Chelsea correspondent Gary Mantle joins James to discuss a dramatic couple of weeks at Stamford Bridge with an excellent finish to the Premier League season was followed by the shocking departure of Mauricio Pochettino and the appointment of Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca. There's discussion on whether the Pochettino departure really was by 'mutual consent' and fan sentiment towards the decision and the former Tottenham manager. The feeling towards the appointment of Enzo Maresca and what we can expect from The Championship winning manager. Plus the Podcast as a repetitive theme of asking what is it that Chelsea really want? Is it immediate success or a longer term vision? And who really is making the football decisions... and do they know what they're doing!? Suj and James discuss the current mood around England following Friday night's dismal Friendly defeat to Iceland at Wembley that has dampened expectations of England fans. But should we read too much into the result and performance? There's coverage of Gareth Southgate's final squad selections, including the admissions of Jarrad Branthwaite and Jack Grealish. And there's debate on the likely starting eleven for the Serbia game on Sunday and James suspects it may surprise. Coverage of the left-back problem, the solutions to finding the best midfield partner for Declan Rice, if Phil Foden should start on the left and plenty more including the tabloid reaction to Friday, England's problem with the press, but why Jude Bellingham's return will help fix it. Clayton joins James for a discussion on all things England following last night's 3-0 victory against Bosnia And Herzegovina that ended well but frustrated for long periods. What's the best eleven now? It feels like there are probably 3 spots up for grabs in Gareth Southgate's ideal line-up; left-back remains a concern with continuing question marks over Luke Shaw's fitness, who will partner Declan Rice in midfield appears up for grabs and will it be Phil Foden on the left or someone else? And who makes the final 26 man squad now? Which 7 will be cut and what was learned last night that means there might be some unexpected names that make the final cut? You wait over 150 years for an all-Manchester FA Cup Final and then two come along in succession. James is joined by Manchester City fan Jonny Pringle and Manchester United fan Gary Robinson to preview tomorrow's FA Cup Final. Will it stop City getting the credit their fans feel they deserve? Will Erik Ten Hag make it through the weekend? It's a Planet FPL Correspondent debut for Ipswich Town fan Paul Gaught-Allen as he joins James for a chat on all things The Tractor Boys following their back to back promotions to the Premier League. There's discussion on the history of the club and previous successes, the club's previous spells in the Premier League in the nineties and noughties which had highs before falls ahead of 'twenty years of decay' which saw Ipswich fall as low as mid-table in League One. But two key changes, firstly through new ownership and then the appointment of Kieran McKenna began upward trajectory back to the top flight. But will the manager still be in charge come August!? For the final Premier League Clash of the Correspondents James welcomes Sheffield United fan Ben 'Tommo' Thompson and Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Sunday's final day meeting at Bramall Lane. For The Blades it's been a season of struggles with 101 goals conceded. Is there hope for next season or fear that another season of struggle awaits in The Championship with several players out of contract and loanees unlikely to be bought? And how is the season viewed for Tottenham now? A spectacular start has now become a flat finish but did the season still go beyond expectations? And what's the view now on Ange Postecoglu? On the penultimate Planet FPL Gameweek review Podcast of the season Suj and James discuss the four games played since Monday that saw Aston Villa claim a point against Liverpool despite being 3-1 down, Manchester City going back top after beating a spirited Tottenham in a unique atmosphere in North London and Chelsea look favourites for a Europa League place after beating Brighton whilst Newcastle were beaten at Manchester United and there's a heated debate about Erik Ten Hag's future. There's a heavy focus on players to but in Gameweek 38 which includes discussion on players to buy to protect position, who's looking popular and some big differentials to consider. Plus, Reece James red cards per inute vs Christopher Nkunku's goals per minutes checked, Tottenham's tactical tweaks and why they troubled City in detail and why the Podcast has this stupid title! On the Sky Fantasy Football Podcast Suj and James discuss the key talking points ahead of the final two gamedays, but is there anywhere to go tonight for those lucky enough to still have transfers in hand? Or should there be patience for final day assets? There's coverage of the four teams playing tonight and the differentials who could go big on Sunday, why picking your battles on captaincy is important and James reasons why in his situation there's no reason to go against in his situation, but for Suj - who has actually used his transfers - there's reason to seek punts with his captaincy picks. Plus, there's a philosophical take on the mental side of Sky versus FPL, data scrape from the games played this week, listener questions covered and thoughts begin to turn to next season. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Burnley fan Jack Toner and Nottingham Forest fan Mark Sutherns to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Sunday's final day meeting at Turf Moor. For Burnley, relegation was confirmed following defeat at Tottenham and it's felt like an inevitability for some time but the club has kept faith with manager Vincent Kompany and their inexperienced squad should be in a good position to challenge to come straight back... or is there reason for concern? Forest are safe, bar an unlikely 12 goal swing on final day. But it has been a bad season and their safety is only due to the inability of the three teams below. What's gone wrong? And what are the club likely to do next? Could key players depart? And will Nuno Espirito Santo be kept on? Plus, goals are expected when the two clubs meet on Sunday, so should FPL managers look at enablers such as Jacob Braun Larsen or Callum Hudson-Odoi as a source for points in Gameweek 38? On the weekend Review of Gameweek 37 Suj and James discuss all the games from the weekend which included confirmation of Burnley's relegation and Luton Town will almost certainly be joining them; while Manchester City and Arsenal both won to nil to confirm that the title race will go to the final day, but how James' Tottenham do against City tomorrow is likely to be decisive. But do Tottenham even want to win!? Bench Boosters have mainly done well, clean sheets for Arsenal and Everton have helped but there was pain for owners of Bruno Fernandes and Callum Wilson owners after their weekend no-shows. Plus, there's a focus on one week punts for Sunday's finale, and that may include interest in a Crystal Palace team who are in red hot form. They won again at Wolves, who themselves travel to Anfield on final day and Liverpool assets may well be of interest too subject to what we see at Villa Park tonight. And there's plenty more too consider from others too! James is joined by West Ham fan Chris Stone and Luton fan Dan Ashby on Clash of the Correspondents to discuss the latest at their clubs and preview Saturday's meeting in East London. It's been a dramatic week for The Hammers, a 5-0 beating at Chelsea was followed by the news that David Moyes will leave the club at the end of this season with former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui widely being reported to be his replacement. There's discussion on Moyes' tenure and the potential new boss. The Hatters meanwhile are three points from safety with two to play and the decision that Nottingham Forest's points deduction will stand means there is still hope, but two wins will probably be needed. Can they get the win they need against a West Ham team that has only won 3 league games in 2024? For the Red Devils morale appears to be on the floor following Monday's heavy loss at Crystal Palace with some now suggesting Erik Ten Hag shouldn't even make it as far as the Manchester FA Cup Final. Can The Dutchman stay in the job into next season? There's discussion on Manchester United's attempts to take Newcastle's Sporting Director Dan Ashworth and if it signals any concerns about Newcastle's longer-term plan. Is there also a need to sell one of their star players to comply with PSR? Plus, all the key FPL assets discussed, including thoughts on Bruno Fernandes' injury status, whether Alexander Isak is a legitimate captaincy option, the impact of Callum Wilson's return, best defensive assets from both clubs, whether Nick pope and Kieran Trippier are likely to start on Saturday and lots more... James is joined by Leicester City correspondent Aaron Lagor following the Foxes crowning as Championship Champions that means they will be making an immediate return to the Premier League under the stewardship of Enzo Maresca. There's discussion on how The Foxes did it, Maresca's philosophy and tactics which naturally has parallels with that of Pep Guardiola, whom Maresca was previously assistant to at Manchester City. There's an overview of the squad which includes some early thoughts on who may appeal to FPL managers next season and that could include the Championship goalkeeper of the season, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and a 37 year-old Jamie Vardy who is still going strong. But there are concerns, with the season rumoured to be set to begin with a points deduction due to failures to meet PSR requirements and therefore spending may