Either way, we're back with our latest preview show setting up the 'Caps trip to Philadelphia on Saturday. Joe, Nick, and Gideon look ahead to what may lie in store during the match. Will the Whitecaps change a winning formula and line up? What kind of threat do the Union pose? Can Vancouver get their points per game above the playoff line? All this and more are covered, plus a special World Cup themed Do You Know Who I Am? and our prediction game in our latest episode. Have a listen! You can download and/or listen to this, and all previous, episodes of the podcast on the following services:

With the Whitecaps off on a bye week, the AFTN crew are gripped by World Cup fever this week, as we look at the current tournament in Russia and celebrate the future one coming to North America in 2026. We kick things off with big news of the week for Canadian fans and that is the successful bid to bring the 2026 World Cup to North American shores. Not Vancouver, but we can still rejoice right? Plus we talk World Cup memories and hopes, and look through some old Panini sticker albums, with Kendall Waston (Costa Rica), Efrain Juarez (Mexico), Aly Ghazal (Egypt), and Anibal Godoy and Harold Cummings (Panama). Plus we can't leave Scotland out, so their 1982 World Cup squad sing their hearts out in this week's Wavelength section. Vancouver Whitecaps head into their bye week (call it what it is) unbeaten in six and starting to find some attacking form. The defence is still looking a bit dodgy and they still struggle at times when they have a man advantage, but there's a lot more optimistic feel around the place than it was perhaps a month ago. We look back at the 'Caps five star win over Orlando on Saturday - the highs, the lows, and how some of the players are shaping up at this near midway point of the season. We also hear postgame comments from both coaches, Orlando's Jason Kreis and Vancouver's Carl Robinson. We have three interviews for you this week. First up, the 'Caps Kiwi keeper Stefan Marinovic talks about his injury, rehab, and when he expects to be back in the starting line-up. Then we catch up with Vancouver's latest homegrown signing, Simon Colyn, as we talk about his first professional contract, the Canadian championship, and more. We also have more Canadian Premier League chat for you this week as we look at the addition of teams in Winnipeg and Edmonton, and we chat with former Whitecap Marco Carducci about his hopes for the league and playing for his hometown club in Calgary. All this plus a review of what happened in the MLS Western conference this week, Wavelength, BC Soccerweb headlines, and more. Sunday's AFTN Soccer Show on CiTR radio was so packed, we've had to release it over two parts. This second episode of the three hour show focuses on the Canadian Premier League and the PDL. We kick things off with some PDL chat, looking at TSS Rovers great start to the season that's seen them go unbeaten in their last five matches to sit joint top of the standings. We chat with coach Will Cromack after a six point weekend that saw them lift their first piece of silverware. After that we turn our attention to the Canadian Premier League. It's been a good and a bad week for fans hoping to see teams here in BC. Victoria look set to be in for 2019, but that's the expense of the Fraser Valley bid. We look at what we know about both potential teams journey so far and what lies ahead for both clubs and also the Victoria Highlanders. But one team that definitely will be there for the start of the CPL in 2019 is Calgary's Cavalry FC. We chat about the ins and outs of the team, and hopes for the league, with current Foothills FC head coach, and soon to be Cavalry FC head coach and GM, Tommy Wheeldon Jr. All that plus Black Grape feature in this week's Wavelength section, and BC Soccerweb headlines looks at some stories from around the world of football. Here's the full episode rundown of the main segments from the show:02.20: Will Cromack interview and TSS Rovers chat12.16: Canadian Premier League in BC discussion31.35: Tommy Wheeldon Jr interview and Cavalry FC chat55.08: Wavelength - Black Grape - England's Irie61.34: BC Soccerweb headlines

