Expected Own Goals: The NWSL is BACK, BABY! Breaking Down the Loony Nine-Goal Chaos Show at Kansas City

The greatest league in the world has returned, and boy was it a doozy! From first-minute penalties in Seattle, to the Naeher-aissance denying Utah their first-ever win in front of a "sold out" crowd, to 17-year-old Kennedy Fuller making as many headlines as Bay FC goalscorer Asisat Oshoala, there were narratives galore. But Eric, Evan, and Arianna can only focus on one thing: the Kansas City Current and Portland Thorns opening CPKC Stadium with nine goals, tying the NWSL single-game record. Did Mike Norris make a wise decision rolling out an entirely new backline? Did Vlatko Andonovski properly adjust to Janine Beckie's arrival in the second half? What on earth was Christine Sinclair doing starting the game at right wing? They get into all of it and more. Art by Eli Elbogen Music byDevin Drobka's Bell Dance Songs Hosted on Acast. Ramble Reacts: Chelsea win and Poch goes for dinner

Chelsea delivered a huge blow to Newcastle’s ambitions for the rest of the season – and a huge blow to Andy Brassell’s hopes of watching them play the runners-up from the Slovenian top-flight next season in the Europa Conference League. And that’s all coming from what could have been the real True Geordie, Pete Donaldson. Andy joins Pete to react to Chelsea’s 3-2 win over an increasingly beleaguered Newcastle, who Pete describes with probably the most unflattering simile in the history of football analysis. The lads discuss a chaotic game where Cole Palmer dazzled again, Mykhailo Mudryk thankfully didn’t offer out another fan again, and Mauricio Pochettino didn’t cancel dinner with his wife again. Plus, an unexpected appearance from Adam Sandler… Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, and email us here: [email protected]. Cole Turkey | Planet FPL S. 7 Ep. 28 | GW20 Review | Fantasy Premier League

On the Gameweek 20 Review Suj and James discuss all the drama from the games so far and it began with Cole Palmer hauling and ended with Mo Salah hauling after missing a 1st half penalty. Elsewhere there was disappointment for Manchester United and Arsenal in defeats at Nottingham Forest and Fulham, Tottenham were 'lucky' again and Wolves dominated Everton. On the agenda for many FPL managers will now be finding replacements for departing AFCON and Asia Cup players including Mo Salah and Heung-Min Son and the Podcast has a theme of midfield replacements under consideration throughout, but also a warning of why the final decision shouldn't need to be made just yet. Do You Phil Safe? | Planet FPL S. 7 Ep. 27 | GW19 Review | Fantasy Premier League

It's green arrows for Suj and James on the Gameweek 19 Review but very different fortunes for their teams on a dramatic Thursday night as Brighton scored four against Tottenham at The Amex and West Ham caused a shock by winning 2-0 at Arsenal. And they weren't the only surprises this week as Chris Wood scored a stunning hat-trick in Nottingham Forest's victory at Newcastle, while Wolves were another team to score big as they scored four at Brentford and there were some surprising bonus points for offensive FPL defenders. All the games covered, including Manchester United's comeback victory against Aston Villa and Manchester City looked back to their best at Everton with Phil Foden the star of the show. And there's lots to debate ahead of tomorrow's GW20 FPL Deadline, with several great options for captaincy and some extreme benching headaches for some may lead to an activation of a number of Bench Boost chips. But there are warnings of more potential weekend rotation and notes that although GW20 may look great on paper for many FPL managers GW21 needs to be kept in mind, particularly with so many players leaving for AFCON and the Asia Cup. West Ham v Brighton | CotC with Chris Stone & Sam Murray | Planet FPL 2023/24

On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by West Ham fan Chris Stone and Brighton fan Sam Murray to discuss all the latest at their clubs ahead of their GW20 meeting in East London and both clubs are still to play tonight in GW19. Jarrod Bowen is currently FPL's 5th highest scoring player but will the departure of Mohammed Kudus to AFCON mean Bowen moves back to the right? Should they be a concern for owners or those intending to invest? Or is he likely to be a popular captaincy choice in GW21 at Sheffield United? Brighton just wish they had players who could play wide, with Kaoru Mitoma and Simon Adingra added to a lengthy injury list. Could 4.7 midfielder Facundo Buonanotte step up or is the multi talented Pascal Gross a better investment? Could Jooa Pedro now see increased minutes in a wider role? Both teams have attractive long-term fixtures and don't play again in the Europa League until March. Enablers such as Alphonse Areola and Jan Paul Van Hecke are also covered, but both have struggled for clean sheets; could that be about to change? And for Brighton, the popular Pervis Estupinan is back... Sick And Dom | Planet FPL S. 7 Ep. 26 | GW18 Review | Fantasy Premier League

