It was Group of Death day at the Euros on Tuesday, with Portugal taking on Hungary and a mighty clash between France and Germany. The Tifo team analyse the interesting themes of the day. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Matt Davies-Adams, Duncan Alexander and Dom Fifield react to a day of record-breaking goals and record-breaking passes at Euro 2020. The Tartan Army’s return to tournament football is an unhappy one as Patrick Schick inspires Czech Republic to victory from the halfway line. Did Scotland prove they are genuinely unlucky? Or are they just not clinical enough? Sweden channel their inner Palace to stifle Spain and draw 0-0 in Seville. Alexander Isak looks the real deal, Alvaro Morata – not so much. Slovakia overcome Poland who continue to struggle for goals at major tournaments, even with Lewandowski. France face Germany on Tuesday – with the Mbappe Giroud spat stealing focus, is there a chance Les Bleus could implode? And Hungary will face Portugal in front of 60,000 fans in Budapest. Tomasz Mortimer tells us how far the national side have come in a short period of time. Thomas Tracksuit Tuchel got his revenge on Leicester with a seismic win in the race for next season's Champions League. That being said, Kelechi Iheanacho completed a perfect goalscoring week with a game to spare, which is indeed the real quiz. Marcus, Vish and Pete also celebrate the return of fans, with Brighton snatching a great win from under Pep Guardiola's massive cigar and Edinson Cavani dispatching an absolute beauty against Fulham. There's even time to toast the imminent departure of Roy the Boy Hodgson and the return of Karim Benzema, whose thirty domestic goals and iced out Rolex helped him earn another France call-up. Jimbo and the Euro crew of James Horncastle, Rafa Honigstein, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo take apart another dramatic weekend across the continent. Lille are closing in on a first title in 10 years as we pay tribute to their recruitment. Meanwhile PSG are purchasing Prince vinyl. Bayern Munich are champions of Germany again and have their eyes on 10 in a row. Can Lewandowski break Gerd Muller’s Bundesliga goals record this season? Dortmund are back in the top 4 thanks to their saviour Sancho. Is he still underrated outside of Germany? Milan destroy a Juventus team who are jaded and playing without purpose. Will they miss out on the top 4 and lose Ronaldo? Or could they even be thrown out of Serie A? And the top 4 in Spain all go head to head. But will it be head to head that decides the title? So much football! Musa and Ryan begin in France, with Lille coming from two goals down to beat Lyon and return to the top of Ligue 1 after PSG’s win had pushed them ahead just 24 hours before (05:36). While the title is pretty much wrapped up in the Bundesliga, Mainz made Bayern wait a bit longer to confirm it (11:24), winning 2-1, and there’s a heap of praise for the job Bo Svensson is doing, plus chat about the Champions League spots with Dortmund closing the gap. In Spain, it’s chaos in Sevilla as they and Granada finish the game before returning to play one more minute, and Atleti are doing their best not to win the title (24:07). There’s also a very quick roundup of Serie A and the Premier League (36:45), plus chat about Man City’s fourth League Cup in a row (41:00) and the first legs of the Women’s Champions League semifinals (46:34). Quiet weekend, wasn't it? Kris and Phil look back over a sometimes baffling week, in which both PSGs can thank the away goals rule for their progression to the Champions League semi-finals - the men after a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich at the Parc des Prince, the women after knocking out seven-time trophy winners Lyon with a 2-1 away win. As well as that there were a couple of five-goal thrillers featuring very late winners in Ligue 1, as Kris' Lorient succumbed to OM at the Velodrome 3-2 with a double from Pol Lirola cancelling out ditto from Terem Moffi, and PSG v Saint-Etienne being probably the most exciting last 15 minutes of the season ending in a 96th minute winner from Mauro Icardi as the hosts also won 3-2. We have a midweek Coupe de France round for the quarter-finals and an interesting weekend coming up which finishes with Lyon v Lille in a key game for the title race. Also - yes, we went there - the recently announced 'European Super League' (other super leagues are available) causes sadness, anger, confusion, and Phil talking about EU corporate law, even though no French teams are involved in it...yet.

