Barcelona win another classic Clasico while Napoli slip up in Scudetto race

Jimbo’s joined by Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle for your weekly dose of Continental chatter. It’s a clean sweep of four Clasico victories this season for Barcelona over Real after Sunday afternoon’s bonkers 4-3 win at Montjuïc. It moves Hansi Flick’s side seven points clear with three games left to play, while Carlo Ancelotti sets off into the Brazilian sunset… Over in Italy, after their midweek Champions League heroics Inter closed the gap on Napoli at the top of the table to just one point as Antonio Conte’s side conceded an 84th minute equaliser from Genoa to set up a nervy finish with two games left of this enthralling Serie A campaign. We touch base with the equally dramatic title race in the Eredivisie - where Ajax’s nine-point lead at the top of the table has evaporated to just one. Chasers PSV came back from 2-0 down at Feyenoord to win 3-2 in the 99th minute AND Ajax lost 3-0 at home! Michiel Jongsma stops by to tell us more. In France, Monaco locked in their UCL place courtesy of a 2-0 win over Lyon - while Marseille followed suit in their 3-1 victory at Le Havre - but could Roberto De Zerbi’s future be elsewhere? And in the Bundesliga, there’s wild celebrations in Hamburg as they return to the top flight for the first time in seven years - while the hunt for UCL football goes down to the last day as Dortmund look to pip Freiburg or Frankfurt to a top four finish. Plus - bicycle kicks, train journeys with footballers, Xherdan Shaqiri guiding Basel to glory and making friends with all of you… Produced by Lucy Oliva. Simon Lappin | The King of Spain

This week, we’re joined by Simon Lappin, who shares incredible stories from carrying a crossbar across town just to train, to reaching Premier League glory with Norwich, and getting steamrolled by Celtic and Rangers while playing for St Mirren in Scotland. After joining Norwich in 2007, Lappin quickly fell in love with Delia Smith’s Norwich, working under the likes of Peter Grant, Bryan Gunn, and Paul Lambert. He enjoyed plenty of ups and downs, including Paul Lambert taking Norwich from League 1 to the Premier League, getting ‘frozen’ out of the team, and, of course, many legendary nights out with Browny (and his mum). Barca and Real grab last-gasp winners as Napoli go level with Inter

Jimbo’s got Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Italian expert Max Callegari alongside him to recap all the latest action from across the continent. Fresh off the back of last week’s thrilling Champions League quarterfinals - it’s back to domestic matters - but with a nod to the small matter of Arsenal v PSG and Barcelona v Inter just around the corner… Back in Serie A, Napoli moved level on points with Inter at the top of the table after the Nerazzurri were beaten 1-0 by a stunning goal from substitute Riccardo Orsolini. So, could we be heading towards a play-off to decide who takes the Scudetto?! In Spain, Barcelona and Real Madrid scored dramatic stoppage-time winners to keep the La Liga title race alive ahead of Saturday’s Copa del Rey final between the two. No such luck for Atleti though, who saw their slim title hopes dashed courtesy of a late defeat at the hands of our favourites Las Palmas. Over in France, it’s all eyes on Arsenal for PSG as they continued their march to an unbeaten league season with a 2-1 win at Le Havre. Marseille put five past Montpellier to take back second place from Monaco - but it’s their plans for the rest of the campaign which have raised a few eyebrows… And in Germany, the Bundesliga title race is all but over as Bayern Munich thrashed Heidenheim 4-0 to move eight points clear after Leverkusen were held at St Pauli. But could Xavi Alonso’s focus be elsewhere with links to the Real Madrid job growing stronger? Produced by Lucy Oliva. There's Only One Place to Begin ... Arminia Bielefeld!

