It's West v North London on Clash of the Correspondents this week as James is joined by Chelsea fan Gary Mantle and Tottenham Hotspur fan Ricky Saunders to discuss managers, expectations and FPL ahead of next Thursday's GW30 meeting at Stamford Bridge. Both managers are under scrutiny with Chelsea fans seemingly split at the moment on Enzo Maresca, with form inconsistent, and qualification for next season's Champions League in the balance. And is it win the Europa League or bust for Ange Postecoglu? It's beginning to feel like it might be. That makes investment in Tottenham players in FPL awkward with the Europa clearly the priority, but with many FPL managers set to Wildcard in GW31 and with Tottenham then facing Southampton and Wolves is there something that can be punted on? There's coverage of Chelsea assets too, with their next 3 looking good for the potential the attacking players, but Christopher Nkunku remains inconsistent, Nicolas Jackson has been a huge miss, and Cole Palmer hasn't scored since Jackson got injured. Is Palmer's injury and form cause for genuine concern? On the opening of Clash of the Correspondents for 2024/25 James is joined by Wolves fan Bradley Parker and Chelsea fan Gary Mantle to discuss current matters and FPL assets at their clubs ahead of Sunday's meeting at Molineux. As the closure of the transfer window approaches both clubs are in very different positions. Despite recouping close to £100m after the sales of Max Kilman and Pedro Neto (to Chelsea) the club reportedly only have £20m to invest; whilst at Chelsea the spending continues and more can be expected before the transfer window shuts, but the club is trying to sell several players with up to 15 reportedly told they don't have a future at the club and that includes Raheem Sterling. There's discussion on what Chelsea can expect from Neto and what may now be their strongest line-up and where Wolves may look to spend what is available to improve their current squad. Plus, FPL discussions feature a strong interest in Chelsea assets with a good fixture list on the horizon. The Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer debate is re-evaluated and if they can be trusted defensively to invest. But The Blues recent record at Wolves is not good, and might the best FPL investment defensively from the two clubs be in the home side? The Final Day of Correspondent Week kicks off with Gary Mantle joining James to discuss FPL assets and expectations for Chelsea under new manager Enzo Maresca and a period that should be full of enthusiasm has quickly evaporated due to some chaotic performances in pre-season and further strange transfer dealings. There's conversation on Maresca's intended tactics, what's been going wrong and there's an analysis of the transfer business which continues to leave many Chelsea fans concerned. Plus, Cole Palmer has received the highest ever price rise in FPL after finishing last season as the top points scorer. but currently there are many questions mark as to where exactly he will play in the new system. Therefore should a 4.0 saving be made by investing in Christopher Nkunku? And there's a run through of the squad to see if there are any more FPL assets to consider such as one of the 4.5 defenders, Noni Madueke, or a refreshed Raheem Sterling. But predicting the starting eleven for Gameweek 1 proves a very difficult challenge. At least the fixtures are good... or are they...? Gary Mantle joins James for a particularly important Correspondent Week Podcast on Chelsea who are now managed by former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and have a number of important and interesting FPL assets that appeal, particularly ahead of a critical fixture swing in Gameweek 3. But Christopher Nkunku ‘might’ be injured, should he be fit he is still very much worth considering, but so to is the slightly cheaper Nicolas Jackson. Reece James vs Ben Chilwell, which is best for investment? Or should 4.5 Levi Colwill take Fantasy managers defensive investment? Or should, with concerns about depth in midfield, Chelsea’s defence be avoided all together? Plus, 4.5 midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka looks set to start in GW1, is he one of the 8 Chelsea players Gary thinks (subject to fitness) are locked to start vs Liverpool?
