The Salah situation, some World Cup draw thoughts, big admin and more!

There’s some important admin up top about the upcoming Christmas episodes, a Patreon offer and news on our next show at the Southbank Centre! Musa and Ryan then chat about Mo Salah’s mixed zone comments that followed Liverpool’s 3-3 draw away at Leeds which look like starting the process of him potentially leaving the club (09:07) and is the latest situation in an already very difficult season. The Salah situation mean that there isn’t as much chat about the game itself, but there is also praise for Leeds (26:22), as well as Aston Villa’s late win over Arsenal at Villa Park and a quick round-up of some other Premier League games. There’s also time to shout out some other results from the weekend (36:07), including Hearts' win at Celtic, the MLS Cup, Arab Cup, the WSL, Serie A and La Liga, before some thoughts on the World Cup draw (42:14), which took place on Friday. Tickets for our second live show at the Southbank Centre in London are on sale here. Barcelona vs Atlético Madrid - prediction, team news, lineups

Barcelona and Atlético Madrid will be looking to boost their respective title aspirations when they face off in Tuesday's La Liga clash at Camp Nou. The hosts are leading the way at the top of the table, while Diego Simeone's side are three points adrift in fourth position. Match preview Barcelona may be struggling to replicate their high performance levels of last season, but they have

More Real points dropped, Milan top + could PSG really be stopped?

Jimbo’s joined by the Euro crew as James Horncastle, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens assemble for our weekly slice of continental action. We begin in La Liga, where Real Madrid continue to falter - held to their third consecutive draw, this time at the hands of Girona. Barca managed to take advantage and reclaim top stop after their 3-1 win over Alaves - but there’s just a point between each of the top four as the title race hots up! In France, Paul Pogba’s Monaco toppled PSG! But Marseille also managed to drop points! So it’s Lens who go top of the table! For the first time since 2004! Over in Italy, Milan continued their remarkable record against Serie A’s big boys in their 1-0 win over Lazio. It means they’re top of the league - but only on goal difference after Napoli’s narrow 1-0 win at Roma on Sunday night. Plus, the sorry tale of Fiorentina’s winless campaign. And in the Bundesliga, Bayern need TWO stoppage time goals to get the better of lowly St Pauli, stretching their lead at the summit to eight points - while Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira bagged a 94th minute winner of his own to help Hamburg get the better of Stuttgart. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.40) • PART 2: La Liga review - Barca go top as Real’s wobble continues (13.35) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Lens take advantage as PSG & Marseille falter (26.50) • PART 4: Serie A review - Milan go top as Napoli get back on track (36.00) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Dortmund climbing and Sandro Wagner sacked (52.05) Hosted on Acast. Arsenal v Bayern & Chelsea v Barca headline European midweek

Jimbo beams in Seb-Stafford Bloor from Hamburg and James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Pol Ballús in the studio (!) for a latest dose of European and poultry-based chitchat ahead of MD5 in the Champions League. It’s a midweek full of fascinating ties with Arsenal hosting Bayern, Chelsea welcoming Barca - and PSG taking on Tottenham (again) as we enter the latter stages of the league phase. We’ve got all the usual tales from across the leagues, including Marseille purring in Ligue 1 ahead of the visit of Newcastle on Tuesday night - as they put five past Nice in unkind fashion on Friday night. In Germany, Bayern gave Freiburg a two-goal head start but still managed to win 6-2, with Michael Olise turning on the style as he prepares to face former Palace teammate Eberechi Eze on Wednesday evening… The Serie A title race shows no sign of letting up as it was Milan who took the bragging rights in the Derby della Madonnina - but it’s Roma who lead the way at the top of the table as Evan Ferguson finally opened his account! While in Spain, there’s signs of discontent at Real Madrid as they dropped yet more points, this time at newly promoted Elche - and that’s before the news that Vini Jr and Xavi Alonso aren’t too chummy… more on that later in the week! Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Hellos, degrees - and moments of the weekend - (00.45) • PART 2: UCL MD5 key ties/ Ligue 1 review - João Neves = goal machine (11.10) • PART 3: More UCL fun/ Bundesliga review - Karl & Olise shine for Bayern (23.45) • PART 4: Serie A review - Milan is red and Bologna are great (40.00) • PART 5: La Liga review - Real drop more points as Antony sees red (53.00) Hosted on Acast. Crisis at the Bernabéu? La Liga Race Heating Up as Barcelona Close the Gap

