Ten Hag Gone. Amorim Next? | The Fan View with Gary Robinson | Planet FPL 2024/25

Following Monday's announcement of the parting of the ways between Manchester United and Erik Ten Hag, James welcomes Manchester United fan Gary Robinson to discuss the The Dutchman's tenure and what lies ahead for The Red Devils. There's coverage of where it will went wrong for Ten Hag and whether he will be remembered well having won trophies in his two full seasons and what can be expected next for United, with it looking highly likely that Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim will take the job. What can be expected tactically from the Portuguese manager. And there's question asked of the playing squad, who many will feel have underperformed for a manager again; a target of winning the Premier League in 2028, and what the current changes mean in the immediate for Fantasy Football Managers. Nine Times Out Of Ten | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 18 | GW9 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Suj and James discuss all the weekend GW9 games as James hit gold with Bryan Mbeumo captaincy to take on Erling Haaland who despite some very big chances only scored once against Southampton - and now with Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah all scoring yesterday, some may be getting twitchy as to the value of the £15.4m forward. But Suj isn't pulling the plug just yet and despite some concern on social media didn't miss the deadline in a week where he also scored well. Lots of FPL assets are on radar with many enabling forwards appealing and there are concerns for some popular players like Gabriel and Dwight McNeil who may have picked up injuries. But the Podcast begins with an extended intro and the news that filtered through just after recording had concluded of Manchester United's decision to sack their manager! And thus, Gameweek NINE was to prove to be the the end for Erik TEN Hag Tomorrow on Planet FPL: Clash of the Correspondents, Ipswich Town v Leicester City with Paul Gaught-Allen and Aaron Lagor Today on Patreon: The Patreon Q'N'A and Nico's Corner For the full Planet FPL schedule this week, including our offering on Patreon view this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/114855038 Want to become a member of our FPL community and support the Podcast? On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Chelsea fan Gary Mantle and Newcastle fan Simon Bibby ahead of Sunday's meeting between the clubs at Stamford Bridge and right from the get-go on this Podcast there's a strong feeling about a positive Fantasy weekend for Cole Palmer! That's in part because of Chelsea's bright start to the season which included a spirited performance despite defeat at Liverpool, but is also due to on-going concerns that not all is well with Newcastle... but why? All the key FPL assets covered and with both set for positive fixture swings in Gameweek 12 there's plenty to cover with thoughts on Chelsea's defensive assets, the prospects for Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak going forward, there's advice for Noni Madueke owners and James is very keen on investing in Nicolas Jackson. Premium FPL Midfielders | The People's Poll ep. 152 | Planet FPL 2024/25

Suj and James have an open discussion about the 6 highest priced midfielders in FPL; Mo Salah, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden with the aim of ascertaining which of them is desired most in the immediate upcoming fixtures and then in the longer-term from the fixture swing in Gameweek 12. There's a look at the data so far this season, the fixtures, the explosive capabilities of the players and how many is the right number to have, the danger of having only one and cutting yourself off of others and how having as many as three can allow you flexibility to move budget around. But having only two, and certainly three, would make it very difficult to hold Erling Haaland moving forward. To Regulate Or Manipulate | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 17 | GW8 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Suj and James review all the key talking points from the Gameweek 8 weekend and for many it was an FPL weekend to forget with many popular assets blanking, but there were success stories to be found with the likes of Mo Salah, Heung-Min Son (perhaps controversially) and Ollie Watkins returning well. Son, was gambled on by a number of FPL managers just before deadline with concern surrounding Bukayo Saka, who wouldn't feature in The Gunners first defeat of the season at Bournemouth. Did those managers have inside information on Saka's absence!? James is holding on to a place just inside the top 10k, but his biggest joy of the weekend was seeing success for Tottenham in the Planet FPL Derby, which features heavily in a Gameweek Review that also covers how Chelsea impressed despite defeat at Liverpool. And it was a third blank in a row for Erling Haaland at Wolves, so surely he can't blank again with whipping boys Southampton up next. Or could he!? Deploying the triple captaincy is discussed and James has some new players on radar for transfers, which even includes one from Manchester United. Wolves v Man City | CotC with Bradley Parker & Jonny Pringle | Planet FPL 2024/25

