Men in Blazers 01/05/2024: WGFOP Weekend Preview

"What is undoubtedly the biggest profile game of the 3rd round: first place Liverpool, face the team who were champions of Christmas. But… Liverpool are already in the Carabao Cup semi-final and will face up to Fulham on Wednesday in the first leg of that clash. With the league title-race front of mind, will Jurgen Klopp really want to clutter the fixture list further with an FA Cup run for his now Mo Salah-less side?" S5 Ep2: Euro 88 special (matchday 1)

Our look back at Euro 88 continues with the first round of group games. On Friday 10 June 1988, the tournament kicked off with a tense match between West Germany, the hosts and favourites, and a vibrant young Italian side. The other Group A game took place the following afternoon, a thrilling if slightly shambolic contest between Denmark and Spain. There were five goals and a fair bit of controversy, but the highlight for English audiences was a brief, comic loss of temper from the usually immaculate Barry Davies. In Group B, two of the pre-tournament favourites – England and the Netherlands – got underway. England faced an FA Cup tie against the Republic of Ireland, whose 20-man squad included 16 England-based players. In the evening we finally got to see the Netherlands, including their Ballon d’Or-winning captain Ruud Gullit. They took on European Championship royalty: the USSR. This is a public episode. Man City v Man Utd | F.A. Cup Final CotC with @FPLPringle & @ismyCAPplaying | Planet FPL 2022/23

On the final Clash of the Correspondents of the season James is joined by Manchester City fan Jonny Pringle and Manchester United fan Gary Robinson to preview Saturday's first all Manchester FA Cup Final. There's tactical thoughts and discussion on likely line ups for the final, the evolution of the rivalry over City's dominant period and discussion on the club's seasons... Can anyone compete with City in the next campaign following another title victory? Should United be happy with 3rd, a League Cup win and another final to come? And City are on the verge of the treble, a feat only achieved by rivals United back in 1999, but do City dare look beyond United? And if they do win on Saturday would beating Inter appear a formality?
