They also shout out Everton’s resurgence under David Moyes, Liverpool getting past a tricky away fixture at Bournemouth, and the rest of the Premier League before quickly recapping some La Liga and Serie A (42:21). Champions League fates to be sealed as Barca put 7 past Valencia

Jimbo’s joined by his continental crew - James Horncastle, Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús and Seb Stafford-Bloor - to look back on the latest week of action from across Europe AND look ahead to the decisive Champions League matchday 8 ties. Nine teams have already been eliminated from the competition with three more to go, but can Manchester City avoid being one of them? Belgian football expert Kristof Terreur joins us to preview their must-win game against Club Brugge. Elsewhere, it’s also finely poised between Stuttgart and PSG who sit 24th and 22nd in the table… Back to domestic matters, and in Serie A Napoli continued their fine form and made it 7 wins on the bounce as they fought back from a goal to win 2-1 over Juventus and end their unbeaten record. Plus, drama at the San Siro as Conceição and Calabria almost came to blows… In La Liga Kylian Mbappé bagged his first hat-trick for Real Madrid as they went four points clear at the top of the table after a 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid. That’s after Atléti were held to a 1-1 draw with Villarreal, while Barcelona put just the seven past Valencia as they got back to winning ways in the league. Over in Germany, Bayern moved six points clear at the top after their 2-1 win at Freiburg, while closest rivals Leverkusen saw a two-goal lead evaporate as they were held by Leipzig. And in Ligue 1, PSG dropped points for the fifth time this season in a 1-1 draw with Reims at the Parc de Princes. But they’ve actually extended their lead at the top to 10 points after Marseille were beaten 2-0 by Nice in the Derby de la Mediterranée. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Champions League preview including Man City v Club Brugge with Kristof Terreur (07.30) • PART 3: Bundesliga review - Bayern go six points clear while Dortmund close in on Kovac (26.45) • PART 4: Serie A review - Napoli’s winning streak continues as Conceição cracks the whip (39.25) • PART 5: Ligue 1 review - PSG drop points but still manage to extend their lead at the top (54.15) • PART 6: La Liga review - Mbappé gets a hat-trick while Barca put 7 past Valencia (61.15) Hosted on Acast. Oh, Where to Even Begin...

Musa and Ryan wrap up some news at the top of Serie A (01:40) and La Liga (06:17) before heading to the Premier League, where they begin by praising yet another impressive win for Bournemouth (07:49). Their win over Forest took them level on points with Chelsea, who lost 3-1 at the Etihad, where Omar Marmoush impressed on his debut (10:44). There’s chat about another Mo Salah stat, as Liverpool maintained their lead at the top (16:37), as well as the rest of the weekend’s games and a big fallout to that red card at Wolves (19:57). They then head to the Bundesliga (30:36), where Ryan was at the Millerntor to see St. Pauli’s 3-0 win over Union that saw them climb to 13th on a weekend when Leverkusen lost ground on Bayern and the Bundesliga delivered yet again. PSG v Man City tops the UCL bill, plus is ten Hag the answer to Dortmund's problems?

Jimbo’s got his European gang alongside him as James Horncastle, Seb Stafford-Bloor and Julien Laurens look back on the latest action across the continent - and look ahead to matchday seven in the Champions League. We begin with a look ahead to some of those key UCL ties, including Wednesday night’s heavyweight 25th v 22nd battle between PSG and Manchester City. Plus, Liverpool look to make it seven wins from seven when they host high-flying Lille and Villa make the trip to Monaco. There was late drama in Serie A as Romelu Lukaku scored the winner in a 3-2 victory in Bergamo to further derail Atalanta’s hopes of a first Scudetto. It means Antonio Conte’s side are three points clear at the top of the table, but have played a game more than chasers Inter Milan who picked up their own 3-1 win over Empoli to keep up the pressure. Over in La Liga, promoted Leganes pulled off yet another shock as they ended Atlético Madrid’s club-record 15-game winning run. It’s a result that handed the advantage over to Real - with Mbappé and co fighting back from conceding after just 28 seconds to beat Las Palmas 4-1. In Germany, Bayern Munich’s lead at the top stays at four points after forgotten man Leon Goretzka bagged a brace in their 3-2 win over Wolfsburg. Chasers Leverkusen made it 11 wins in a row, with lateness no problem this week for Florian Wirtz who got an assist and brace of his own in their victory over Monchengladbach - an 11th win in a row in all competitions for the reigning champions. Plus, could a certain former Manchester United manager be parachuted in to save Dortmund as their season continues to implode? And in France, you guessed it… PSG’s unbeaten run continues - this time coming from behind to beat Lens 2-1 and extend their lead at the top of the table to nine points. That’s after closest challengers Marseille were held to a 1-1 draw by Strasbourg. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Champions League previews (12.30) • PART 3: Serie A review - Napoli beat Atalanta to strengthen title hopes (23.25) • PART 4: La Liga review - Atleti’s 15-match winning run over as Real go top (36.25) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Big trouble for Dortmund as Leverkusen keep winning (41.10) • PART 6: Ligue 1 review - PSG’s lead stretched to nine points (51.25) Hosted on Acast. Napoli's Statement Victory, Real Madrid Go Top of La Liga and Much More