On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Wolves fan Bradley Parker and Manchester City fan Jonny Pringle to discuss the latest at their clubs and the FPL assets from within ahead of Sunday's Gameweek 8 meeting at Molineux. It's one point from seven for Wolves and the, pressure is mounting on Gary O'Neil, but have they really been as bad as the results suggest? For City, much of discourse recently has surrounded Pep Guardiola's future, but whether he stays on beyond this season or not, the immediate conundrum is finding solutions to replace the irreplaceable Rodri. Plus, FPL chat includes discussion on Erling Haaland and whether one of the upcoming fixtures (Southampton follows Wolves) look good enough to deploy the Triple Captaincy Chip. And Rico Lewis v Josko Gvardiol is discussed, if FPL managers should take a punt on Phil Foden with enticing fixtures but with Kevin De Bruyne close to a return; while Wolves assets are set appeal too with a brilliant turn of fixtures on the horizon, Ryan Ait-Nouri will attract interest and so to might attackers Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen. Capello's England Reign | The People's Poll ep. 151 | Planet FPL 2024/25

Clayton and James discuss the England reign of Fabio Capello, that began after England had failed to qualify for The European Championship and ended four years later after a successful campaign to qualify for the same tournament. The end came after Capello's captain had been stripped by the FA of the captaincy for off the field misdemeanors, which came a couple of years after Capello had stripped the same player, John Terry, for other off field problems. Those issues with Terry feature in the conversation and there's coverage of the highs and lows on the field as England sought revenge against Croatia in their attempts to qualify for the 2010 World Cup before being humbled miserably by Germany in the Last 16. The Next 4 | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 16 | GW8-11 Preview | Fantasy Premier League

Suj and James look ahead to the forthcoming four weeks before the final Interlull in 2024, a period where for many popular FPL assets the fixtures look rough, primarily because of fixtures against each other. For example Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all play each other over the next four. There's discussion on flipping assets with bad fixtures, such as Bukayo Saka for someone with a great run like Phil Foden, how often would feel comfortable to play the likes of Morgan Rogers or Antoine Semenyo over this period. There's discussion on which enablers are fancied from those with positive fixtures, Brennan Johnson's appeal and can James finally decided it's time for Erling Haaland? Plus, there's actually some good listener questions covered. Fulham v Aston Villa | CotC with Lewis James & Lee Jackson | Planet FPL 2024/25

On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Fulham fan Lewis James and Aston Villa Lee Jackson to discuss the latest at their clubs and their interesting FPL assets ahead of the GW8 meeting at Craven Cottage. Fulham have started really well, beaten only twice in Manchester and they have a great group of upcoming fixtures, whilst Villa have also started well, though it perhaps should also be expected with who they've played so far and fixtures are now looking tougher and have we already seen signs of the Champions League proving a distraction? Both Antonee Robinson and Emile Smith-Rowe have been popular for FPL managers so far, should Fantasy managers stick with them or look elsewhere with Fulham having only kept one clean sheet and with Smith-Rowe benched at the weekend? James has a big Erling Haaland dilemma, and the only way to get him him would include selling Ollie Watkins; does Lee think he should do it? Plus, there's a follow up on conversation during the last International break on concerns over Villa defensively, Raul Jimenez has hit form making him worth considering, and is Morgan Rogers likely to stay the community's darling as enabling midfield choice, particularly when many at a similar price are outperforming him on some of the underlying numbers, and that includes several Fulham players! Walking On Hot Cole | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 14 | GW6 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Suj and James discuss the 9 games from the Premier League weekend and there was some wild swings for Fantasy managers, and particularly many on Wildcard which included Suj, and for many it ended in disappointment. There's discussion on thinking longer-term for Wildcard and that decisions aren't made based on just one Gameweek. But for James, who Wildcarded back in week 3, it was a stormer and Cole Palmer's monster 25 point haul helped him rise inside the nose bleed territory of the top 50k. But what should Palmer owners who have gone without do now? Does structure and upcoming fixtures necessitate continuing to go without? All the games covered as usual which include the North London clubs posting some silly underlying numbers, Liverpool's win that took them top, Villa being held by Ipswich and it's getting tiring talking about the shortcomings of Manchester United! Is There Too Much Top Level Football? | The People's Poll ep. 149 | Planet FPL 2024/25

