Mbappe v Neymar and major Musiala hype

It’s the Euro crew of Jimbo, James Horncastle, Raphael Honigstein, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo in full effect. Drama in Paris as despite PSG’s rip-roaring start to the season, Kylian Mbappe falls out with Neymar over penalty duties and literally stops playing at one point. Lots for Luis Campos to sort out. In the Bundesliga, there’s a first goal for Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens. But it’s Bayern youngster Jamal Musiala who Lothar Matthaus thinks could be the best player in the world. Inter’s difficult summer doesn’t prevent them from securing a last-gasp victory at Lecce on the opening day of the Serie A season. And as La Liga returns, it’s not just Barcelona who are struggling to register players. Reasonably interesting guy

The domestic season comes to a close and rounding up all the drama, it’s Matt Davies-Adams, Michael Cox, Sasha Goryunov and Daniel Storey. But that’s only part of the story on a dramatic night. Peter Smith is joined by Sky Sports’ Nick Wright and Adam Bate from inside the Stade de France to dissect the big talking points. The panel reflect on the twists and turns on the pitch, picking out the standout performers and fine margins which swung it the Spanish side’s way, and also discuss the off-field issues, which saw Liverpool supporters struggle to get into the stadium and the match delayed by 37 minutes. Canaris have a Blas

After two rounds of Ligue 1 and the final of the Coupe de France which saw Nantes win the trophy for the fourth time, Kris and Jez mull over all the action (disclaimer - possibly not all the action). With two games to go - ish, there are some catch-up games today for the cup final contenders - there is still much to play for in relation to both the European places and the relegation battle.

Someone’s crying my Lord

Jimbo and the Euro crew of James Horncastle, Julien Laurens, Alvaro Romeo and Christoph Biermann discuss the business end of the season across the continent. The title race and the battle to stay in Serie A are both going to the wire. Is it a job well done for Jose Mourinho this season as Roma reach the Conference League final? Nantes are Coupe De France winners thanks to the French Sam Allardyce. Meanwhile Aurelien Tchouameni has some big suitors across Europe after another stellar display for Monaco. S10 EP3: Jarlath Regan / Mick McCarthy's Republic of Ireland

S10 EP3: Jarlath Regan / Mick McCarthy's Republic of Ireland We're joined this week by the comedian, presenter and podcaster - Jarlath Regan. We watch and discuss the superb documentary McCarthy's Park (available on youtube) which takes a look at Mick McCarthy's time in charge of ROI as they try and fail to qualify for the France 1998 World Cup. From the early seeds of troubles with Roy Keane, to hygienic tattoo parlours via some early (but not very effective) video analysis from Mick and his team over a few beers. It's a brilliant watch. And a different time. Elsewhere in the postbag we discuss Peter Shilton's tiny hands. George Weah as Prime Minister of Liberia, and players wearing the wrong shirts. Enjoy! Jarlath's brilliant podcast 'An Irishman Abroad' is available wherever you get your podcasts and the book he mentions 'Champagne Football' by Mark Tighe + Paul Rowan is well worth a read. In other news, on top of extended 'director of football cuts' of the main series episodes, all QK Fan Club members will now also get the episodes a whole WEEK EARLY - that's right, we now release on a Monday for QK Fan Club members and the following Monday for the non fan club listeners! We've also got the usual Patreon only bonus episodes every month - later this month it's chapter three of the second book in the Steve Bruce / Barnes murder mystery 'Sweeper!' with Ivo Graham. And on top of that a Patreon only QK Film Club deep dive and watch-a-long of the 1997 film 'Fever Pitch' based on Nick Hornby's seminal book of the same name. Thanks, Chris, Josh and Michael. PODCAST: Do some interesting rumors have the Galaxy being ambitious in Brazil and France?

- SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PODCAST: http://cornerofthegalaxy.com/subscribe/ - COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/drr9HFZY2P - COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- Are the LA Galaxy thinking outside the box when they're reportedly going after another French player? Why would it be different? And what is the club doing in Brazil? On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter want to update you on what could be another slow week for the club. But with a Saturday reporting date, are things about to heat up? Or is the calmness telling? Perhaps MLS is just in a position it's never been in before with a winter World Cup later this year? Josh and Kevin will start by explaining some of the dynamics behind a World Cup that is actually lining up in the league's favor. Does that mean some big moves could take place in the lead-up to the biggest sporting event in the world? And is MLS primed to capitalize? The guys will then debate the pros and cons of the MLS SuperDraft on Tuesday and talk about the Galaxy's history of draft picks. Are the Galaxy just really bad at this? Do they value the college development path at all? or is the SuperDraft a thing of the past? There are a lot of opinions, and we're sure you have your own. Next, the guys talk about the "gamble" the Galaxy made on Raheem Edwards and why a depth piece is garnering so much attention and a three-year contract. Does Vanney know something the rest of us don't on Edwards? And who much are the Galaxy willing to risk on Kelvin Leerdam and Raheem Edwards? Then the guys want to dive into two fascinating rumors. But only one of them has any smoke behind it, and both seem to be a gamble. Is Juventus' Douglas Costa leaving a second division team in Brazil to join the Galaxy? And are the Galaxy persuing one of the top attacking midfielders in Ligue 1 in Teji Savanier? Suffer through our horrible pronunciations and questionable logic, as we talk about Cristian Pavon being the "easy" choice and why Costa might be a motivational issue but relatively cheap. And would Savanier be a severe departure from who the Galaxy usually target? Could we call them ambitious? We've got a great show lined up for you, and we're glad you're joining us in the lead-up to the Galaxy's start of the preseason!

An assault on the rulebook

The Totally Football Show European Edition returns for 2022 with Jimbo, James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo. No doubting the game of the weekend across the continent as Juventus come from 3-1 down to beat Roma’s side packed full of Englishmen. Remember when Mourinho sides used to be able to defend? In Spain, Real Madrid’s team of 10 certain starters get back to winning ways. But the social media statements of Valencia and Real Betis criticising referees cast a shadow over La Liga. Bayern lose at home to Monchengladbach to mark the return of the Bundesliga – the league where no games get postponed. Monaco are under new management in France while PSG continue to make Jules sigh. Plus Spanish Super Cup, more misery for Shevchenko at Genoa and how Sassuolo will continue to solve Italy’s problems. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend (02m 00s) • PART 2: Roma 3-4 Juventus (09m 00s) • PART 3: The Bundesliga, where no games get postponed (20m 00s) • PART 4: La Liga clubs tweet criticism of referees (30m 00s) • PART 5: Monaco under new management (41m 00s) • PART 6: Salernitana saved in Serie A (47m 00s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC TODAY FOR 33% OFF THE PRICE OF AN ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com. 2022.01.10 - Any Tenuous Link

Happy New Year! Kris, Jez and Phil are here to round up the Coupe de France 16emes, and the 70% of Ligue 1 that happened at the weekend. Monaco have changed manager, the transfer window is open, TV coverage is...occasionally problematic, and unused goalkeepers with their shirts.

2021.12.23 - Bonnes Fetes a Toutes et a Tous...

Phil and Jez get together for a Christmas pod to round up the 9th round of the Coupe de France, game 19 in Ligue 1, and the standings at the halfway point.

Invisible friend

For the last time in 2021, it’s the European edition with Jimbo, James Horncastle, Raphael Honigstein, Alvaro Romeo and Julien Laurens. Is the title race over in the Bundesliga? Are Nagelsmann’s Bayern better than Flick’s Bayern? Or Pep’s Bayern? Similarly Inzaghi’s done some wonderful interior design at Inter. Are the Nerazzurri playing some of their best football ever? Atletico lose a third league game in a row for the first time under Simeone but there’s hope for Barcelona thanks to their talented youngsters. The Coupe de France is marred by yet more crowd violence as the game between Paris FC and Lyon is abandoned at half-time. And we end with some Secret Santa – or at least its audio equivalent. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend (02m 00s) • PART 2: Atalanta 1-4 Roma (06m 00s) • PART 3a: Atletico lose again, Real draw a blank (12m 30s) • PART 3b: Bayern go 9 points clear in the Bundesliga (19m 00s) • PART 4: Coupe De France – more fan trouble (29m 00s) • PART 5: Inter on fire in the title race (41m 30s) • PART 6a: Barca’s young guns having some fun (49m 00s) • PART 6b: Secret Santa! Gesture of the umbrella