Real Madrid have failed to win any of their last three matches in all competitions — is a crisis unfolding at the Bernabéu? Barcelona, meanwhile, have surged to within a point after a demolition job against Athletic Club, celebrating their return to the Camp Nou for the first time since May 2023. Gary and Alex also break down the form of the chasing pack — Atlético Madrid and Villarreal — and debate whether Diego Simeone is drifting back toward his old philosophy of results over style. Bayern no longer perfect, Conte being Conte - and ten Hag back to Ajax?!

Jimbo’s got Pol Ballús, James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Seb Stafford-Bloor all along for the rollercoaster ride through the weekend’s action across the continent. We kick things off in France, where PSG have João Neves to thank for their two-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table after his 95th minute winner against Lyon. But chasers Lens and Marseille had wins of their own to keep the pressure on Luis Enrique’s side. In the Bundesliga - Bayern didn’t win a game! But neither did Leipzig or Dortmund, meaning Vincent Kompany’s men have actually extended their lead at the top of the table to six points despite the 2-2 draw at Union Berlin. In Spain, Real Madrid were lucky to come away from Rayo Vallecano with a point - which Barcelona took full advantage of in their 4-2 win at Celta Vigo, featuring a hat-trick from 37-year-old Robert Lewandowski. A special guest joins us from Vigo… nothing to do with Nando’s…. And in Serie A, are we seeing a repeat of Napoli’s last title defence?! Antonio Conte made some… interesting comments after his side were beaten 2-0 by Bologna to fall behind Inter and Roma at the top of the table. Plus - what’s going on at Ajax?! Dutch football expert Michiel Jongsma joins us to explain some of the fun and games in the Eredivisie - and whether a certain ten Hag might be making a return… Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Ligue 1 review - PSG’s late winner and billionaire v billionaire (07.45) • PART 3: Bundesliga review - does no one want to stop Bayern? (20.35) • PART 4: Eredivisie review - Ajax’s latest crisis & RvP at Feyenoord (30.15) • PART 5: La Liga review - Barca’s new Camp Nou - plus a Messi return?! (41.45) • PART 5: Serie A review - Napoli wobbling and Juric out (56.40) Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Liverpool v Real & PSG v Bayern top midweek Champions League billing

Jimbo, Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle are all aboard for your latest Euro Edition - with a pretty mouthwatering MD4 upon us in the Champions League. We begin with some of those key midweek battles including yet another showdown between PSG and Bayern, the Trent/ Alonso Derby as Real Madrid head back to Anfield - and the meeting of minds as Marseille v Atalanta pits Roberto De Zerbi against Ivan Jurić. Domestically, in Serie A Luciano Spalletti began life as Juve manager with a 2-1 win at Cremonese - and he’s not shy about their title ambitions this season, just four points behind Napoli in top spot. Real Madrid maintained their commanding position at the top of the La Liga table - but are things all as they seem behind the scenes under Xabi Alonso’s management? After a peculiar round of results in midweek PSG got back to winning ways and are two points clear at the top of Ligue 1 - while Monaco tasted defeat for the first time under Sébastien Pocognoli. And in the Bundesliga - there’s questions around Dortmund’s identity under Niko Kovač - and what the expectations are for Bayer Leverkusen as they were outclassed by a seemingly unstoppable Bayern. Plus - the ongoing Nando’s animosity continues - and garlic bread is added to the equation… Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Champions League MD4 standout fixtures (11.20) • PART 3: Serie A review - Spalletti’s bright start and Napoli’s big week (21.10) • PART 4: La Liga review - Unrest at Madrid despite near perfect start? (37.35) • PART 5: Ligue 1 review - Unconvincing Marseille and poor Monaco (53.45) • PART 6: Bundesliga review - Dortmund in flux and Gladbach finally win! (64.20) Hosted on Acast. Season 1985/86 Episode 2 - El Tel and Archigoles

