Caught Offside: 'Just Asking Questions' About the Premier League

Is it once again Arsenal's to lose? On the latest edition of Caught Offside, Andrew and JJ wonder if Manchester City and Aston Villa have swung the title race fully back in Arsenal's favor. Why does Pep have such a hard time with Spurs? Did Dominic Solanke just win a Puskas? And have Villa's xG overperformances finally caught up with them? Then, we dive into Manchester United's dramatic win against Fulham and Casemiro's importance to the team - does his upcoming exit make the mission clear for United in the summer transfer window? And how about Chelsea coming from 2 down to beat West Ham? While Rosenior gets the praise, JJ suggests that it was actually Nuno's errors that allowed it to happen. Page One | Planet FPL S. 9 Ep. 37 | GW24 Review | Fantasy Premier League

A very enjoyable weekend of football in the Premier League that included comebacks, momentum shifts and late drama and some FPL haulers too in the likes of (substitute) Joao Pedro and the Liverpool pair of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike. Pedro and other Chelsea assets will take on greater appeal should they overturn their Carabao Cup deficit at Arsenal. The team that progresses now has a confirmed Double Gameweek in 26 and that may influence forthcoming moves with both have attractive fixtures this weekend too. But Chelsea were given a big scare against West Ham, The Blues completed one of a number of comebacks this weekend, as did Liverpool against Newcastle and Tottenham showed fight to come back from two down against Manchester City, who slipped further behind Arsenal. Whilst Manchester United let their own two goal advantage slip, but still won, with Bruno Fernandes again returning well for those who captained him, and he's likely to be even more popular this forthcoming weekend. All the games covered as usual and all the key FPL points deliberated. Plus Villa lose a second home game in a row to 10-man Brentford. Is the title race over? Set-Piece Again | Chaos at the Bridge | Excellent Ekitike

Dharmesh Sheth is joined by Jacqui Oatley, Riath Al-Samarrai and Martin Samuel to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We open with Arsenal’s 4–0 win at Elland Road, stretching their lead at the top to seven points as Arteta’s side punished Leeds united with ruthless set-piece execution. We then head to a chaotic night at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea were booed off at half-time with West Ham two goals to the good. Liam Rosenior’s side mounted an impressive second-half comeback to win 3–2, but Riath asks: do you applaud a man for cleaning up his own mess? Next, we’re joined by Adam Collins to unpack the news that England cricketer Harry Brook lied about his altercation with a bouncer in a Wellington nightclub last year, now admitting he claimed to be alone in order to protect teammates. Finally, we break down Liverpool’s 4–1 Anfield win over Newcastle, as Florian Wirtz impressed and Hugo Ekitike haunted his long-term admirers with a ruthless first-half double. Chelsea v West Ham | CotC with Gary Mantle & Chris Stone | Planet FPL 2025/26

On Clash of the Correspondents it's West London versus East London as James welcomes Chelsea fan Gary Mantle and West Ham fan Chris Stone to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Saturday's meeting at Stamford Bridge. West Ham have won two in a row and though they remain 5 points from safety they are giving themselves a chance, and in the likes of Matheus Fernandes and Jarrod Bowen may even have a couple of attractive FPL assets to consider. But Chelsea will appeal to many more. With arguably the best four game stretch that any team has all season multiple Blues assets appeal including Trevor Chalobah, Enzo Fernandez and Joao Pedro. But can Fantasy managers rely on their minutes moving forward? Plus, Liam Rosenior's start, Cole Palmer's form and fitness, the battle for a Champions League place, West Ham having a more settled side and lots more, including why how Chelsea do in Naples tonight could be so pivotol for FPL managers. Planning A GW24 Wildcard? | Chip Talk | Planet FPL 2025/26

Why Wildcard now? For Suj and James, their strategy will likely be to wait for Gameweek 32 ahead of doubles and blanks, but there are plenty who are going now. Suj and James explore why many are making the decision to Wildcard now, including teams that could have assets that are desirable, and assets that may be binned. And very importantly there's a look at strategy ideas for those on Wildcard, including understanding future fixture swings, the impact on Chip usage, including if it means a bench boost should be used soon, how to mask potential deficiencies for DGW33, squad depth, managing BGW31, the importance of rolling transfers and a look at a possible draft. Manchester United beat Arsenal in the Stadio derby, the Premier League grind and much more