be limited and sales shouldn't necessarily be ruled out either. Clayton joins James for a discussion on the state of refereeing in the Premier League and what can be to do improve standards the many believe have hit an all time low. But is it really that bad? What does good refereeing look like? What do we as fans actually want most, is it accuracy or is it something else? There's discussion on if VAR has actually hindered the quality of our referees and what fans actually want from the use of technology. And solutions are offered to what should be done to assist referees going forwards, which features discussion on releasing audio, getting refs mic'd up, the Wenger law, decision challenges, removing the 'high bar', and what can be done to make officiating attractive and rewarding. Suj and James review the weekend of Gameweek 35 and for many Wildcarders it wasn't the success that many had hoped for (so far), particularly with Arsenal's Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka returning well in Arsenal's North London Derby victory that has left James with a sore throat. And it was a strange game that features in the discussion from all the games. As usual all the games covered including Chelsea's excellent display at Villa that yielded only a point and Manchester City overcame a period of difficulty to maintain their advantage in the race for the title that also left Forest looking nervously over their shoulder at not just Luton, but now Burnley as well. FPL assets for one week, two weeks and all weeks considered which includes those required for just 36 and 38 which may bring a number of enabling differential forwards to the table that Bench Boosters won't consider. Plus, best Arsenal assets covered, injuries have inevitably struck again and James discusses the awkward feeling for Tottenham fans in Gameweek 37 when Manchester City visit. And it is likely to have Fantasy consequences! Suj and James review the 6 games played in midweek as Arsenal and Manchester City went big in their pursuit of the title but Liverpool's attempt to keep pace hits the skids in the Merseyside Derby at Everton. Now focus turns from Free Hit 34 to Wildcard 35 with Suj (probably) and James both on Wildcard. On the Podcast there's a big lean in the discussion to covering FPL assets from the teams who played in midweek which features 5 of the 6 teams who have a Double in GW37 and whether assets from the likes of Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Everton and Liverpool should go alongside them for the run-in. James also gives a detailed view on Tottenham assets who have two upcoming doubles before revealing his intended Wildcard (subject to team news) and there's one player he's desperate to have but isn't likely to fit in. On Clash of the Correspondents it's a focus on the only two teams who double in Gameweek 35 as James is joined by Chelsea fan Gary Mantle and Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders to discuss the latest at their clubs and talk about the best FPL assets from each club with many Wildcarders this week look to load up with 3 from each ahead of their two double gameweeks in 35 and 37. But neither are in good form! A Chelsea without Cole Palmer were destroyed 5-0 at Arsenal on Tuesday night and it wasn't much better for Tottenham who lost 4-0 at Newcastle 12 days ago. There's discussion on Mauricio Pochettino's future and whether defeat to rivals Tottenham next week could see the process begin for a change in the dugout. While some frustrations are beginning to creep in to the mindset of Tottenham fans and there is trepidation ahead of Sunday's North London Derby. Plus, best FPL assets discussed. Cole Palmer will be a certainty for most and so to will Heung-Min Son despite form concerns. But who else should FPL managers be investing in? Or, should they just be avoiding altogether!? Suj rejoins James for the Sky Fantasy Football Podcast ahead of another big night of moves where differentials will be purchased - but will they actually be differentials? Manchester United and Newcastle assets could become popular quickly and James reveals the 3 he intends to buy, it's only 3 as there was a stroke of luck when forced into a move on Sunday and one more needs to be saved for Manchester City tomorrow. But will Suj actually make the transfers he wants with a whopping 16 left and sights set on the top 1000, whilst for James entry into the top 100 has been achieved. How high could he finish? On the first of two Clash of the Correspondents this week James is joined by Brighton fan Sam Murray and Manchester City fan Jonny Pringle to discuss the latest at their clubs and the FPL assets of interest ahead of Thursday's meeting between the two clubs. Have Brighton stalled this season? Can they trouble City with a 12 day period to prepare? And how strong is concern that Roberto De Zerbi may move on in the summer? Man City have it in their own hands to claim the title again, but are