In the summer of 1984 Terry Venables was the third-choice for the Barcelona job and had to fight the President to choose how to spend some of that Maradona transfer money but went on to win the club's first La Liga title in 11 years at a canter. That title was only a means to an end, however. Now that they had qualified for the European Cup, the quest was now on to reach their Holy Grail. Mike joins Martyn to discuss the two seasons as a whole as a manager that few fancied and a signing that fans had barely heard of would get so close to immortality and set in place a new culture that helped those who would follow. Bellingham shines in dramatic Clasico as Juve show Tudor the door

Jimbo’s got James Horncastle with him in the studio and Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens in far flung corners of Germany and Spain for your weekly round up of European footballing fun. There’s only one place to start - and that’s with events at the Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday afternoon as Real put an end to Barca’s recent Clásico dominance in typically tempestuous and dramatic fashion. Over in Italy, it was eight games without a win too many for Igor Tudor - dismissed by Juventus after their 1-0 defeat at Lazio. Meanwhile, Napoli went back top but lost KDB in bizarre circumstances - and back-flipping Jamie Vardy opened his Cremonese account! In a shock twist of fate Harry Kane *didn’t* score for Bayern Munich this weekend, but it didn’t matter as they made it 13 wins from 13 games in all competitions in their 3-0 victory at Gladbach. Closest challengers Leipzig continued their sensational form as they put six past Augsburg. And in Ligue 1, PSG are back on top thanks to their 3-0 win at Brest - taking full advantage of the defeat handed out to Marseille by high-flying Lens who are now up to second in the table! All that plus - cancelled holidays in Miami, unsightly gestures and plenty of ill-tempered confrontations. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend - and top-secret snails… (00.45) • PART 2: La Liga Review - Jude stars as Yamal starts arguments (10.30) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - PSG back on top as Lyon continue to surprise (24.35) • PART 4: Serie A review - Tudor no more as Napoli return to winning ways (30.45) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Leipzig on fire and Karl only scores bangers (48.10) Hosted on Acast. Madrid’s Magic, Bellingham’s Brilliance & Say Less, Lamine

Jude Bellingham steals the show as Real Madrid beat Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu to move five points clear at the top of La Liga. But did Lamine Yamal’s pre-match comments come back to haunt him after a quiet performance on the big stage? Gary and Alex also break down Vinícius Jr.’s antics as he walked down the tunnel following his substitution by Xabi Alonso. Real Madrid win El Clásico! Are they better off without Vini Jr.? + Why the Union’s shaky Game 1 win is cause for concern

Christian Polanco and Alexis Guerreros react to Real Madrid’s win over Barcelona in El Clásico. Vinicius Junior was unhappy after being subbed off and reportedly threatened to leave the team. Would Los Blancos be better off without him, or is he irreplaceable? Next, Christian and Alexis analyze the MLS playoff games from the weekend — should the Philadelphia Union be concerned after a shaky Game 1 win against Chicago? Later, the boys discuss the latest in the Premier League, including Manchester City’s and Liverpool’s recent struggles.

