0; Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo both scored again, but it was OOP Dango Ouattara who claimed the match ball this time. There's discussion on Arne Slot Assistant Manager versus Mo Salah Triple Captaincy, how Trent Alexander-Arnold purred against Ipswich on Saturday and what to do if managers feel like they've picked the wrong Liverpool assets. Plus, as usual all the games reviewed, including coverage of the tactics in Manchester City's victory against Chelsea, the Myles Lewis-Skelly red card controversy in Arsenal's victory at Wolves and what now for Ange Postecoglu, following another disaster for Tottenham, as they were beaten at home by struggling Leicester? Walking On Hot Cole | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 14 | GW6 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Suj and James discuss the 9 games from the Premier League weekend and there was some wild swings for Fantasy managers, and particularly many on Wildcard which included Suj, and for many it ended in disappointment. There's discussion on thinking longer-term for Wildcard and that decisions aren't made based on just one Gameweek. But for James, who Wildcarded back in week 3, it was a stormer and Cole Palmer's monster 25 point haul helped him rise inside the nose bleed territory of the top 50k. But what should Palmer owners who have gone without do now? Does structure and upcoming fixtures necessitate continuing to go without? All the games covered as usual which include the North London clubs posting some silly underlying numbers, Liverpool's win that took them top, Villa being held by Ipswich and it's getting tiring talking about the shortcomings of Manchester United!