On the Gameweek 18 Review Podcast Suj and James discuss more fun with flags as several FPL managers see their teams decimated by injuries and suspensions and for many those problems are defensively, and with cash spare in many a FPL managers bank balance Trent Alexander-Arnold is now a priority for many. But it won't be for everyone... Meanwhile Dominic Solanke netted a hat-trick at Forest, managed for the first time by Nuno Espirito Santo, Liverpool and Arsenal shared the points in the top of the table and the bottom 3, written off by many, all had great results including Sheffield United, who denied Aston Villa a place at the top of the table on Friday night. While Suj and James go into Christmas celebrating home victories for their clubs; a limp Manchester United were comfortably dispatched by West Ham, for Tottenham it was a far more difficult assignment against a revitalised Everton. Champions League draw reaction, as Spanish managers continue to thrive

For the last time in 2023, Jimbo, James Horncastle, Julien Laurens, Raphael Honigstein and Alvaro Romeo discuss all the continental happenings in the world of football. The draw for the last 16 of the Champions League throws up some intriguing encounters - Simeone back at Inter, Bosz back at Dortmund, Kane versus Immobile. Harry continues to score but Bayer Leverkusen continue to win. Could AFCON be the thing that scuppers their incredible season? Speaking of incredible seasons, Girona stay top of La Liga, Bellingham scores again and Sevilla make yet another managerial change. PSG slip up late at Lille with Kylian Mbappe seemingly starting to get unhappy with how things are going. But Bologna fans are definitely happy with life as they move into the top 4. Tottenham v Everton | CotC with Ricky Saunders & Sean Norton | Planet FPL 2023/24

On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders and Everton fan Sean Norton to discuss the latest at their clubs, including each's starving for a trophy and preview Saturday's GW18 meeting at White Hart Lane. Despite the absence of several key players, some of it self inflicted by suspensions, and a spell that saw them pick up 1 point from 5, Tottenham are 6 points off top and have 6 of the next 10 at home. The couldn't... could they...? 4 wins and 4 clean sheets on the bounce for Everton have taken them 7 points clear of the drop zone and without the ten point deduction Everton would actually be ninth. They now want their points back so they can challenge for Europe! There's lots of Fantasy discussion, including Son's positioning on the left and whether he should be captained this week by FPL managers. Pedro Porro is proving popular and so now is Richarlison after 3 goals in 2, but would Dejan Kulusevski or Brennan Johnson be a better bet? Plus, Everton defensive assets will now attract interest, and do the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dwight McNeill offer a differential route to points. Spill The Coffee Beans | Planet FPL S. 7 Ep. 25 | GW17 Review | Fantasy Premier League

On The Gameweek Review Podcast, reflections on James' Wildcard and it's been some time... but Suj missed the Deadline and he's now stuck with 3 Manchester City assets heading into GW18. All the games reviewed, there were some daft red cards, Villa and Tottenham assets are likely to be particularly popular heading into GW18 and there's an assessment of the Tottenham midfield assets and the likely Villa line-up. Manchester United thwarted an under par Liverpool, Newcastle got back to winning ways and Everton made it 4 wins on the spin without conceding and there's discussion on the team who changed tactics and may have regretted it. And final points for the Gameweek aren't confirmed as yet following the collapse of Tom Lockyer - who thankfully appears to be in a stable condition - and the suspension of Bournemouth's game with Luton. What’s happening with Man City? And why aren’t Liverpool’s frontline clicking?