Real Madrid beat Barcelona in the first Clásico of the season

Goals, red cards and spiritual onsides! Musa and Ryan begin with Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Barcelona at the Bernabéu, in the first Clásico of the season (02:00) and Xabi Alonso’s first as a manager. It opened up a five point gap at the top of La Liga, as Villarreal closed the gap on Barça in third. It was a wild Premier League weekend too (26:03), as Bournemouth went second, Sunderland went fourth, Liverpool lost again, Villa continued their good run and Arsenal increased their lead at the top. Finally, there’s a quick shout out for the top of Serie A (41:39), although this was recorded before the news that Juventus had sacked Igor Tudor, so that’ll have to wait for Wednesday’s show and, finally, a quick shout for the Bundesliga. Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús, Julien Laurens and James Horncastle (at the airport!) are alongside Jimbo for your latest dose of intriguing European fare from across the continent. In Serie A, Juventus and Milan played out a goalless draw, allowing Napoli to take advantage and take back top spot after their come from behind 2-1 win over Genoa - courtesy of a late winner from Rasmus Hojlund no less. Big wins and big narratives in the Premier League

It’s early days, but following on from last weekend, it felt like the balance shifted in the Premier League this match day. Narratives were flipped and results seemed more crucial, heading into the men’s international break. Arsenal’s win at home to West Ham saw them go top (19:37), with the noise from a fortnight ago fully subsiding. Elsewhere (32:31), Everton ended Palace’s unbeaten run, Manchester United kept it calm, Bournemouth continue to impress and much more in the Premier League. Finally, there’s a quick shout out for La Liga, the Bundesliga, Serie A and more (40:01). Atleti stun Real as Barca v PSG headlines Champions League week

Jimbo assembles the Euro crew as Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle chat through all the weekend’s domestic drama - and look ahead to MD2 in the Champions League. In Serie A, there was a statement of intent from Milan in their 2-1 win over Napoli on Sunday night to take Max Allegri’s side top of the table. They’re on 12 points alongside the men from Naples and Roma - who made it four wins from five against Hellas Verona. Real Madrid were handed a shock on Saturday afternoon - beaten 5-2 by city rivals Atleti to end their perfect start to the season in emphatic fashion. Elsewhere, injury-ravaged Barcelona took full advantage - into first place after their come from behind, 2-1 win over Real Sociedad. But what shape are they in to take on PSG on Wednesday night? Speaking of - the French champions eased to a 2-0 win over Auxerre after their defeat by Marseille last Monday. Lyon moved level on points at the top with Luis Enrique’s side courtesy of a goal from Tyler Morton in their 1-0 victory at Lille. And in the Bundesliga - Harry Kane smashed yet more records, as his brace in Bayern’s 4-0 win over Werder Bremen meant he became the fastest player this century to reach 100 goals for a club playing in one of Europe's top five leagues. All that plus the Labubu black market, Panama hats - and a celebration of 0-0’s. Produced by Lucy Oliva. Real Madrid and Florian Wirtz

We continue to monitor teams and players that are underperforming our expectations, or, perhaps, overperforming and then suddenly dramatically underperforming our expectations in the case of Real Madrid. What went wrong in the Madrid Derby and what does it tell us about Xabi's new-look Madrid? And after Liverpool's underwhelming early season statistics finally translated into dropped points against Crystal Palace, we consider why Florian Wirtz is not producing at his previous level. A Ballon d'Or for Dembele and goals galore for Kane

Jimbo’s got James Horncastle, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens for company as the Euro gang dive into another busy weekend of action from across the continent. In La Liga, Real Madrid continued their sensational run of form to begin the season with their latest victory, a 2-0 win over Espanyol featuring two absolute golazo’s from Éder Militão and Kylian Mbappé. They maintained their two-point lead over Barcelona - who beat Getafe 3-0 - with Marcus Rashford starting on the bench due to his poor timekeeping… Over in France, we were made to wait for Le Classique with dramatic storms sweeping over the Cote d'Azur… don’t worry, Jules will give his reaction to *that* result next week! Thankfully, we were able to talk about a fiery Brittany derby and Monaco’s resurgent Ansu Fati. In Serie A, Juve were perhaps suffering from a UCL hangover as they were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at Hellas Verona, while Lorenzo Pellegrini’s remarkable redemption arc at Roma continued as he scored the only goal in Roma’s first win ‘away’ to Lazio since 2016. And in the Bundesliga, you’ll never guess… Harry Kane is scoring goals! Three of them to be precise - taking his tally to 70 goals in 67 league matches. But he wasn’t the only British export bagging a dreierpack - with Oliver Burke getting three of his own in Union Berlin’s 4-3 victory at Frankfurt! Plus - we’ve got plenty of Ballon d’Or chat, loud helicopters and particularly cheeky Nandos… Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the week & Ballon d’Or chat (00.40) • PART 2: La Liga review - Real keep winning with Madrid derby round the corner (20.55) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Emegha shows his commitment to Strasbourg (35.40) • PART 4: Serie A review - worrying times for Fiorentina, Lazio & Torino (44.35) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - goal machine Kane - and Burke! Chaos or control? Take aways from the Premier League weekend and more

