Following the weekend' FA Cup football and last night's 5th round draw Suj and James revaluate the outlook for Chip usage for the rest of the season, and though current projections remain unchanged there's lots that could change in the coming weeks and that may force many FPL managers to move away from the current template strategy. What will happen to the Manchester City v Crystal Palace fixture? Could Gameweek 33 be the only remaining Double Gameweek? Should Bench Boost be used now or held for later? It's all covered, including alternative 'out' chip strategies if at short notice Gameweek 32 would look bad for a Wildcard followed by a Gameweek 33 Bench Boost, why certain fixtrures could be forced into certain weeks, if non European teams could have postponements go into random weeks and more, including why the next big event that could alter the landscape is the scheded April TV selections... It's that time of year, where January arrives, the FA Cup 3rd round has gone & the Carabao Cup Final can be projected. That means for FPL managers it's time to think seriously about what to do with chips. Suj and James discuss the calendar for the rest of the season, understanding permutations and fixture projections to give an overview of when might be best to save chips for. Wildcard now or save it? Could there be a Double Gameweek soon? There will also be a popular template strategy... but there needs to be an awareness that it could all change! With Manchester City entering a positive swing of fixtures that begins with the visit of Burnley, Suj and James decided this would be a good time to revaluate strategy for chip usage in the first half of the season. The Podcast kicks off with discussion on if Crystal Palace's progress in the Carabao Cup could lead to blanks and doubles in December and there's an assessment of 'danger fixtures' where rotation could bite due to short turnarounds or difficult fixtures either side of 'easier' games. And there's discussion on options available for all of the Bench Boost, Free Hit, Triple Captain and Wildcard chips right up until the final opportunity of GW19. Suj and James discuss Chip Strategy with a detailed look at opportunities during the first half of the season to use the Wildcard, Free Hit, Bench Boost and Triple Captain Chips. There's a search for opportunities, caution offered for overplanning for the Bench Boost, circumstances that can make Free Hits appeal to some but not offers. How much weightage should be put into planning for a Bench Boost or should we just hope it falls into place? Two key Wildcard periods covered and there's coverage of an awareness of 'safe weeks' and danger weeks for Chip coverage. Suj and James look at possibilities for those on Wildcard now with James having several drafts prepared, looking at both targeting a Bench Boost in GW32 and GW33, what difference aiming to Free Hit in GW33 would make, what planning to Free Hit in GW33 might change and there's also coverage of what those without a Free Hit may want to do and includes a set up that makes a Bench Boost viable. Many of the drafts discussed look similar and there will be some groupthink at play with Crystal Palace and Manchester City playing teams in the bottom three and now projected to Double in 33, but there is a repeated warning that the projections may be wrong. Does the front 3 pick itself? Newcastle assets are covered, Cole Palmer v Bukayo Saka and lots more. Suj and James revisit a Podcast from 4 weeks ago deliberating which week would be best to Free Hit from the potential Blank Gameweeks of 29 and 34. There's discussion on considering the template, including the importance of Erling Haaland, and the fixtures before after GW29 when making a decision on whether to activate the Free Hit or run through the Gameweek, and that decision will need to be made without the picture for the Doubles of 33 and the Blanks of 34. There's a look at potential Free Hit Drafts for 29, 33 and 34 and James reiterates the script for the current projections and has warnings about how the weeks around the FA Cup Semi Finals may not be exactly what we think and how that can have big implications for Wildcarders looking to Bench Boost. And the consequence of the Newcastle v Crystal Palace arrangement for GW32 might not be as obvious for GW33 as it appears now. On the second installment of Suj and James' Chip Strategy Podcasts there is analysis on how the outlook is projected to look moving forward for Blank and Double Gameweeeks following the weekend's FA Cup ties. With discussion on options and opportunities for usage of all the chips between now and the end of the season. The Pod begins with discussion on the FA Cup weekend with Tottenham and Ange Postecoglu now perhaps teetering on the brink after defeat at Aston Villa, but the big shock came at Home Park as Plymouth Argyle defeated a heavily rotated Liverpool - and by consequence the landscape for FPL managers has changed again. There's discussion on activating a Chip now, with Aston Villa and Liverpool about to Double, the