It's been a week of excellent cup victories for Manchester City. To celebrate, David Mooney is joined by Dom Farrell from Sporting News and City fan Chris Higginbottom. They discuss the 10-1 win over Exeter and then the 2-0 success in the first leg of the League Cup semifinal at Newcastle. It was the first time since 1987 that City scored double-figures in a game and, strangely, the scoreline matched the date (for only the 18th time in City's history)... but it was a remarkable bit of history-making from Pep Guardiola's side. At the same time, City were also on the receiving end of a VAR controversy, as the video assistant took five-and-a-half minutes to disallow what seems to be a perfectly reasonable goal at St James's Park. With trips to Manchester United and Bodø/Glimt to come, we hear from Jay Mottershead from The Stretford Paddock and Norwegian journalist covering Glimt, Stian Høgland to get some idea of what City can expect this week.Plus, as young players like Max Alleyne and Ryan McAidoo impress, we discuss what options Guardiola has for the upcoming games and how necessary it is for the club to move again in the transfer market this month, as Antoine Semenyo settles in very nicely.==========To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. Day 3 of Correspondent Week concludes with Gary Mantle joining James to talk all things Chelsea including all the summer incomings and outgoings. One of those who has arrived is Joao Pedro has starred at the Club World Cup, but many are bemused by his current 50%+ ownership in FPL, though Gary thinks that at 7.5 he may well be underpriced! He's not the only Blues asset with high ownership with Cole Palmer likely to be a lock for many FPL managers for GW1. There's also conversation on defensive assets including Robert Sanchez, Marc Cucurella and Levi Colwill, Alternative attacking assets such as Pedro Neto and Enzo Fernandez are debated and could Moises Caicedo be the standout 5.5? Plus, there's thoughts on what could yet happen in the transfer market and how some who are leaving the club but staying in the Premier League could do for FPL. Correspondent Week Day 1 concludes with Ruaidhri McLaughlin-Dowd joining James to discuss the FA Cup Winners, but we can't yet be sure about what European competition they will be in with their Europa League ban appeal yet to be heard by The Court of Arbitration for Sport. And that is making life difficult for Palace in the transfer market, where talk remains more about outgoings than incomings. Will Marc Guehi and Ebe Eze still be Palace players at the end of the month? THE GAME THAT CHANGED THE WORLD. Like Seal or Beyonce, it needs only one name: "La Remontada" or "The Comeback" in English. Ahead of Barcelona's clash with PSG in this week's Champions League slate, Rog and New York Times chief soccer correspondent Rory Smith revisit that glorious night in the spring of 2017 when Barca fought back from down 4-0 on aggregate in their Champions League Round of 16 matchup against PSG, going on to score six (yes, six!) goals in the second leg, including three from the 87th minute beyond. Rog and Rory breakdown how that game would forever alter the landscape of world football, prompting PSG to sign Neymar for unthinkable amounts of money, sending Barcelona into a financial tailspin, and wreaking havoc on the global transfer market. Then, Rog and Rory head to Athens to deep dive on Greece's domestic powerhouse Olypmiacos, including their hot headed, shipping magnate, songwriting, potentially match-fixing, multi-hyphenate owner Evangelos Marinakis (who just so happens to also own Nottingham Forest). Plus, Rory gives him recommendation on where to find (and, more importantly, how to pronounce) the best gyros in Athens. All this and more on the latest European Nights.... It’s a Planet FPL debut for new Crystal Palace correspondent Ruaidhri McLaughlin-Dowd as he joins James to give the lowdown on The Eagles, and there are concerns that Palace may be about to have a season where they stand still rather than kick on. There’s reflection on Patrick Vieira’s dismissal and the improved run under Roy Hodgson, but is it the right call to have then reappointed him on a full-time basis? Could it partly be because Palace haven’t looked like doing much business in the transfer market and that Hodgson remains a safe pair of hands until the man Palace wants is available? With Wilfried Zaha gone and Michael Olise injured much of the onus will fall on the popular Ebe Eze to provide the attacking output in the season to come, he now looks the clear talisman for FPL and at 6.5 will appeal. But does he need a better support cast to allow him to flourish? Could 19 year-old Brazilian Matheus Franca prove to be the much needed attacking addition that Palace need? Plus, does the signing of Jefferson Lerma signal a return to a more pragmatic Palace? And does it mean their defensive assets at 4.5 should appeal more?
