Creativity? The Galaxy need Vazquez back, Grandsir as a starter, and a lot more of Joveljic.

- SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ - COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P - COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy came out flat against Real Salt Lake on Saturday afternoon. The lack of creativity in this lineup is starting to show itself. And while Kevin Cabral had been firmly in the crosshairs before this game, he cemented his position and started to drag Douglas Costa and Efrain Alvarez with him. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's lack of creativity and why they think this club will need something different. Either that's getting Victor Vazquez back and healthy or by going out and grabbing a CAM in the summer transfer window. But like so much of this early season, this show will revolve around Cabral's inability to make an impact on the game and why Dejan Joveljic is the hot hand that needs more playing time. Will Vanney's defensive balance be thrown away by the club in favor of more scoring? Or does it make more sense to get Joveljic minutes in place of the biggest goal-scoring threat for the Galaxy? What do you make of two Designated Players that are injury prone and two Designated Players that have shown relatively little in the way of production in the goals or assists category? We've got an entire show of discussions on formations, chances created, and expected goals — all hoping to get the best players on the field for LA. Thanks for joining us!

Who are the Galaxy afraid of? It shouldn't be Real Salt Lake.

PODCAST: Who are the Galaxy afraid of? It shouldn't be Real Salt Lake. - SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ - COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P - COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- Have your views on the LA Galaxy shifted? Is there any team that the Galaxy should be afraid of? And looking at the schedule, do you see anyone who should cause the Galaxy problems? Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira are back to discuss the Galaxy's psychological change and why you should be feeling confident heading into their match with Real Salt Lake this weekend. They guys will start by continuing the Dejan Joveljic conversation. They'll play audio from Greg Vanney that gives his side of the Joveljic debate, and they'll talk about Kevin Cabral's benching and why it should probably continue. Plus, there's more tactical talk regarding the slight shift in formation that Vanney made against Nashville. Josh and Eric will also discuss the Galaxy's Open Cup game and why it should be a fantastic time in a small stadium. So maybe try to be on your best behavior? It's not every day in the United States we get these kinds of experiences. And the guys will also talk about a nearly $30 bowl of chicken and waffle fries that has Twitter a-stir. Is the food too expensive at the stadium? Are you simply a captive audience. Are you being milked by the Galaxy? Finally, Josh and Eric will get you ready for the Galaxy's match against Real Salt Lake. They're a team that is hard to figure out. Will the Galaxy be playing against the team that lost 6-0 to New York City? Or against the team that lost to a lower level in the Open Cup? Or the team that just drew Portland and has beaten Nashville? We've got a great show for you. And as always, we're so thankful you decided to join us!

The Shouts for Dejan get louder. The Galaxy grind out a win over Nashville.

But there's a bigger question being asked of Greg Vanney. And like usual, that question revolves around Kevin Cabral and how he can justify playing a winger who seems incapable of scoring for a forward who's a pure finisher. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the issue now firmly in Vanney's hands and their takes on it. Josh and Kevin will also lean heavily into formation talk and analytics as they explain Vanney's reasoning behind the faith in Cabral and why the Galaxy's defense is more important than the Galaxy's offense right now. Plus, why is Sega Coulibaly the biggest surprise of the season, and how come he didn't get the "Team of the Week" nod over Williams? There's also some talk of Douglas Costa playing in a central attacking role and why this formation worked against a Nashville team that seemed allergic to possession and counter-attacking. Exactly how much possession did the Galaxy have in the second half? We've got a great show lined up for you that covers many different topics surrounding the Galaxy's win and their now eight games into the league. Are you a believer in the Galaxy's defense? And are you worried about the defense? As always, thanks for joining us on this very fun podcast. Can the Galaxy keep an undefeated streak in April with one game left?

Under the bright lights, Galaxy should be careful with Nashville - Open Cup Recap & Draw

It's under the lights at Dignity Health Sports Park, which means we're expecting fireworks! Your host Josh Guesman is joined by special co-host Spectrum SportsNet Galaxy sideline reporter Nikki Kay. Nikki makes her way back to the podcast in hosting duties for the second time and the first time in 2022. Josh and Nikki want to get you through the big takeaways from this week in Galaxy news. And they're going to start with the win in the US Open Cup. The San Diego Loyal put together a good showing against a Galaxy team that saw a couple of regulars in the mostly B-Team lineup. But Greg Vanney might have some explaining to do when Chicharito made an appearance deep into the second half. Are you okay with Vanney taking the Open Cup very seriously? And do you worry about the legs of certain players after the midweek tussle with Landon Donovan's side? Nikki will also update you on the Galaxy's media availability from today. And both Josh and Nikki will tell you what to expect from the Open Cup's next round and where the Galaxy will be off to (Irvine). Finally, your hosts will get you ready for the invasion from Nashville. Why is Dave Romney a threat to his old team? Why is Nashville more balanced than they've ever been? And why could the Galaxy exploit some speed and some shotty set-piece defending? We've got a bunch to cover on today's show. And we're delighted Nikki could join us. But we're ecstatic that you chose us to get you ready for this weekend.

Stop Sleeping on the Defense, Kevin! Galaxy battle anti-soccer Chicago.

No one should talk you out of that analysis. And if they do talk you out of it, have their sight checked. But you also can't simply dismiss what was a gutsy performance, played in challenging conditions, against a team that wanted to play anti-soccer more than score goals. So does that make you feel any better? Probably not. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's 0-0 draw with the Fire and discuss what this does for momentum and what it means in the long term. Are the Galaxy capable of being that no. 1 team? Or are they shrinking from every challenge at the top? Josh and Kevin both have very different views of what happened at Soldier Field, and the majority of this podcast will be them arguing about that. It's fun! But the guys are also talking about their live event on Saturday, the news that Michael Stephens is returning to the club as a Director of Scouting, and they're discussing the Galaxy's new local TV deal. Plus, there's a little focus on Landon Donovan's return to Los Angeles when his San Diego Loyal take on the Galaxy in their Open Cup match on Tuesday night. Is all the press on LA? Finally, the guys are cleaning up all the loose ends on Galaxy news and getting you pointed in the direction of Nashville on Saturday night. Can the Galaxy return to their winning ways against another solidly defensive team? We've got a great show all lined up for you. We hope you enjoy it.

Together, the guys discuss the Galaxy's quick start, how they're playing, and what they expect down the road. They also talk about players to watch for and what the game that took place immediately after the show might bring. We want to send out a big thank you to the LA Galaxy for inviting us out to the event. We're glad that we could meet so many of you, and hopefully, some of you are already new listeners!

They'll take on the Chicago Fire on Saturday in a game that could extend a very long streak for the Galaxy. Hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira are back to get you ready for that road game and catch you up on some Galaxy news and media calls you need to know before watching Saturday's game. Josh and Eric will start by hyping Saturday's live show. Josh and friends (Kevin Baxter, Christian Miles, and Sophie Nicolaou) will be out at the LA Galaxy Sports Complex for the LA Galaxy Block Party in Torrance for a special live show from 3:30 to 4:30 PM. Then they're going to stick around for the watch party where the Galaxy will take on the Fire. The guys will update you on where you can watch the game on Saturday and talk about why that's even a thing just two days from the local broadcast debut. Plus, there's an August 3rd money grab that needs to be explained. We'll tell you why the Galaxy will get to make history at SoFi stadium and why everyone should be concerned about the security implications of putting four powerful fan groups into the same stadium for a double-header. Are you going to SoFi? And should the Galaxy play an A-team lineup? And what does this have to do with future El Trafico's and the 2026 World Cup? Finally, the guys will get you caught up on the joint media call and what you can expect from a defensively sound Chicago side that isn't going to want to give an inch to the questionable Galaxy offense. We've got a packed show for you ahead of a big weekend for the club. As always, thanks for joining us!

