The Planet FPL Gameweek Review returns as Suj and James discuss the nind games played so far in Gameweek 1 and it was a great weekend for many who attacked the opening weekend fixtures as several top players returned well and clean sheets were on the rise with Arsenal, Liverpool, the Manchester clubs and Newcastle all managing to keep out their opponents. There's tactical insight to the games and as usual a slant towards FPL thinking with much of the advice given that managers should hold their nerve on the majority of selections and that may even include one or two players who didn't start this weekend. And it was a big FPL week for James with four Tottenham in the team and a Bench Boost active. It went well, but is the good work about to be undone in Gameweek 2 with the proposed Wildcard now unlikely to be played? That would likely mean no Erling Haaland this weekend and possibly no Manchester City coverage at all! Tomorrow on Planet FPL: The People's Poll Podcast. Kelly Cates is joined by Jamie Redknapp, Micah Richards and Daniel Sturridge and they analyse Enzo Maresca’s first game in charge of Chelsea which ended in a 2-0 defeat against reigning champions Manchester City. After the game, Micah Richards questioned whether Nicolas Jackson is the ‘top striker’ Chelsea currently need after he missed a great chance to get on the scoresheet. There is also reaction from both goalscorers, Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic as well as Pep Guardiola, who said it is an honour to manage Manchester City. Enzo Maresca speaks with Pat Davison and was happy with the performance of his players but said they did not take the chances they created. Jonny Pringle joins James to discuss all things Manchester City and their FPL assets as they bid for a fifth successive Premier League title. But there's a growing number of neutrals who think this might not be their season. Obviously Erling Haaland is covered, Jonny's initial reaction to the 15.0 price was to consider going without, but following the weekend pre-season hat-trick against GW1 opponents Chelsea how does he feel now? There's debate on Kevin De Bruyne versus Phil Foden at 9.5, the exciting emergence of 5.0 Oscar Bobb and his likely minutes, whether Josko Gvardiol is an auto pick at 6.0 and if there are preferences or desires across the players priced at 5.5 in defence and 6.5 midfield. Plus, will the departing Julian Alvarez be replaced, if Ederson is expected to stay and if City may remain surprisingly quiet during this transfer window despite some feeling a refresh is required. It's a Correspondent Week debut for Ipswich Town and Paul Gaught-Allen, who joins James to discuss everything about last season's Championship runners-up, including Kieran McKenna's crucial decision to stay as manager and whether surviving this season is a realistic aim following back to back promotions. Paul details what we can expect from McKenna tactically and that includes an advanced role for 4.5 left-back Leif Davis who notched a record number of Championship assists for a defender last season. But with every other Town defender priced at 4.0 is Davis worth the extra? And who's best from those 4.0s? Omari Hutchinson has signed on a permanent deal from Chelsea and has interest at 5.5, but there may be other attacking talents that appeal more from within the club. There's an outline of the current anticipated starting eleven and where the club is likely to invest further in the team and squad plus there's discussion on FPL's two most expensive players, Mo Salah and Erling Haaland, who are set to play The Tractor Boys in the first two Gameweeks. Clayton and James discuss what we know so far as we await the imminent official launch of Fantasy Premier League 2024/25. Many player prices are already known; what's the thoughts on Erling Haaland being priced at £15.0m? It's the highest ever price for an FPL asset. Cole Palmer has been given the highest ever increase in price coming in at 10.5 but will remain a popular option. There's a run through of the player prices known so far, running from the premiums down to the budget enablers, discussing the players that stand out at each price point, which includes the one player James is very confident that he'll start with subject to fitness. There's notes on some early fixture swings and caution is given on those returning from the European Championship. Robbie Earle and Robbie Mustoe recap a pivotal Gameweek 35 in the Premier League
On the first of two Clash of the Correspondents this week James is joined by Brighton fan Sam Murray and Manchester City fan Jonny Pringle to discuss the latest at their clubs and the FPL assets of interest ahead of Thursday's meeting between the two clubs. Have Brighton stalled this season? Can they trouble City with a 12 day period to prepare? And how strong is concern that Roberto De Zerbi may move on in the summer? Man City have it in their own hands to claim the title again, but are they as strong now as they have been during previous title run-ins? Plus all the key FPL assets discussed from City, featuring concerns over Erling Haaland's form, Foden v De Bruyne, if Ederson can be relied on and best defensive assets. And has everyone forgotten that Brighton have their own Double coming up in GW37? Will the likes of Pascal Gross be wrongly overlooked? Could Joao Pedro solve the solutions for those in need of an enabling forward and are there defensive assets that should be considered? How about them plucky underdogs Real Madrid, eh? Marcus and Vish are on hand to react to a disastrous evening in Europe for the English sides. On a night which saw Erling Haaland subbed before extra time, Vish asks whether Man City