This week Musa and Ryan begin in Serie A, where there was a huge top-of-the-table clash in which Napoli left Bergamo with three points after defeating Atalanta (02:29). It was all change at the top of La Liga (16:20), thanks to Leganés’s win at home against Atleti, Real Madrid beating Valencia and Barcelona being held at Getafe. There’s some love for Athletic Club, who have quietly caught up with Barça, before they head to the Bundesliga. There’s some talk about Omar Marmoush’s goodbye (28:44), discussion of some big wins and then a quick wrap-up of the Premier League (38:48). Jimmy Conrad and Tony Meola look ahead to the USMNT’s upcoming friendly against Venezuela. Jimmy gets fired up about the Jackson Ragen situation after the Seattle Sounders blocked the defender's national team call-up (11:59). The guys recap a big midweek for Americans Abroad, with standout performances from Weston McKennie and Gio Reyna (26:27). Plus, they debate the stakes of Saturday’s Serie A showdown: Who needs the win more, Juventus or AC Milan (34:02)? Atletico and Atalanta top the tree, plus our 2024 highlights

Jimbo’s got his festive friends alongside him as Julien Laurens, James Horncastle and Pol Ballús bring the pre-Christmas cheer and reflect on all the action from across the continent. There was late, late drama in La Liga as Alexander Sørloth’s 96th minute goal made it 12 wins in a row for new league leaders Atleti following a 2-1 victory over Barcelona - who are down to third and in their worst run of form for over 20 years. Elsewhere, a certain Kylian Mbappé’s starting to look pretty good for Real Madrid… It was all about the Coupe de France in, well, France - including humiliation for Montpellier at the hands of fourth tier Le Puy Foot, memorable penalty saves and disappointment for Andy Carroll. Meanwhile in the Bundesliga it looks like we’ve got a two-horse race on our hands for the title, as Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen both registered big 5-1 wins to keep things nicely poised heading into die Winterpause. And it’s even tighter in Serie A, with Napoli just two points behind Atalanta - the leaders having extended their winning run to 11 straight games in a tight 3-2 victory at Empoli. Plus, we say goodbye to 2024 with some… potentially unconventional picks for our best moments of the past 12 months. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend, festive plans and Christmas food (00.40) • PART 2: La Liga review - Sorloth stuns Barca and Mbappe finds his form (08.45) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - damaged Donnarumma and Coupe de France upsets (21.25) • PART 4: Bundesliga review - Bayern and Leverkusen bag five before die Winterpause (31.10) • PART 5: Serie A review - De Ketelaere stars as Napoli keep up the pace (34.55) • PART 6: Moments of 2024 - judo, comebacks and Knights (45.15) Hosted on Acast. Inter hit Lazio for six as Barca lose again in La Liga

