On the People's Poll, discussion focuses on who is likely to go down with discussion on the remaining fixtures, recent and longer-term stats, home and away form, what can be learned from relegation battles historically, including reference to the mad 2002/03 season. Another horror weekend for Tottenham features heavily on the Gameweek Review Podcast as they lost the big 6 pointer against Nottingham Forest, meaning there could be another change of manager in the offing shortly. The only good news was West Ham lost too, and there were others higher up the league who will be feeling particularly disgruntled, with Newcastle losing the Tyne-Wear Derby despite taking an early lead and Chelsea were taken apart at Everton. And for FPL managers it's a time for calm with the Gameweek 32 deadline 18 days away and the FA Cup Quarter Finals likely to prove pivotal to strategy. But there's still plenty to speculate on and one of the teams who could suddenly become of serious interest is Brighton. It was a terminal week for Manchester City's Champions League hopes, with elimination at the hands of Real Madrid (including the hand of Bernardo Silva if we're being strictly accurate about it all). Meanwhile, the team's hopes of winning the Premier League title were dealt a blow after they failed to keep pace with leaders Arsenal with a 1-1 draw at West Ham. David Mooney is joined by City fans James Faulkner and, from the MCFC Lads podcast and social pages, Luke Stanley. They discuss the performances and the results this week... because there is a difference in how each is perceived... and they look ahead to what will undoubtedly be a tough test against Arsenal in the League Cup final on Sunday. Arsenal fan Michael Keshani returns to the show to give his thoughts on how Mikel Arteta's side are playing. Are they as good as previous Arsenal teams and are they even good to watch? We get into the narratives around the league leaders, plus look at how Sunday's final could impact the remainder of the title race, however unlikely it is that City close the gap at this stage. On top of all of that, we've roped in Chris Higginbottom and, from the City Ramble podcast, Amos Murphy to discuss City's best fluked goals. That's after Bernardo admitted that his strike at the London Stadium wasn't quite as intentional as it might have been. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. Only 12 goals scored from 9 games so far in Gameweek 30 which means clean sheet returns for some, but lots of blankers for others. And the big winners once again may well have been Bruno Fernandes captainers who once again banked a double digit return at Old Trafford. All the games reviewed as Arsenal left it late, but extended their lead over Manchester City who dropped points at a resolute West Ham, but The Hammers still dind themselves in the bottom three after all their rivals also drew. 10 man Leeds held on fairly comfortably at Palace, Richarlison scored late to earn Tottenham an unlikely point at an underwhelming Liverpool who benched both Mo Salah and Hugo Ekitike, but Nottingham Forest it may feel like a missed opportunity after they failed to score against Fulham. Plus, a reminder of what could happen with the postponed Manchester City v Crystal Palace fixture, one and two week transfers on mind and longer-term views on players also covered for those without a Wildcard. With huge results up and down the table, as well as a record broken in dramatic fashion, it felt like the biggest weekend in the Premier League season so far. Musa and Ryan chat about Arsenal’s win over Everton, where Max Dowman came on, changed the game and became the Premier League’s youngest ever goalscorer, in a late 2-0 win. It was made even more important due to West Ham and Manchester City’s 1-1 draw, which was a huge result for Nuno Espírito Santo, but a costly one for Pep Guardiola. The same scoreline happened at Anfield, where Spurs equalised late against Liverpool, to stop their losing streak. There's chat about Michael Carrick’s Manchester United, who bounced back with an impressive win over Aston Villa, before a quick bit on the week coming up for Arsenal and Manchester City. They then quickly head to Europe, for an Arda Güler wonder goal, a Barcelona win, some Serie A and a few more shoutouts. New merch has dropped! You can check it all out here. Jimbo has Duncan Alexander, Tim Spiers and Adrian Clarke for company after what felt like a massive Matchday 30 in the Premier League. Arsenal leave it late to beat Everton but do so with 16-year-old Max Dowman becoming the youngest scorer in Premier League history. Is that an iconic moment that will drive the Gunners towards the title? They’re now 9 points clear of Man City who draw 1-1 at West Ham. Have Tottenham turned the tide in the fight to stay up? A first point under Igor Tudor rescued by Richarlison at Anfield in the 90th minute with Liverpool fans booing their team at the final whistle. Man United power past Aston Villa 3-1 at Old Trafford to establish themselves as frontrunners in the Champions League race. Is Bruno Fernandes about to break the assist record? And Chelsea are on the outside looking in, after losing 1-0 at home to Newcastle, with most of the conversation revolving around the Blues’ pre-match centre circle huddle. Dharmesh Sheth is joined by Craig Hope, Miguel Delaney and Jack Rosser to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We begin with an historic day at the Emirates, where league leaders Arsenal secured a 2-0 win over Everton, with late goals from Gyokeres and 16-year-old rising star Max Dowman, who became the youngest Premier League goal-scorer. Nine points clear and seven games remaining: can Manchester City still mount a comeback? Staying on the topic of rising stars, 19-year-old Kimi Antonelli claimed victory at the Shanghai Grand Prix from pole position for Mercedes, making him the second youngest driver ever to win a race, after Max Verstappen. Then it’s on to a damaging result for Manchester City, as a 1–1 draw with West Ham deals a major blow to their title hopes and leaves Pep Guardiola’s side with serious ground to make up on Arsenal. Craig