Jimbo assembles Duncan Alexander, Daniel Storey and Matt Davies-Adams onto the pod after a stunning and seismic weekend of Premier League football. Liverpool inflict a 4th successive league defeat on champions Man City at Anfield. Arne Slot’s serene start continues as the Reds go 9 points clear in the title race. Who are the most likely challengers? Is it Chelsea for whom Caicedo and Cucurella are playing sensationally? Or is it free-scoring Arsenal? And are we getting fooled into thinking Bukayo Saka will break the assist record? It’s an emphatic victory for Man United in Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge as the pressure mounts on Sean Dyche at Everton. Plus have Leicester taken too big a punt on Van Nistelrooy and could Newcastle ever challenge the title? Produced by Charlie Jones. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Liverpool 2-0 Man City with James Pearce (05.00) • PART 2a: Man United 4-0 Everton (20.00) • PART 2b: Chelsea 3-0 Aston Villa (26.00) • PART 2c: Spurs 1-1 Fulham with Jay Harris (34.00) • PART 3a: West Ham 2-5 Arsenal (38.00) • PART 3b: Wolves 2-4 Bournemouth (46.00) • PART 4: The rest of the Premier League weekend (50.00) Hosted on Acast. Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe recap a pivotal Matchweek 13 in the Premier League that had major implications on the title race

Vicky Gomersall is joined by The Mirror's Darren Lewis and Sky Sports Reporter Gary Cotterill to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We start by looking at Manchester City and Liverpool, and Gary praises Arne Slot’s job at building a ‘castle’ at Liverpool. Also, are Arsenal back? Darren feels there are levels to go for Arsenal but commends the connection between Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. Next, Juliette Ferrington sits down with Arne Slot. Slot talks of nerves upon arrival at Anfield, enjoying winning, and how much the team means to people in the city of Liverpool. We consider Mohamed Salah’s contract situation; Gary makes an argument that Salah deserves an extension, mentioning a number of footballers of a similar age making a difference. Finally, Patrick Davidson's exclusive interview with Pep Guardiola, who says “now it’s time to suffer." Pep knew this difficult period would eventually come, talking of challenges with injuries, and the importance of temporary struggle to realise past feats. Sunday Supplement is a Sky Sports podcast. Kelly Cates was joined by Jamie Redknapp and Theo Walcott on Saturday Night Football and watched Arsenal travel to West Ham. The Gunners cut Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table with their 5-2 win at the London stadium. Redknapp heaped praise on Bukayo Saka, saying that ‘his level is frightening’ after the winger registered another two assists and a goal. Saka was named as player of the match and spoke to Natalie Gedra after the game, and said he takes ‘pleasure from creating and scoring but the greatest pleasure is to win’. There are also the postmatch views from both Mikel Arteta and Julen Lopetegui, who was critical of some of Anthony Taylor’s refereeing decisions. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Newcastle fan Simon Bibby and West Ham fan Chris Stone to discuss the latest at their clubs and the FPL assets within them ahead of Monday's meeting at St James's Park. Will either Correspondent give James reason not to buy Alexander Isak? And he's not the only Newcastle asset under consideration, with Lewis Hall likely to be popular for those in search of an enabling defender and there's a warning not to forget about Anthony Gordon and Joelinton's positioning could soon make him an interesting prospect. Jarrod Bowen for Bryan Mbeumo in GW14 is a move James earmarked in pre-season, but is there any faith in The Hammers who sit in 14th currently and with the pressure mounting on Julen Lopetegui. Mohammed Kudus also return in GW14, there's discussion too on what's happening with Lucas Paqueta and will 4.0 keeper Lukasz Fabianski retain his place in goal for the weeks ahead? Will Tyler Dibling regain his place in the Saints team? Can any of Saints enabling forwards be considered and the case is made for still considering Taylor Harwood-Bellis. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard and Nottingham Forest fan Mark Sutherns to discuss the FPL assets at their clubs and the current key talking points ahead of the GW12 meeting between the clubs at The Emirates. And it's two clubs who currently sit inside the top 5 on 19 points. Forest have very much exceeded expectation so far, so is a push for European qualification now a realistic goal? While for Arsenal the gap to leaders Liverpool is already 9 points, how concerning is this or do Arsenal now have a set of fixtures that will make them believe they can close the gap? There's discussion on key attacking Arsenal assets Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, whether double Arsenal defence is the way to go, why Jurrien Timber is likely to attract increased attention and the importance of Martin Odegaard's return. While Forest assets, it now looks tough on the fixture ticker, is talisman Chris Wood now in the sell or avoid zone despite an impressive season? Or should he and a defensive asset, with excellent defensive numbers, still be considered for investment? Suj and James discuss a miserable weekend, no, laugh at a miserable weekend of red arrows, failed Fantasy returns, and dismal home showing for the clubs they support! Yeah it's that kind of vibe. All the games reviewed as usual which included those disappointing days for West Ham and Tottenham and another disappointing day for vulnerable Manchester City, who were beaten by a Brighton side who now very much appeal for Fantasy managers and so to will Chelsea and Arsenal assets following their draw at Stamford Bridge. Both have very positive long-term fixtures. But the player the lads will probably want to but most is Alexander Isak, there's interest too in double ups on teams defensively, a Trent replacement may be needed, Mo Salah was on it again and provided another double point return ahead of facing the league's bottom side in Gameweek 12. Comparisons with Erik Ten Hag, Amorim’s charismatic media presence and the great work done at Sporting Lisbon. There’s news about La Liga games possibly coming to US soil, and of course there’s time for some personalized football recommendations and to talk about our favorite baldies. Is there too much football at the top level of the game? It's a hot topic of debate particularly in light of Rodri suffering a serious injury only days after speaking out again about the demands on players physically and mentally at the upper echelons of the game. Clayton joins James for an open discussion on if the likes of Rodri are right, and if so, what can be done to change things? Conversation features the Science opinion on how many games games top players are asked to play, why the manager and player opinion often differs from 'the club' demands, the future of the Carabao Cup, whether the FIFA Club World Cup will actually happen, if players could actually consider strike action and a suggestion that might actually have some legs in the longer-term to reduce the amount of games players participate in. Liverpool advanced to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 5-1 victory over West Ham United at Anfield on Wednesday night. The holders had to recover from a Jarell Quansah own goal to ensure their defence moved past the first obstacle but ultimately did so dominantly, with Diogo Jota swiftly equalising. Jota put the Reds ahead on the night four minutes into the second half, Mohamed Salah later rose from the bench to make it three, and Cody Gakpo glossed the score further with a double in the closing moments. Hear reactions from inside the Anfield dressing room from Arne Slot, Diogo Jota, and Curtis Jones while former Reds Neil Mellor and Jay Spearing analyse the key talking points with Mark Benstead in LFCTV’s post-match show.
