The guys then dive into soccer across the pond where Arsenal and Manchester City continue to roll on. We also cover La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A fixtures. In our #AskAlexi segment, we debate what constitutes a successful USMNT outing in Qatar. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

It’s the Euro crew of Jimbo, James Horncastle, Raphael Honigstein, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo in full effect. Drama in Paris as despite PSG’s rip-roaring start to the season, Kylian Mbappe falls out with Neymar over penalty duties and literally stops playing at one point. Lots for Luis Campos to sort out. Kris, Jez and Phil round up round 2, and a week in which Monaco might be unhappy already, and PSG might be an unhappy camp already. Also, the promoted teams, some epic comebacks, why it's not a good idea to host a Celtic festival on your football pitch, and what all those confusing shirt numbers are about...

The Bundesliga kicks off with a 6-1 win for Bayern at Eintracht Frankfurt. After being so reliant on their Polish icon, why don’t Nagelsmann’s men miss Robert Lewandowski? Joe Devine, JJ Bull and Jon Mackenzie discuss the beginning of the Premier League 22/23! Arsenal took All, not Nothing, from Crystal Palace in the first game of the season. There’s the slightest sniff of discontent at Leicester. Haaland scored for Manchester City because, well fate is inexorable and Manchester United are still a hot, expensive mess. Many more leagues have also begun and we discuss… some of them. Mainly Nice and their lovely new signings in Ligue 1 and how Bayern are somehow even more terrifying for the Bundesliga. Kris, Jez and Phil are joined by special guest Adam Virgo - ex-pro and current commentator for BT, Sky, ITV and others - for a look forward to the upcoming Ligue season, including the runners and riders, transfer market, managerial changes and more. Also we cover France at the Women's Euros and what that could do for the game more broadly, European success for the youth teams, and which team is in which European club competition in the coming season. It's confusing. Also, how Kris ended up booking a sunset cruise to go dolphin watching and thus missing the opening games in not one but two leagues...

Kris, Jez and Phil round up the last week of Ligue 1 - Europe, relegation, play-offs, PSG's new approach to player-management, OL winning their 8th Womens' Champions' League title, and more.

Game 37 is done! The bottom three are the bottom three, and have Marseille screwed up their Champions' League chances? Kris, Jez and Phil round it all up, including the Ligue 2 standings and idrissa Gana Gueye's stance on people.

After two rounds of Ligue 1 and the final of the Coupe de France which saw Nantes win the trophy for the fourth time, Kris and Jez mull over all the action (disclaimer - possibly not all the action). With two games to go - ish, there are some catch-up games today for the cup final contenders - there is still much to play for in relation to both the European places and the relegation battle.

Kris, Jez and Phil round up *two* Ligue 1 rounds, PSG's 10th title win, the Women's Champions' League, and the upcoming Europa Conference League fixture.

After an international break, Women's Champions' League and game 30 of Ligue 1, Kris, Jez and Phil have a lot to get through. Is it a good idea to give a player the keys to a club? Is it a good idea to base your tactics on a dream your president had? What will happen in PSG and OL's sixth meeting in the WCL knock-out stages?

PSG have had another nightmare, and Kris, Jez and Phil are here to look at that, the rest of the last round of Ligue 1, and European qualification before an international break.

Kris, Jez and Phil round up the Coupe de France semi-finals and game 27 of Ligue 1 - are PSG all that without Mbappe? What is the Dupraz effect? How bad can it get for Bordeaux? And many other issues....

Jimbo and the Euro crew of James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo dissect another big weekend across the continent. Sevilla are victorious in the derby against Betis on Sunday. Can West Ham topple the kings of the Europa League in the Europa League? Staying in Spain, Barcelona continue to benefit from having the best transfer window in Europe as Aubameyang continues to show his class. It was a huge weekend for Napoli who go top of the table in Serie A. Can Spalletti’s side go all the way? Dortmund slip up again and in France, Payet and Milik can’t get on at Marseille. Plus will Mbappe stick around to become PSG’s all-time top scorer? RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1a: Moment of the weekend (01m 00s) • PART 2: The Seville derby and the Europa League draw (06m 00s) • PART 3: Bundesliga and Serie A latest (25m 00s) • PART 4: Ligue 1 and the Conference League draw (36m 00s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC TODAY FOR £1 A MONTH FOR THE FIRST 6 MONTHS • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com. Kris, Jez and Phil round up two weeks of French football, including Ligue 1, Europe, and forward to the Coupe de France semi-finals. PSG blip, refereeing issues, some wonderful goalkeeping, and many other things.