Jimbo’s joined by his continental crew - James Horncastle, Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús and Seb Stafford-Bloor - to look back on the latest week of action from across Europe. Atletico Madrid took advantage of their faltering rivals Barcelona and Real with a 1-0 win over Getafe to move level on points with Hansi Flick’s side at the top of the table - and with a game in hand. It’s just as exciting over in Italy, with Atalanta flying high after their historic 10th consecutive league win. Napoli got back to winning ways to sit two points behind, while Inter also kept up the pressure with a statement 6-0 win over Lazio on Monday night. In the Bundesliga Bayern tasted defeat for the first time courtesy of a lacklustre 2-1 loss at bogey side Mainz, meaning Leverkusen closed the gap to four points courtesy of a 2-0 win at Augsburg. Plus, are Leipzig in the process of getting their season back on track? And in Ligue 1, PSG remain unbeaten and sit seven points ahead of the rest of the pack after their 3-1 win over Lyon. PSG are on their worst run of the season - three games without a win in all competitions and just one goal scored. They gear up for a crucial Champions League meeting with Salzburg, while in Ligue 1 Marseille and Monaco closed the gap at the top to five points. Serie A has a new leader - with Atalanta taking advantage of Napoli’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Lazio to move two points clear at the summit courtesy of their own 2-1 win over Milan. So, could Gasperini’s men get the better of Real Madrid in their European showdown on Tuesday night in Bergamo? In the Bundesliga Dortmund warmed up for their midweek meeting with Barcelona by drawing 1-1 with Gladbach, while Bayern Munich’s lead at the top of the table stands at six points following their 4-2 win over Heidenheim. And in La Liga Barcelona’s slump in form continued with a 2-2 draw at Betis - meaning Real and Atleti are breathing down their necks, both with games in hand over Hansi Flick’s men. It was Diego Simeone’s side who picked up the most dramatic result of the weekend, coming back from 3-1 down with an hour played to win 4-3 against Sevilla. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend and Champions League previews - (00.45) • PART 2: Ligue 1 review - Goal-shy PSG flatter to deceive - (13.00) • PART 3: Serie A review - Atalanta take top spot as Lazio get the better of Napoli (twice) - (23.25) • PART 4: Bundesliga review - Marco Rose spared as Bayern go six points clear - (37.55) • PART 5: La Liga review - Atleti win nine in a row as Barca slip up again - (50.00) Hosted on Acast. Could This Be Atalanta's Year? Plus Spurs Vs. Chelsea Chaos and Dan Ashworth Leaves Man Utd.

Musa and Ryan begin with a quick shout for LA Galaxy’s first MLS Cups in 10 years, after their 2-1 win over New York Red Bulls on the weekend, before heading to Europe, where there are title races aplenty. They begin in Italy (4:14), where Atalanta’s 2-1 win over Milan took them top of the table, thanks also to Lazio’s win in Naples—and wonder whether this could be the year for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to win their first Scudetto. Next up, Atleti are tiptoeing their way to the top (11:30), as they and Real Madrid closed the gap with Barcelona in La Liga, plus a quick shout for the Bundesliga (15:43). Finally, they chat about the Premier League’s stop-start weekend (18:10), when Liverpool sat back and watched a number of their rivals drop points. Chelsea were the only challengers not to do so, winning another chaotic game against Spurs (26:52), this time 4-3. There is also a shout-out for another huge Nottingham Forest result and some chat about the departure of Dan Ashworth as Manchester United sporting director (35:15), after just five months in the role. Serie A Title Race / Top Four Race

It's a very exciting season in Italy, with multiple teams in touching distance of first place and no obvious favorite yet in December. We walk through Napoli, Atalanta, Inter, Fiorentina, Juventus, Lazio and Milan. Support the show