Is there too much football at the top level of the game? It's a hot topic of debate particularly in light of Rodri suffering a serious injury only days after speaking out again about the demands on players physically and mentally at the upper echelons of the game. Clayton joins James for an open discussion on if the likes of Rodri are right, and if so, what can be done to change things? Conversation features the Science opinion on how many games games top players are asked to play, why the manager and player opinion often differs from 'the club' demands, the future of the Carabao Cup, whether the FIFA Club World Cup will actually happen, if players could actually consider strike action and a suggestion that might actually have some legs in the longer-term to reduce the amount of games players participate in. I'm Alright Jack | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 13 | GW5 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Suj has seen enough and despite a strong start to his FPL season the Wildcard is now active! On the review of all the Gameweek 5 fixtures there is a theme of looking for players on Wildcard as James tries to lead Suj into what he would do if in the same position. And for James it was another positive week against his no Haaland and no Salah strategy, but an early move has been made for GW6 and it's unlikely to surprise. Arsenal assets with be in high demand; so is double defensive the way to go after another resolute showing in earning a point in a dramatic encounter at Manchester City? That game features in the tactical insight into the games where James even found himself impressed by Manchester United; as he was by an improved Tottenham but it was a bad day at the office for West Ham as they were beaten comfortably by Chelsea. Enabling options for selection also feature prominently and James has two midfielders on radar who didn't return at the weekend... Aston Villa v Everton | CotC with Lee Jackson & Sean Norton | Planet FPL 2024/25

James is joined by Aston Villa fan Lee Jackson and Everton fan Sean Norton to discuss their clubs and FPL assets of interest ahead of the Gameweek 4 meeting between the two clubs at Villa Park. Ollie Watkins has underwhelmed so far this season, now yellow flagged and key provider Leon Bailey is injured... so why is James considering captaining the Villa talisman in Gameweek 4? Facing a pointless Everton who are struggling without defensive lynchpin Jarrad Branthwaite is a good place to start; but is it really all that bad for The Toffees, who cone into a brilliant fixture run after the trip to Villa, and there is one Evertonian Sean intends to go for on Wildcard! And Villa's good run of fixtures has already begun, with Morgan Rogers proving popular despite zero returns so far and there will be interest in their defensive assets too, but there's a warning to avoid. James is joined by Manchester City fan Jonny Pringle and Brentford fan Tom Medd to discuss the latest at their clubs and some very important FPL assets ahead of the club's meeting at The Etihad in Gameweek 4. Erling Haaland looks back to his very best and off the back of two consecutive hat-tricks, there's reflection on if we carried problems through last season and whether he will be the FPL captaincy choice of preference over forthcoming weeks. Kevin De Bruyne is undertaking a new role and also looking back to his best, with Phil Foden absent recently there's focus on him and other Manchester City assets, including the mid price midfielders and the prospects of defensive assets Rico Lewis and Josko Gavrdiol for FPL managers. And Brentford assets should appeal too, they have an amazing fixture run after the trip to City and the likes of Mark Flekken, Sepp Van Den Berg, Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa are all subject to scrutiny for FPL managers Tomorrow on Planet FPL: The Clayton & James Show ep.4 Today on Patreon: UCL Fantasy Fixture Analysis & Away Days For the full Planet FPL schedule this week, including our offering on Patreon view this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/schedule-2nd-6th-111255735 Want to become a member of our FPL community and support the Podcast? Tweak Of The Thumb | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 10 | GW3 Review | Fantasy Premier League