they as strong now as they have been during previous title run-ins? Plus all the key FPL assets discussed from City, featuring concerns over Erling Haaland's form, Foden v De Bruyne, if Ederson can be relied on and best defensive assets. And has everyone forgotten that Brighton have their own Double coming up in GW37? Will the likes of Pascal Gross be wrongly overlooked? Could Joao Pedro solve the solutions for those in need of an enabling forward and are there defensive assets that should be considered? On the weekend review of DGW34 Suj returns to join James to discuss the 7 games played so far and for those who took the plunge on Crystal Palace attacking assets it was likely a good weekend with all of Eze, Olise and Mateta returning well. Arsenal and Everton defensive assets also returned well but there was large rotation for Liverpool in their victory at Fulham with Trent Alexander-Arnold being the one that got away for James. But at least he did have decent coverage of Palace, unlikely a certain someone... All the games discussed with thoughts already focusing beyond the rest of this double Gameweek and towards the final 4 weeks, which particular for James means thinking beyond just the 6 clubs who double in Gameweek 37. But those 6 will still make up the majority of slots for Wildcarders but are there any good defensive assets to pick from!? Plus, more VAR controversy, especially at Goodison which led to a stinging and unusual response from Forest, thoughts from the FA Cup semi finals including the heartbreaking near miss for Coventry against Manchester United and Suj reveals that he's leaving the country, permanently. James is joined by Wolves fan Bradley Parker and Bournemouth fan Neil Grover on Clash of the Correspondents with the two sides set to face off at Molineux as part of Double Gameweek 34 and there will be plenty of interest in FPL assets from both clubs, particularly from those on a Free Hit. But do the two teams have anything to play for? The key talismen, Matheus Cunha and Dominic Solanke are discussed and there are pros and cons covered about the week ahead for both forwards. Attacking and enabling alternatives from both clubs may well go under the radar such as Pablo Sarabia and Justin Kluivert, though per haps they shouldn't. And what can be expected from a returning Hwang Hee-Chan? Many FPL managers will be awaiting key news on Wolves OOP defender Rayan Ait-Nouri, but will he even remain as part of an attacking front 3 if fit, and is he even the best OOP left footed defender for the week ahead from these two clubs? Clayton joins James for the Gameweek 33 review as there were big swings in the battle to finish first and fourth respectively after Liverpool and Arsenal both lost at home, with The Gunners beaten by Champions League chasing Aston Villa who are now favourites for fourth after Tottenham were dismantled at Newcastle. It was a difficult weekend for many FPL managers but those with Newcastle assets may have done particularly well and Erling Haaland returned well for captainers despite some fortune (or misfortune!) in his returns. All the games reviewed as usual with a focus very much on the forthcoming Double Gameweek that features Liverpool, Arsenal and a Crystal Palace team likely to get plenty of interest. Should managers also be looking at the 4 others team who double? And there's also a focus on the 6 teams who double in 37 and what Wildcarders may want to do in Gameweek 35. On this week's Sky Fantasy Football Podcast Suj and James ponder big moves for this coming Sunday with Arsenal and Liverpool assets high on agenda, but there's caution that whatever is bought may need to be sold again at a later date. Suj and James review all the Premier League games from Gameweek 32 with all the Fantasy relevant conversation as Arsenal went back in front on goal difference (much to James' annoyance) in the title race after their dominant win at Brighton and Liverpool failed to convert first half dominance as they dropped two points at Manchester United. While Man City aren't going away and are only a point behind after Kevin De Bruyne starred in their 4-2 victory at Crystal Palace. Within the review of the games there's discussion on one week punts for the FH34 WC35 crowd, assets to carry through who double in 34 or 37 and why we shouldn't neccessarily overlook those who don't double in either with Brentford perhaps the standout from that perspective. Plus, the impact of the Chelsea-Tottenham fixture now going into GW35 and the difficulty of transitioning from 34 to 35/37, captaincy for upcoming gameweeks and lots more. Clayton joins James to discuss all the midweek action from GW31 that ended with big drama at Stamford Bridge as Cole Palmer's hat-trick saw him match Phil Foden's 20 point haul from the night before. James own both but still got a red arrow! It was also a midweek full of captaincy fails with no shows for Erling Haaland and Bukayo Saka whilst Mo Salah returned a 