PSG beat Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champion's League Quarter Finals, all the top four won, we have two fourth-tier teams in the Coupe de France Quarter Finals, and it turns out the French women's team are fine without most of the OL contingent. Kris, Jez and Phil round up a week of interesting developments across multiple competitions.

We had a little international / Easter break of our own, so Kris, Jez and Phil have a lot to round up this week. France drew with Ukraine and beat Kazakhstan and Bosnia-Herzogovina in World Cup qualifying, and the U21s lost to Denmark and beat Russia and Iceland to progress to the quarter-finals of the Euros. Then we had a key set of games on Saturday in Ligue 1 as Lille beat PSG, Monaco beat Metz and Lyon drew at Lens to throw the top of the table into a spin, and elsewhere there were concussions, penalties, red cards and much more besides.

Jimbo is joined by Rafa Honigstein, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo to look ahead to some mouth-watering Champions League quarter-finals. Liverpool travel to Madrid to face a Ramos-less Real. Will the Reds go with 4 up front? Man City host Dortmund, who lose a massive game against Eintracht Frankfurt in the race for the top 4. The Haaland camp have been meeting Barcelona and Real Madrid. Can anyone afford him this summer? And will missing out on Champions League football see Sancho leave Dortmund in this next transfer window? Pochettino is feeling the pressure as PSG lose to leaders Lille in France. Next up, it’s Bayern Munich in a rematch of last year’s final. Will Verratti be a bigger absentee than Lewandowski? Also on Wednesday, Juventus play Napoli in Serie A, a game with plenty of previous, with major implications for the top 4. And Real Sociedad win the first ever Basque Copa Del Rey final, with their manager in particular enjoying it. But there’s another regrettable racism row involving Valencia and Cadiz in La Liga. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1a: Moment of the weekend (02m 30s) • PART 1b: Real Madrid v Liverpool preview (06m 40s) • PART 1c: Man City v Dortmund preview (13m 40s) • PART 2: Real Sociedad win the Basque cup final (23m 00s) • PART 3: Bayern v PSG preview (29m 00s) • PART 4: Serie A, Europa League & your questions (41m 43s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC FOR £4 A MONTH: • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow PARISH NOTICES: • we’re sponsored by Paddy Power - home of the Money Back Special READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com. COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy are getting ready for their preseason to ramp up. They've got a handful of games lined up, and this Saturday, we'll finally get a good look at what they might look like when Spectrum SportsNet broadcasts their match against the New England Revolution. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter want to get you ready for this week of training and what hurdles the Galaxy still have to clear. The guys will start by attempting to learn something from the two 60-minute scrimmages the club held against USL side San Diego Loyal. But with a starting lineup devoid of, well, starters, there is probably a reasoning Greg Vanney kept most of the big names off the field. But what does it say that Mauricio Cuevas and Auggie Williams keep making an impact on the first team with the minutes they're getting? Josh and Kevin will also talk about the four players away on International Duty and what that means for the Galaxy as they already face some severe shortages on the roster. But this week is the week to see Sebastian Lletget, Jonathan dos Santos, and Efrain Alvarez play for the senior national teams, and you might even get Julian Araujo in one of the biggest matches of his young career. With the roster showing many holes in the preseason scrimmage, what are the Galaxy doing about it? And how optimistic are Josh and Kevin when it comes to the job the Galaxy have done? Where are the upgrades to the team from last year? There's some roster judgment going on, and the Galaxy aren't getting a passing grade -- not yet, anyway. Finally, the guys discuss how a 90-mile circle will make your preseason game watching a lot more difficult thanks to some stupid MLS rules, and how a rumor out of France has the Galaxy dipping their toes into the under-22 rule. Is this the change that could bring some exciting development money into the league? It's a packed show for a Monday night, and we're glad you could join us! - SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ - COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P - COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP

Game 30 of Ligue 1 saw some movement at the top, as Lille lost unexpectedly to Nimes, and PSG won away at Lyon. With the top and bottom of the table (barring Dijon) as tight as ever, Kris, Jez and Phil look back at all the weekend's action, an unexpectedly early Coupe de France quarter final, and the upcoming international break.