Jimbo welcomes Daniel Storey, Adrian Clarke and Matt Davies-Adams onto the pod after an eventful Premier League weekend. Luton’s Tom Lockyer collapses during their game with Bournemouth due to a cardiac arrest but thankfully is stable in hospital. Liverpool don’t score 7 against Man United this time, failing to find the back of the net at all against Erik ten Hag’s resolute side. A match that highlights how Liverpool are struggling in open play. Sunday’s football also sees Arsenal batter Brighton to go top, with Declan Rice a joke, West Ham thrash Wolves, with Mohammed Kudus a steal, and Aston Villa come out on top in their brawl at Brentford. Man City throw away a two-goal lead to Crystal Palace as their post-treble fatigue continues. Plus chants, why are 0-0s so rare this season and the weirdest red card ever. Produced by Charlie Jones. The Wild Vice Card | Planet FPL S. 7 Ep. 24 | GW16 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Another dramatic weekend of football for FPL managers, which included an injured Erling Haaland missing out for Manchester City and bug returns for Mo Salah and Heung-Min Son. While for James, multiple problems on top of the Haaland news prompted James to pull the trigger on Wildcard on Saturday night 2 weeks earlier than planned. While for Suj, despite having the vice captaincy on Mo Salah, he still scored less than a Salah-less James. But at least he didn't say Fulham wouldn't score 5 goals against West Ham last Friday... ...oh yes he did! All the games reviewed as Villa extended their incredible winning run, Tottenham finally turned a good performance into a good resullt against a walking wounded Newcastle, Bournemouth won comfortably at Old Trafford and Chelsea were humbled at an Everton who are 3 from 3 and no goals conceded. The Podcast also has a theme of options under consideration for James' Wildcard and Planet FPL won a trophy this weekend! Man Utd v Bournemouth | CotC with Gary Robinson & Neil Grover | Planet FPL 2023/24

James is joined by Manchester United fan Gary Robinson and Bournemouth fan Neil Grover on Clash of the Correspondents to discuss contrasting fortunes at their clubs ahead of their midweek fixtures tonight and the GW16 meeting at Old Trafford on Saturday United were - though it didn't feel like it - the form team in the Premier League with 5 wins from 6, but following Saturday's woeful display at Newcastle it feels like United in crisis again with several questioning whether the players want to play for Erik Ten Hag. Is the situation recoverable for the manager? And it feels like we've seen it all before... so are the players the problem? While at Bournemouth, everything is beginning to look brighter for Andoni Iraola after three promising displays that have yielded 7 points and suddenly they are looking upwards from a position that had seen them pick up only 3 points from their first 9 games. There's discussion on FPL assets and remarkably it is Bournemouth players who may appeal more with some attractive fixtures across GWs 17-19 and there are 5 players who Fantasy managers may want to consider to solve potential problems. Plus, why are Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford currently of minimal interest and do defensive United assets that are owned need binning following Saturday's game... in which Bournemouth will feel they can get something. World's Top 10 goalscorers in 2023: Harry Kane above Mbappe

