Kelly Cates is joined by Karen Carney and Jamie Redknapp as they analyse Brighton’s 3-1 win against Newcastle at the Amex, which saw Evan Ferguson score his first Premier League hat-trick. Redknapp believes the eighteen-year-old has elements of all the great Premier League strikers and has no doubt that he will be a superstar. Newcastle suffered their third straight defeat and Redknapp feels something is not quite right with their midfield, suggesting that Sean Longstaff could help resolve that potential problem. Player of the match Evan Ferguson and Billy Gilmour, who also impressed, give their reaction after the win. Both managers also give their views with Roberto De Zerbi hailing the win as one of his best as a manager, whilst Eddie Howe felt the scoreline was not a fair reflection of his players’ performance but did concede that they are having an issue with converting the chances they create. In the final part, Carney and Redknapp look ahead to the Super Sunday match between old foes, Arsenal and Manchester United as well as reflecting on some of the earlier results that happened on Saturday. Kelly Cates presents Super Sunday from St. James' Park alongside Jamie Carragher, Shay Given, and Andros Townsend, and they discussed and analysed the major talking points from Liverpool's dramatic 2-1 win against Newcastle which was delivered by two late goals from substitute Darwin Nunez. The visitors' victory was made even more impressive as they played the majority of the game with ten players after Virgil Van Dijk was dismissed shortly after Anthony Gordon gave the hosts the lead. Carragher labelled the victory as one of Jurgen Klopp’s best victories as a manager. Van Dijk’s red card wasn’t the only moment of controversy as Trent Alexander-Arnold was involved in two separate incidents early in the first half but avoided a second yellow card. Both Carra and Given agreed that the full-back should have been sent off. Carragher also said Liverpool can challenge Manchester City this season and be their biggest rivals again but they need to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes on Friday. Speaking with Pat Davison after the match, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe felt the match could have been more comfortable had his players been more ruthless in front of goal, whilst Jurgen Klopp said that the result was even harder than their famous 4-0 home win over Barcelona in 2019, that saw them overturn a three-goal deficit on aggregate to reach the Champions League final.