Galaxy saved in El Trafico by max-effort players and VAR

And you always know the game's outcome is going to be unpredictable. It's wild and unpredictable. That's El Trafic in a single sentence. But were you prepared for Saturday night's finish? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the LA Galaxy win over LAFC and why a derby game is always going to be about who wanted it more. The guys will start by talking about their experience pregame and why they ate so much excellent food! We're looking at you, AFJA, and Vegan Hooligans! But the real exciting part of El Trafico started before kickoff. With a packed stadium, the Galaxy had a flyover and a wicked coin-toss laugh by Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez. Why was Hernandez laughing at Carlos Vela? Plus, Sam Grandsir, Raheem Edwards, Kelvin Leerdam, and others laid it all on the line against LAFC. And it almost fell apart. Why did Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney use five subs? Why did he take Araujo out? Why was the network passing chart so messed up without Mark Delgado? And who was mostly at fault for the Galaxy not getting that third goal? And don't you worry. There will be plenty of talking about the VAR call at the end. In fact, it's funny that it's mentioned so much because it was one of the most straightforward calls they could have made. And anyone arguing against it wants you to ignore two offside players both getting shots at the goal so that the injustice can wrongly be flipped to the Galaxy? Do we have your attention now? Finally, we'll get you updated on our Live Show at the LA Galaxy's Block Party (join us on Saturday), discuss the Galaxy's Open Cup game against San Diego, and discuss what the Galaxy is running into in Chicago this weekend.

The LA Galaxy are hosting the first El Trafico of the 2022 season, and Chicharito is rounding into form. But with LAFC undefeated in their first five games, are they the most significant threat they've ever been? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicholaou discuss one of the season's biggest games. And this year, it starts at Dignity Health Sports Park, with the Galaxy missing a key piece of their midfield. Josh and Sophie will get you caught up on the Galaxy news that dropped throughout the week. That includes a special chance to hang out with the podcast on April 16th. Stay tuned for more details. Your hosts discuss Disciplinary Committee decisions regarding Mark Delgado and why the Galaxy are absolutely targeting a center-back who is currently playing for Watford. But with eight CB's on the roster right now? Do the Galaxy have a hoarding problem? And why are we sure they're interested? Plus, Josh and Sophie want to compare and contrast the leadership differences between Carlos Vela and Javier Hernandez. Can what we observe from the outside be what is happening behind closed doors? Does Vela even like people? Finally, there's some in-depth conversation regarding the El Trafico. We'll throw a ton of stats your way, talk about the lack of experience with actual El Trafico's on the Galaxy side and tell you why Kevin Cabral is the key to unlocking the Galaxy's defense -- again! It's the most electric rivalry in Los Angeles, and treating it differently would be crazy. So when is the game moving to SoFi? We've got a great show for you, and we hope you stay safe and smart as you make your way to the stadium on Saturday!

Chaos, Red Cards, an LA Galaxy win, and Chicharito making defenders look bad

- SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ - COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P - COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy got a 3-1 victory over the Portland Timbers on Sunday afternoon in one of the craziest, most unpredictable games (in a bad way) in recent memory. But Chicharito is scoring goals, and the Galaxy did things they wouldn't have done in 2021. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the win over the Timbers, talk about some pregame activities that didn't make the broadcast, and start to get you ready for the first El Trafico of 2022. The guys will start with their recap of the Galaxy's win in Portland and how Efrain Alvarez stepped up to create enough offense while Sam Grandsir, Kevin Cabral, and Chicharito all made the Timbers pay for some lax defense and bad fouls. Plus, Josh will tell you why not knowing what a foul was in this game led to the Galaxy getting a red card, Portland getting a red card, and the second half being the least predictable match in MLS over the weekend. And the players, coaches, and other officials all knew it! Josh and Kevin will then break down some of the charts that explain where the Galaxy are through five games and why we're cautiously watching what Chicharito is doing in 2022. And that drumbeat gets louder for Mexico's all-time goal scorer to join up with them for Qatar 2022. Will Tata finally relent? Finally, the guys talk about the addition of Preston Judd to the first team roster and why Greg Vanney is making that move now. Are you ready for the Galaxy to take on LAFC? We'll tell you about the white-out in the stadium for Saturday and other team news you need to know. Join us for 60-plus minutes of Galaxy-talk on a Monday night. You won't be disappointed.

Well, if you listen to this podcast regularly, there's a good chance that you were at the Stadium four years ago watching the craziest game in MLS history unfold. And in less than 20 minutes of total time, Zlatan Ibrahimovic announced himself to the United States, Los Angeles, the LA Galaxy, and the world. Zlatan was back. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira discuss the Miracle on March 31st, discuss Zlatan's impact on the world that day, and ultimately how that 2018 team didn't make the playoffs. But it's not about living in the past. It's all about acknowledging the biggest goal in MLS history and what the Stadium felt like on that day. Josh and Eric will then dive into Greg Vanney's media call today. They'll get you updated on the health status of Douglas Costa and why his injury certainly shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Also, they'll listen to Vanney talk about the two-forward system and why Dejan Joveljic needs time to find a balance with Chicharito. But do you believe that Vanney is telling the truth about how the Galaxy would need to cede possession if Chicharito and Joveljic played together? Or is there more to this? Finally, the guys get you ready for a difficult start to April and why winning in Portland would go a long way to stabilizing the Galaxy ahead of some challenging games. Will Portland invite the Galaxy to have possession? Will this be a repeat of the Galaxy's losses to Seattle and Orlando? What needs to change to make the Galaxy as dangerous of a team as some statisticians say? We'll talk about it all in 80-minutes of Galaxy-talk! Thanks for joining us!

But this Sunday's game will first have to see some international players return. And if we're being honest, a couple of them should be getting regular call-ups and playing time, especially for Mexico. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter look at two players who should have a more significant role with El Tri but currently don't. And they look at how that could benefit the Galaxy if it all fell into place. But will Julian Araujo flourish under Tata Martino, or will he continue to ride the bench? And is the pressure getting to him? Have we seen that with both the Galaxy and Mexico? Plus, is Mexico making the same mistake as Jurgen Klinsmann and Sweden? Are they letting their pride keep them from capturing the last competitive breaths of one of their country's greatest goal-scorers? So what does Javier Hernandez need to do with the Galaxy to get Tata's attention? Josh and Kevin will also dive into the Galaxy's demanding schedule, tell you why the Galaxy still don't have a TV deal they've told us about yet, and why there are three or four pretenders above the playoff line in the Western Conference. And the Galaxy might be one of them. We've got a packed show tonight, and we're moving at an unusually quick clip. So buckle up for the return of CoG after a relaxing Thursday off!

