England took on the Netherlands and gave us reasons to make noises, get excited about the World Cup and talk about Bas Dost, three things that are frankly long overdue. Discover our joy as we use phrases like “distribution”, “versatile” and “got a big Lampard.” Meanwhile, in the rest of the sport, Scotland got back underway with Big Eckos of the past and dispatches from the Hamburger queue, Cristiano Ronaldo reminded everybody who’s boss and we put out a call to Barrys everywhere. CiTR radio is in the middle of their annual Fundrive (their fundraising telethon to help keep the station producing the great shows it does). This is our first year of taking part in it, so we wanted to do something a little special and something a little bit different from our normal shows. Our Wavelength feature on football songs has proved to be popular, so we're bringing you another whole show of them! Our first Wavelength special was back in September 2015, Episode 129. That was on songs about and by football clubs. For the second special, the theme is songs about footballers, with all but one of the tracks also named after the player himself. We've got songs for you on Peter Beardsley around his time as a Vancouver Whitecaps players; Manchester United and Welsh legend Ryan Giggs; current Scotland manager Gordon Strachan; Another Scottish legend, Kenny Dalglish; former Trinidad and Tobago striker Jason Scotland; a couple of punk songs about Diego Maradona and Bobby Moore; how QPR cult hero Stan Bowles brought two friends closer together; and an interesting track about Man City's former Georgian playmaker, Georgi Kinkladze, and rounding it off, a bizarre lounge session from Tony Adams and the Arsenal team, well kind of. Have a listen and don't forget to let us know your own favourites for future shows.

Dario Zanatta interview and Vancouver Whitecaps v New England Revolution postgame show, featuring Kei Kamara, Brad Knighton, Kelyn Rowe, Jay Heaps and Carl Robinson.

Vancouver Whitecaps chat featuring Bruce Grobbelaar, Carl Robinson, Cole Seiler and a look back and ahead to the Canadian Championship games with Ottawa Fury. We're covering the Canadian Championship, MLS, USL, Euro 2016 and Copa America in this episode, so lots to listen to.

It's Episode 74 of "There's Still Time", the AFTN Soccer Podcast, and we're in a celebratory mood. Not just because the Vancouver Whitecaps beat Sporting Kansas City to get back into the playoff places in the MLS Western Conference, but also because this podcast was recorded on the 25th birthday/anniversary of when AFTN first began as a fanzine back in Scotland on August 10th 1989. So a special day for AFTN and a special day for the Whitecaps, who got back on track and finally stopped drawing. We pick over the bones and the highs and lows of the game and hear audio from both locker rooms, both coaches and a number of the players. On the Whitecaps side we hear from head coach Carl Robinson, goalscorer Darren Mattocks and goalkeeper David Ousted. And from Kansas City, we have a good chat with their head coach Peter Vermes (one of the best coaches to chat to in MLS in our opinion), their penalty-saving goalkeeper Jon Kempin and All-Star defender Matt Besler. And there's still time to look at whether the Whitecaps should/will make any further additions to the squad before the roster freeze, the USL Pro town forums and Canada's potential World Cup bid for 2026. Have a listen!

Soccer podcast covering Vancouver Whitecaps, MLS and the game of football in North America and beyond.