Barcelona falter again while Atalanta win eight in a row

Pol Ballús, Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford Bloor and James Horncastle are alongside Jimbo for your weekly fix of continental action. La Liga is getting rather interesting all of a sudden, as Barcelona fell to a shock 2-1 defeat by Las Palmas - their first victory away at Barca since 1971! Real Madrid took full advantage and bounced back from their midweek Champions League disappointment at Anfield with a 2-0 win over Getafe. It means they’re just a point behind Hansi Flick’s side with a game in hand. But who’s that in third and just a point further behind… a resurgent Atlético Madrid?! Atalanta are showing they mean business in Serie A this season as they recorded their eighth straight win in all competitions with a 2-0 victory at Roma on Monday night. They’re just a point behind leaders Napoli, who were 1-0 winners at Torino thanks to Scott McTominay’s first half strike. But there were scary scenes in Fiorentina as their match with Inter was suspended and then abandoned when Edoardo Bove collapsed in the 16th minute. Thankfully the news since has been positive after receiving treatment in hospital. It ended 1-1 in Der Klassiker between Dortmund and Bayern on Saturday evening, but there’s concern for Harry Kane who went off early with what appeared to be a hamstring injury. Eintracht Frankfurt were big 4-0 winners in Heidenheim on Sunday to close the gap on Bayern at the top of the table to four points. And in Ligue 1, PSG’s poor week continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Nantes - the first time they’ve come from behind to take a point all season. But despite dropping points Luis Enrique’s side are seven points clear at the top of the table - and have Marseille to thank following their 2-1 win over Monaco. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend and latest on Edoardo Bove - (00.45) • PART 2: Bundesliga review - Dortmund and Bayern share the spoils as Leipzig’s horror season continues (13.00) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Disgruntlement in Paris as PSG held (26.40) • PART 4: La Liga review - Barcelona’s mini slump continues while Real and Atleti close the gap (37.40) • PART 5: Serie A review - Napoli’s slender win keeps them ahead of a charging Atalanta (50.30) Hosted on Acast. Is Serie A the most electrifying league in Europe?

Ahead of this weekend’s games the top five teams in Italy are separated by just one point. Added to that, the last five seasons have seen four different clubs end as champions. So, why is Serie A so competitive and it is Europe’s most entertaining league? The Athletic's James Horncastle joins Ayo Akinwolere to discuss the start to the Italian season with Jordan Campbell also dropping by having recently written for The Athletic about The Scots thriving in Italy. Host: Ayo Akinwolere With: James Horncastle and Jordan Campbell Executive Producer: Adey Moorhead Producer: Guy Clarke Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Liverpool take on Real Madrid as Napoli spoil Ranieri’s return

Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford Bloor and James Horncastle join Jimbo for a look ahead to matchday five in the Champions League - and a look back on the return to domestic action across Europe. All eyes on Anfield on Wednesday night as Real Madrid take on old friends Liverpool - having got right back into things in the La Liga title race with their commanding 3-0 win over Leganes which leaves them just four points behind leaders Barcelona with a game in hand. That’s after Hansi Flick’s side saw a two-goal lead slip away in their draw at Celta Vigo ahead of Tuesday night’s meeting with Brest. It’s still incredibly tight at the top in Serie A, with Napoli beating Roma 1-0 to spoil Claudio Ranieri’s first match back in charge - thanks to a goal from a certain Romelu Lukaku. The less said about Milan 0-0 Juventus the better as Thiago Motta’s side continue to uninspire with a trip to Villa Park looming on Wednesday… Bayern Munich and Harry Kane continue to lead the charge in the Bundesliga after their 3-0 win over Augsburg - but do they need a statement win against PSG to show their credentials? Plus, a big win for Dortmund on the pitch against Freiburg - but drama at their AGM off it. And in Ligue 1, PSG warmed up for that trip to the Allianz Arena with a 3-0 win over Toulouse - so can they finally translate their domestic dominance into a much-needed victory in the Champions League? Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend & standout Champions League ties (00.45) • PART 2: La Liga review - Real close the gap ahead of Anfield visit (08.35) • PART 3: Serie A review - Napoli maintain slender lead as Juventus underwhelm (19.40) • PART 4: Bundesliga review - Kane breaks yet more records as Dortmund drama continues (36.35) • PART 5: Ligue 1 review - PSG gear up for Bayern visit and Marseille go off grid (46.45) Hosted on Acast. An incredible Serie A title race, while Real close the gap on Barca