And while there's some criticism of the defense, we think the offense needs to kick it into gear more than the defense. And Kevin Cabral, FINISH YOUR CHANCES! Kevin Baxter is away for World Cup Qualifying on today's show, so it's up to Josh Guesman to hold down the show all by himself. Josh will start by talking about pupusas and what an absolutely gorgeous Saturday we were all having until the Galaxy ruined it. The grass looked terrific, the white uniforms sparkled, and it was just the perfect situation to get a win and enjoy the rest of the weekend. Well, that ended in the 9th minute. Was it a defensive breakdown? Yes. Was the defense the problem on Saturday? No. Josh will tell you why Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez couldn't score and why Kevin Cabral was the Galaxy's best player! Also, why Kevin Cabral was the Galaxy's worst player. And it's probably important to gain some perspective on where the Galaxy were last year and what they're doing in the first four games. Plus, Josh will get you audio from Greg Vanney's post-game press call where he focuses on "patience" and what he sees Cabral doing during games. Are you ready to be done with the Cabral experiment? And if you are, who do you place in his spot? Can Vanney be trusted to get the best out of Cabral? And does he have an end to his patience? Finally, Josh will lay out the upcoming schedule for next month and tell you why it doesn't get any easier. In fact, it gets soooooo much harder! Stats, game recap, Victor Vazquez losing his left foot. This pod has it all!

After losing to Seattle last weekend, they're entirely focused on Orlando City and that pesky little Pato they bring. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou are getting you ready for Saturday's early game and telling what else is happening around your Galaxy. Josh will talk with LA Galaxy II head coach Yoann Damet about the double-header coming up on Saturday. And why it's one of your few chances to see G2 play in front of a crowd at home. But the real focus of the show will be on the open media availability on Wednesday and what we learned from a pretty intense day for the Galaxy. Is Vanney ramping this team up to find fitness and reliability? Or is he trying to break bad habits with a lot of hard work? Is the answer both? You'll hear from Vanney and Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, who talks about playing on concrete and watching the playoffs from his couch. There's some excellent audio there. Finally, Josh and Sophie want to discuss the Galaxy's game against Orlando City and why it might be Kevin Cabral's turn to show some leadership. Can the Galaxy counter the counter? Can the Galaxy control a team that wants control? And can the Galaxy defend a team that might be shaky on defense? We've got a great show lined up for you as you get ready for a big weekend game! Galaxy outplay Seattle, but Araujo hits a low point

When the LA Galaxy played some of their biggest games and always came up short? Did it feel like that again on Saturday when the Galaxy dominated a Seattle Sounders team but got nothing for it? And did the defense regress back to last year? Is it all too familiar? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's 3-2 loss of the Seattle Sounders. The guys will start with the basics, but there are some fundamental questions about the defense and why it broke down in three set-piece opportunities. And yes, we're counting the penalty kick as a set-piece breakdown. And while defense is a team game, there's one individual who bears a lot of the brunt of the collapses -- and that's Julian Araujo. He's mentioned in all three goals and can be directly be blamed for the first two. So what's happening to the wonderkid? And is it a bigger problem to worry about or something he can work through? Is the pressure from Mexico, and those huge expectations, finally getting to him? Or has a more talented Araujo just not figured out how to put it all together in the first three games? And should Greg Vanney be looking to change things up and sit Araujo? Plus, the Galaxy's offense is second in shots but much further down the list in goals. While possession is generating the chances, are the Galaxy missing too many good looks at goal. And who needs to put them in the back of the net? Kevin Cabral is undoubtedly someone to focus on. But Chicharito is also an excellent place to look for more. We've got a fun show with a lot of analysis from the Galaxy's loss, so join us for some Galaxy-talk and see what we got right and what we got wrong!

And we're fortunate enough to have Eriq on our show today. Hosts Josh Guesman and Christian Miles welcome Zavaleta to the show and talk about coming to Los Angeles, seeing the sun regularly, and getting the keys to Greg Vanney's car. Plus, they'll discuss the differences of a championship team and why he sees some of those building blocks with the Galaxy. Then the guys will jump into the Galaxy's current roster and why adding a sixth center back might have been a smart move. Especially at the price point he's likely to be coming in at. But with only two roster spots, what does Vanney have in mind? And why is one of the spots depth at right-back after some bad injury news on Jorge Villafaña? Josh and Christian will also talk about Julian Araujo's humanitarian award and why that doesn't conflict with his hard-nosed on-field persona. Plus, there's a little talk about LA Galaxy II, the start of their season, and why you probably won't be going to their games this year. Finally, the guys are getting you ready for a challenging game against a Seattle Sounders side that may have just found their form. Can the Galaxy get another win to start the season? Another shutout? We've got a packed show for you today, and we're delighted you could join us!

And the reason for that hush was Efrain Alvarez. So is this the sign that Alvarez should finally be given the freedom to start? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the LA Galaxy win over Charlotte FC on Saturday night in front of nearly 75,000 people. But there are other topics to cover. They're going to talk some offense, some defense, and whether or not Julian Araujo is a believer in the darkest of arts. Josh and Kevin will start by applauding the effort and the result from the 1-0 win over Charlotte on Saturday. They're going to talk about Alvarez and his wonder-striker and why it's not like we haven't seen this movie before. Does that mean we need to see him starting? Does the injury to Vazquez put Vanney in a position to reward the 19-year-old? And how does Alvarez's game change when he's a starter? Plus, the Galaxy lead the league in shots and key passes, but they've only seen two goals hit the back of the net in 2022. Are you worried that Chicharito, Cabral, and Costa aren't producing? And how much does Cabral shoulder the blame for the poor finishing? But there's a bigger question about Cabral. Are the Galaxy not finding their Young DP? And the defense has been the standout through 180 minutes. What have Julian Araujo, Raheem Edwards, Nick DePuy, and Sega Coulibaly been able to do this season? And why are they the key to success? Finally, Josh raises questions about Eriq Zavaleta, Sergio Ramos, and Julian Araujo. And then he talks about charts. It's a pretty standard Monday. But the Galaxy could be on their way to club history.

But they're flying into one of the most unpredictable situations you could find. They're about to face 75,000 fans in Charlotte, and there's just no way to prepare for that. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira discuss the Galaxy news you need to know before Saturday's MASSIVE match. The guys will start by zeroing in on the club's request for input on the 2024 kit. So they do the only reasonable thing and, along with the chat room, fill out the survey and try to read behind the questions. Are the Galaxy looking at changing the crest? Are the Galaxy looking at changing their primary colors? And why does it seem like some of these questions are traps? Tell the guys where they went wrong! Next, Josh and Eric will talk about the LA Galaxy II roster and what injuries and suspensions you can expect this weekend. Will Derrick Williams be available on the turf in Charlotte? And what fun charts can Josh find to tell you that the Galaxy have a chance to do something they've only done five times in their history. But will they do it? Plus, there was a hugely important anonymous survey that The Athletic did while talking to 21 of the league's 28 "Chief Soccer Officers" about what they think of different teams and people around the league. The Galaxy don't get mentioned enough... and that's a problem. And when they do get mentioned... it isn't good. Finally, the guys get ready for a Charlotte FC side that didn't deserve to lose to DC United by a score of 3-0. So just how much better will they play in front of the largest crowd in MLS history? We've got nearly 90 minutes of Galaxy-talk. So let's get you ready for Saturday's big match!