PSG almost champions as Mbappe and Lukaku bag big goals in title races

Jimbo’s joined by Pol Ballús, Julien Laurens, Rory Smith & Seb Stafford-Bloor as the domestic action returns across Europe with the end of the season in sight. Inter remain three points clear at the top of the Serie A table after their 2-1 win over Udinese, while Romelu Lukaku scored the 400th goal of his career in Napoli’s vital victory over struggling Milan to keep the pressure on the leaders. Over in Spain, three points is also the gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid - who both recorded wins with braces from Mbappe and Lewandowski. Plus, Antony’s Betis just can’t stop winning in a fiery Seville derby. PSG continued to romp towards the Ligue 1 title - which is now all but mathematically sealed - with an emphatic 6-1 victory at Saint-Etienne, while Strasbourg are on their best run in six years after their impressive 4-2 win over Lyon. Elsewhere, Marseille suffered a hat-trick of defeats as they were beaten 3-1 by lowly Reims - their first league victory since November. And in Germany, defeat for Leipzig at Gladbach spelled the end for Marco Rose, with Thomas Tuchel’s former assistant Zsolt Low installed as interim boss. The Nations League quarter-finals see Germany win in Italy and Croatia overcome France thanks to another ridiculously good Luke Modric performance. Cesc’s Como shock Conte’s Napoli, while intriguing last 16 ties await

Jimbo’s got Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Rory Smith and Pol Ballús alongside him for all the latest continental chatter. Friday afternoon’s Champions League draw presented some fascinating match-ups including Real v Atleti, Bayern v Bayer and PSG v Liverpool. We’ve got a closer look at all those ties with the round of 16 looming… In La Liga, it was a rare weekend where all three title challengers registered three fairly comfortable wins! It leaves Barca and Real locked on 54 points at the top, with Atleti just a point behind. Over in France there was plenty of drama on and off the pitch - with cowboy hats, calls of corruption and meltdowns caught on CCTV. But away from all that, the table shows that PSG have extended their lead at the top to 13 points after their 3-2 victory at Lyon. Speaking of corruption - Slovenian ref Slavko Vincic was parachuted in to referee the Istanbul derby after a season marred by controversial officiating and allegations of foulplay. It was a rather eventful evening as Galatasaray said they would "initiate criminal proceedings" against Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho after claiming he made "racist statements" following the teams' 0-0 draw. For a closer look at Serie A we’re joined by Sky Italia’s Filippo Benincampi - as Cesc’s Como got the better of Conte’s Napoli to cost them top spot, Inter taking full advantage with their 1-0 win over Genoa. And in the Bundesliga, there were finally signs of life for Dortmund as Niko Kovac picked up his first league win courtesy of a four-goal haul from Serhou Guirassy, aided by super sub and Chelsea loanee Carney Chukwuemeka. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend and Champions League round of 16 teases (00.40) • PART 2: La Liga review - the big three all win while Antony sees red (07.15) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - chaos off and on the pitch for Lyon v PSG and Auxerre v Marseille (19.00) • PART 4: Galatasaray 0-0 Fenerbahce fallout (35.00) • PART 5: Serie A review - Napoli feel the pressure, plus could Gasperini and Atalanta’s love affair be coming to an end? (43.25) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Dortmund finally show signs of life with Bayer v Bayern on the horizon (57.00) Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Real Madrid and Man City go again, as Kompany’s Bayern edge closer to the title

