Despite a William Saliba mid-game software update and a Bukayo Saka penalty malfunction… Arsenal have bloody done it! Luke and Vish react to a comfortable night for Mikel Arteta’s men at the Bernabeu and explain why this is already his greatest achievement as a manager to date. Ohhh, Villa! Marcus, Luke, Jim and Vish recap one of the craziest European games you’ll ever see, as Unai Emery almost Europa League’d his way past PSG and into the Champions League semi-finals. But, the biggest shock of the night? Barcelona’s shorts. No wonder they lost comprehensively at Dortmund (still went through, tho). On the first of two Clash of the Correspondents this week James is joined by Ipswich Town fan Paul Gaught-Allen and Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Sunday's Double Gameweek 33 meeting at Portman Road. Arsenal assets will be popular this week for FPL managers, they are faced with arguably the most attractive fixtures in the Gameweek, but with the Champions League now clearly the priority with the Premier League title chase gone are they actually worth investing in? There's particular concern for those looking at long-term investment but also cautious warnings about the immediate Double, which those intending to go Mikel Arteta with the Assistant Manger Chip or/and Bulayo Saka with the captaincy should take particular note of. Should it be double defence or double attack for Free Hitters? There's discussion on all the important Arsenal FPL assets. Ipswich may not appeal for now, but they may well have the best final 4 fixtures, could the likes of Liam Delap appeal for late Wildcarders? And what are the prospects for 3.8 defender Ben Johnson, a scorer at Chelsea at the weekend, and playing on the right of midfield? And, there's discussion on The Gunners chances in the Champions League, what may happen to Ipswich next season and what can bridge the gap between The Championship and the Premier League. Marcus and Jim had barely fired up the telly before Antoine Semenyo’s cracking opener gave Bournemouth an early lead. And… that was it. There was still plenty to get stuck into though, with the Sky Sports microphones picking up plenty of fruity language from a few Fulham fans nearby and the officials making a truly baffling substitution error that forced Ryan Sessegnon off. We also assess the prospective fortunes of both sides as they push for Europe and wonder where their coaches might be managing next season. We’re going on tour! Later, Christian and Alexis break down the newest Italian gambling probe that includes the UMSNT’s own Weston McKennie.

Man United vs Lyon wasn’t exactly high quality. So much so that Marcus, Andy and Jim wonder whether both sides can go out. At least Nemanja Matić put in a performance in the press conference that even José Mourinho would be proud of. Jimmy Conrad, Charlie Davies, and Tony Meola welcome MLS Next Technical Director Luis Robles to the show to unpack the newly-unveiled Quality of Play rankings. As the architect behind the pilot program, Luis breaks down the thinking, methodology, and long-term vision driving this bold shift in how youth player development is assessed in America. Coming on the heels of Tab Ramos' pointed criticism—calling the initiative “cookies for nice passes”—Luis addresses the skepticism head-on. How exactly is “quality” being defined? Can this model produce better professionals—or just more robotic players? And what role does US Soccer play in shaping the future of American talent? Plus, is AC Milan the right club for Yunus Musah? The Poch-led USMNT fails magnificently in its first real test, fails to meet the standard set under Berhalter, which is all pretty ironic. Greg and Belz break it down, try to identify 2-3 intriguing plot-lines as we limp toward 2026. We need those fullbacks back. The World Cup won't be like this tournament was. No way.

Another game, another loss. Andrew and JJ share their thoughts on what was a disastrous international window for the USMNT. Is it an issue of not enough talent? Is it an issue of not enough heart and desire? Someone help us understand why this is happening! Plus, we go even deeper and wonder about the current state of soccer in America as we move closer and closer to next summer's World Cup. Thomas Tuchel’s first international break as England manager is over. He’s given us two “professional” wins against inferior opposition and some chat about maybe playing 4-4-2. Have we fully indoctrinated him into the English way already? Marcus and Jim resist starting a chorus of Vindaloo, however, they do mull over that and try to work out what we’ve learned about Tuchel’s England so far. We’re going on tour! Thomas Tuchel had a dig at Gareth Southgate, claiming England played with no identity last summer, more focused on avoiding elimination than chasing glory. Ouch. But is it even possible to play "exciting" football at international level? Marcus, Jim & Pete debate that on this week's Mailbag. Plus, does Jim Ratcliffe have a point when he talks about prioritising Manchester United's "faithful" supporters? We’re going on tour! Get your tickets now: https://footballramblelive.com. Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad selection has raised a few eyebrows, most notably the inclusion of both Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker. During media duties this week, the England manager put an emphasis on physicality and pressing, a tactic not commonly associated with international football. He also voiced that he felt England were more afraid to drop out of Euro 2024 than having the hunger and excitement to win it. So is Tuchel's first squad a step forward or step back, and can his more proactive style of management win England the World Cup? Host: Matt Davies-Adams With: Jack Pitt-Brooke, Tim Spiers Executive Producer: Adey Moorhead Producer: Jay Beale Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Today, a new era begins. Marcus, Jim and Pete usher in the start of the Thomas Tuchel regime. Plus, Jim witnesses another Arsenal injury and Alexis Mac Allister shares his favourite hobby. Maybe he WOULD get on with Pete... We’re going on tour!