The world is your Pupusa - LA Galaxy outlast NYCFC and get poached by Chicharito.

The fact that the LA Galaxy were able to stubbornly outplay New York City FC in the 90th-minute also means something. And the beers flying, the people screaming, and Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez firing up his teammates also means something. It's not all nothing. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's victory over NYCFC, and talk about the individual performances that both impressed and left us answering some questions. The guys will start with the pregame activities that saw them shoveling in the pupusas, leading into their observations of the Galaxy's play. Plus, Josh will get too upset that the Galaxy didn't do a formation lineup -- he doesn't like lists. Raheem Edwards was one of the big stars on the afternoon, which led to one of the best goals from a "poacher" you'll see. But Chicharito didn't just beat Maxime Chanot with his fake; he had a reason behind it. Plus, Kevin will dive into the psyche behind Javier Hernandez's Galaxy transformation. And why the guy who is always smiling and always laughing is taking his stint in LA as seriously as anyone. The guys will also discuss the likely suspension of Julian Araujo and why his time with the Galaxy could be shorter than fans want. If Araujo does get tossed for the next couple of games and then goes off to play for Mexico, will he be missing too much time? Finally, Josh and Kevin dive into the Sergio Ramos rumors and tell you why they're possible. They'll even hint at the game plan for getting him. But is that probable? We've got a packed show that covers many of the angles from Sunday's win. And we're delighted you could join us!

Pupusas, New York City, and a fresh start for the LA Galaxy

The 2022 season starts on Sunday! The LA Galaxy are planning on a full-capacity crowd (one of the first since the pandemic began in 2020), and the club will do everything it can to make New York City FC's first regular-season game since winning MLS Cup an uncomfortable affair. Your hosts for today's show, Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira, want to get you ready for everything you can experience before the game, at the stadium, and during the game. Josh and Eric will start by updating you on a former LA Galaxy II player, Jorge Hernandez, who was playing his football in Ukraine. And how he's on his way back to the United States. The guys will also make sure you're prepared for Soccerfest. Will you be getting a quasar haircut? Or maybe you're interested in schooling an eMLS player at FIFA? Or perhaps you're interested in pushing Josh out of line for pupusas? The guys will also get you through the busy league schedule for the weekend and tell you which game you should be watching on Saturday! But there's also some coverage of the Galaxy's in-person media availability and why Greg Vanney doesn't really want to create some confusion at right back. And will Douglas Costa start? The guys have an argument for that situation, and Josh will try and convince you as to why the formation won't really matter. Finally, Eric and Josh will get you ready for New York City FC's invasion of Dignity Health Sports Park. And tell you why FiveThirtyEight doesn't think the Galaxy really stand a chance against the defending MLS champions. Are you ready for 34 games of excitement? Are the Galaxy a better team than last year? Where will they finish? The good news is that they'll start answering all those questions on Sunday.

Now, they all count! Galaxy draw with DC, and try and fix the defense before Opening Day!

And on Sunday, with New York City FC marching into the stadium, they'll know that everything they do until October has real-world ramifications for how they finish the season. So are they ready? Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter detail the Galaxy's 2-2 draw with DC United and why they probably put themselves in a position to have to pick someone who was just waiting in the wings. Josh will start by going over what he saw from the press box with the Galaxy's "disjointed" play against DC United. He'll talk about the team's best strength -- counter-attacking -- and why Greg Vanney is pinning the entire success of the season on the Galaxy's weakest point, their defense. So what have the Galaxy done to make their defense better? And why are they in a position to need someone like Eriq Zavaleta? And is Zavaleta even the answer for a club that is sorely missing their second starter? Josh and Kevin will also discuss availability for Douglas Costa, Victor Vazquez, Derrick Williams, and Sega Coulibaly. They'll get you updated on the biggest successes of the preseason and who won the golden sandal. But before the night is over, they'll also give you updates on the Galaxy's TV deal, why the league is only planning on charter flights for some of the season, and much more. Plus, we've written down our predictions, so that means we're ready to be proven wrong by the success and failures of the Galaxy. Where did we get it right? And where did we get it wrong? We've got a packed show for you on a Monday night. And it just feels like real soccer is in the air! Are you ready for the opening game of the season?

And we've got some major LA Galaxy storylines that need to be discussed! On today's show, host Josh Guesman is flying solo while battling a cold and updating you on all the Galaxy news that has happened and everything you need to know that's coming up. Josh will start by getting you through the Galaxy's "City of Dreams" kit and ask, "why are we naming kits?" Do you think the name adds something to the release? And is this more than just a plain white design with some colors? And is there anything wrong with that? And are the Galaxy calling Josh fat? But our host will then dive into the Galaxy's first pre-season loss and try to figure out why Julian Araujo isn't playing starting team minutes? Is Greg Vanney really planning on Araujo coming off the bench for Kelvin Leerdam? Is there a better explanation? Plus, will Derrick Williams's return or Douglas Costa's debut make waves on Saturday against DC United? And are those the main stories behind this last dress rehearsal before the season starts? And finally, Josh believes the Galaxy will be one of the best teams in MLS. And he's basing that off of a broken heart. Whose broken heart? The Galaxy's broken heart. Can the way the Galaxy crashed out of the postseason set them up for a revenge season? Was Real Salt Lake's goal in the final minutes of the season enough to motivate this team to get revenge on the whole league? Was this the shared disappointment that leads to championships? We've got a packed show, we've got some good discussion, and as normal, we have some of the best listeners in the world. What more could you ask for?