The Euro crew of Jimbo, James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo assemble after another dramatic weekend across the continent. Real Madrid, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid all come from 2-0 down to salvage something in La Liga. But can Ousmane Dembele salvage his career after Barca tell him he’s no longer welcome at Camp Nou? There’s a top of the table clash in the Netherlands as leaders PSV took on the inexplicably not leaders Ajax. Yordi Yamali has more. Lionel Messi returns for PSG but it’s Marco Verratti who turns goalscorer supreme in their 4-0 win over Reims. And why won’t Poch play the kids? Thiago Motta is earning his managerial stripes as Spezia go from strength to strength in Serie A. And Super Mario Balotelli is back with the Azzurri. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend (01m 30s) • PART 2: A weekend of comebacks in La Liga (05m 00s) • PART 3: Ligue 1 – Messi returns for PSG (19m 00s) • PART 4a: Bundesliga bulletin (31m 00s) • PART 4b: PSV 1-2 Ajax with Yordi Yamali (32m 00s) • PART 5: Motta flying at Spezia and Balotelli back with the Azzurri (38m 00s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC TODAY FOR 33% OFF THE PRICE OF AN ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com. Jimbo and the Euro crew of James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo dissect the weekend action on the continent. Real Madrid win the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia with Ancelotti and Modric remaining evergreen. But the real headlines are made back home in the Copa Del Rey with the Betis derby suspended and completed 24 hours later behind closed doors after a missile strikes Joan Jordan. Bordeaux suspend Laurent Koscielny and sink to second bottom of Ligue 1 after a 6-0 defeat to Rennes. In Italy, Nani debuts for Venezia, Paulo Dybala might be on the way out of Juventus and the panel debate whether Ciro Immobile is any good or not. And Christoph Biermann gives us the latest from the Bundesliga where Erling Haaland raises questions about his future and Union finally give Berlin a team to be proud of. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend (03m 00s) • PART 2: Real win the Super Cup and madness in the Seville derby (06m 30s) • PART 3: The Bundesliga bulletin with Christoph Biermann (20m 00s) • PART 4: Nani, Dybala and how good is Immobile? Happy New Year! Kris, Jez and Phil are here to round up the Coupe de France 16emes, and the 70% of Ligue 1 that happened at the weekend. Monaco have changed manager, the transfer window is open, TV coverage is...occasionally problematic, and unused goalkeepers with their shirts.

Phil and Jez get together for a Christmas pod to round up the 9th round of the Coupe de France, game 19 in Ligue 1, and the standings at the halfway point.

Kris, Phil and Jez round up game 15 in Ligue 1 and game 5 of the various European fixtures as four of the French teams have qualified already, one's in a very exciting group, and one may drop down and continue their campaign. There's a midweek round as we head towards Christmas, so there will be two rounds to cover in the next pod.

Kris, Phil, and (for a while) Jez look back at an international break that saw France qualify for the World Cup, a red-card-heavy round of Ligue 1 games featuring yet another abandoned game, and some weird moves on and off the pitch in the women's game.

Jimbo, James Horncastle, Raphael Honigstein, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo look back on a weekend across Europe headlined by new gaffers and late drama. Barcelona celebrate the appointment of Xavi by throwing away a three-goal lead against Celta Vigo. And champions Atletico draw 3-3 as well. Is this the worst group of defenders Simeone has ever had to work with? Meanwhile Real Sociedad stay top with their manager insisting former Newcastle man Mikel Merino is the best player in La Liga. The best player in the Bundesliga right now – outside of Munich – might be Christopher Nkunku who propels Leipzig to a huge win over Dortmund. It’s honours even in the Milan derby but former Milan man Andriy Shevchenko is making his first steps into club management….at Genoa. Plus it’s a good weekend in France for Lens and Rennes, while Claude Puel’s Saint-Etienne finally secure their first win of the season. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend (02m 00s) • PART 2: Barcelona appoint Xavi (04m 30s) • PART 3: Serie A – honours even in the Milan derby (11m 00s) • PART 4: Bundesliga – Leipzig on the mend under Marsch (21m 00s) • PART 5: La Liga – Atleti ship more goals (29m 00s) • PART 6a: Ligue 1 – Saint-Etienne win at last (38m 00s) • PART 6b: A look ahead to the World Cup qualifiers (45m 00s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC TODAY FOR 33% OFF THE PRICE OF AN ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com. Kris, Jez and Phil take a look at the bottom of the table, as results at the weekend featured comebacks, long-range strikes, unexpected wins, and apparently ageless Jimmy Briand. Jez is mournful about Metz, Phil thinks far too many teams are too good to go down, and Kris has a cold. They also look forward to Matchday 4 in the various European competitions where several of the French contingent have crunch games.