Jimbo’s joined by Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and Michael Cox for your weekly dose of European action. We begin with the big F-bomb controversy which has taken La Liga by storm, Nabil Bentaleb’s dream return to action for Lille - and a look ahead to the all-important Champions League Knockout Round Play-off second legs, with Real v Man City topping the midweek billing. Elsewhere in Spain, the costly red cards for Bellingham and Barrios meant Real and Atleti left the door wide open for Barcelona who faced Rayo Vallecano on Monday night (after we’d recorded) - and it turns out that Antony fella is actually quite good - after making in three goals in three games at new home Betis… Over in Germany, it looks like Bayern Munich have one hand on the Bundesliga title after their goalless draw with closest rivals Bayer Leverkusen means the gap at the top of the table stays at eight points. Elsewhere the domestic misery continues to pile on Borussia Dortmund, beaten 2-0 by Bochum and sitting 11th in the league. In Italy, Juventus continued their surge up the Serie A table with a 1-0 win over Inter in the Derby d'Italia. It means Simone Inzaghi’s side missed the chance to go top after leaders Napoli had fallen to their third consecutive draw, held 2-2 by Lazio. And in Ligue 1, Fabian Ruiz bagged the only goal against Toulouse as PSG maintained their 10-point lead at the top of the table while Mika Biereth continued his remarkable start to life in Monaco with his second hat-trick in as many home games in their 7-1 thrashing of Nantes. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend, profanity & Champions League teases (00.45) • PART 2: La Liga review - Real and Atleti drop points to open door for Barca (16.00) • PART 3: Bundesliga review - Top two stalemate hands title advantage to Kompany’s side (26.52) • PART 4: Serie A review - Juve mounting top four charge as Napoli draw three in a row (41.45) • PART 5: Ligue 1 review - Bentaleb’s fairytale goal as Strasbourg fly high (50.45) Hosted on Acast. Barca, Real and Atleti neck and neck, plus Champions League play-off preview

Jimbo’s got Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Julien Laurens and Rory Smith alongside him as the Champions League Knockout Round Play-offs get underway. We start with a look at some of the big ties across Tuesday and Wednesday including the small matter of Manchester City v Real Madrid - for the fourth season in a row in Europe! Elsewhere, there’s the all-French affair between Brest and PSG, Celtic host Bayern Munich and Feyenoord v Milan just got a bit more interesting following the dismissal of Brian Priske… Domestically, in Spain the La Liga title race is the gift that keeps on giving with just two points separating Real, Atleti and Barcelona at the top of the table. That’s after Carlo Ancelotti’s side were held in a 1-1 draw by their Madrid rivals, allowing Barca to close the gap with a 4-1 victory over Sevilla. Over in Italy, it was a big Monday night in Milan as the Champions closed the gap to leaders Napoli to just one point after a 2-1 win over Fiorentina… just four nights after they’d played in Bergamot and la Viola had won 3-0 in a match that was rescheduled after the collapse of midfielder Edoardo Bove back in December. Napoli’s lead at the top stands at one point as they were held by Udinese. In France, PSG continued their imperious Ligue 1 form with a 4-1 victory over Monaco, which included a first goal for the club for a certain Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Distant chasers Marseille and Nice both registered wins of their own to keep up their Champions League charge in what’s a very competitive chase for a top three spot. And in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich prepared for their trip to Glasgow with a 3-0 win over Werder Bremen, stretching their lead at the top of the table to eight points. That’s because closest rivals Leverkusen let complacency creep in again as they were held to a goalless draw by Wolfsburg. Meanwhile, Dortmund have gone five home games without a win in the league - their worst run since 2006 - after their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Stuttgart. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Champions League teases (06.15) • PART 3: La Liga review - Title race gets even tighter, plus is Antony actually good in Spain?! (10.35) • PART 4: Serie A review - Miixed fortunes in Inter v Fiorentina double-header as Napoli slip up again (21.20) • PART 5: Ligue 1 review - Kvara bags his first PSG goal as chasing pack bunches up (41.35) • PART 6: Bundesliga review - Bayern extend their lead while Dortmund’s troubles continue (49.25) Hosted on Acast. La Liga title race takes another turn as Dembele dazzles again