And how big could this get? BIG! On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter dig into the Galaxy's final desert game while also exploring how the club will play in 2022 and what they're still missing. Is one of those things Douglas Costa? Josh will tell you about his trip to the Coachella Valley and why he was surprised by the location, the facilities, and the weather. Plus, he's letting you know just how big this preseason tournament could get. Will AEG pull off one of the biggest spring-training-like attention grabs in MLS history? And what do music and food have to do with soccer? But Josh and Kevin will also discuss how the Galaxy played against the New York Red Bulls and why a defensively stout team is starting to emerge -- even if that's not how the Galaxy will actually advertise themselves. And what position needs the most help? And is Greg Vanney searching for a backup in those areas? Where do you think the Galaxy need reinforcements? Finally, the guys will discuss the Galaxy's teases and the scheduled release for the new 2022 primary kit. Just how "clean" will it get? We've got 60-plus minutes of Galaxy-talk coming your way. Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the big Thursday the Galaxy just had on today's show. There's plenty of Galaxy news to discuss, there's plenty still to discuss when it comes to the signing of Douglas Costa, and the guys will even talk about some of the news that's going around the league. Like which MLS coach just said his team was "screwed?" Josh and Kevin will start talking about the Galaxy's draw with the Seattle Sounders at the Coachella Valley Invitational. But because the game wasn't streamed, they invited Soccer America's (and other freelance soccer coverage) Scott French to tell them what details they missed for the game. Like why did Scott think the Galaxy deserved to win the game? What problem area does everyone agree the Galaxy have? And where was Rayan Ravelson playing? Then Josh and Kevin move on to finally announcing the details of the Costa Designated Player signing and why Costa was in a private jet today. Plus, will he have to leave the country to get his Visa in order? But there's also coverage of the Galaxy's press conference today and what was said by Vanney and whose name wasn't dropped very much. Is Vanney hinting at a departure for one of the brightest stars the Galaxy has? We've got a jammed show with a lot of details that you're not going to want to miss. Of course, we are! It's what we do! On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and, filling in for Kevin Baxter, who was in Ontario at the Fury game (but still calls in), is Christian Miles. Josh and Christian start by talking about the gamble the Galaxy are making with Costa and why we're all naturally wired to suggest this wasn't the most innovative way to spend $5-million (reportedly). But Josh will put on his aviation hat and tell you why a single picture of Costa can tell you the type of plane he's flying and where his plane is going. Also, what time you could expect him to land in Los Angeles. Then the guys dive into the preseason scrimmage that saw the Galaxy score four times and outplay the defending Supporters Shield winners. Was Bruce Arena having his New England Revolution play poorly on purpose? And why should you get excited about Kevin Cabral but still be worried about the Galaxy's defense? Christian and Josh will dive into the prospects of Jalen Neal, Dejan Joveljic, and Mark Delgado and tell you why the club is ready to see some of their younger players playing a more prominent role. Plus, with the injuries to Derrick Williams and Jorge Villafaña, will Raheem Edwards and Julian Araujo usher in some tactical flexibility? And could Kelvin Leerdam become a back three center back? We've got a great show that will even close the book on Cristian Pavon and tell you why the Galaxy haven't made an offer for a very long time. So why were they in Brazil earlier this year? We'll talk about it all! Thanks for joining us on a busy Monday show!

Will the Galaxy be able to match up to one of the best teams in MLS last season? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou want to get you caught up on a busy Thursday. They've got a surprise preseason game to update you on, they'll talk about the Douglas Costa rumors that should cross the line on Monday, and they'll get you ready for what should be an electrifying season from Julian Araujo. First, Josh and Sophie talk about how the preseason doesn't matter. Then Josh will tell you how he's keeping track of goal scorers in the preseason to counter that whole "it doesn't matter" thing. But the majority of this show revolves around the reporting of Fabrizio Romano and how the Galaxy are going to sign Costa for 1.5 years with a six-month loan to start things off. What can we learn about Costa from a question Greg Vanney didn't want to answer? And can the most talented player on the field make it big in Los Angeles? Sophie and Josh will also tell you about the first significant injury of the preseason, and you'll hear from Vanney on Costa, Cristian Pavon, Mark Delgado, and a lot more. Plus, what did Vanney think of Araujo's World Cup Qualifying debut? And why is that good for the Galaxy? We've got a packed show for you on a Thursday night that will definitely get you ready for a Saturday night game! Let's get this thing started!

So when are Douglas Costa and Cristian Pavon headed to Los Angeles? Let's press pause on that duo... at least for a bit longer. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter want to get you all the latest Galaxy news. And surprisingly, there's a lot to digest. Josh and Kevin will start by updating you on the Galaxy's preseason roster and why there's one very interesting name. Who is trailing with the club? And what does a lack of international spots mean for some players? And the whole reason the Galaxy released their roster was that they played a closed-door preseason game on Saturday and came away victorious. Did Greg Vanney end up playing some defense? And why does the preseason never matter until it does? But the guys who did get on the scoreboard for the Galaxy certainly are worth paying attention to this Saturday when the Galaxy play their first preseason game that is open to the public. However, the bulk of the show will be focused on the probable signing of Douglas Costa (he seems to be coming) and the possible reacquisition of Cristian Pavon. Come February, could we see two game-changers playing together at Dignity Health Sports Park? Would the Galaxy have to wait until the summertime? Plus, the guys will go over each deal and tell you why some risky business decisions are being made. Can the Galaxy get the most out of Costa? There's no denying there's talent there, but will he be able to regain form he had when he played for the likes of Juventus and Bayern? We've got a very packed show filled with opinion, new information, and a lot of speculation heading into a very condensed off-season. Let's get it started!

This is how this season is going to go, isn't it? Hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Viera are back to discuss the Galaxy's focus on an injury-prone Brazilian struggling to cut it in the second division of Brazil. Do the Galaxy think they have found an overlooked diamond in the rough? And are they going for it hard? The guys discuss the risks and rewards of Douglas Costa and why he's going to have to find a way to convince Galaxy fans he wants to make a difference in LA. Plus, could a short-term contract make more sense even if it is worth close to $5-million? Josh and Eric also discuss 2022's plain-white-t and why the replica unearthed in London is probably pretty close to the actual design that is coming out. Will you buy it? Finally, the guys discuss Julian Araujo not making the Mexico bench against Jamaica, why the Galaxy probably gave away a whole bunch of money when moving Lletget so early in the window, and why Omar Gonzalez and AJ DeLaGarza are gracing the beaches in the South Bay as "Galaxy East" comes to SoCal for the preseason. But with holes remaining in this lineup, can Greg Vanney and the rest of the front office find the ambition and foresight to land a game-changing signing? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Larry Morgan (Kevin Baxter is on assignment following the USMNT) discuss the Galaxy's most recent moves and why some of the rumors might not be leading in the direction everyone thinks they're going to. The guys will start by talking about the addition of Mike Muñoz in a position that will oversee the LA Galaxy Academy and probably LA Galaxy II. What expectations does he have, and will the Galaxy maintain the momentum that the previous administration started? Then Josh and Larry will get the details right on the Marky Delgado trade to confirm his contract length and why the signing is just fine. Really! It's fine. We're all fine! The Galaxy also made their way back to the Rose Bowl last week, and the entire team was running hills around the hallowed ground before getting to have lunch on the field itself. Is this just more history farming by the Galaxy? Is this a PR stunt that gains views with minimal upside? Or is Vanney doing something meaningful with this team? Is this what team-building looks like? Finally, Josh will talk about Douglas Costa and Cristian Pavon rumors. And the feelings we have about certain signings aren't being talked about. But did the Galaxy need to reload their ideas when Acosta, Rusnak, and Sanchez all took paths around the Galaxy? Plus, is there any excuse for a lack of an organizational chart that is easily explained from this front office? Are Chris Klein and Dan Beckerman under ever-building pressure to fix the Galaxy? Will Vanney get the blame if it all goes sideways? And why is a Twitter account for the Galaxy's parent-company blocking Galaxy fans for a perfectly reasonable protest? But the story of the draft was their first-round draft pick. And on today's show, Farai Mutatu will stay up well past his bedtime to call into the podcast to talk to us. Host Josh Guesman welcomes Mutatu to the Galaxy fans on the west coast just as the former Michigan State player prepares to wing across the country and land in Los Angeles -- a place he's only been once before. Mutatu will tell you about his journey to getting drafted by the Galaxy and what he thinks he can bring to a Galaxy team who can always use a guy who doesn't know how to give up. After the phone call, Josh will talk about the Galaxy's other draft picks and why the club probably passed on their final draft pick. But what obstacles will get in the way of any of these former college players? International slots? Roster spots? We'll discuss it all. Then Josh will get you updated on Victor Vazquez, who looks to be returning to the Galaxy as he left Europe and videoed his fantastic lay-flat bad. How do we get into first class? The answer? Why would it be different? And what is the club doing in Brazil? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter want to update you on what could be another slow week for the club. But with a Saturday reporting date, are things about to heat up? Or is the calmness telling? Perhaps MLS is just in a position it's never been in before with a winter World Cup later this year? Josh and Kevin will start by explaining some of the dynamics behind a World Cup that is actually lining up in the league's favor. Does that mean some big moves could take place in the lead-up to the biggest sporting event in the world? And is MLS primed to capitalize? The guys will then debate the pros and cons of the MLS SuperDraft on Tuesday and talk about the Galaxy's history of draft picks. Are the Galaxy just really bad at this? Do they value the college development path at all? or is the SuperDraft a thing of the past? There are a lot of opinions, and we're sure you have your own. Next, the guys talk about the "gamble" the Galaxy made on Raheem Edwards and why a depth piece is garnering so much attention and a three-year contract. Does Vanney know something the rest of us don't on Edwards? And who much are the Galaxy willing to risk on Kelvin Leerdam and Raheem Edwards? Then the guys want to dive into two fascinating rumors. But only one of them has any smoke behind it, and both seem to be a gamble. Is Juventus' Douglas Costa leaving a second division team in Brazil to join the Galaxy? And are the Galaxy persuing one of the top attacking midfielders in Ligue 1 in Teji Savanier? Suffer through our horrible pronunciations and questionable logic, as we talk about Cristian Pavon being the "easy" choice and why Costa might be a motivational issue but relatively cheap. And would Savanier be a severe departure from who the Galaxy usually target? Could we call them ambitious? We've got a great show lined up for you, and we're glad you're joining us in the lead-up to the Galaxy's start of the preseason!

Hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira are interested in getting you ready for a preseason that now has some times and dates associated with it. And can we tell you when the Galaxy will make their way to the desert? Josh and Eric start with the preseason schedule with the Galaxy playing three games at Dignity Health Sports Park -- two in front of crowds -- and sandwiching a trip to the desert in between. And are the Empire Polo Grounds set up to handle a soccer tournament? Yes, absolutely! And maybe a little bit of a no. But they're not hosting 60,000 people waiting to see Kanye, so we're reasonably sure they can handle it. We'll explain it all, including the five teams that could be in Indio for this first-ever Coachella Valley Invitational. What about the Galaxy's release of the new first kit and a possible third kit? We'll talk about new jersey's and why the Galaxy need to keep it simple to complement last year's success of the Community Kit. The guys will then dive into the signing of Kelvin Leerdam, and Raheem Edwards is expected to be the other player the Galaxy announces. What do they both bring to a team that needs depth, creativity, and minutes? And why might Leerdam be the answer to what happens when the Galaxy sell Julian Araujo? We're kicking off 2022 with a show that is packed with little details and a little bit of breaking news. Are you ready to find out what this preseason will look like? Well, it starts in 12 days. Let that sink in! On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's preseason plans and get some of the details on preseason reporting and a new preseason tournament that will take place at the same place Coachella is held. Can you say, "Coachella Valley Invitational?" Josh and Kevin will start by telling you when the Galaxy will report for physicals and then which date is mandated by the league to begin their preseason. They'll also go into details about a preseason tournament that will kick-off for the first time in 2022 but will more than likely be a yearly tournament with anywhere from four to six teams playing in it. And we'll tell you how AEG is hosting it on land they operate, with revenues eventually going back to AEG and the Galaxy. And do you want some player signings? We'll tell you when to expect some announcements this week and why it could end up being more than just two names that get announced this week. There will also be confirmations on the news of Pipo Gonzalez departing the Galaxy and how the club saved a local sports complex in Torrance. Finally, we've got a look into an MLS middle-man and why his track record with the club isn't that great. Are the Galaxy addicted to one agent? And does that mean more French players for the club? We're glad to welcome you back to 2022! Now let's get ready for a quick preseason with lots of roster space. Happy New Year, listeners!

Sacha Kljestan, Galaxy Red and Green Cards, and 'I saw Santa Clause.'

But it would be best if you were warned; Sacha Kljestan joins us, and Josh tells a story about seeing Santa Clause. Also, there might be a Galaxy-themed 'Twas the Night before Christmas that debuted on this show about six years ago. But who's counting? Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter update you on Galaxy news and talk about what 2021 looked like from the Galaxy perspective. Also, what are we expecting from Greg Vanney and company now that a lot of what Dennis te Kloese did has been wiped from the front office. The guys start with welcoming Sacha Kljestan to the show, where they discuss if he gets tired of being called "old" after every game by the press and why some "moron" once predicted that he'd be coming to the Galaxy in a move that almost got him to the Galaxy. That's right. We're taking you back to 2014, people. But Sacha will also talk about things that need to change in 2022 and how this team will fill the holes left by Sebastian Lletget and Jonathan dos Santos. After Sacha leaves, Josh and Kevin will update you on the Galaxy's pursuit of Cristian Pavon and why they may be stepping back from the very talented midfielder. The guys will also talk about the rumor that Carlos Harvey has acquired his Green Card and why that will be a massive benefit to the midfielder as he tries to establish himself as an MLS player. Finally, Armenia loves the Galaxy, Santa Clause is Coming to Town, and what would it sound like if the Galaxy wrote 'Twas the Night before Christmas." Did Josh really jinx the Galaxy with one poem? We hope everyone enjoyed our 2021 season of the podcast, and we'll be back in 2022! See you on January 3rd!

A Tom Cruise, cruise, a skinny Lletget Trade, and a Galaxy Schedule for 2022!

Sebastian Lletget has moved to New England, and Sacha Kljestan will stay in LA, but are you getting a warm and fuzzy feeling from the moves? Hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou are back to get you updated on some very big moves by a Galaxy side that seems to have a plan in mind as they offload players and gather some money in the process. They'll start with the re-signing of Sacha Kljestan, who seems to be a value-added type of player. So what did the Galaxy get with Kljestan? And can they afford to add another name like Victor Vasquez as well? But then Josh and Sophie want to get into the Galaxy's trade with New England for Lletget. Can the Galaxy afford to trust the Revolution and Bruce Arena in this deal? Why are the Galaxy dealing with Arena and Lletget? Did he want to go to New England? And did the Galaxy get the value you expected from the trade? Josh will break down the mechanics of how the Galaxy get paid and when they get paid and then tell you what the perception of the deal is in some circles across the league. Will the Galaxy ever get $1.3-million out of the Revolution? And when could they see that money if they did? Next, our hosts talk about the Dan Steres trade details and why it's probably more of a wash than we initially thought. Does that make you feel better about offloading the defender to the Houston Dynamo? Finally, there's some schedule talk before Sophie tells stories of Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, and then name drops about ten more celebrities. She's the most interesting person in the world for a reason. She just stays bottled up! We've got a fun show for you with only one more episode left this year. Are you ready to ring in 2022? Better question: are the Galaxy?

Trades gone wrong? Did the Galaxy make the right moves with Steres and Zubak?

- SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ - COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P - COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy had a relatively busy half-day trade window Sunday morning. They moved two players who probably weren't going to make a big splash in 2022 for the club and would have struggled to get playing time. But did they get all they could for them? Or was something else going on? On today's show, host Josh Guesman goes without Kevin Baxter (He's on a boat!) and discusses the Galaxy's trade of Dan Steres and Ethan Zubak. There are a lot of questions that come up when we see the results of these trades, but perhaps there's a good reason the return on these players was less than expected? Josh will start by going over his views of a rather unimpressive MLS Cup. Sure the highlights will show a great game, but the playoff format seems to be the enemy of good soccer. Why was this year another "year of the asterisks?" And why does MLS need to fix this problem with growing US popularity? Then Josh will discuss the upcoming expansion draft and why it's not a shopping list for teams looking to add or get rid of pieces. Sure the Galaxy are exempt from this year's festivities, but will Charlotte find some former Galaxy players unprotected? And the Galaxy will find out their full 2022 schedule on December 15th! But the bulk of today's show is to talk about the trade of Steres and Zubak and why the Galaxy may have done the best they could. Or maybe they tried to make a deal that kept the player in mind. Either way, the Galaxy are opening up space on the roster, and if they want more new faces, it's the only way to get it done. Plus, is Sebastian Lletget eyeing Miami instead of New England? And what new rumors popped up just before the show. Do they even make sense? Welcome to CoG show number 900! Thanks for hanging around with us! We're glad we could keep you entertained!

RUMOR SHOW: Lletget, Steres gone? Galaxy Aggressive with Pavon?

- SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ - COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P - COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- To say the LA Galaxy offseason suddenly jumped into overdrive would be an understatement. With Saturday's MLS Cup inching toward completion, all hell is about to break loose on the trading market inside the league. And that means multiple players from the Galaxy could be gone in a matter of days. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira update you on all the rumors surrounding the Galaxy, break some news, and tell you what to expect as the club wheels and deals in a very compact offseason. Josh and Eric will start with an update on Mike Munoz, LA Galaxy II, and a surprise departure (maybe it's not that surprising) of a coach we thought would stay around. Are significant changes coming to the Academy? Then the guys transition to Sebastian Lletget. They'll talk about the rumor that was dropped by Steve Goff earlier in the day and update you on teams interested in Lletget. Is the fact that Bruce Arena is making this deal surprise anyone? And what can you expect from a Lletget who will probably have a bounce-back year for the Revolution? Next on the rumor list is Cristian Pavon. How aggressive are the Galaxy going to get with Boca Juniors? And why will he be expensive even though he's out of contract in June? We'll explain the landscape and why multiple teams are after Pavon. And are the Galaxy making a mistake by pursuing someone with sexual assault charges still on the books? Finally, Dan Steres is on the trading block. That shouldn't surprise you. It was assumed as a good theory as soon as the season ended. But with Vanney deciding that Steres won't be playing for LA, the Galaxy have to find a place for the 31-year-old. There's some talk about Julian Araujo mixed in, and we talk about Christmas songs we don't know the words to, a sable, and getting bumped in a drive-thru at lunch. Yeah, the silly season is here!

What's 'MLS Next PRO' for the Galaxy? Wingers, and selling Araujo and Lletget

But that doesn't mean the league doesn't have things we need to discuss! And it doesn't mean the LA Galaxy aren't tracking a few rumors from both inside and outside the league. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's silent approach to the offseason so far and why MLS Cup's conclusion should jump-start a very short offseason. Josh and Kevin will start clarifying the Chris Klein rumors and why the Los Angeles World Cup Committee could grab some attention from the Galaxy's President. The guys will then "transfer" over to the Ilie Sanchez rumors and tell you that, while they were fake, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. So should you stay awake at night dreaming of a 31-year-old midfielder after Jonathan dos Santos -- a 31-year-old midfielder -- kept you awake at night in 2021? Plus, there's word from Turkey (the country and not Josh's 9-pound Thanksgiving treat) that 26-year-old Tyler Boyd may be interested in joining the Galaxy. What would that mean for Greg Vanney's formation? And what could that signal to guys like Kevin Cabral, Dejan Joveljić, and Efrain Alvarez? Speaking of Alvarez and Julian Araujo, both get call-ups to Mexico's friendly with Chile. But why is Araujo harder to trade than Alvarez? Could the Galaxy ever replace Araujo? And if they had to put a number on it, how out of touch with reality is it? Finally, MLS is launching a new third division of soccer. Why is it just a suped-up reserve league, and why were the Galaxy wary of joining it when it was announced? Will they ever join? We've got a packed show for you on a Monday that we thought might be short. It wasn't. Enjoy!

But we're starting to see some player rumors heat things up. Can the Galaxy take advantage of the smaller market struggles to take a giant leap forward in 2022? Host Josh Guesman brings you all the latest news and rumors surrounding the Galaxy and how each of those rumored players could affect how we view the club's offseason. Josh will start with the Sebastian Lletget rumors and why the Galaxy would think of trading a fan favorite. And he'll remind the listeners that the vocal minority on Lletget is absolutely a minority and that the public relations of this move must also be considered. But what could the Galaxy get with a trade in the league? And why is New England a clear landing spot for him? Next, Josh will focus on 31-year-old defensive midfielder Ilie Sanchez. There are some things that could loosely link him to the Galaxy, and that wouldn't be a bad thing. SO STOP SAYING 31 IS OLD! It's old for some players, but Sanchez has the track record of being a reliable starter for years in MLS. Plus, why is defensive midfield a position of need if the Galaxy brought in Rayan Raveloson? Finally, Corner of the Galaxy turns into House Hunters as Galaxy President Chris Klein lists his Newport Beach house for sale. What does that mean for a man who should definitely be on the hot seat (but probably isn't)? And what stupid story does Josh have about meeting Klein 13 years ago in a driveway in Corona Del Mar? It's a good Thursday show that will at least keep you abreast of what is happening around MLS and the Galaxy. Are you ready for everything to kick into the crazy season? Because that will happen faster than you think!

We hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving break, but we're ready to get back to LA Galaxy business. And there was a lot of business to decipher. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter (from Mexico) want to get you caught up on all the Galaxy news that dropped over the holiday weekend. An there's a surprising amount, even if the events themselves weren't unexpected. Josh and Kevin will start by discussing the departure of Dennis te Kloese to Feyenoord and why the Galaxy aren't blameless in his leaving. But will te Kloese have a legacy? And what would that legacy be? Plus, who will take over in the General Manager role, and why is a Technical Director different from a GM? Plus, the guys want to look at the announcement that Jonathan dos Santos won't be returning to the club in 2022. At 31-years-old is dos Santos a victim of poor systems or a body that couldn't keep up with MLS anymore. Josh and Kevin will then go over the roster decisions the club announced today and tell you why the Galaxy really didn't do much with their option declines and out-of-contract players. But shopping for a Designated Player has already started. Finally, the show will go over the offseason calendar that MLS released and tell you why the Galaxy get to take the 2022 Expansion Draft as a snow day. We've got a packed show that includes a wintery mix of Galaxy news and analysis. Are the Galaxy better off with te Kloese gone? Thanks for joining us!