1 pointer after being subbed in the 59th minute! There's discussion on weekend captaincy for GW32 but with Heung-Min Son also likely to be an option along with those previously mentioned and James ponders a move for a Goalkeeper. As usual all the games reviewed with all the relevant FPL chat on each team and there's a very different intro to normal as the lads went back to record again as upon conclusion of the Podcast the Premier League surprising announced that Chelsea and Tottenham will play their rearranged game in Gameweek 35 rather than 36. On Clash of the Correspondents it's a meeting of the black and whites as James is joined by Fulham fan Dara Curran and Newcastle fan Simon Bibby to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of Saturday's meeting at Craven Cottage. Both clubs have had troubles on the road this season as seen again this week with Fulham, who followed some brilliant victories by conceding six across two games at Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest. So they'll be pleased to be at home this weekend against a Newcastle side who have also struggled on the road. Does that mean a home win is likely with the Fulham frontline likely to be spearheaded again by the in-form Rodrigo Muniz against a Newcastle side that is again suffering through injuries defensively? There's discussion on the FPL relevant assets of interest including Muniz and other Fulham players that managers may own, plus the all important Newcastle assets who have a great run of fixtures that leads towards their double in the penultimate gameweek of 37. It's a late Sunday night Podcast for Suj and James to discuss all the fallout from Gameweek 30 ahead of the quick turnaround for Tuesday's Gameweek 31 deadline. There's discussion on the drab Man City-Arsenal encounter that means it's now advantage Liverpool in the title race following their victory against Brighton. There's rage at West Ham's defeat at Newcastle having led 3-1, Tottenham came from behind again to beat a spirited Luton, how a bright start for Wolves fizzled out at Villa and somehow Brentford nearly lost despite dominating Manchester United. There's FPL relevant discussion on every club with many managers planning their routes towards either Gameweek 34 or 37 but many may be hampered again by a sea of flags and that includes to popular Chelsea and Newcastle assets that may make life difficult for current Wildcarders. And it was such a good week for Suj that James looks set to copy his moves for GW31 in a bid to captain Mo Salah. Tuesday on Planet FPL: *NOT* The GW31 Deadline Stream, Live stream at 12pm GMT. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Nottingham Forest fan Mark Sutherns and Crystal Palace fan Ruaidhri McLoughlin-Dowd to discuss all the latest at their clubs ahead of Saturday's crunch GW30 meeting at The City Ground. Forest now find themselves in the relegation zone following their 4 point deduction, there's chat on Forest's decision to appeal and what the club needs over their very important home games coming up to get themselves out of trouble. Palace aren't quite safe but probably only need a handful of points, but it is a daunting remaining fixture list. Discussion on the club includes chat on the switch of system to a 3-4-2-1 under new boss Oliver Glasner. Plus, FPL chat. Those who carried through the blank gameweek may well have punted a few Forest assets such as Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Elanga. Should FPL managers stick or twist? Forest assets may also appeal at the end for those Free Hitting in GW37, there's an explainer of why and alternatively Palace assets such as Ebe Eze and a soon-to-be-fit Michael Olise will definitely appeal to the group who will Free Hit in GW34. And there are others worth considering too... Suj and James discuss all the latest for Sky Fantasy Football and that includes the key information on the latest TV selections for the end of April and with Tottenham now not given a fixture in the midweek set of fixtures there are several teams that have 3 for 0s that might even be 4 for 0 over the North London club. Arsenal and Liverpool will appeal to Sky managers over that period but James is also keen to make the case for Manchester United and Newcastle assets who will currently be lowly owned. Plus, exit points not just for Tottenham assets but the likes of Ollie Watkins and Dominic Solanke covered, planned captaincy and transfer thoughts for the week ahead are also discussed and listener questions debated. Clayton joins James for a discussion on what goes into arranging fixtures in the Premier League and the influence of TV companies that often leaves match going fans unhappy. Who's involved in moving a fixture to a particular date and time? Why do fans get so angry about delayed movements of fixtures? And there's discussion on the battle between the rival TV companies and how their eagerness to stitch each other up leads to fans losing out, including