Sunday's AFTN Soccer Show on CiTR radio was so packed, we're having to release it over two parts! Part one of the three hour show is today and focuses on MLS - present and future. We look back at Vancouver Whitecaps' 2-1 win over Colorado Rapids on Friday night, analysing the performance, which players stood out, and some of the other talking points coming out of the game. We also hear from both head coaches, the Rapids' Anthony Hudson and the Whitecaps' Carl Robinson. We take a look at how the action played out in the MLS Western Conference this week, and how it affected the Whitecaps, plus chat about the big league news of the week - the addition of FC Cincinnati in 2019. We round off the show with an in-depth chat with Cincy head coach, and friend of the show, Alan Koch about the expansion, his busy to do list, how he'll go about balancing building his squad with trying to win a USL championship for the rest of the year, and lots more. Part two of Sunday's show will be out as a podcast on Wednesday morning where we'll talk Canadian Premier League in BC and Alberta, the PDL, bring you interviews with Will Cromack and Tommy Wheeldon Jr, and more. Check back in two days for that. Here's the full episode rundown of the main segments from the show:03.40: Vancouver v New England match analysis16.29: Anthony Hudson and Carl Robinson audio21.30: Whitecaps chat - changing narratives, defensive play, midfield game management, player analysis44.20: MLS West Week in Review and NBC's manager rankings 54.26: Alan Koch interview and FC Cincinnati chat

Vancouver Whitecaps are only two more draws away from equaling the MLS record of six straight games sharing the points. Three more and they set a new record. Come on boys, you can do it. Let's go out there and make some history! There's every chance they'll inch closer to it on Friday when they travel to the Rocky Mountain state, not for chocolate covered cravings but to take on Colorado Rapids in MLS action. The Rapids are bad this year. If the Whitecaps can't beat them, do they deserve to even make it to the playoffs? Joe, Nick, and Gideon ponder that question, plus look at the dangers Colorado pose to the Vancouver defence, and the dangers Tim Howard poses to his own one. Who will win the golden ticket in this week's Whitecaps rotation lottery? Has Kei Kamara put his misses behind him or will we see him drop to the bench this week? And who steps up to fill Kendall Waston's huge shoes in the centre of the 'Caps defence? All this plus Do You Know Who I Am? and our prediction game in our latest episode. Have a listen!

Another week, another draw, another week, another match of individual errors, another week, another game of frustration. Welcome to Vancouver Whitecaps World 2018. Strap yourselves in, it's a bumpy ride. The 'Caps made it four draws in a row on Saturday at home to New England. Now they just need two more in the next two games to set a league record. Go team! We look back at the points dropped to the Revolution, where it all went wrong, where it all went right, and where do we go from here. Plus we hear from both head coaches, New England's Brad Friedel and Vancouver's Carl Robinson. AFTN writer Chris Corrigan joins us in the studio this week to talk about all that and a lot more. We also take a look at the latest news surrounding the Canadian Premier League and the latest rumours about teams here in BC. Plus how the weekend played out for the MLS western teams, TSS Rovers talk, and Pete Green makes his debut in our Wavelength section with a Grimsby Town related tune. With his teacup spinning days sadly in the past, Gideon returns to the fold this week to rejoin up with Joe and Nick to look ahead to Vancouver Whitecaps' Saturday afternoon encounter with New England Revolution. They don't want to change the world, they're just looking at New England, but they have been buoyed by the 'Caps late dramatic draw in Dallas. Will it be four draws on the bounce or can the Whitecaps finally snap out of their disappointing home form and get back to winning ways? Who poses the danger for New England? Will Teal Bunbury's resurgence continue in the country he turned his back on? And how will the 'Caps line up for this one, another 4-4-2? These are just a few of the many questions they ponder. All this plus Do You Know Who I Am? and our prediction game in our latest episode. Have a listen!

It's a long weekend, so we have an extra long episode of the AFTN Soccer Show for you as we took over the airwaves at CiTR radio for two and a half hours on Sunday night. Vancouver Whitecaps showed a never say die spirit in Dallas on Saturday afternoon (or should that be Dai with a Welshman in charge?), fighting back from 2-0 down to score a couple of very late goals to earn the unlikeliest of points. We look back over the dramatic afternoon and chat about the main talking points coming out of it. Plus we hear from both head coaches, Dallas' Oscar Pareja and Vancouver's Carl Robinson. We've got two feature interviews for you this episode. First up is Whitecaps' Canadian defender Marcel de Jong, as he joins us to chat about the stability of signing a new contract extension. Then former Whitecap Kekuta Manneh joins us to chat about his move to Mexico, Columbus Crew falling short in their quest for last year's MLS Cup, and what it means to his hometown of Austin to possibly be getting a new MLS team. We also take a look at the latest news surrounding the Canadian Premier League, in what's been a big week for them. Plus how the weekend played out for the MLS western teams, Whitecaps midfielder Jordon Mutch talks television, and The Others make their debut in our Wavelength section. Here's the full episode rundown of the main segments from the show:02.49: Dallas v Vancouver match analysis17.33: Oscar Pareja and Carl Robinson audio26.15: Whitecaps chat - player analysis, talking points surrounding the team, news of the week48.17: Marcel De Jong interview and discussion56.38: Canadian Premier League news of the week - Cavalry FC, Victoria rumours, what's happening in Port City, league details revealed84.44: Wavelength - The Others - Stan Bowles89.37: MLS West Week in Review 103.10: Kekuta Manneh interview and discussion113.58: TSS Rovers and Canadian development chat120.10: TV OD - Jordon Mutch125.37: BC Soccerweb headlines