looks at the dip in form from Erling Haaland and Phil Foden, while Miguel asks if the spotlight should fall on the manager instead. And for West Ham, Nuno’s side are finding form at exactly the right moment in their relegation battle. Miguel is confident they’ll survive — but is he right to say “West Ham will definitely stay up?” Next, we head to Stamford Bridge, where referee Paul Tierney found himself bizarrely caught in the middle of a Chelsea player huddle. Liam Rosenior later claimed it was because his players were “respecting the ball.” Jack admits they struggled not to laugh, while Craig labels the whole thing immature. We wrap up with Newcastle, who secured a 1-0 away win against Chelsea. Despite six changes since midweek’s Barcelona clash and the absence of Sandro Tonali, Craig hails Howe’s side for a “dogged and determined” performance. With an impressive performance down the middle, we also ask: could Anthony Gordon be England’s number 9 at the World Cup? Sunday Supplement is a Sky Sports podcast. On Thursday's Football Daily, Phil Egan brings news from last night's Premier League action and Celtic keep their title challenge on track, whilst Troy Parrott is into another Dutch Cup final. Arsenal move seven points clear at the top of the Premier League after a narrow 1–0 win away to Brighton, with the result sparking debate about their game management and time-wasting tactics. Mikel Arteta defends his side’s approach in the title race after criticism from Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler. Brighton’s frustration grows as Opta stats show Arsenal took over 30 minutes of restart time, prompting Hürzeler to claim only one team tried to play football. Bukayo Saka marks his 300th Arsenal appearance in style, scoring the decisive goal as Arteta praises the England international’s importance to the team. Manchester City drop points in a dramatic 2–2 draw with Nottingham Forest, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side seven points off the pace. Manchester United suffer their first defeat under Michael Carrick, losing 2–1 at Newcastle despite playing against ten men for the entire second half. João Pedro hits a hat-trick as Chelsea beat Aston Villa 4–1, with Liam Rosenior praising the Brazilian striker’s form this season. West Ham boost their survival hopes with a 1–0 win at Fulham, thanks to another crucial goal from in-form winger Crysencio Summerville. Tottenham boss Igor Tudor dismisses relegation talk ahead of Spurs’ crucial clash with Crystal Palace, while Palace manager Oliver Glasner backs Brennan Johnson to shine against his former club. Suj and James discuss all the key action from Gameweek 29's first 9 games, where bench points have been required by many FPL managers again, and it was a great night for Arsenal as they won at Brighton as Manchester City slipped up at home to Nottingham Forest, and there was a win for West Ham too which means it's very squeaky at the bottom. Chelsea were the only winners of those seeking a top 5 spot and Joao Pedro hauled big with a hat-trick and an assist in victory at an Aston Villa side that are currently struggling. All the key FPL fallout discussed with updates from midweek injuries, rotations, haulers and blankers. But with a clear message, there is much to learn before we get to Gameweek 30. It was an unforgettable week for many FPL managers, and that included James, whose bench boost went bust with three no shows, but a score of 99 still meant a big jump inside the top 10k. For Suj it was a bit more forgettable. Infact, the only good news was a defeat for Nottingham Forest at Brighton, as Suj's West Ham and James' Tottenham once again fell to defeats. Those defeats feature in a review of all the games from a weekend that featured high drama, many popular FPL assets returning big, others including Erling Haaland no showing and now many are faced with multiple flags in their team, at a period where many may have wanted to roll transfers. So now what ahead of the quick turnaround before GW29!? Jimbo, Daniel Storey, Seb Stafford-Bloor and Matt Davies-Adams react to another pulsating Premier League weekend. Arsenal edged past Chelsea 2-1 with all the goals in the game coming from corners, responding to a Haaland-less Man City winning at Leeds. A nervy finish at the Emirates, as the Gunners go 5 points clear having played a game more. North London neighbours Tottenham are beaten again under Igor Tudor at Fulham, to make it 10 matches without a win in the Premier League as their relegation fears grow. Apart from Wolves, the bottom six all lose so it’s as you were in the battle at the bottom, even after an incredible seven goal thriller at Turf Moor. Goals galore on Saturday with big wins for Liverpool and Everton. And Man United are up to 3rd in the table after coming from behind against Crystal Palace. Carl Anka tells us more from Old Trafford. Dharmesh Sheth is joined by Jonathan Liew, Martin Samuel and Jack Pitt-Brooke to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We kick off with Manchester City’s win over Leeds United at Elland Road; and while the sporting headline was Antoine Semenyo’s goal pulling Arsenal back to within two points with games level, we also address the City fans booing the Ramadan break and discuss the possible consequences. Then it’s over to Arsenal. With 15 goals so far in his debut season, we ask whether Viktor Gyökeres can be the striker to fire them to the title. Jack isn’t convinced, arguing that a more mobile profile like Hugo Ekitike might have been the better fit for Mikel Arteta’s side. We also turn to Chelsea and ask whether Liam Rosenior’s side are slipping further behind Arsenal. Jonathan argues that Arsenal have pulled ahead, widening the gap between the two London rivals. Then, we break down Liverpool’s 5-2 win at Anfield against a struggling West Ham. With seven of their last nine league goals coming from corners, could Liverpool be the new kings of set-piece attacks? Finally, Tottenham face a crucial run with two London derbies and a tough trip to Atlético on the horizon. Could this be the moment when Igor Tudor’s real business begins?