Julien Laurens, Pol Ballús, Seb Stafford-Bloor and James Horncastle join Jimbo for a deep-dive into all the latest Continental action and transfer news as the window officially *slammed* shut. Over in Italy, the spoils were shared in the Derby della Madonnina after Stefan De Vrij bagged a 93rd minute equaliser, while league leaders Napoli conceded a last-gasp goal of their own to draw 1-1 in Rome. Plus - it’s farewell, not goodbye to James as he embarks on an important project… In Ligue 1, Ousmane Dembele just can’t stop scoring! He became the first PSG player ever to score hat-tricks in back-to-back games as they came from behind to beat Brest 5-2. So, what’s suddenly clicked for him in Paris? There was yet another twist in the title race over in Spain as Real Madrid succumbed to a 1-0 defeat at Espanyol despite having 76% possession. Atleti took full advantage to close the gap at the top to just a point after their 2-0 win over Mallorca, while Barcelona also won thanks to Robert Lewandowski’s 30th goal of the season. And in the Bundesliga Harry Kane continues to do Harry Kane things, bagging a brace in his 50th appearance in the league as Bayern survived a late scare to beat Holstein Keil 4-3. They did it without Mathys Tel who’s now on loan with Tottenham - but what kind of player are Spurs getting? Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moments of the weekend (00.45) • PART 2: Serie A review - 1-1 draws across the board for the title chasers (05.10) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Ousmane Dembele the hat-trick hero (again!) (18.45) • PART 4: La Liga review - Real beaten to open door for Atleti & Barca (32.30) • PART 5: Bundesliga review - Bayern survive late scare as Tel heads to Tottenham (44.05) Hosted on Acast. Barca stun Real in chaotic Supercopa, while Kvaratskhelia nears PSG move

Jimbo’s joined by a full complement of European experts as Pol Ballús, James Horncastle, Julien Laurens and the returning Seb Stafford-Bloor are on hand to look back on a busy weekend of action. We begin in Saudi Arabia, where Barcelona stunned Real Madrid to win the Supercopa de España in emphatic fashion. Back on home soil, Atleti went top of La Liga after a club record 14th win in a row in all competitions courtesy of their 1-0 victory over Osasuna. The Bundesliga is back after die Winterpause - and it returned in style on Friday night as Leverkusen made it nine wins in a row and inflicted Dortmund’s first home defeat of the season as they ran out 3-2 winners. Plus, which striker who scored a remarkable goal this weekend gets a comparison to Mark Viduka?! Over in Serie A, Napoli sit top of the pile after their 2-0 win over Verona - but it looks like Kvaradona could be on his way out... Meanwhile, Atalanta stuttered to their second consecutive draw to fall behind Inter in the table. Draw specialists Juve made it a remarkable 12 stalemates from their 19 league fixtures after it finished 1-1 in the Turin derby. And in Ligue 1, PSG stay unbeaten and seven points clear at the top of the table after their 2-1 win over Saint-Étienne, while Marseille try to keep up the pressure with their 2-1 victory at Rennes. Pulisic inspires in the Supercoppa as the Dani Olmo saga continues

Jimbo’s back for the first time in 2025 and he’s got James Horncastle, Pol Ballús and Julien Laurens alongside him to run the rule over all the latest action from across Europe. AC Milan kicked off the new year in style as they fought back from 2-0 down to beat rivals Inter 3-2 in the Supercoppa over in Saudi Arabia as new boss Sérgio Conceição got off to the perfect start. Meanwhile, back on home soil Roma continued their resurgence under Claudio Ranieri with a 2-0 victory in the derby with Lazio. In La Liga the Dani Olmo debacle rumbles on… He’s with Barcelona in Saudi Arabia, but he’s not eligible to play after Spain's football authorities rejected the club’s attempt to register the midfielder. On the pitch, Jude Bellingham atoned for his missed penalty with a 95th-minute winner as 10-man Real Madrid snatched a dramatic victory at Valencia to move top of the table. And in France, PSG picked up the first silverware of the season courtesy of Ousmane Dembele’s stoppage-time winner in their 1-0 victory over Monaco in the Trophée des Champions over in Doha. Back in Ligue 1, Marseille closed the gap at the top of the table to 7 points courtesy of their big 5-1 win over Le Havre. No German action to speak of as die Winterpause continues - BUT we do have Dortmund v Leverkusen to look forward to on Friday night as the Bundesliga finally returns. Produced by Lucy Oliva. Atletico and Atalanta top the tree, plus our 2024 highlights