With Gideon still absent after an unfortunate incident with Daisy Duck, Joe and Nick man the barricades in a way that the Whitecaps defence can only look on at with jealousy. It's the guys first Review/Preview show of the season and for once they don't just get to look ahead all joyfully at the weekend's action to come. Now they have to suffer the pain of the Sunday crew and pick over a disappointing display by the 'Caps. Vancouver's 2-2 draw with San Jose Earthquakes is in the spotlight. What went wrong this time, as another two points were dropped at home? More chances wasted, more sloppy defending, more disgruntlement amongst the fanbase. It's not the happiest time in Whitecapsland and the guys try to address as much of that as they can. Plus we hear postgame comments from both head coaches, San Jose's Mikael Stahre and Vancouver's Carl Robinson. Can the 'Caps turn things around in a timely manner? Well we won't have to wait too long to find out, with the team heading into the intense afternoon Texan heat to face an in-form, and frankly terrifying prospect, at FC Dallas. Is this a throwaway game? Should the 'Caps just go for a near full rotation and go young? We've seen understrength teams battle for unexpected points this year, or does that only happen against the 'Caps. If we're quaking in our boots at the prospect of this one, after recent results, is there actually any team in MLS right now that we can look forward to facing? All this and more awaits your earholes in our latest episode. Have a listen!

Vancouver Whitecaps v Houston Dynamo analysis; Vancouver Whitecaps v San Jose Earthquakes preview; Whitecaps salaries; TSS Rovers chat with Colin Elmes and Nick Soolsma interviews.

Finally, we have back to back home games! But be careful what you wish for because that means watching Vancouver Whitecaps live twice in the space of six days. Are you ready for that? We'll try and help you get ready for the first match on Friday, as we take a look at all things Houston Dynamo in AFTN's latest preview podcast. They're a team that don't travel well, but are coming off a late 3-2 win over LA Galaxy. Are they hitting form at just the worst time for the 'Caps? Can a shaky Vancouver defence handle the likes of Elis and Quioto? What changes will Carl Robinson make this week? And will anyone be on the end of all those crosses this game? Gideon is away dressing up as a Disney Princess for this episode, raising the average age of the team to not quite DC United levels, but getting up there. So that leaves Joe and Nick to chat about all of the above and much more, including World Cup jerseys, answering a barrage of listeners questions, and playing our prediction game. Have a listen!

Remember when Vancouver Whitecaps were being lauded for their excellent road record? That seems so long ago now. Saturday's 1-0 loss in Minnesota was the third straight away defeat for the 'Caps. This one against an already undermanned team that played 40 minutes of the second half with ten men. Definitely a Cinco de Mayo to forget. We look back at the high and lows from the match, talk line-ups and formations, bring you our latest player rankings, and hear from both head coaches, Minnesota's Adrian Heath and Vancouver's Carl Robinson. Where now for the Whitecaps? Did the RSL win last week just paper over the cracks or should we just be content that the team is currently sitting in third spot? We also see how the weekend played out for the MLS western teams, discuss the latest big Canadian Premier League news and other headlines, play another round of Do You Know Who I Am? and Half Man Half Biscuit return for our Wavelength section. The questions everyone wanted answered after last week's hammering in Kansas City was how would Vancouver Whitecaps' players react and what kind of mood would the fans be in. After a week building up to it, we got some answers at BC Place on Friday night. The Whitecaps got the job done against Real Salt Lake and came away with all three points, but it wasn't a performance for the ages against a pretty poor looking visiting side. Still, three points are three points and it ended the 'Caps three game losing streak. Steve, Zach, and Chris pick over the bones of it all. Is it a turning point or was it just papering over the cracks? We also hear from both head coaches, discuss the dissenting voices amongst the media and fanbase leading up to the match, see how the weekend played out for the MLS western teams, discuss the latest big Canadian Premier League news, and Culture Vulture has a song about Roy of the Rovers in our Wavelength section. Here's the full episode rundown of the main segments from the show:02.20: Whitecaps v RSL match analysis30.48: Mike Petke and Carl Robinson audio36.45: Fines Lines - Dissenting voices against Robbo and the FO in the fanbase and media51.17: Whitecaps v RSL player analysis72.46: Latest Canadian Premier League news79.30: MLS West Week in Review90.12: Wavelength - Culture Vulture - Roy Of The Rovers Rap94.57: BC Soccerweb headlines

