Liverpool have been urged to pursue the audacious signing of a Chelsea player to upgrade Arne Slot’s defensive options.

Which players will make the cut for Thomas Tuchel's 2026 World Cup England squad? The post Foden Axed: The Players From England’s 35-Man Squad Who Will Make The World Cup Cut appeared first on Attacking Football.

Suj and James fared very differently again in FPL in GW27 as clean sheets were bust, well owned players flopped but one hauler for James in Nico O'Reilly made the difference; but there is no doubt as James even concedes, that there was big slice of luck that he even still owned him. That was the highlight of a weekend for James, which ended with another North London Derby humbling as Tottenham continue to look nervously over their shoulder at West Ham and Nottingham Forest, who both failed to score but were unlucky to do so. There's a much promised look at Rayan and comparison to other midfielders in a similiar price bracket. Bournemouth along with Brentford, Fulham and Liverpool assets are likely to be popular this week, should Arsenal players be binned despite Sunday's comfortable win, Chelsea's brilliant fixture run is over and they slipped up against Burnley, should their assets including the in-form Joao Pedro be moved on too? All the games covered, the OOP not called O'Reilly catching the eye despite a blank and lots more... Suj took the spoils over James in the Planet FPL Derby and to say the mood is now toxic at Tottenham Hotspur would be putting it mildly. Yet, somehow, Thomas Frank remains in charge, for now... And so to too does Oliver Glasner despite the Crystal Palace manager suggesting that he's been left abandoned by the hierarchy at The Eagles. At least there was some great football this weekend to enjoy... no not much of that either... but there's plenty of praise for Manchester United who fully deserved to beat neighbours City. All the games covered, plus all the key FPL discussion as usual, featuring the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Bukayo Saka, Chelsea and Man City assets, Morgan Rogers, Hugo Ekitike and more... It was a weekend from the Gods for James in FPL, in his own words, his best ever Gameweek, with 17 pointers from Malick Thiaw, Declan Rice and Igor Thiago helping him to a monstrous 101 points, and a near 90% rank rise to 31k with a Gameweek rank of 200 overall! But while it was the stuff of dreams for James; Suj scored 60 points less in an incredible week of swings! But one thing both can count on is crap from their respective teams, as West Ham were humbled 3-0 at a previously winless Wolves, whilst Sunderland took a point away from White Hart Lane. All the games covered as usual, there's tips and plans for GW21, the importance of looking longer-term and the Podcast is interrupted by breaking news of Ruben Amorim's dismissal by Manchester United! David Forde is with us this week. For a bloke who has quit playing football countless times Forde managed to carve out a great career and cement himself as a Millwall legend. Forde has suffered with performance anxiety for large parts of his career and often found himself skipping training to travel to India to practice meditation to help him battle this and find a new form of focus. After getting a 2 week fine while playing in the Welsh league Forde was ready to quit football and move back to Ireland but in a very quick U-turn he got a move to West Ham and was training with his hero David James. In a career spanning across 20 years Forde has had his fair share of encounters with mavericks including Martin Allen, Di Canio & Stephen Bywater. While at Millwall he saw everything a Millwall legend would have; promotions, relegations, fights, smoking cigars at Wembley after winning in the play-offs and of course the elbow Jermaine Beckford. On the Gameweek 5 Review Suj and James discuss all the games from the weekend and it was a particularly painful one for James following defeat in the North London Derby. Discussion on Arsenal's victory and how they overcame the absence of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. But it wasn't all bad news for James in FPL as Ollie Watkins matched another Erling Haaland haul and it was another successful weekend for Suj who included Gabriel in his starting eleven. Plus, for many Wildcarders there may be regret as Liverpool assets flopped in a surprise defeat to Nottingham Forest and a theme of this week's review is a hunt for decent forward options. An Oasis of joy for Erling Haaland Captainers and Triple Captainers as the big man took home the match ball on Saturday and he wasn't the only hat-trick scorer this weekend as Noni Madueke also hit a treble - all assisted by cold Cole Palmer - as The Blues scored six at Wolves. Suj and James review all the weekend games from Gameweek 2 which saw a continuation of clean sheets which even remarkably featured Tottenham and West Ham keeping the door locked. But it was cleans for Arsenal and Liverpool that helped a Haaland-less James survive the week. There's insight into some of the weekend tactics including Tottenham's very offensive setup, Newcastle concern and why Kevin De Bruyne needs close monitoring. And now James in on Wildcard, with thoughts given on the players under consideration, while Suj has some issues to deal with, such as Christopher Nkunku and Lewis Hall, but he might not panic. Or he might. Some Might Say. Many England fans would have been ready for this, a sub-par performance and points dropped in the Group. So why does it still feel so bad!? Suj and James discuss being here before but why yesterday's draw with Denmark feels worse for England than previous draws at major tournaments, and there's search for how to fix the clear problems The Three Lions are having. It didn't help that England's showing was followed by Spain putting in a super performance against reigning Champions Italy either.