Jimbo’s got his festive friends alongside him as Julien Laurens, James Horncastle and Pol Ballús bring the pre-Christmas cheer and reflect on all the action from across the continent. There was late, late drama in La Liga as Alexander Sørloth’s 96th minute goal made it 12 wins in a row for new league leaders Atleti following a 2-1 victory over Barcelona - who are down to third and in their worst run of form for over 20 years. Elsewhere, a certain Kylian Mbappé’s starting to look pretty good for Real Madrid… It was all about the Coupe de France in, well, France - including humiliation for Montpellier at the hands of fourth tier Le Puy Foot, memorable penalty saves and disappointment for Andy Carroll. Meanwhile in the Bundesliga it looks like we’ve got a two-horse race on our hands for the title, as Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen both registered big 5-1 wins to keep things nicely poised heading into die Winterpause. And it’s even tighter in Serie A, with Napoli just two points behind Atalanta - the leaders having extended their winning run to 11 straight games in a tight 3-2 victory at Empoli. Plus, we say goodbye to 2024 with some… potentially unconventional picks for our best moments of the past 12 months. Produced by Lucy Oliva. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend, festive plans and Christmas food (00.40) • PART 2: La Liga review - Sorloth stuns Barca and Mbappe finds his form (08.45) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - damaged Donnarumma and Coupe de France upsets (21.25) • PART 4: Bundesliga review - Bayern and Leverkusen bag five before die Winterpause (31.10) • PART 5: Serie A review - De Ketelaere stars as Napoli keep up the pace (34.55) • PART 6: Moments of 2024 - judo, comebacks and Knights (45.15) Hosted on Acast. Arsenal Win the Stadio Derby, and the Thriller-Upon-Tyne

It was the first 'Stadio' derby of the season, and—even though it wasn't the best game of the week—Musa and Ryan begin with Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Manchester United (03:39) before heading to Newcastle, where there was a six-goal thriller with Liverpool (19:26). They recap wins for Chelsea and Man City before heading to Spain and Germany (32:40), where Bayern lost to Leverkusen in the Pokal and Athletic Club beat Real Madrid in La Liga for the first time in nine years. Barcelona falter again while Atalanta win eight in a row

Pol Ballús, Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford Bloor and James Horncastle are alongside Jimbo for your weekly fix of continental action. La Liga is getting rather interesting all of a sudden, as Barcelona fell to a shock 2-1 defeat by Las Palmas - their first victory away at Barca since 1971! Real Madrid took full advantage and bounced back from their midweek Champions League disappointment at Anfield with a 2-0 win over Getafe. It means they’re just a point behind Hansi Flick’s side with a game in hand. But who’s that in third and just a point further behind… a resurgent Atlético Madrid?! Atalanta are showing they mean business in Serie A this season as they recorded their eighth straight win in all competitions with a 2-0 victory at Roma on Monday night. They’re just a point behind leaders Napoli, who were 1-0 winners at Torino thanks to Scott McTominay’s first half strike. But there were scary scenes in Fiorentina as their match with Inter was suspended and then abandoned when Edoardo Bove collapsed in the 16th minute. Thankfully the news since has been positive after receiving treatment in hospital. It ended 1-1 in Der Klassiker between Dortmund and Bayern on Saturday evening, but there’s concern for Harry Kane who went off early with what appeared to be a hamstring injury. Eintracht Frankfurt were big 4-0 winners in Heidenheim on Sunday to close the gap on Bayern at the top of the table to four points. And in Ligue 1, PSG’s poor week continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Nantes - the first time they’ve come from behind to take a point all season. But despite dropping points Luis Enrique’s side are seven points clear at the top of the table - and have Marseille to thank following their 2-1 win over Monaco. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Moment of the weekend and latest on Edoardo Bove - (00.45) • PART 2: Bundesliga review - Dortmund and Bayern share the spoils as Leipzig’s horror season continues (13.00) • PART 3: Ligue 1 review - Disgruntlement in Paris as PSG held (26.40) • PART 4: La Liga review - Barcelona’s mini slump continues while Real and Atleti close the gap (37.40) • PART 5: Serie A review - Napoli’s slender win keeps them ahead of a charging Atalanta (50.30) Hosted on Acast. An incredible Serie A title race, while Real close the gap on Barca