Jimbo, James Horncastle, Raphael Honigstein, Alvaro Romeo and Julien Laurens are back to give you your fill of Euro football chat. El Clasico, Le Classique, Il Derby D’Italia and De Topper. It was a huge weekend of fixtures across the continent. Coaches in Serie A are raging at referees. Julian Nagelsmann is masterminding Bayern’s title charge from his kitchen. And Joshua Kimmich is not getting his Covid jab. It was a bad weekend for Dutch coaches. Ronald Koeman is harassed as he drives out of the Camp Nou following Barca’s defeat to Real Madrid. Mark Van Bommel is sacked by Wolfsburg. And Peter Bosz’s Lyon throw away another 3 points at Nice. But Erik ten Hag had a great week as Ajax follow up their dismantling of Dortmund with a five-star display against PSV. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend (02m 00s) • PART 2: La Liga – Real rule in El Clasico (05m 00s) • PART 3: Serie A - managers raging at referees (21m 00s) • PART 4: Ligue 1 - a not so classic Classique (33m 00s) • PART 5a: Bundesliga – Kimmich controversy (41m 30s) • PART 5b: Ajax 5-0 PSV (53m 00s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC TODAY FOR 33% OFF THE PRICE OF AN ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow PARISH NOTICES: • we’re sponsored by Paddy Power - home of the Money Back Special READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com. Kris and Phil are on their own this week to round up an un-classic Classique and Nice's last-minute comeback against OL, as well as St Etienne's ongoing problems and whether or not Lens are going to keep hold of their current position. Features red cards, arrests. Europe, stats, a nod to Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France.

Several teams had a weird week over the European games and the League games at the weekend. Kris, Jez and Phil are here to round up the Rhone derby, Lille's win over OM, and Rennes' unexpectedly comprehensive result against PSG. We look forward to the Nation's League semi-finals and potential final day, and there's a look back at the legacy of Bernard Tapie, who died this week.

Jimbo is joined once again by Raphael Honigstein, James Horncastle, Alvaro Romeo and Julien Laurens after a weekend where Europe’s big guns all taste defeat. PSG are beaten for the first time this season at Rennes, as Neymar gets a 2/10 from L’Equipe. Meanwhile Bayern Munich play much better but miss a host of chances in defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt. Real Madrid lose at Espanyol while Barcelona are beaten yet again at Atletico. Messi’s gone and so have the goals. But will Joan Laporta sack a manager mid-season for the first time in his career? Napoli make it 7 wins out of 7 in Serie A as they dare to dream of a title challenge. The same is true of Milan who are enjoying their best start since 2003. Jules pays tribute to Bernard Tapie, former president of Champions League winning Marseille. And we look ahead to, and try and build up some hype for, the Nations League Finals. Musa and Ryan begin with the story that rocked the NWSL: Paul Riley was fired by the North Carolina Courage after former players said that he sexually coerced them dating back to 2010, with NWSL commissioner Lisa Baird and general counsel Lisa Levine also leaving their posts (07:53). Then, it’s on to three special games this weekend, starting with an epic battle at Anfield between Liverpool and Manchester City (15:12), a vintage Atlético Madrid performance over Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano (35:13), and Eintracht Frankfurt’s first win at Bayern in 21 years (51:58). There’s also a roundup of some other key results in the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1, where Rennes halted PSG’s 100 percent start to the season with a 2-0 victory.