It was the Stadio derby this weekend, with Manchester United beating Arsenal in the league at the Emirates for the first time since 2017. Musa and Ryan chat about a game that continued the good vibes around Michael Carrick's appointment, following up last week’s Manchester derby victory, thanks to two unbelievable goals from Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha (03:27). They also look at it from the Arsenal perspective, their attacking issues and the differences between the recent league and cup performances. It meant Aston Villa and Manchester City closed the gap to their wins, so there’s chat about those games as well as the rest of the results (32:11), including a late winner for Bournemouth over Liverpool, another West Ham win and more as the Premier League grind continues. Then it’s off to Europe (53:32), where Bayern lost for the first time in the Bundesliga this season thanks to a 1-2 defeat to Augsburg, Inter opened up a gap in Serie A, PSG went top of Ligue 1 and wins for Barcelona, Real Madrid and much more! London listeners, don't forget to get tickets for our next show at the Southbank Centre on March 1st, with special guest Nish Kumar. They're available here. One Point Leak | Planet FPL S. 9 Ep. 36 | GW23 Review | Fantasy Premier League

On the review of the weekend football Suj and James reflect on yet another Gameweek where FPL points were hard to find and it all began before deadline with leaks that Erling Haaland and Phil Foden would not start for Manchester City. Trouble was, that for those who has the info, a change in captaincy didn't necessarily bring reward. So, with Mo Salah back, is dropping Haaland a genuine consideration? Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Chelsea all won and will have interest in their assets, and so too will Manchester United assets following their win at league leaders Arsenal. There was more frustration for James as Tottenham failed to win (and nearly lost at Burnley), but Suj's West Ham did make it back to back wins, trouble was Nottingham Forest one too. All the games and all the key FPL talking points covered. Man United stun leaders Arsenal + Slot under pressure at Liverpool?

Jimbo, Daniel Storey, Matt Davies-Adams and Tim Spiers are in the studio after a seismic matchday 23 in the Premier League. It’s now 3 games without a victory for Arsenal as Man United inflict a first home defeat of the season on the leaders. The Gunners’ lead is down to 4 points while Michael Carrick has taken the Red Devils into the top 4! Villa bounce back from defeat against Everton with a very impressive 2-0 win at St James’s Park. And Liam Rosenior’s Chelsea momentarily went 4th, extending Palace’s winless run to 11 games. Liverpool’s unbeaten run is ended in a five-goal thriller at Bournemouth. Not a good time for Arne Slot to see his side slip out of the top 4. At the bottom, there were wins for Forest and West Ham, while Burnley took a point from Spurs, as the fan fury towards Frank continues. Scholes vs Martinez, Rice Ballon d’Or Talk & Rory’s Rosenior Rage | The Overlap Fan Debate

Welcome back to The Fan Debate, brought to you by Sky Bet. We start with the biggest talking point as Paul Scholes is challenged on his criticism of Lisandro Martínez, sparking a heated debate about pundit responsibility and whether players are judged too harshly. The focus then shifts to the title race as Arsenal continue to fly and Manchester City look to close the gap. Arsenal fan Matt backs his side’s chances and makes the case for Declan Rice as a Ballon d’Or contender, while questions are also asked about Pep Guardiola and City’s tough January. We also look at Manchester United, where Michael Carrick is in the spotlight, and debate whether he could earn a permanent role, plus where Bruno Fernandes ranks among the club’s greats. Elsewhere, managerial pressure builds across the league with Chelsea, Spurs, Palace and West Ham all under discussion as fans give their views. Are pundits too harsh on players? On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Burnley fan Jack Toner and Tottenham Hotspur fan Ricky Saunders ahead of Saturday's important GW23 meeting at Turf Moor. For Tottenham however, a visit from Borussia Dortmund comes first and to the amazement of many Tottenham fans Thomas Frank remains in charge. Has he got to go? It looks an uphill task for Burnley to stay up, but they have drawn four of last six including against Manchester United and Liverpool in the last two. But have they themselves too much to do? And if so, how can they break this yo-yo cycle of promotion followed by relegation? There's a start or bench dilemma for Martin Dubravka owners this week, Clarets enablers are covered and there's coverage of Tottenham assets too. Burnley are 13 without a win, but Bournemouth were 11, and West Ham 10, ahead of playing Dr Tottenham... Caught Offside: AFCON Chaos, Man United's Carrick Bounce, Can it Get Worse for Spurs?