It was a weekend where two high profile Premier League games played out in very different ways. Musa and Ryan begin with a quick round-up, including Liverpool extending their lead at the top, thanks to their 2-1 win over Everton in the Merseyside derby (03:04). It was chaos at Old Trafford on a rain-soaked Saturday evening (07:44), but Manchester United did enough to get a much needed win against Chelsea. It took them level on points with Manchester City, where control was the name of the game in the 1-1 draw away at Arsenal (15:28), which saw Pep Guardiola record the lowest possession percentage of his managerial career. There’s also a round-up of the Bundesliga (25:23), La Liga and Atleti’s identity (30:28), Mourinho’s return, including an accidental mini ‘what if’ (36:08) and more! Juve 4-3 Inter, Barca hit six and the Champions League returns

The Euro crew are back as Jimbo, Pol Ballús, James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Seb Stafford-Bloor (in person!) assemble for a bumper look ahead to Matchday 1 in the Champions League. Barcelona proved it’s a case of no Yamal, no stadium, no problem - routing Valencia 6-0 in front of less than 6,000 fans at the Johan Cruyff Stadium. But it’s Real who continue to set the early pace - reduced to 10-men but still able to get the better of Sociedad to maintain their perfect start to the season. The game of the weekend came in Serie A, where the Derby d'Italia certainly didn’t disappoint as the Thuram brothers took centre stage in a 4-3 thriller in Turin. Plus - Antonio Conte 2.0 shows he’s not as inflexible as everyone thinks - with his Napoli side coasting to a 3-1 win at Fiorentina to also make it three wins from three at the start of the campaign. Bayern warmed up for the visit of Chelsea with an emphatic 5-0 Bundesliga victory over Hamburg on Saturday, while Leverkusen got the post-ten Hag era off to a winning start in their 3-1 beating of Frankfurt - despite being reduced to nine men! PSG suffered injury blows aplenty in their 2-0 win over Lens which featured an emotional goodbye to one of their own - Presnel Kimpembe - after more than 20 years at the club. Plus, how equipped are Marseille to come away from the Bernabéu with a result in one of the most intriguing ties of the round? All that plus training ground cats, Charli xcx’s wedding, nights out in Monaco and a whole lot of innuendo (we can only apologise). Produced by Lucy Oliva. City win the Manchester derby, more questions for Amorim and a wild derby d’Italia

Ruben Amorim lost his first Manchester derby on the weekend, to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, and there were more questions for the United manager, who has had an underwhelming start to the season. Musa and Ryan chat about the game (04:04), plus whether Amorim is giving himself enough of a chance to get United into a position to implement his system properly, before a quick round-up of the rest of the Premier League, including another late win for Liverpool (24:48). Next it’s onto the brilliant derby d’Italia, which saw Juventus win it late, 4-3 against Inter (32:09), plus St. Pauli’s best start to a Bundesliga season ever (40:21), while Bayern maintain their 100% record and, in Spain, Barcelona put six past Valencia, despite a late relocation for the game and Thomas Müller is having fun in Vancouver.
