We also chat with a player starting out his Whitecaps journey, homegrown defender Mihail Gherasimencov, about joining the first team, his time in the CPL with Cavalry, playing internationally for Moldova, and his footballing journey so far. All of this plus we move onto the letter J in our Canadian Soccer A to Z series and music-wise, Scottish band Bis begin their residency as our Artists of the Month, The Pastels are the latest band to feature in our 40th anniversary tribute year to the C86 movement, and Football Violence Awareness Month begins again in Wavelength. Biggest USMNT questions 100 days out of the 2026 World Cup (Soccer 3/3)

With 100 days to go until the 2026 World Cup, Jimmy Conrad, Charlie Davies, and Marcelo Balboa dig into the biggest questions facing Mauricio Pochettino. The crew tip their caps to two American centurions (05:38) - our very own Tony Meola and Joe-Max Moore - and identify the biggest areas of concern heading into the tournament: goalkeeper uncertainty and center back depth (09:18). All eyes are on the Noahkai Banks situation - could the Augsburg phenom slip through the cracks with Germany also in the picture (18:10)? Then it’s a wide-ranging Americans Abroad check-in (29:20), including a debate over whether Mauricio Pochettino brings three or four strikers (30:35). Weston McKennie’s new Juventus contract extension (36:39) sparks a conversation about mindset and motivation, and the crew also highlights the Americans still alive in European competitions (47:22). Finally, MLS Matchday 2 delivers plenty to unpack (55:13): Charlie vents about New England’s rough start (58:55), RBNY and RSL continue to trust their young talent (1:02:52), and San Jose offers a pathway for college standouts (1:04:25). Caught Offside: Tottenham's Relegation Reality, Arsenal Happy in the Corner, Bruno Fernandes Appreciation Pod

On the latest edition of Caught Offside, Andrew and JJ take a look at the top of the table as Arsenal are one corner better than Chelsea in a match featuring much bear-hugging, face-punching and red carding. We also discuss the Semenyo bounce that Man City have received from their big January signing and we share our appreciation of everything Bruno Fernandes has given Manchester United since becoming their big January signing. And then, it's on to Tottenham as Spurs lose, 2-1, to Fulham and move ever-closer to the unthinkable. Why is this happening? Is it the manager? Is it the players? Is it the referees? And would a Spurs survival feel as triumphant as Everton's did or would this be a survival of a different kind? And finally, we close out the pod by giving it up to Weston McKennie on his contract extension with Juventus and by analyzing the dual-national decision that lies ahead of potential USMNT centerback, Noahkai Banks. Newcastle v Man Utd | CotC with Simon Bibby & Alex Trembath | Planet FPL 2025/26

On Clash of the Correspondents it's a meeting of the United's as James is joined by Newcastle fan Simon Bibby and Manchester United fan Alex Trembath ahead of Wednesday's games at St James's Park... but both are in contrasting form. Manchester United have 6 wins and a draw from Michael Carrick's first 7 games and are now up to third - is the interim manager making himself the choice for the full time gig? Over the same 7 Gameweeks Newcastle have only picked up four points and the pressure is mounting on Eddie Howe. Plus FPL chat on the likes of Malick Thiaw, Anthony Gordon, Bryan Mbeumo and the in-form Benjamin Sesko. And of course, Bruno Fernandes. Co-commentary cues, flopping full-backs & the "one of our own" threshold, with Lucy Ward

The pod welcomes TNT Sports co-commentator Lucy Ward for the latest edition of Mesut Haaland Dicks, as she chooses her six personal fascinations and irritations of football. Among Lucy's selections are the joy of young players making their senior debut, fence-perching and megaphone-toting Continental ultras, the post-goal cue for a co-commentator to wax lyrical, the "Ayling Flop" and clubs tenuously claiming youth signings as "one of their own". Meanwhile, the Adjudication Panel hear an unexpected pre-penalty shout at Yeovil, ponder a potential technicality in awarding the save of the season, and get mathematical about passes being put on a proverbial "sixpence". Pascal Chimbonda | Transfer Request In The Sock

New series. Eight years deep. Same nonsense. We’re kicking things off with a belter… Pascal Chimbonda and trust us, he delivers. Perhaps the most laid-back man in the world, but my word he’s got some stories. Rocking up at Wigan without speaking a word of English, his time there was eventful on and off the pitch. A brilliant debut season saw him earn a shock call-up to France’s World Cup squad but it all ended in dramatic fashion when he handed in a transfer request in the dressing room straight after the final game of the season. With front-row seats for Zidane’s infamous headbutt, we find out exactly what Wigan’s Pascal Chimbonda says to French legend Zizou after he’s potentially cost him a World Cup winners’ medal. Dubbed Roy Keane’s “worst ever signing”, we dig into what really went wrong between them and along the way hear plenty of stories about being pinned up by Big Dunc, Jimmy Bullard’s antics, and sharing a dressing room with Browny at Doncaster. 96: How Messi Changed The MLS: Luciano Wernicke Explains

On this episode of Inside College Soccer, Don Williams sits down with acclaimed soccer author Luciano Wernicke to discuss his latest book, The Lionel Messi Story: How One Man Revolutionized Major League Soccer. Wernicke, author of more than 20 books on global football, breaks down the remarkable journey of Lionel Messi - from a young boy in Rosario overcoming growth hormone deficiency to becoming a World Cup champion and one of the most influential athletes in history. The conversation explores Messi’s defining decision at 14 to leave Argentina for FC Barcelona, and how elite environments, culture, and long-term belief systems create world-class players. The discussion then turns to Messi’s historic move to Inter Miami CF in Major League Soccer, the strategic vision of David Beckham, and what Messi’s arrival truly means for the growth and global credibility of soccer in the United States. Wernicke also shares perspective from his time working with the Costa Rica men’s national soccer team, offering insight into what it realistically takes to build a nation capable of winning a World Cup - and whether the U.S. is moving in that direction. A must-listen conversation for players, parents, coaches, and anyone serious about understanding the cultural, structural, and strategic forces shaping the future of the game in America. 📖 The book is available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Books-a-Million, and wherever books are sold. 🎧 Presented by Sports Recruiting USA - www.srusasoccer.com 🤝 Sponsored by www.gapyearsoccer.com

Title Race Tension & The Premier League’s Falling Standards

Arsenal once again turn to their set-piece strength to edge past Chelsea and stay ahead of Manchester City in the title race. But with their forwards misfiring, can the Gunners really power their way to the Premier League title relying so heavily on dead-ball situations? City, meanwhile, grind out a crucial win over promoted Leeds United to keep the pressure on. Could their big winter signings prove decisive down the stretch? And with 14 wins from 18 league games without Erling Haaland, it raises a bold question: are City actually a more complete team without their superstar striker? Gary, Alan and Micah also tackle a wider issue: has the Premier League’s overall standard declined? Are rigid tactical systems and over-coaching draining the entertainment from the game? And is modern football losing the spark that once made it so compelling? The Rest Is Football is powered by Fuse Energy.
