News linked to Anthony Gordon

On this week’s episode on The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet, we are joined by Newcastle United and England winger Anthony Gordon. Gary Neville meets Gordon along Whitley Bay beach. He starts with the first part of quick-fire questions, where the Liverpudlian opens up about the importance of psychology and meditation on his game. Gordon made a huge decision to move to Newcastle from Everton in January 2022 and talks about life at St James Park under Eddie Howe, his ambitions and the club's goals as he enjoys his most prolific spell in professional football to date. With the upcoming Euros and having made his senior England debut in March’s international friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, the 23-year-old will be looking to replicate last summer's achievements that saw him named player of the tournament as England lifted the under-21 European trophy. Lastly, Quick-Fire Questions resume where Gordon reveals his best goal, who he’d want to take a last-minute penalty to save his life and which former-teammate Gordon reminds Gary of in terms of self-confidence. On Clash of the Correspondents it's a meeting of the black and whites as James is joined by Fulham fan Dara Curran and Newcastle fan Simon Bibby to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Saturday's meeting at Craven Cottage. Both clubs have had troubles on the road this season as seen again this week with Fulham, who followed some brilliant victories by conceding six across two games at Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest. So they'll be pleased to be at home this weekend against a Newcastle side who have also struggled on the road. Does that mean a home win is likely with the Fulham frontline likely to be spearheaded again by the in-form Rodrigo Muniz against a Newcastle side that is again suffering through injuries defensively? There's discussion on the FPL relevant assets of interest including Muniz and other Fulham players that managers may own, plus the all important Newcastle assets who have a great run of fixtures that leads towards their double in the penultimate gameweek of 37. Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes and yes, the best choice of the defensive assets is covered too! It's more fun with flags with Alphonse Areola, Jamal Laascelles and Heung-Min Son all doubts for the weekend after last night's games that featured Suj's West Ham beating James' Tottenham in the Planet FPL derby. A week can be a long time in football and that certainly feels the case ahead of this Clash of the Correspondents as James is joined By Newcastle United fan Simon Bibby and Chelsea fan Gary Mantle to preview the GW13 meeting at St James's Park. 10 days ago Newcastle were beating Arsenal but defeats since to Dortmund in the Champions League and Bournemouth in the Premier League amidst a mounting injury list has caused some concern. At the same time Chelsea were looking ahead to a daunting run of fixtures while struggling for form, but have since taken 4 points and scored 8 goals across 2 games against Tottenham and Manchester City. The fortunes have changed for both, quickly, so can Chelsea can now take advantage at one of te toughest way grounds to win at? Or Newcastle maintain their strong home form? Plus, key FPL assets discussed including Kieran Trippier, Tino Livramento, Anthony Gordon, Reece James and Cole Palmer. And there's a big differential about to make their debut... On the first of three Clash of the Correspondents during this International break James is joined by Newcastle fan Simon Bibby and Crystal Palace fan Ruaidhri McLaughlin-Dowd to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of the GW9 meeting between the two at James' Park. Ten points from the last 4 in the league from the Toon Army which included five consecutive clean sheets across three competitions, there's been a 4-1 beating of PSG in the Champions League and an 8-0 away win at Sheffield United and it's meant FPL assets, particularly defensively are of interest. But it's Palace who current have the highest scoring goalkeeper in FPL (Sam Johnstone) and the highest scoring defender (Joachim Andersen!). And despite a growing and concerning injury list The Eagles find themselves only 1 point behind Newcastle in the table. Is Kieran Trippier worth the 2 million or so more than the other Newcastle defenders in FPL? And if not who is the best from the cheaper assets? Does Marc Guehi at 0.4 cheaper than teammate Andersen worth consideration now The Dane is approaching the 5.0 mark? Plus, can Callum Wilson or Alexander Isak be invested in despite injury and rotation concerns? How much should Fantasy managers be considering Anthony Gordon and can Palace find the way to goal with Michael Olise still unavailable and talisman Ebe Eze now sidelined? ...and does this have the potential to be last on Match of the Day.... again? Kelly Cates presents Super Sunday from St. James' Park alongside Jamie Carragher, Shay Given, and Andros Townsend, and they discussed and analysed the major talking points from Liverpool's dramatic 2-1 win against Newcastle which was delivered by two late goals from substitute Darwin Nunez. The visitors' victory was made even more impressive as they played the majority of the game with ten players after Virgil Van Dijk was dismissed shortly after Anthony Gordon gave the hosts the lead. Carragher labelled the victory as one of Jurgen Klopp’s best victories as a manager. Van Dijk’s red card wasn’t the only moment of controversy as Trent Alexander-Arnold was involved in two separate incidents early in the first half but avoided a second yellow card. Both Carra and Given agreed that the full-back should have been sent off. Carragher also said Liverpool can challenge Manchester City this season and be their biggest rivals again but they need to strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes on Friday. Speaking with Pat Davison after the match, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe felt the match could have been more comfortable had his players been more ruthless in front of goal, whilst Jurgen Klopp said that the result was even harder than their famous 4-0 home win over Barcelona in 2019, that saw them overturn a three-goal deficit on aggregate to reach the Champions League final. Kelly Cates presents the first Saturday Night Football of the 2023/24 season alongside Jamie Redknapp, Andros Townsend and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who witnessed Newcastle produce an impressive 5-1 victory against Aston Villa at a raucous St. James’ Park. Redknapp was particularly impressed by Sandro Tonali’s instant impact in Newcastle’s midfield and said "It was one of the most impressive debuts from a midfielder I've seen in this league”. Townsend singled out Anthony Gordon, who was also instrumental for the Magpies, and he feels the winger has got his confidence back after helping the England Under-21’s win the European Championship’s in the summer. The trio also discuss Harry Kane's transfer to Bayern Munich and whether it was the right move for the England striker. Alexandar Isak, who was another player to shine for the hosts with two goals, gives his post-match thoughts as well as both managers, Eddie Howe and Unai Emery. There have been a number of high-profile transfers this January, with the likes of Mykhailo Mudryk and Anthony Gordon moving...

Joe Devine, JJ Bull and Jon Mackenzie are here to talk about some football. Arsenal and Manchester City played each other for the first time in this most unusual of seasons. But what impact will City’s win in the FA Cup have on the minds of the boys in red and white? It probably has nothing to do with Arsenal’s pursuit of Moises Caicedo, and we also don’t make that link but it works for an episode description… Caicedo looks set to be yet another brilliant buy (and sale at some point) for Brighton and Hove Albion. We chat a little bit about why them Seagulls soar so high in the transfer market. We move on to discuss Everton. They have a new manager in Sean Dyche and some money in the bank from their sale of Anthony Gordon. But will all this help the Toffees come… unstuck? Artificial intelligence, potatoes and Aberdeen were also discussed. The Tifo football podcast is presented by Joe Devine and produced by Steve Hankey. *** • Get 20% Off and FREE shipping with the code EPL23 at manscaped.com Hosted on Acast. Dharms rounds up the other latest transfer news before Raphael discusses the future of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham and what the summer could hold for the England international (33:29). A season of struggle could await again... There's discussion on Frank Lampard, the board and why August is more important for Everton than any other Premier League club as they attempt to reshape the squad. Plus, Nathan Patterson appeals for FPL managers as a defensive enabler and there could now be strength in depth at the back with James Tarkowski a welcome addition to what may start as a back three, and Anthony Gordon could also appeal to FPL managers after a breakthrough 21/22 season, but he may not be the ony midfield asset to keep your eye on...