those watching on TV and there's strong views on why fixtures with permutations on further possible movements must stop. With the fixtures confirmed for Double Gameweek 34 on Saturday morning Suj and James cover one more time strategy for Chip usage for the rest of the season. And for James there is now clarity of what's best for him, but will Suj follow and do the same? However, not everything is clear. Tottenham have strangely been left with a blank in Gameweek 34 and it does raise the possibility of a Treble Gameweek in 37 for Tottenham and possibly Chelsea too! That won't happen though, will it? Teams are broken into 3 groups, those who won't double, those who double in 34 and those who double in 37. There's coverage of every club and when they will or won't be of interest and solutions offered for those with all chips left and for those struggling with what they have. Bench Boost 34 v 37 covered, so to is Haaland v Salah and why some will be using all their chips in 4 consecutive gameweeks near the end. Play It Your Way. On James' live stream, Mo Salah and Cole Palmer are likley to be popular ahead of GW30, if Heung-Min Son is likely to head back out on the left-wing and lots of strategy questions about chip usage which includes an update from James on changes to the double gameweek fixture projections and why GW35 Wildcarders may now have a big advantage at the season's conclusion. Everyone's favourite Mum and son duo, West Bromwich Albion correspondent's Gemma and Harrison Eno, join James for a catch up on what's been happening at The Hawthorns over the last 18 months and discuss the current race for promotion from The Championship. The Baggies are currently 5th and though automatic promotion looks out of reach they are performing well under the much liked Carlos Corberan and are highly likely to compete for promotion in the Play-Offs. But is hasn't always looked so positive for the club in recent times. There's reflection on the tenure's of Valerien Ismael and Steve Bruce and discussion on the concerning ownership problems under Guochuan Lai, but again there's positivity following the purchase of the club by Shilen Patel. The quality of the squad is assessed, would it be Premier League ready considering its recent financial concerns and there's chat on the frontrunners for automatic promotion. Plus, there's chat on the unsavoury scenes seen at The Hawthorns in January, when the FA Cup tie with Wolves was suspended for 30 minutes due to crowd disturbances. On the Sky Fantasy Football Podcast there's plenty to discuss for Suj and James despite a largely irrelevant weekend for Sky Fantasy managers and that includes when to sell the underwhelming assets who have just played, but with cautious notes, particularly around the likes of Ollie Watkins who may have future single game days that we can't currently see. There's chat around making gains before and after FA Cup Semi Final weekend with 3 games getting moved back, the 4 teams who managers will target over the next couple of weeks, there's an update on top 1000 ownership and the team of 2024 so far. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Chelsea fan Gary Mantle and Burnley fan Jack Toner to discuss all the latest at their clubs and relevant Fantasy assets ahead of the GW30 meeting at Stamford Bridge. For Chelsea one step forward seems to often be followed by one step back (or visa versa) under Mauricio Pochettino. What's the current fan sentiment towards the former Tottenham boss? Has Vincent Kompany been lucky to hold on to his job at Turf Moor under a run of sub par results that ended with Saturday's win against Brentford. Could The Clarets yet pull off a miraculous escape? Plus, selection dilemmas and best Fantasy assets. Many on Wildcard will be tempted by having 3 Chelsea assets. Cole Palmer would one, but can Mal Gusto be relied upon long-term as a second choice? But where should Fantasy managers look for the third choice? And is there anything at Burnley we're overlooking? Could a returning Lyle Foster have an impact? Suj and James discuss the disaster of probably the worst Blank Gameweek ever as no player owned by over 20% in the top 100,000 FPL managers returned! And there's chat on Double Gameweek projections following the conclusion of the weekend's FA Cup Quarter Finals, where victories for Coventry and Manchester United mean the landscape of expectations will change again! All the games of the disaster blank, including why despite defeat Brentford should't necesserily be overlooked for the run-in and similar applies to Fulham assets who were part of a thumping win against James' Tottenham. A blip or something more concerning for Heung-Min Son and co to contend with? Plus, James runs through his new double gameweek projections, and it's very much a 50-50 split for where the games could go and a battle over TV rights and when one particular game is shown, is likely to define what goes where between Gameweeks 34 and 37.