Giants from ManCity, Al-Nassr, Paris-SG and FC Bayern Munich all form their way into the top 10 goalscorers list across world football for the timetable time of 2023. With only a limited months to go until the ending of the year, effects are as tight as at all around the goalscoring list and a limited familiar make an presence in this list. We ’ve cast up every single thing that has been scored across world football in 2023, club and international scores included and have collected a list of the top 10 scores. = 8. Mauro Icardi – 35 goals The revitalization of Icardi in Turkish football has been a joy to see. Following some rough times with PSG, the Argentine forward has looked sharper than ever since making his move to Galatasaray. Unlike utmost of the other forwards on this list, all 35 of Icardi’s goals in 2023 have been at club position as he does n’t get important of a look in at the Argentine national side these days. Anyhow of that, he seems to be loving life in Turkey right now. = 8. Lautaro Martinez – 35 goals A fellow Argentine is coming up as Inter Milan’s Martinez has also smashed in 35 goals during the calendar time so far. The 26- year-old has been in fine form this time and he nowadays leads the race for the Serie A Golden Boot with 13 goals during this season solely. = 8. German Cano – 35 goals While the top goalscorers list of 2023 is dominated by players nowadays playing in Europe, Fluminense Attacker Cano manages to break that trend. The skilled 35- year-old has scored over 280 career goals and he is n’t exposing any signs of decelerating down soon. Cano just hit the peak of his career by winning the Copa Libertadores with Fluminense. Argentina, call him up. 7. Denis Bouanga – 36 goals The former Saint- Etienne winger has been unplayable in MLS this time, scoring a whopping 36 goals across all competitions. We would n’t be surprised if he manages to make the difference in the final also. 6. Santiago Gimenez – 37 goals Since making the switch to Feyenoord in the summer of 2022, Gimenez has been in seriously productive form. He’s truly been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea of late thanks to his attractive goalscoring comeback. Of the 37 goals Gimenez has performed this year, 35 of them have been at club position while the another two were scored for Mexico. It’s surely just a matter of time before he gets himself a success move. 5. Barnabas Varga – 38 goals previous to last season, Varga had nothing scored further than 15 goals across an whole season. still, the Hungarian forward has been added productive than ever throughout 2023. Varga impressed with Paks last season and addressed to earn a move to Hungarian champs Ferencvarosi TC on the reverse of his productive spell. With 38 goals in 2023 so far, Verga is just a couple of goals down from the top spot. 4. Kylian Mbappe – 47 goals With Lionel Messi and Neymar now out of the picture at PSG, Mbappe is truly much the main man in the French club these days. Arguably the stylish player in the world right now, the 24- year-old has secured 47 goals in 2023 along with supplying plenitude of assists too. Mbappe has now won five successive Ligue 1 Golden Boots and he's now on track to win his sixth. When he’s at his genuinely sporty, not numerous defenders can lay a glove on him. 3. Cristiano Ronaldo – 48 goals He might be playing out in Saudi Arabia these days, but the fact that a 38- year-old Ronaldo is still 2nd- top for top goals scored in 2023 is crazy – it’s truly more unreal knowing he was top spot until recently, too. While maximum footballers are twisting down in their late thirties, CR7 quietly seems hungrier than before. He looks after his fitness better than anyone else in the sport and it’s no miracle he’s addressed to be the experiment of time. occasionally you exactly require to take a step back and acclaim greatness. = 1. Harry Kane – 49 goals Kane’s appearance from Tottenham this summer sounded necessary and the England captain has n’t came across back since signed for Bayern Munich. The 30- year-old has n’t taken any time to get going as he’s earlier secured 22 goals for the German club. Along with his productive form at club position, Kane continues to perform the goods on the international matches. Nine of his 49 goals in 2023 were delivered for England, while the remaining 40 were added for a mix of Tottenham and Bayern Munich, where he’s absolutely winging. = 1. Erling Haaland – 49 goals The Norwegian goal machine crossed all the blocks of goalscoring records during his debut season in the Premier League and he also formed an necessary part in a historic treble- winning movement. From a goalscoring point of view, Haaland has nearly no faults. The Man City striker has performed 49 goals and counting in 2023 so far, which puts him joint-top with Kane.

It always seemed likely to be a tough weekend for Fantasy managers with many faced with conflicting issues and that has proved to be the case for many, including Suj and James, who reflect on their underwhelming weekends during the Gamewwek 13 Review. A week can be a long time in football and that certainly feels the case ahead of this Clash of the Correspondents as James is joined By Newcastle United fan Simon Bibby and Chelsea fan Gary Mantle to preview the GW13 meeting at St James's Park. 10 days ago Newcastle were beating Arsenal but defeats since to Dortmund in the Champions League and Bournemouth in the Premier League amidst a mounting injury list has caused some concern. At the same time Chelsea were looking ahead to a daunting run of fixtures while struggling for form, but have since taken 4 points and scored 8 goals across 2 games against Tottenham and Manchester City. The fortunes have changed for both, quickly, so can Chelsea can now take advantage at one of te toughest way grounds to win at? Or Newcastle maintain their strong home form? Men in Blazers 11/13/23

WHAT A GAME: "Cole Palmer cooler, or Coler, than a polar bear's toe nails. He lashed the ball home and charged off stony faced. Watching him score for Chelsea and shush City fans as if he never played for the club was remarkable He is thriving with the freedom Chelsea have given him, and it is magnificent to witness." Rog and Davo breakdown a 4-4 rumble for the ages between Chelsea and Manchester City, wins for Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal, and defeats for Newcastle and Spurs. Planet FPL Live 4! | Planet FPL S. 7 Ep. 18 | GW11 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Last night at The Thirsty Bear Pub in Central London Suj and James welcomed an audience of Fantasy Football managers for the Gameweek Review and it was a Gameweek that will live long in the memory for being one of the lowest scoring weeks in memory for engaged managers with Erling Haaland off at half time against Bournemouth with a 1 point return and Mo Salah fared only 1 point better at Luton! All the games reviewed, which included Bruno Fernandes winning it late for Manchester United at Fulham, the controversy surrounding Newcastle's win against Arsenal, Brentford's topsy turvy victory against West Ham that was ultimately deserved in the end, Jeremy Doku's massive haul and the disappointing Aston Villa and Liverpool. And what next? Should Haaland owners sell? Injury concerns covered, transfer ideas pondered and GW12 captaincy discussed. Thank you to everyone who supported and helped with yesterday's event!