Jimbo’s got Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and James Horncastle alongside him for a deep dive into a fascinating weekend of action across the continent. It’s fair to say the Serie A title race is hotting up, with just two points separating Napoli in first and Juventus in sixth! That’s after Inter and Napoli shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the San Siro, while Atalanta, Fiorentina, Lazio and Juve all picked up big wins. Real Madrid clawed back some ground in the La Liga title race after their 4-0 win over Osasuna which included a hat-trick for Vinicius, a first goal of the season for Jude Bellingham - and a devastating injury for Eder Militao. They’re now six points behind Barcelona with a game in hand after Hansi Flick’s side fell to only their second league defeat of the season at Real Sociedad in controversial circumstances... Bayern Munich find themselves five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table after their 1-0 win over St Pauli courtesy of Jamal Musiala's sensational strike. Meanwhile, Dortmund’s horror start to the season rumbled on with a 3-1 defeat at Mainz - and Leverkusen’s week to forget continued as they were held by Bochum. And in Ligue 1, it’s business as usual for PSG who continued their unbeaten start to the season in a 4-2 win over Angers. Not such smooth sailing for Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille, beaten 3-1 by newly promoted Auxerre at the Velodrome which prompted the former Brighton boss to say he’ll ‘leave the money and hand back my contract’. *** We’ve been nominated for Podcast of the Year at the 2024 Football Supporters’ Association Awards! Musa and Ryan begin with some fun grassroots football chat before turning their attention to Serie A (06.03), where just two points separate the top six. They start off by chatting about Inter and Napoli’s 1-1 draw at San Siro, thanks to goals from Scott McTominay and a Hakan Çalhanoğlu thunderbolt. They then head to the Premier League, where Liverpool’s win over Aston Villa took them five points clear (21:16), an impressive Brighton ensured Manchester City’s poor run continues (29:09), Ipswich and Wolves got their first league wins of the season, and it ended all square at Stamford Bridge. We’ve reached the halfway stage of the Champions League league phase, with some tasty matchday four ties to preview including Inter v Arsenal, Liverpool v Leverkusen and PSG v Atléti. Domestically, it was a reduced schedule in Spain following the devastating flash floods in Valencia. We discuss the reaction to any football at all being played following the natural disaster - which included Barcelona's derby win over Espanyol. It means Inter are just a point off top spot in Serie A as they closed the gap thanks to a 1-0 victory over strugglers Venezia. In Ligue 1, PSG extended their lead to six points thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over Lens to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign. After being unbeaten since April, it’s now back-to-back defeats for Monaco as Adi Hütter’s men slipped to third following their 1-0 defeat by Angers. And in the Bundesliga, Dortmund picked up a precious three points for beleaguered manager Nuri Şahin as they inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Leipzig. Big week for Barcelona as they battle Bayern & Real Madrid

Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and James Horncastle are back with Jimbo to reflect on another busy weekend of European action - and look ahead to matchday three in the Champions League. In La Liga, Barcelona put five past Sevilla while Real Madrid extended their unbeaten league run to 42 games ahead of a tantalising El Clásico coming up on Saturday night when Los Blancos could equal the record - set by Barca no less! But there’s a stern test for Hansi Flick to navigate in midweek first - with their nemesis and his former side Bayern Munich in town… Speaking of, Harry Kane was back to scoring ways (after a whole three games without a goal) as he bagged a hat-trick in Bayern’s 4-0 win over Stuttgart to warm up for the trip to Spain in style. There were also Bundesliga wins for Leverkusen and Dortmund - who continue to bewilder with their mixed form under Nuri Sahin as they prepare to face Real Madrid in a rematch of this summer’s Champions League final. It was a weekend of fine margins over in Italy, with Napoli, Inter, Milan and Juventus all winning 1-0. A bad week for Bayern and PSG, plus penalty saves galore!

Jimbo’s got James Horncastle, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Julien Laurens and Pol Ballús alongside him to recap the latest action from across the continent. Serie A saw goals AND penalty saves aplenty - with David de Gea snatching the headlines in Fiorentina’s victory over Milan while Marcus Thuram and Mateo Retegui both bagging hat-tricks in big wins for Inter and Torino. Speaking of hat-tricks, Robert Lewandowski rolled back the years as he scored three of his own as Barcelona cruised to victory against Alaves. They’ve got a three-point advantage over Real Madrid - who are battling injury and personnel issues but won against an impressive Villarreal side. Oh, and Paulo Gazzaniga managed a remarkable feat between the sticks… In Germany there was late drama at Deutsche Bank Park as Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich drew 3-3, while Bayer Leverkusen let a two-goal lead slip as Holstein Kiel came from behind to earn an unlikely point. PSG’s difficult week continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Nice - leaving Monaco clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table after their 2-1 win at Rennes. Elsewhere Lille backed up their Real Madrid Champions League triumph by beating Toulouse 2-1. Produced by Lucy Oliva.
