Alan Curbishley has managed over 700 games at Premier League and Championship level, making him still, after eight years out of the game, one of the top ten most experienced managers in top flight football. Here in this exclusive and revealing interview with Football Ramble Daily, he talks us through his career from the highs of achieving promotion to the Premier League in dramatic fashion with Charlton Athletic to the lows of his contentious exit from West Ham while still at the peak of his powers, as well as how close he came to the England job in 2006, and why Thierry Henry still brings him out in a nervous sweat. We’re back to take a deep dive into the biggest stories from another hectic weekend of football. We begin with a thorough look at Frank Lampard’s Chelsea after a promising but inconsistent draw with Leicester— will we see a return to the unease that plagued much of last season? Then we take a look at some of the players who have come up from the Championship as they look to adapt to the demands of the Premier League. Teemu Pukki has taken the bull by the horns after his hat-trick against Newcastle, while Southampton’s new star Che Adams hasn’t enjoyed as successful a start. We also look at Sol Campbell’s recent exit from Macclesfield after he excelled last season despite the constraints of ‘the worst job in the football league.’ Tell us your thoughts! We knew it wouldn't last. Vancouver Whitecaps unbeaten run is over! It was only two games, but boy, what a couple of matches! They've only been and gone and done it. Vancouver Whitecaps won a match! Okay, so it wasn't pretty and it was against a shambles of a team, but a win is a win is a win and right now any small victories they can get should be grabbed with both hands. We look at the main talking points coming out of the victory over FC Cincinnati and the big news in Whitecapsland and throughout MLS this week. From transfers to games to suspensions and failed drug tests, there's been a lot to chat about. Keeping with Canadian club football, we chat with Cavalry FC head coach Tommy Wheeldon about their league season so far, what's made them the class of the CPL, and the need to keep it going to the championship game. Plus we look at what the future of club football in BC may look like. Welcome aboard to a brand new football season and the very first day of Football Ramble Daily! It’s an absolute pleasure to have you with us and we’re looking forward to bringing you a whole host of shows six days a week throughout the season. Monday means the Ramble’s up, and today we’re talking the Community Shield as Pep and his cargo trousers got one over Klopp’s Klan. Phil Foden got his customary two minutes and some fans got in a punch up long enough for Pete to critique their fashion choices—because of course he did. Elsewhere, we run through some cracking goals to kick off the Championship season as Luton Town and Middlesborough played out a six-goal thriller. There’s even time for some transfer chat, as Moise Kean jets off to Merseyside and Newcastle’s new boy Allan Saint-Maximin has already been forced into buying his headbands from Sports Direct. Make sure to join Jules Breach and Andy Brassell for their new show tomorrow, right here on Football Ramble Daily! We also look ahead to the Cavalry FC game in the Canadian Championship on Wednesday and hear from MDS on his thoughts after the first leg. AFTN's Calgary correspondent Scott Strasser joins us to chat about the Cavs season and what he expects from them in this second leg. The AFTN Soccer Show is back for another helping, but it would have been nice to come back with some more upbeat news to talk about. In the latest episode Steve, Zach, and Gideon chat about Vancouver Whitecaps’ dismantling by LAFC and the other news from Whitecapsland in the past week, plus they look ahead, with a mixture of excitement and trepidation at the midweek trip to CPL standouts Cavalry FC in the Canadian Championship. It’s a banana skin waiting to happen and we catch up with the man that hopes to keep the ‘Caps at bay, former Whitecap Marco Carducci. All this plus lots of Canadian men’s and women’s national team, MLS, and Gold Cup chat. Plus Wavelength returns with a song from 1998.

In this, the latest episode of Ramble Meets, Luke talks to ex-Sunderland and England player Micky Gray. Spotted by a Manchester United scout at age 13, Micky ended up playing in the Red Devils' academy with the likes of Ryan Giggs, Adrian Doherty, Paul Scholes and David Beckham before signing back with his hometown club Sunderland. Across a career spanning 18 years, from the low of missing the decisive penalty in the 1998 Championship Playoff Final to the high of representing his country, Micky takes us through a hugely interesting time playing football at the top level, including run ins with managers, fans, and future England captain Wayne Rooney. ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. Laura Woods is currently in demand as a live football presenter on both TV for Sky Sports and radio for talkSPORT. She is instantly recognisable for her work on Super Sunday, The Debate and the PDC World Darts Championship. Here, in this exclusive interview, she tells Luke about her path into broadcasting from making her own 'radio shows' on her stereo at home as a kid to co-hosting national shows on talkSPORT, how she deals with criticism from both colleagues and internet trolls, and what it's like to work in an industry that is still very much a man's world. ***Please take the time to rate and review us on Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your pods. A strange weekend of football as Liverpool keep it up but Spurs, Arsenal and Man United all implode to various degrees, in what will surely become known as The Season Where Nobody Seemed That Bothered About Finishing Third or Fourth. The Premier League also says goodbye to Neil Warnock and his fancy new stance, various play-offs take shape and we speculate on the behind-closed-doors character of Delia Smith. The FA Cup quarter finals are over and they were full of late goals, VAR controversy and sort-of-but-not-quite cupsets, the Championship had an outfield player in goal, and in the Premier League Javier Hernandez’s impressive under-the-radar goal return justified the West Ham spend that everyone’s jealous of. As well as all this, Wes Morgan wins Brendan Rodgers’ Epitomising the Humble Attitude of the Group Award, Paul Scholes has enough and we learn of a delightfully specialist app, link below. Yet more drama at Stamford Bridge, Mike Dean and non-Mike Dean related, the Jurassic Park theme at the Cardiff City Stadium, Jordan Pickford getting the save on and Paul Ince forgetting himself. On top of the this the ball-on-a-plinth phenomena reaches new heights, we revel in the names of fanzines up and down the land and the rumours that a certain ex-manager is heading into the jungle...