had too many cooks and no one to eat the pudding. Clayton joins James for the Gameweek 33 review as there were big swings in the battle to finish first and fourth respectively after Liverpool and Arsenal both lost at home, with The Gunners beaten by Champions League chasing Aston Villa who are now favourites for fourth after Tottenham were dismantled at Newcastle. It was a difficult weekend for many FPL managers but those with Newcastle assets may have done particularly well and Erling Haaland returned well for captainers despite some fortune (or misfortune!) in his returns. All the games reviewed as usual with a focus very much on the forthcoming Double Gameweek that features Liverpool, Arsenal and a Crystal Palace team likely to get plenty of interest. Should managers also be looking at the 4 others team who double? And there's also a focus on the 6 teams who double in 37 and what Wildcarders may want to do in Gameweek 35. Jimbo is joined in the studio by Raphael Honigstein, Duncan Alexander and Tom Williams after some exhilarating Champions League quarter-finals. It was a midweek in which Bayern and Harry Kane turned up. Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe? Not so much. On this week's Sky Fantasy Football Podcast Suj and James ponder big moves for this coming Sunday with Arsenal and Liverpool assets high on agenda, but there's caution that whatever is bought may need to be sold again at a later date. Plus, it doesn't feel like the right weekend to gamble against on captaincy with Erling Haaland, Mo Salah and Cole Palmer likely to be popular. After two more wins, David Mooney is joined City fan Chris Higginbottom and One Football's Dan Burke to react to the victories over Manchester United and FC Copenhagen. There's a focus on Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, plus we put United's time-wasting under the spotlight... as the Etihad grew increasingly more frustrated as the game went on.Then it's the dreaded trip to Anfield... With Marcos Senesi now set to miss the double who is the best Bournemouth defensive option? Marcus Tavernier? Justin Kluivert or an alternative midfielder? Do alternative options at Luton such as Alfie Doughty and Ross Barkley offer more reliability than the Bournemouth options? Can any of the Luton enablers be trusted? And can selling Erling Haaland for Carlton Morris really be considered for those not Free Hitting in GW29? Suj and James review the 9 weekend games played in GW24 and for both Arsenal's 6-0 victory against West Ham meant it was a bad FPL week as Gunners assets returned well with Gabriel benched and in James' case Bukayo Saka sold! But it was of course it was Suj's team that suffered a record home league defeat. Captaining Erling Haaland at least brought some relief, but City did struggle to break down a resolute Everton. City assets are obviously on radar as are those who also double at Brentford, Liverpool and Luton and final decisions ahead of the double may well be impacted by the status of Trent Alexander-Arnold's fitness. There's tactical insight into Arsenal's stunning victory, Kieran Trippier's role change for Newcastle at Forest that freed up Bruno Guimaraes, how Brighton's man to man game at Tottenham had success but ultimately cost them the game in which a returning player from International duty hugely impressed James. Kylian Mbappe on Real Madrid's plan 'every single day' with Los Blancos stars expecting his entry in blockbuster move from PSG On Monday, Football journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed that agents of Kylian Mbappe and the Real Madrid board are arranging a move under strict mystery, but with the authorization of PSG. On Tuesday, an ambassador and ex PSG player Laure Boulleau, claims that Mbappe's move to Los Blancos could be a deal. It is anticipated that within the coming days Mbappe will affirm that he will not stay with Paris Saint-Germain, a articulation that would certainly open the entryways for his marking with Los Blancos. Boulleau has expressed that, inside the club, PSG have affirmed his flight: "We have the impression that we have as of now lived this cleanser opera. In past a long time I didn't get as well much data, but presently I've been told that his marking for Madrid could be a bargain. I tell myself that there's a plausibility that he may reestablish," said the previous France international on 'Canal Football Club'. In expansion, Boulleau commented that Mbappe "moreover loves his club and has regard for it", so he advocates "holding up for his choice as grown-ups". In this respect Fabrizio Romano expressed that Mbappe would to begin with got to communicate his choice, actually, to Nasser Al-Khelaifi. But at the minute, there's no official report marked with Real Madrid, with Paris Saint-Germain or with any other team. The Real Madrid dressing room has supposedly arranged for the entry of Kylian Mbappe with the forward set to create a long-awaited La Liga switch Mbappe is set to form a long-expected move to Madrid, two a long time after making a stun u-turn, and spurning the opportunity to move to the Spanish club. This time, the club have genuine certainty that the France captain will play at the Santiago Bernabeu following season, concurring to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The Madrid dressing room is energetically anticipating Mbappe's entry: "In the dressing room of Real Madrid, critical players have the feeling that yes, this time, the club is reaching to make it happen... each single day they talk around Kylian Mbappe, and the feeling they have this time is that it's truly, truly close." Mbappe may have communicated his intrigued in joining Madrid, but there