Friday's match against Real Salt Lake isn't so much a must win for Vancouver Whitecaps, as a must not lose. A defeat would certainly pile pressure on beleaguered coach Carl Robinson, but it's not likely going to be the tipping point. This is very much an avoid defeat at all costs encounter, as the 'Caps try to put an end to their three game losing streak. Joe, Gideon, and Nick are back to look ahead to Friday's match at BC Place. Were lessons learned from the 2-1 loss in Utah just three weeks ago? RSL are winless on the road, what kind of team and threat can we expect from them here in Vancouver? With the importance of this match, and with some players missing through suspension and injury for the 'Caps, does Carl Robinson blow up the team and try something different, or does he have to persevere with his regular base and hope they can turn things around? We look at all that, plus a lot more, and bring you another "Do You Know Who I Am?" and our prediction game. Have a listen!

If last week was a bad weekend for Vancouver Whitecaps, this one was far worse. Not only did they lose 6-0 in Kansas City, seven of their Western rivals picked up three points and they fell out of the promotion places when you look at points per game. Clearly not the response sought or expected after the failings in the last two matches. We pick over carcass of that loss in KC and there's a lot to ponder. Where did it all go wrong and where does the team go from here? Team selection, tactics, poor discipline, horrible defending, and Robbo's postgame comments. We talk about all those things and a lot more. Plus we have a chat with LAFC assistant coach Marc Dos Santos, see how the weekend played out for the MLS western teams, find out if the Cap killer Johnny Russell fancies a chocolate digestive, play Do You Know Who I Am? and Half Man Half Biscuit are back in our Wavelength section.

Vancouver Whitecaps are back on the road again, so at least there's perhaps some hope of getting something out of this week's match! After two straight defeats can Carl Robinson find a band of sunshine for his squad in KC? Joe, Gideon, and Nick are back with AFTN's latest preview podcast. They'll look at the threat posed by Sporting Kansas City, what changes the Whitecaps might be looking to make, and how they see the game playing out. With Kei Kamara out for three weeks, how will Anthony Blondell fare up front? Can this help unleash the Yordy Reyna we knew and loved last season? And just what midfielders will we see this week? We discuss all this and a lot more. We have a special guest this week as Michael sits down for a chat with Sporting KC forward, and fellow Scot, Johnny Russell (at 09.15 mark) to talk about his move to MLS, settling in at KC, his growth as a player from his early days in Scottish football, this weekend's match, and more. Plus another "Do You Know Who I Am?" and our prediction game. Have a listen!

Sick of teams from LA yet? I know we are. LAFC came to BC Place on Friday night and fairly easily picked apart an uninspiring and disappointing Kamaraless Vancouver Whitecaps. We do some picking ourselves, as we pick over the bones of the 2-0 loss, ponder where it all went wrong, how it can be improved, can we cope without Kei, where's the creativity, and where do some players fit into this team. Plus we sit down for a chat with Russell Teibert and talk with Jordan Harvey about his homecoming. We'll also look at the weekend's action amongst the MLS Western Conference teams and Flyscreen feature in this week's Wavelength section with a song about Panini stickers and Willie Johnston. It's Jordan Harvey night at BC Place on Friday! The former Whitecap returns to the place he has tattooed on himself but it will be many happy returns or a homecoming to forget? The Whitecaps are coming home themselves after a mixed couple of games on the road, hoping it won't be a case of Friday night frights under the Friday night lights. Joe, Gideon, and Nick are back with AFTN's latest preview podcast. They'll look at the threat posed by LAFC, what changes the Whitecaps might be looking to make, and how they see the game playing out. What will have the biggest impact - LA's potent attack or their goal shipping defence? And how might VAR screw the 'Caps over this week? Plus another "Do You Know Who I Am?" and our prediction game. Have a listen!