It was a weekend full of big performances in key games, so Musa and Ryan begin with Lotte Wubben-Moy securing a crucial win for Arsenal over Casey Stoney’s Manchester United in the WSL (05:52). Martin Ødegaard drove Arsenal to a comeback against a very impressive West Ham at the London Stadium (12:33), while Spurs and Brighton picked up very important wins (22:26). During recording, news broke linking Xabi Alonso with the Gladbach vacancy (24:23), which they discuss before chatting about the rest of the Bundesliga (30:51), including Robert Lewandowski closing in on Gerd Müller’s record of 40 goals in a single league season, Hertha picking up a hugely important win over Leverkusen, who themselves are in a tricky run of form. Sergiño Dest got two for Barça in their 6-1 win at Real Sociedad (41:43), whereas Atleti scraped through against Alavés to maintain its lead at the top of La Liga. In France, PSG went top (50:08) and in Italy, Juventus were upset by an old goalscorer (53:26). Learn more about your ad choices. Jimbo, James Horncastle, Rafa Honigstein, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo are back ahead of some mouth-watering Champions League second legs. Dortmund prepare for Sevilla by losing a classic Klassiker. Pirlo’s Juventus face a season-defining fixture against Porto. And can Leipzig add to Liverpool’s misery? No Ligue 1 action but the Coupe de France delivers with amateurs beating professionals left and right. Marseille are the highest profile casualties. Julien Stephan has resigned from Rennes, Jacques-Henri Eyraud has left Marseille, Jorge Sampaoli is coming in, Bordeaux could be up for sale and their captain Laurent Koscielny has had some strong words about the state of the club - there's a lot going on in Ligue 1. Kris, Jez and Phil work their way through the comings and goings, the form and the title race (still on, at time of writing), before a midweek round that could be crucial for the standings, and a weekend of Coupe de France action to come.

Inter are victorious in the Milan derby, led by a rampant Romelu Lukaku. Is it their Scudetto to lose? Bayern lose at Eintracht Frankfurt to inject new life into Leipzig and the Bundesliga title race. Next up for the Bavarians, it’s Ciro Immobile’s Lazio in the Champions League. Atletico lose for only the second time this season, as Levante leave Madrid with all 3 points. Are Simeone’s side there for the taking by Chelsea this week? We also look ahead to the mouth-watering clash between Atalanta & Real Madrid, and ask could PSG not only miss out on the title in France but on Champions League qualification as well? Plus Sancho joins the ranks of Barton and McClaren. And Ibra’s off to perform at a music festival. France's European teams had differing fortunes, as the title race looks ever more like a four-way fight. Kris, Jez and Phil review PSG's comprehensive win over Barcelona and Lille's defeat against Ajax, before returning to home territory for goalkeeping ricks, catch-up games, the managerial merry-go-round, and Kris' attempts to pronounce the teams in the draw for the Coupe de France 16emes.

Kris, Jez and Phil round up the Ligue trouser of the Coupe de France 32emes where there were three 'upsets', before moving on to the weekend's Ligue 1 action which saw PSG win 2-1 against Nice but the rest of the top four all drop points. A turning point in the title race, or a coincidence that lends more weight to individually understandable results?

Paris Saint-Germain might be without their Brazilian striker Neymar for next week's clash with Barcelona within the Champions League. The 29-year-old went off injured against Caen in their French Cup game on Wednesday night, which throws into doubt his involvement within the Barca game next Tuesday. Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar could miss next week’s Champions League tie with Barcelona. The 29-year-old Brazilian striker had to go away the pitch injured during his side’s French Cup game with Caen on Wednesday night.