Senegal are champions of Africa for the 2nd time in the last 3 tournaments... but somehow, that seems like just a small part of the story. We'll share our thoughts on everything from the controversial calls to ball boys battling for towels to players being pulled off the pitch. Then, it's off to Manchester where the boys break down a dominant showing from Manchester United in Michael Carrick's debut. We'll talk about what we liked from United in this 2-0 win over City and whether or not we think it's sustainable. And finally, following their latest home defeat to West Ham, we'll take a look at Tottenham and ask the question "can it get worse?" in our our newest segment titled "It Can." The moment the AFCON final peaked, Wenger's Law & football gestures at bus stops

Adam Hurrey is joined on the Adjudication Panel by David Walker and Nick Miller. On the agenda: the unifying absurdity that was the Africa Cup of Nations final, whether Spurs vs West Ham's "El Dissatisfactico" is the worst of its genre yet, an unexpected Premier League striker's name in a ghost story, the least satisfying FA Cup draw combinations, one Arsene Wenger tweak to the laws of football that might have some appeal, and footballing body language at bus stops. Meanwhile, the panel ponder the quickest and easiest way a mere civilian could win a foul in a Premier League match. Man United dominate City in the derby, plus the incredible AFCON finale

It’s Jimbo, Daniel Storey, Colin Millar and Luis Miguel Echegaray in position after another dramatic weekend of Premier League action. It’s 4 games without a win for Man City as Michael Carrick’s Man United produce a performance for the ages to win 2-0. How did the Red Devils do it? For the second matchday in a row, Arsenal fail to fully capitalise on City’s slip-up as they draw 0-0 at Forest. Will Mikel Arteta come to regret these missed opportunities in the title race? Perhaps not as Villa also stutter with a 1-0 defeat to Everton. We record the pod as the AFCON final is in progress, not knowing what was about to unfold. A controversial penalty, a walk-off, pitch invasions, a Panenka and eventually a heartbreaking defeat for hosts Morocco against Senegal. Maher Mezahi was there. Billed by some as El Sackico, West Ham are last-minute winners at Tottenham, who lose a third straight game. What next for Thomas Frank? And what next for Oliver Glasner after a remarkable few days where he reveals his plan to leave Palace in the summer, then takes aim at the board for abandoning him and his players. Matt Woosnam has more. Produced by Charlie Jones RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Aston Villa 0-1 Everton (05.00) • PART 1b: Wolves 0-0 Newcastle (13.00) • PART 2a: Man United 2-0 Man City (20.00) • PART 2b: Forest 0-0 Arsenal (33.00) • PART 3a: Glasner takes aim at Eagles board, with Matt Woosnam (38.00) • PART 3b: Spurs 1-2 West Ham (48.00) • PART 4: The rest of the Premier League weekend (55.00) • PART 5: Senegal win AFCON with Maher Mezahi (62.00) Hosted on Acast. Wolves v Newcastle | CotC with Bradley Parker & Simon Bibby | Planet FPL 2025/26

On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Wolves fan Bradley Parker and Newcastle fan Simon Bibby to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Sunday's meeting at Molineux. Both have hit a recent resurgence of form when it was really needed, with both unbeaten in four in all competitions, with Newcastle winning their last three in the Premier League and Wolvescfinally managed their first league win of the season against West Ham. Cause for optimism or do respective concerns persist for both? Matheus Mane, price as a 4.5 forward in FPL is now attracting serious attention and looks good for minutes moving forward. But is he the only Wolves asset that can be considered. Bruno Guimaraes is having an outstanding season, but is there a case to now ignore him and the likes of Malick Thiaw and Anthony Gordon as Newcastle approach a difficult and packed schedule starting with tonight's Carabao Cup Semi Final 1st leg against Manchester City? Premier League Review: Arsenal miss chance to extend lead

After five league wins in a row Arsenal missed the chance to go 8 points clear of Manchester City and Aston Villa after drawing 0-0 with Liverpool at the Emirates on Thursday night. Cerys Jones, Reuben Pinder and Andy Jones join Matt Davies-Adams to reflect on the match, and talk the best and worst of the midweek Premier League action including Thomas Frank's cupset, a thriller at St James' Park, life after Ruben Amorim and whether new boss Liam Rosenior can fix Chelsea's discipline problem. Plus silly red cards, too little too late for Wolves and whether Nuno Espirito Santo can save West Ham from relegation. Host: Matt Davies-Adams With: Cerys Jones, Reuben Pindy, Andy Jones Executive Producers: Abi Paterson & Adey Moorhead Producer: Jay Beale Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