Jimbo assembles the Euro crew of Raphael Honigstein, James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and Alvaro Romeo after some statement performances across the continent this weekend. Napoli dismantle Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio to stay top of Serie A but it’s been a bad week for Juventus. They’re under investigation off the pitch and are Max Allegri’s methods on the pitch behind the times? Erling Haaland is back with a bang, just in time for Der Klassiker next weekend. Can Dortmund finally get one over Bayern? Sergio Ramos finally makes his debut for PSG but it looks like they’ve lost Neymar till the New Year through injury. Real Madrid extend their lead at the top of La Liga with Vinicius in the form of his life and Benzema becoming a wiser player with age. Plus Belenenses Benfica and the Ballon D’Or goes to Messi. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend (01m 30s) • PART 2: Napoli 4-0 Lazio (07m 00s) • PART 3: Vinicius and Benzema star again for Real Madrid (14m 00s) • PART 4: Haaland’s back for Dortmund (27m 00s) • PART 5a: The World Cup play-off draw (34m 00s) • PART 5b: PSG win with Ramos but lose Neymar (40m 00s) • PART 6: A bad week for Juventus (48m 00s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC TODAY FOR 33% OFF THE PRICE OF AN ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com. Jadon and Donny, together at last

They've crawled through a river of shite, but Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek have finally reached Redemption. Michael Carrick, take an interim bow. Pete, Andy and Vish recap last night's Champions League action, as Chelsea's production line delivered some delicious goods and Andy caught Barcelona's *thrilling* 0-0 with Benfica at the Camp Nou. We also make fleeting stops in France (for crowd trouble) and the Polish sixth tier (for 53 goals a game). Dropping that knowledge bomb

Jimbo welcomes James Horncastle, Julien Laurens, Raphael Honigstein and Alvaro Romeo into the Euro pod after a hugely eventful week in the world of football. Lyon v Marseille is abandoned after yet more crowd trouble in France, with Dimitri Payet on the receiving end of a missile, not for the first time this season. In the Champions League, PSG travel to Manchester with speculation rife about Mauricio Pochettino. Could he actually be about to take the reins at Old Trafford here and now? Napol and Milan suffer their first defeats of the season as the Rossoneri’s attention turns to a great escape in the Champions League. The same goes for Xavi’s Barcelona as they take on Benfica. Covid 19 vaccination is very much in the news in Germany, with Bayern suspending salaries for players who end up in quarantine. And some peculiar goings on at Werder Bremen. Plus the panel discuss the Premier League’s new bumper TV deal in the USA. Could they kill the competition in Europe or will the smaller clubs continue to sell smart? 2021.11.22 - A Very Chilly Thierry Henry

Kris, Phil, and (for a while) Jez look back at an international break that saw France qualify for the World Cup, a red-card-heavy round of Ligue 1 games featuring yet another abandoned game, and some weird moves on and off the pitch in the women's game.

Playing against holograms

In an international week full of drama, Jimbo welcomes Julien Laurens, Matt Davies-Adams and Sasha Goryunov into the pod. Serbia strike late to win in Lisbon and secure their World Cup qualification and push Portugal into the play-offs. Pressure grows on Fernando Santos after underachieving with one of the most talented squads in the whole world. It’s all to play for for Italy as they head to Northern Ireland on Monday. England are almost there as we give Gareth credit for getting a tune out of players who aren’t performing for their clubs. Dean Smith is the new Norwich manager as Michael Bailey tells us whether this is a situation the hierarchy at Carrow Road lucked into. But don’t get your hopes up of seeing Zizou and his interpreter rock up at Old Trafford any time soon. Plus the investigation rocking PSG women, John Portsmouth Football Club Westwood and the longest away trip in world football. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: The PSG women debacle (01m 00s) • PART 2a: Portugal 1-2 Serbia (05m 30s) • PART 2b: Croatia 1-0 Russia (12m 00s) • PART 2c: England 5-0 Albania (17m 30s) • PART 2d: France 8-0 Kazakhstan (22m 00s) • PART 3: Norwich appoint Dean Smith, with The Athletic’s Michael Bailey (29m 00s) • PART 4: World Cup qualifier previews (45m 00s) • PART 5: The odds with Paddy Power (53m 00s) • PART 6: Women’s Football Weekend (55m 00s) SIGN UP TO THE ATHLETIC TODAY FOR 33% OFF THE PRICE OF AN ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION • theathletic.com/totally GET IN TOUCH: • follow us on Instagram • find us on Facebook • send us a tweet: @TheTotallyShow READ STUFF ON OUR WEBSITE: • check out thetotallyfootballshow.com.
