Are you hanging tough? Vancouver Whitecaps are certainly in it tough and when the going gets touch the AFTN Soccer Show gets better, and longer, and we're back this week with an absolutely jam packed two and a half hour affair! There's no doubting Marc Dos Santos has his work cut out to get this Whitecaps team up to a serious playoff contender and Saturday's latest loss to San Jose showed the gap between themselves and teams they should be beating, especially at home. We pick over the bones of the game, hear from both head coaches, and ponder where the 'Caps go from here. We also look ahead to the Cavalry FC game in the Canadian Championship on Wednesday and hear from MDS on his thoughts after the first leg. AFTN's Calgary correspondent Scott Strasser joins us to chat about the Cavs season and what he expects from them in this second leg. Plus we chat with MLS record goalscorer Chris Wondolowski, the Quakes' former Whitecap Shea Salinas, and hear from Zlatan after the LA derby. There's also lots of MLS chat and Ivor Cutler makes his first appearance in Wavelength. Despite the doom and gloom surrounding the 'Caps we have another fun filled show for you. Here's the rundown for the main segments from the episode:03.41: Vancouver Whitecaps v San Jose Earthquakes match analysis18.54: Coaches audio25.24: More Whitecaps chat about current woes and fan reaction48.05: Whitecaps 2019 v 2011 chat52.17: Shea Salinas interview57.01: What's next for MDS and the 'Caps?65.43: Whitecaps 1979 Soccer Bowl season70.25: LA derby chat and Zlatan Ibrahimovic audio82.26: MLS chat and Chris Wondolowski interview93.26: Cavalry FC Canadian Championship preview - with Marc Dos Santos audio106.12: Scott Strasser interview and Cavalry FC and CPL discussion131.42: Wavelength - Ivor Cutler - Pass The Ball Jim135.20: BC Soccerweb headlines - news stories from around the world of football

The AFTN Soccer Show is back for another helping, but it would have been nice to come back with some more upbeat news to talk about. In the latest episode Steve, Zach, and Gideon chat about Vancouver Whitecaps’ dismantling by LAFC and the other news from Whitecapsland in the past week, plus they look ahead, with a mixture of excitement and trepidation at the midweek trip to CPL standouts Cavalry FC in the Canadian Championship. It’s a banana skin waiting to happen and we catch up with the man that hopes to keep the ‘Caps at bay, former Whitecap Marco Carducci. All this plus lots of Canadian men’s and women’s national team, MLS, and Gold Cup chat. Plus Wavelength returns with a song from 1998.

In this, the latest episode of Ramble Meets, Luke talks to ex-Sunderland and England player Micky Gray. Spotted by a Manchester United scout at age 13, Micky ended up playing in the Red Devils' academy with the likes of Ryan Giggs, Adrian Doherty, Paul Scholes and David Beckham before signing back with his hometown club Sunderland. Across a career spanning 18 years, from the low of missing the decisive penalty in the 1998 Championship Playoff Final to the high of representing his country, Micky takes us through a hugely interesting time playing football at the top level, including run ins with managers, fans, and future England captain Wayne Rooney. ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Laura Woods is currently in demand as a live football presenter on both TV for Sky Sports and radio for talkSPORT. She is instantly recognisable for her work on Super Sunday, The Debate and the PDC World Darts Championship. Here, in this exclusive interview, she tells Luke about her path into broadcasting from making her own 'radio shows' on her stereo at home as a kid to co-hosting national shows on talkSPORT, how she deals with criticism from both colleagues and internet trolls, and what it's like to work in an industry that is still very much a man's world. ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. A strange weekend of football as Liverpool keep it up but Spurs, Arsenal and Man United all implode to various degrees, in what will surely become known as The Season Where Nobody Seemed That Bothered About Finishing Third or Fourth. The Premier League also says goodbye to Neil Warnock and his fancy new stance, various play-offs take shape and we speculate on the behind-closed-doors character of Delia Smith. The FA Cup quarter finals are over and they were full of late goals, VAR controversy and sort-of-but-not-quite cupsets, the Championship had an outfield player in goal, and in the Premier League Javier Hernandez’s impressive under-the-radar goal return justified the West Ham spend that everyone’s jealous of. As well as all this, Wes Morgan wins Brendan Rodgers’ Epitomising the Humble Attitude of the Group Award, Paul Scholes has enough and we learn of a delightfully specialist app, link below.