Jimbo’s got Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford-Bloor, Pol Ballús and James Horncastle alongside him for a deep dive into a fascinating weekend of action across the continent. It’s fair to say the Serie A title race is hotting up, with just two points separating Napoli in first and Juventus in sixth! That’s after Inter and Napoli shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the San Siro, while Atalanta, Fiorentina, Lazio and Juve all picked up big wins. Real Madrid clawed back some ground in the La Liga title race after their 4-0 win over Osasuna which included a hat-trick for Vinicius, a first goal of the season for Jude Bellingham - and a devastating injury for Eder Militao. They’re now six points behind Barcelona with a game in hand after Hansi Flick’s side fell to only their second league defeat of the season at Real Sociedad in controversial circumstances... Bayern Munich find themselves five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table after their 1-0 win over St Pauli courtesy of Jamal Musiala's sensational strike. Meanwhile, Dortmund’s horror start to the season rumbled on with a 3-1 defeat at Mainz - and Leverkusen’s week to forget continued as they were held by Bochum. And in Ligue 1, it’s business as usual for PSG who continued their unbeaten start to the season in a 4-2 win over Angers. Not such smooth sailing for Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille, beaten 3-1 by newly promoted Auxerre at the Velodrome which prompted the former Brighton boss to say he’ll ‘leave the money and hand back my contract’. *** We’ve been nominated for Podcast of the Year at the 2024 Football Supporters’ Association Awards! Inter face Arsenal, Bayern hit 50 and are Ajax back?

Pol Ballús, Julien Laurens, Seb Stafford Bloor and James Horncastle are alongside Jimbo for your weekly dose of action from across the continent. We’ve reached the halfway stage of the Champions League league phase, with some tasty matchday four ties to preview including Inter v Arsenal, Liverpool v Leverkusen and PSG v Atléti. Domestically, it was a reduced schedule in Spain following the devastating flash floods in Valencia. We discuss the reaction to any football at all being played following the natural disaster - which included Barcelona's derby win over Espanyol. Napoli were stunned in their own backyard, handed a 3-0 defeat by Atalanta in Antonio Conte’s first defeat since his first game in charge. It means Inter are just a point off top spot in Serie A as they closed the gap thanks to a 1-0 victory over strugglers Venezia. In Ligue 1, PSG extended their lead to six points thanks to a narrow 1-0 win over Lens to maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign. After being unbeaten since April, it’s now back-to-back defeats for Monaco as Adi Hütter’s men slipped to third following their 1-0 defeat by Angers. And in the Bundesliga, Dortmund picked up a precious three points for beleaguered manager Nuri Şahin as they inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Leipzig. Bayern took full advantage, scoring goals for fun to move three points clear at the summit - while Leverkusen find themselves seven points off the pace after their goalless draw with Stuttgart. Plus, are Ajax finally back?! Michiel Jongsma joins us to reflect on Saturday’s 3-2 win over PSV - which moves Francesco Farioli’s side five points behind Eredivisie leaders Eindhoven with a game in hand. *** We’ve been nominated for Podcast of the Year at the 2024 Football Supporters’ Association Awards! Champions League Brilliance and Bedlam in Barcelona and the Bernabéu

There were two huge games between Spanish and German giants in the Champions League this week, so Musa and Ryan begin in Barcelona, where Hansi Flick performed a master class against his old side Bayern thanks to a Raphinha hat trick (02:19). The night before there was an equally enthralling game in Madrid, where Dortmund surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 5-2 to Real Madrid in the Bernabéu, where Vinícius Jr. took the plaudits and Nuri Sahin was left ruing a premature substitution (15:53). They then shout out some other results from match day three (27:19): Aston Villa is top of the Champions League, Liverpool is second only on goal difference, Lille completed a double over Madrid teams and the new format is maybe starting to heat up.