Death, taxes, the Whitecaps getting screwed by VAR, and being unable to break down a poor team. That's what feels inevitable in life right now. The 'Caps headed to RSL and it wasn't so much a case of the result being taken with a pinch of salt, but the Salty ones pinching a result. We pick over the bones of a poor outing in Utah, have a look at what went wrong in the 2-1 loss, and look at the individual performances of some of the 'Caps players and Robbo. We'll also look at the weekend's action amongst the MLS Western Conference teams, bring you a Flash Five about footballing brothers, talk Fish and Chips with Gordon Forrest, chat Panini stickers, introduce our new Swap Shop segment, and Halftime Oranges feature in this week's Wavelength section. What's the difference between snowmen and snowwomen? Snowballs. What's the difference between Vancouver Whitecaps April trip to play Real Salt Lake and last years? Snowballs. What a difference a year makes. When the 'Caps headed to Sandy, Utah around this time last season, the pitch was unplayable, covered in snow, and players were throwing snowballs at each other. This time around it's going to be rainy and in the mid teens temperature wise. The 'Caps will also be hoping for a different result and in the road form that they're in, you have to fancy them to get it. Joe, Gideon, and Nick are back with AFTN's latest preview podcast. They'll look at the threat posed by Real Salt Lake, what changes the Whitecaps might be looking to make, and how they see the game playing out. Plus another "Do You Know Who I Am?" and our prediction game. Have a listen!

If the Crew do end up leaving Columbus this offseason, it's likely Vancouver Whitecaps will be the saddest team to see them go. Saturday's win for the 'Caps made it four straight victory in Columbus. We clearly enjoy being there, even if the Crew owners don't. We look back at all the main talking points from the Whitecaps come from behind win, hear from head coaches Gregg Berhalter and Carl Robinson, and look at what players excelled and which ones didn't. We'll also look at the weekend's action the MLS Western Conference, a very good couple of days for the Whitecaps for sure, plus we'll take a look at the first month of the 'Caps affiliation with USL side Fresno FC, chat Canadian Premier League and player development, and we find out if Jordon Mutch fancies a chocolate digestive. Let's just forget last week's game against LA Galaxy. We'll put it down to the Vancouver Whitecaps disease of struggling against weakened teams. They always seems to do better against the better ones, so at least that gives some home ahead of a trip to the Eastern Conference leading Columbus Crew.Joe Deasy, Gideon Hill, and Nicolaas Rupprecht preview the match, looking at what we can expect from a fired up Crew side. What will the Whitecaps look like? Can they break down a team that doesn't have 10 men behind the ball? Will there actually be some decent delivery this week? All this and a lot more are discussed in this week's preview episode. We're also joined by Whitecaps midfielder Jordon Mutch to talk about settling in to Vancouver, what he's made of MLS so far, and what he expects this weekend. All this, plus "Do You Know Who I Am?" and our prediction game. Have a listen!