importance of mainpulating Gameweeks 33 and 34 with many 33 doublers then likely to blank in 34 - but has it become easier to manage following Liverpool's elimination from the Cup!? Plus, the impact that the FA Cup and Europa League finals could still have, why GW36 could have doubles before GW37 blanks, but may also not have any doubles at all. There's a warning about Wildcarding following Blank Gameweek 29, the crazy potentail Assistant Manager big bonus opportunity available now, and consideration is given to preparing for the unexepected, particulary as the upcoming doubles in GW25 caught many by surprise. James' live stream is dominated with Chip questions following the Premier League's shock announcement today that the GW29 fixtures of Arsenal v Chelsea, Aston Villa v Liverpool and Fulham v Tottenham will be brought forward to GW25 in the event that they need to be postponed to accommodate a team playing in the Carabao Cup Final. James explains the possibilities and why this announcement could have a huge bearing on the future Double Gameweeks of 33 and 36. Plus, should those intending to Triple Captain Mo Salah now abort and play the Assistant Manager Chip instead? And if the do, should it be on Arne Slot or David Moyes? Plus, why possible Gameweek 25 doublers should be held, why it may now pay to wait on Bournemouth and Brentford assets rather than invest, benching dilemmas and lots more! It's Chip Strategy season! With the FA Cup 3rd round concluded for Premier League sides and with the draw for the 4th round now known Suj and James plot plans for using Chips in FPL for the rest of the season. And this year there's the added complication of the Assistant Manager Chip, so should it be used early on Arne Slot or do better opportunities await later in the season for other managers? There's also coverage of when might be best to use the Triple Captain Chip, which might be the biggest and best week for the Bench Boost, and with many of the Chips used best in a Double Gameweek does than mean the Free Hit should be used as a shield in a Blank Gameweek? Permutations and possibilities covered, including when FPL managers may want to use the second Wildcard and how it can set up for Chip usage. It's a late Sunday night Podcast for Suj and James to discuss all the fallout from Gameweek 30 ahead of the quick turnaround for Tuesday's Gameweek 31 deadline. There's discussion on the drab Man City-Arsenal encounter that means it's now advantage Liverpool in the title race following their victory against Brighton. There's rage at West Ham's defeat at Newcastle having led 3-1, Tottenham came from behind again to beat a spirited Luton, how a bright start for Wolves fizzled out at Villa and somehow Brentford nearly lost despite dominating Manchester United. There's FPL relevant discussion on every club with many managers planning their routes towards either Gameweek 34 or 37 but many may be hampered again by a sea of flags and that includes to popular Chelsea and Newcastle assets that may make life difficult for current Wildcarders. With the fixtures confirmed for Double Gameweek 34 on Saturday morning Suj and James cover one more time strategy for Chip usage for the rest of the season. And for James there is now clarity of what's best for him, but will Suj follow and do the same? However, not everything is clear. Tottenham have strangely been left with a blank in Gameweek 34 and it does raise the possibility of a Treble Gameweek in 37 for Tottenham and possibly Chelsea too! That won't happen though, will it? Teams are broken into 3 groups, those who won't double, those who double in 34 and those who double in 37. There's coverage of every club and when they will or won't be of interest and solutions offered for those with all chips left and for those struggling with what they have. Bench Boost 34 v 37 covered, so to is Haaland v Salah and why some will be using all their chips in 4 consecutive gameweeks near the end. Play It Your Way. It's the first big Chip strategy Podcast of the season as Suj and James layout a roadmap of what to expect during the second half of the season with blank and double gameweeks and the various options available for Chip strategies. There's discussion on a now 'probable' Double Gameweek 25 for Liverpool, what could happen to the unfulfilled fixtures featuring Manchester City and Bournemouth and an understanding of the blank and double gameweeks to come during the season. There's analysis of what weeks will be popular for Chip usage of the Bench Boost, Free Hit, Triple Captaincy and the second Wildcard and why working out when to Free Hit may be defining. Is there a current optimal strategy? Plus, why too much Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham could cause a major GW26 problem that may also be repeated in GW29; why the end of season doubles may be crap for Fantasy managers and the fallout from the weekend including Arsenal losing again, the fitness status of Jarrod Bowen and Erling Haaland and Tottenham's likely purchase of Timo Werner.