And you're going to want to stick around for a little story about a little turkey (only one nine-pound turkey was harmed in the making of this podcast) Host Josh Guesman wants to update you on the Galaxy's offseason schedule and why some players have already flown the coop. Why is the club in voluntary workouts? And what is the technical staff doing behind the scenes? Josh wants to talk briefly about Jalen Neal, why the Galaxy should be at home for the first weekend of the league, and why playing against Charlotte FC might be one of the largest crowds in league history. Have you already booked your hotel? Are you thinking of flying into CLT? We promise there won't be any jokes... Your turkey-eating host will also discuss MLS odds for who could win the MLS Cup, Dennis te Kloese and an announcement on his future, and when the Galaxy might be letting everyone in on their Option Declines and Out-of-Contract players. Soon is the answer. But how soon? Will they ruin Josh's off-week? Finally, Josh will take you back to Maryland, where he'll talk about a tiny turkey that ended up feeding a whole room of people. It's a Thanksgiving miracle of sorts (not really). And Josh would also like to reaffirm his love for his mother-in-law and his wife. Really. He loves them both! They'll talk about players like Niko Hamalainen and Rayan Raveloson and what their travel schedules could have meant during the playoffs. Plus, will Oniel Fisher face off against Sebastian Lletget on Tuesday night? Then Kevin will drop some hints on when the MLS home openers could drop while also discussing the FIFA tour of Los Angeles. Will LA get a World Cup Final again? Finally, the guys discuss Dennis te Kloese's future with the Galaxy and why an option year doesn't always mean the club has an option. That's right, we're talking about performance metrics, and those could affect the Galaxy's season. Will Dan Steres be staying with the Galaxy in 2022? And what could that mean for Sebastian Lletget too? Will Greg Vanney be wheeling and dealing as he looks to place some pieces on a team that missed the playoffs? Can some big roster decisions make it a fortress again? Do you feel like 2021 needs a redo? I almost do! COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy are being thrust into offseason mode much too quickly. With the MLSPA releasing their list of Free Agents for the 2022 season, decisions are going to be made very soon on the futures of several Galaxy players that have called LA home for a while. Hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira are back to get you prepped for an offseason that won't have a ton of flexibility, but the Galaxy are hoping for familiarity to avoid another sad, beautiful, tragic season at Dignity Health Sports Park. But we're considering ourselves the lucky one to be here explaining what the Galaxy need to take into consideration when it comes to veteran players who do more than their time on the field would suggest. Can the Galaxy afford to bring back guys like Sacha Kljestan and Victor Vazquez knowing that as their bodies age everything has changed? This is just the first of many roster discussions Josh and Eric will be having in the offseason and they're also sprinkling in some stats on the improvement of the team from 2020 and maybe why that shouldn't be considered apples to oranges. How many goals better was the Galaxy's defense? And how many points of improvement should you expect in 2022? We've got a lot of details to share, and we'll tell you why Larry Morgan and Cog are never ever getting back together. And can we say goodbye to a member of CoG that has been integral to its success? Well, we're going to talk about all of it. We're going to go over a game the Galaxy shouldn't have lost, and we're going to talk about a coach that got some things wrong on the night. And while doing all of that, we're going to look back on a season that had plenty of opportunities and very little execution. The bottom line is that this Galaxy team wasn't ready to be in the playoffs. And playing against Minnesota at home, they didn't have the experience to get a result. We'll also discuss Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and why Julian Araujo has a lot to learn about the really big games. Finally, we'll talk about Dennis te Kloese's future with the Galaxy and figure out why that situation may come to a head very quickly. And it's going to be two hours of absolute mayhem. Are you ready for Decision Day on steroids? Are you ready for multiple scenarios that get the Galaxy to the post-season? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou discuss the Galaxy's draw with Seattle, the lineup choices Greg Vanney made, and the stuttering development of a Young Designated Player that got it all wrong and could still cost the Galaxy a playoff spot. Josh and Sophie want to get at the heart of the Galaxy's woes over the last five seasons and why a big club like the Galaxy can't fill the seats. Is it only about winning? Or is it something else? Are the Galaxy missing characters? Are they missing stars? Your hosts are also updating you on Dennis te Kloese's contract and why the Galaxy picked up his option. Does that mean that te Kloese is staying for 2022? Not. So. Fast. And an uninspiring loss to Sporting KC may have taught them their most important lesson before their two biggest games of the season. On today's show, host Josh Guesman wants to walk you through all the Galaxy's mistakes against SKC and tell you why they can't afford to make them again. Plus, there's a lot of league news that you're going to want to know before the Galaxy travel to Seattle for some Monday night football. Josh will start with taking apart the Galaxy's loss to SKC and talk about how the stats will make this game closer than it was. Sure Sporting only got two shots on goal, and sure the Galaxy had the same number on their side, but in actuality, the Galaxy got played off the field in this game, and a lot of it has to do with not finding the vertical seams in SKC defense. Plus, Victor Vazquez, Jonathan dos Santos, and Rayan Raveloson were exploited on Wednesday night when the home team was able to pressure them into turnovers. Why did the defense allow two goals? And why do the Galaxy have a big choice to make on Sebastian Lletget? Josh will also look at Designated Players across the league and try and determine if Goals + Assists mean something in the grand scheme of things. Or does it just matter when it matters? We'll explain! And Julian Araujo has been nominated for a bunch of post-season awards, and he's the only player the Galaxy might see win one or two. Plus, we'll be looking at the standings in the Western conference and why we're convinced that the Galaxy will be playing for everything when they face off against Minnesota! Finally, with the Galaxy traveling to Seattle on Sunday, Josh wants to get you ready for the biggest game of the season. Can LA find a way to catch the Sounders unaware? Or will the Galaxy be left to watch the scoreboard through the rest of the week?

If you're an optimist, the draw might give the Galaxy the one point they need to make the playoffs. But both sets of people would agree, the next two games are challenging. And getting results against Sporting KC and the Seattle Sounders would mean the Galaxy earn the post-season spot! On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter discuss the Galaxy's pathetic first-half performance against a bottom-dwelling team in the Western Conference, and why Greg Vanney may have gotten it wrong with the players he chose for the starting lineup. And just how important is Julian Araujo to the Galaxy? Newsflash -- very important! Was that a peek at what the Galaxy might be facing once Araujo moves on from Major League Soccer? But Josh and Kevin are keeping their eyes on the Wednesday night matchup with Sporting KC. Kevin thinks the Galaxy are catching KC at the perfect time. And their schedule and the history of games played Children's Mercy Park might lean into that... almost. Josh thinks that getting a point from both KC and Seattle is key to getting into the playoffs. But with the inconsistency of the entire conference, maybe just a win against Minnesota will be enough? Along the way, the guys are talking about an "elite" level performance from Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and why a spurt of goals could make a big ripple for the Galaxy and for the Golden Boot. Josh even has a chart for you to look at or something. A lot, actually. And we want to share it with you. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira talk about all the pertinent points the Galaxy accomplished against the Dynamo and why it makes Wednesday's game one of the most important of the year. In actuality, it all comes down to allowing Greg Vanney to start thinking about the FC Dallas game before the Houston game was even over. And that's something the Galaxy have failed to accomplish this entire season.