Suj and James discuss the fallout from all the Gameweek 3 games as Erling Haaland made it back-to-back hat-tricks for another seventeen points and Mo Salah match that total as Liverpool cruised to victory at Old Trafford. It mean owning both with the captaincy on either returned 51 points, and despite James' Wildcarding he's still sitting there with neither. So how bad did it turn out!? All the games and key talking points discussed with a heavy focus on the FPL assets on mind both for the shorter term and thinking further ahead; plus James is pleased despite Tottenham's defeat at Newcastle, and for Manchester United there's a feeling that things won't change until there is change. Man Utd v Liverpool | CotC with Gary Robinson & Dan Lord | Planet FPL 2024/25

On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Manchester United fan Gary Robinson and Liverpool fan Dan Lord to talk FPL assets and their clubs ahead of what many perceive as English's football biggest fixture. There's discussion on the two clubs start to the season, with concern for what the reaction may be at United if defeat at Brighton is followed by another loss and how much we can read from Liverpool's opening two wins. There's advice for those on Manchester United assets in FPL including whether Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho should cut their losses and the majority of Liverpool assets can be considered but there is agreement on two standouts, the danger of 'no' Salah and whether there would a preference for double Liverpool attack or defence. A Green Spot In The Desert | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 9 | GW2 Review | Fantasy Premier League

An Oasis of joy for Erling Haaland Captainers and Triple Captainers as the big man took home the match ball on Saturday and he wasn't the only hat-trick scorer this weekend as Noni Madueke also hit a treble - all assisted by cold Cole Palmer - as The Blues scored six at Wolves. Suj and James review all the weekend games from Gameweek 2 which saw a continuation of clean sheets which even remarkably featured Tottenham and West Ham keeping the door locked. But it was cleans for Arsenal and Liverpool that helped a Haaland-less James survive the week. There's insight into some of the weekend tactics including Tottenham's very offensive setup, Newcastle concern and why Kevin De Bruyne needs close monitoring. And now James in on Wildcard, with thoughts given on the players under consideration, while Suj has some issues to deal with, such as Christopher Nkunku and Lewis Hall, but he might not panic. Or he might. Some Might Say. Wolves v Chelsea | CotC with Bradley Parker & Gary Mantle | Planet FPL 2024/25

On the opening of Clash of the Correspondents for 2024/25 James is joined by Wolves fan Bradley Parker and Chelsea fan Gary Mantle to discuss current matters and FPL assets at their clubs ahead of Sunday's meeting at Molineux. As the closure of the transfer window approaches both clubs are in very different positions. Despite recouping close to £100m after the sales of Max Kilman and Pedro Neto (to Chelsea) the club reportedly only have £20m to invest; whilst at Chelsea the spending continues and more can be expected before the transfer window shuts, but the club is trying to sell several players with up to 15 reportedly told they don't have a future at the club and that includes Raheem Sterling. There's discussion on what Chelsea can expect from Neto and what may now be their strongest line-up and where Wolves may look to spend what is available to improve their current squad. Plus, FPL discussions feature a strong interest in Chelsea assets with a good fixture list on the horizon. The Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer debate is re-evaluated and if they can be trusted defensively to invest. But The Blues recent record at Wolves is not good, and might the best FPL investment defensively from the two clubs be in the home side? Morale Boost | Planet FPL S. 8 Ep. 8 | GW1 Review | Fantasy Premier League

The Planet FPL Gameweek Review returns as Suj and James discuss the nind games played so far in Gameweek 1 and it was a great weekend for many who attacked the opening weekend fixtures as several top players returned well and clean sheets were on the rise with Arsenal, Liverpool, the Manchester clubs and Newcastle all managing to keep out their opponents. There's tactical insight to the games and as usual a slant towards FPL thinking with much of the advice given that managers should hold their nerve on the majority of selections and that may even include one or two players who didn't start this weekend. And it was a big FPL week for James with four Tottenham in the team and a Bench Boost active. It went well, but is the good work about to be undone in Gameweek 2 with the proposed Wildcard now unlikely to be played? That would likely mean no Erling Haaland this weekend and possibly no Manchester City coverage at all! Tomorrow on Planet FPL: The People's Poll Podcast.