are still a number of barricades to be navigated. PSG will supposedly need to gather a few kind of expense for his takeoff, whereas Los Blancos are anticipated to pay a strong marking reward to make the bargain happen. Despite the conversation, Mbappe has vowed to play out the rest of the season for the Parisians. They are right now beat of Ligue 1, and are set to play Real Sociedad within the Champions League last 16 in mid-February. Los Blancos, in the interim, are La Liga top picks, and seem open up a persuading lead on the table with a win over Girona this week. Los Blancos haven't been perplexed to sprinkle money in a long time gone by, but a free exchange for a World Cup-winning, generational ability would be the foremost stunning bargain of the final decade. Conceivably indeed in football history. Indeed in the event that those compensation were astronomical—and ESPN is announcing he will take a 50 percent pay cut to beauty the Santiago Bernabéu with his abilities—it would still be a steal. The CIES Football Observatory's information has Mbappé's move esteem at about $115 million (€106.2 million) in its January 2024 discharge of the foremost costly players in football, even with an lapsing contract. Transfermarkt, in the mean time, records him as the foremost profitable player in world football nearby Jude Bellingham and Erling Haaland at over $194 million (€180 million). And Real are getting him for nothing. Zero euros. As distant as deals go, this one appears distant as well great to be true. La Liga isn't brief of ability. Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Robert Lewandowski, Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, Antoine Griezmann and Rodrygo are fair a few of the names competent of snatching features each week. But after Lionel Messi cleared out Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo left Genuine Madrid, there has been a particular need of genius in Spain's top tier. Bellingham has been outstanding, there's no contention there, whereas Vinicius is undoubtedly incredible and Lewandowski can still wonder indeed at 35 a long time old. But Mbappé is in his prime, and features a World Container title to his title (and two appearances in the tournament's last). He's been bamboozling guards all closes up for the best portion of the past 10 years. This is an extraordinary expansion to a association that woefully misses two players who won Ballons d'Or from 2008 to 2017. Mbappé hasn't put his name on that illustrious list just yet, but a grander stage in a higher-profile league might just allow him to etch his name within the of football legend. Paris Saint-Germain gradually built itself up as a destination for the world's top talent from the early 2010s, with Zlatan Ibrahimović's arrival in 2012 accelerating its status. But, with Mbappé reportedly on his way out, none of those players will be around next season, and no one else within the squad can boast the kind of allure that any of those names provided. With that, the quest for an elusive Champions League title seems further away than it has for over a decade, and the club's ability to draw in truly world-class talent will be severely affected. Meanwhile, Ligue 1 will be much less appealing to the casual viewer, impacting its standing within the game and likely reducing its revenue.

This is the one we’ve all been waiting for – an in-depth official podcast episode with star striker Erling Haaland. Haaland has been a revelation since joining the Club at the start of the 2022/23 season, a campaign like no other in City history as we won the Treble. The fab forward was a driving force in these remarkable achievements, as he smashed a host of individual records. He scored the most Premier League goals in one season with 36 and the most goals in all competitions by a player at a Premier League club with a whopping 52. He won the Premier League Golden Boot, City's first European Golden Shoe, Premier League Player of the Season, Premier League Young Player of the Season, FWA Men’s Footballer of the Year, UEFA Men’s Player of the Year, the Ballon d’Or Gerd Muller Trophy as well as finishing runner-up in the main Ballon d’Or competition. Despite missing five games so far in the Premier League across 2023/24 through injury, he still sits as No.1 in the scoring charts with 14 goals, alongside Liverpool Mo Salah. In this fascinating podcast, he chats with hosts Rob Pollard and Nedum Onuoha about his initial hopes on joining City, his impressions of the dressing room atmosphere, his thoughts on the Premier League, his debut season and the personal pressure he felt on arriving at the Etihad. He also discusses our ‘unreal’ Treble, how he thinks he can improve, his belief in Pep Guardiola, his insistence on football as a team sport, the influence of his dad Alfie, his diet and his aspirations with Norway. With less than 24 hours to go before the GW23 Deadline Suj and James discuss all the games from Gameweek 22 and the hours that built up to it that included late transfers and late captaincy changes. There was plenty of drama to discuss as Newcastle became the first to win at Villa this season, Luton gave Brighton a hiding, Tottenham got into trouble but rectified it against Brentford and Manchester United won a 7 goal thriller at Wolves. While there were wins for the 3 title challengers and with Arsenal facing Liverpool this weekend it means interest in Manchester City, with their double in Gameweek 25 to come, particularly high. Should those who haven't bought Erling Haaland do so now or is it a case of waiting another week? And what of Liverpool's possible Gameweek 25 double, should we now be of the thinking that it won't happen?