It's good to have constants in your life, right? When a weakened team comes to B.C. Place, Vancouver Whitecaps fail to rise to the occasion seems to be one of those, and it was the same again on Saturday night when a highly depleted LA Galaxy side came and left with a point in a 0-0 draw. We pick over the bones of that game and individual performances, and hear from Galaxy head coach Sigi Schmid and 'Caps coach Carl Robinson. Plus we look back at the Whitecaps report card on the squad four games in. Turning our attention to the 'Caps defence, we discuss the overturning of Kendall Waston's red card, sit down for a chat with Uruguayan centre back Jose Aja about his move to Vancouver and how he's settling in, and we find out if Aaron Maund fancies a chocolate digestive. All this plus we chat with Canada national team and LAFC midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye, look at the week's action in MLS West, discuss MLS derbies, look at some of the stories making the news around the world, and Half Man Half Biscuit are back in this week's Wavelength section. Vancouver Whitecaps' record against LA Galaxy hasn't been too shabby these past couple of seasons. Gone is the MLS Cup Galaxy team to be feared, and it feels like last season, their worst in their history, was a rebuilding one that went horribly wrong from the outset. Is Sigi Schmid going to turn them around this season? They've a win and a loss under their belts so far and head to BC Place on Saturday night to take on a Whitecaps side looking to secure their best ever start to a MLS season.Joe Deasy, Gideon Hill, and Nicolaas Rupprecht preview the match, looking at what we can expect from the Galaxy, what will the Whitecaps look like, can they bounce back from the loss in Atlanta pretty quickly, and a lot more. We're also joined by Corner of the Galaxy co-host and producer Josh Guesman to talk about all things LA Galaxy from last season's disappointments, to this season's expectations, and what it's like to have a real LA rival in the city as the teams get set to meet next week (at 14.56 mark). All this, plus "Do You Know Who I Am?", our prediction game, and a look over the results of the latest anonymous ESPN poll of MLS players. Have a listen!

It's not been a great week to be a football fan in Vancouver. First it was announced that the city won't be hosting any matches if the bid for the 2026 World Cup is successful, then the Whitecaps were Elfathed in Houston, going down a man and to a 4-1 defeat. We're joined in the studio by Joe Deasy and Gideon Hill to chat about both of those topics, but there's some good news too as we reveal the first 18 names on the 2018 TSS Rovers PDL roster with head coaches Colin Elmes and Will Cromack. All this and a lot more in a two hour plus episode. Have a listen! Vancouver Whitecaps' perfect season is still on! Two games. Two wins. Can it get any better?! They're going to have a tough time maintaining that 100% start this week though, with big spending Atlanta United their next foes.Joe Deasy, Gideon Hill, and Nicolaas Rupprecht preview the 'Caps match in Atlanta this weekend. There likely will be changes to the starting XI, some enforced, some not. Who goes in? How should the 'Caps line up to counter Atlanta's three at the back and five in midfield? And should the home side be feared for their attacking strength or are they ripe for the picking at the back with the Whitecaps style of play? We look at all this and more in today's show, as we find out who Joe thinks looks sexy in a Whitecaps shirt and which player caused Gideon to lose sleep as he lay thinking about him in bed. Plus "Do You Know Who I Am?" and our prediction game are back, and we even talk a bit of Football Manager. Have a listen!

Two games. Two wins. It's been a great start for Vancouver Whitecaps this new MLS season. The latest victory came in Houston on Saturday night. The Whitecaps recorded their first ever win at the Dynamo and we look back at the highs and lows from a night that saw a typical Vancouver road performance and three more points. Who stood out? Whose place is up for grabs? What can we expect heading in Atlanta next week? We look at all these things and more, plus we hear from both head coaches, Houston's Wilmer Cabrera and Vancouver's Carl Robinson. Welcome to the first of a new regular preview podcast we'll be recording for your aural delight this season, as we look forward to First Kick on Sunday as Vancouver Whitecaps host Montreal Impact at B.C. Place. Now one of the reasons we have such a big team here at AFTN is that we like to have a variety of voices and opinions covering the 'Caps and MLS. It keeps the site fresh and vibrant, and we decided to add a second weekly podcast to the mix hosted by three of our team - Joe Deasy, Gideon Hill, and Nicolaas Rupprecht. Look at it as the NWO Hollywood and Wolfpack from the old World Championship Wrestling days, or the Bullet Club currently in Ring of Honor and New Japan. Anyway, I digress. It's their show, with their ideas and segments, and will act as a great companion pod for our Sunday show on CiTR Radio. This first episode takes a look back at what we can possibly learn from the 'Caps preseason, what the team may look like on Sunday, and casts it's eye over Montreal. What they will bring and should they be feared? There's fun, there's games, and a special guest too as Michael sits down for a chat with the newest Whitecap, midfielder Jordon Mutch. There's a little bit of a tinny sound to this episode due to the need to have to clean out some background hum, but hopefully it doesn't spoil your enjoyment too much. Have a listen! And do the 'Caps have a realistic chance of doing the business once again on the road when no-one expects it?
