Bournemouth v Brentford | CotC with Neil Grover & Tom Medd | Planet FPL 2024/25

On Clash of the Correspondents ahead of the Blank James is joined by Bournemouth fan Neil Grover and Brentford fan Tom Medd to discuss the latest at their clubs and some very important Fantasy assets ahead of a fixture where goals are expected again! For both free hitters and those looking to invest you can make a case for more than half the Bournemouth team to be of interest, from Kepa in goal to Dean Huijsen at the back, Milos Kerkez at left-back, a returning Evanilson, Marcus Tavernioer, Antoine Semenyo and Justin Kluivert may even become the captaincy pick of choice for many as we head towards deadline. But where does that leave Dango Ouattara owners? And are consistent Brentford being overlooked with their own attacking players of interest in Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, plus enablers such as the underrated Mikkel Damsgaard and the pacey Kevin Schade? After all, The Bees who were so strong at home are now putting strong results on the board on the road, even if it may have much to do with the flip in their fixtures. And Bournemouth can dare to dream big about qualifying for Europe and whta might might achievable in the FA Cup. Atleti and Real go again in Madrid derby as Bayern, Bayer and Dortmund all lose

Jimbo’s joined by Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús and Seb Stafford-Bloor for a deep-dive into domestic and European matters across the continent. Last week’s Champions League first legs left some results more conclusive than others… we’re looking at you, PSV 1-7 Arsenal! But there’s still plenty of intrigue with the ties between Liverpool and PSG, Real and Atleti and Barca and Benfica finely poised. In La Liga, Real warmed up for their trip across the capital with a 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano, while Atleti were on the wrong end of that scoreline in a dramatic late defeat at Girona. Meanwhile Barcelona’s game with Osasuna was postponed just 20 minutes before kick-off following the sudden death of first team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia. In Ligue 1, PSG’s B-team made light work of Rennes to move 16 points clear at the top of the table - while Paulo Fonseca began his nine month (!) touchline ban as he watched his side beat Nice 2-0 from the stands to put themselves right in the mix for European football next season. Max Callegari - host of Pressing on Canale 5 - joins us to run the rule over all the Serie A action, which included humiliation for Juve, a first win in six for Napoli and spookily similar comebacks for Milan and Inter. And in the Bundesliga, there was history as for the first time in nearly 20 years Bayern, Leverkusen and Dortmund all lost on the same matchday. Produced by Lucy Oliva. A Goat Named Mo | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 40 | GW28 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Suj and James review the weekend of Gameweek 28 where there was more heartbreak for those who gambled on Cole Palmer again as the Chelsea talisman missed his first penalty of his professional career, whilst Mo Salah converted two penalties of his own to break the FPL points scoring record despite still having nine games to play! But FPL managers won't be captaining Salah this week with Liverpool among four teams who blank this week and much of the focus of the Podcast is towards decision making for the Blank coming up, and for some that may mean even selling Salah to fund a move for Erling Haaland. But is Haaland even the best captain this week!? City were being beaten again, this time at Nottingham Forest and Chris Wood may even be the EO play this week as Nuno's Champions League chasing team travel to Ipswich. All the games reviewed, including discussion on Arsenal's draw at Manchester United which surely means the title is heading to Anfield; Bournemouth's outstanding showing at White Hart Lane only earned them a point; while Aston Villa and Brighton also kept themselves in contention for a top 5 finish; and Wolves without Matheus Cunha also edged a point closer to safety Tomorrow on Planet FPL: Clash of the Correspondents, Bournemouth v Brentford with Neil Grover and Tom Medd Today on Patreon: The Q'N'A (IT+) and Nico's Corner (AT) For the full Planet FPL schedule this week, including our offering on Patreon view this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/schedule-march-124031506 Want to become a member of our FPL community and support the Podcast? Man United frustrate Arsenal again while Forest formula foils Man City

Jimbo is joined in the studio by Daniel Storey, Tim Spiers and Adrian Clarke as the race for Champions League football hots up. Arsenal can only draw at Old Trafford, allowing Liverpool’s lead to extend to 15 points. With goals still proving an issue outside of Eindhoven, could their place in the top 5 be under threat? The same question has to be asked of Man City who lose to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. How did Pep get Nuno’d again? Maybe the game of the weekend is at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as an impressive Bournemouth somehow only draw after taking a 2-0 lead. Would Andoni Iraola ever consider taking the Spurs job? Plus where it’s going wrong for Cole Palmer and why it’s going right for Crystal Palace. Produced by Charlie Jones. Liverpool pick PSG’s pockets, as Arsenal hit seven ahead of Old Trafford trip

Jimbo is in the studio with Duncan Alexander, Natalie Gedra and Charlie Eccleshare after a mind-blowing Champions League midweek. PSG dominate Liverpool and have all the shots but lose 1-0 thanks to an inspired performance from Alisson. Julien Laurens ponders whether this young team can go to Anfield and outplay the Reds again. Art De Roche was in Eindhoven to see Arsenal secure a scarcely believable 7-1 win over PSV. Where did that come from and could we see it again at Old Trafford on Sunday? Elsewhere, there are sensational goals at the Bernabeu as Real hold a narrow advantage over Atletico, while it’s a nightmare night for Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen against Kane and Kompany’s Bayern. The Premier League weekend sees Forest host Man City in a big game for the top 4/5 race. Will Nuno be as happy as he was on Monday night? Plus Raphinha, reverse scorpions and which managers could still play for their clubs? Produced by Charlie Jones. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: PSG 0-1 Liverpool with Julien Laurens (04.30) • PART 2: PSV 1-7 Arsenal with Art De Roche (19.30) • PART 3: The rest of the Champions League midweek (31.00) • PART 4a: Forest v Man City preview (46.00) • PART 4b: The rest of the Premier League weekend (53.00) Hosted on Acast. Can Newcastle keep hold of Isak?

Alexander Isak is one of Europe’s most prolific strikers having scored 17 goals in his last 17 games since the start of December. The Swede has helped fire Newcastle United to Wembley and has also put them in the mix for Champions League qualification. But the question is can they deliver the success needed to keep him at St James’ Park? Ayo Akinwolere is joined by The Athletic's Chris Waugh and Jacob Whitehead to explore what it is that makes Isak the player he is as well as the cult hero he's become on Tyneside before exploring how difficult, or not, it may be to keep hold of him this summer. Host: Ayo Akinwolere With: Chris Waugh and Jacob Whitehead Executive Producer: Adey Moorhead Producer: Guy Clarke Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Alisson Saves the Day, Bayern Ease Past Leverkusen and More!

Musa and Ryan begin with an amazing result for Liverpool, who scored with their second shot to come back from Paris with a 1-0 lead against a PSG side who were brilliant but came up against a mighty Alisson Becker performance (02:52). Bayern are all but through, after a 3-0 win on what was a very disappointing night for Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen (10:10). Barcelona held out for a 1-0 win in Lisbon, despite being down to 10 for 70 minutes (15:22). Inter beat Feyenoord in Rotterdam, and Lautaro Martínez became Inter's all-time leading Champions League scorer (22:04).
