But the story of the draft was their first-round draft pick. And on today's show, Farai Mutatu will stay up well past his bedtime to call into the podcast to talk to us. Host Josh Guesman welcomes Mutatu to the Galaxy fans on the west coast just as the former Michigan State player prepares to wing across the country and land in Los Angeles -- a place he's only been once before. Mutatu will tell you about his journey to getting drafted by the Galaxy and what he thinks he can bring to a Galaxy team who can always use a guy who doesn't know how to give up. After the phone call, Josh will talk about the Galaxy's other draft picks and why the club probably passed on their final draft pick. But what obstacles will get in the way of any of these former college players? International slots? Roster spots? We'll discuss it all. Then Josh will get you updated on Victor Vazquez, who looks to be returning to the Galaxy as he left Europe and videoed his fantastic lay-flat bad. How do we get into first class? The answer? More superchats! Finally, Josh will go over the rumor that is dying on the vine and tell you why Douglas Costa says he wants to stay in Brazil. Do the Galaxy believe that? Does Costa believe that? And what of our french rumors? We've got a packed show that will answer some of your questions and get you ready for Sunday's first day of training. As always, thanks for joining us twice every week!

We answered your questions about parity in Europe’s Top 5 Leagues, and why Bruce Arena/coaches outside of the top leagues are often overlooked on best coaches lists in #AskAlexi (1:28:45). But it would be best if you were warned; Sacha Kljestan joins us, and Josh tells a story about seeing Santa Clause. Also, there might be a Galaxy-themed 'Twas the Night before Christmas that debuted on this show about six years ago. But who's counting? Hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter update you on Galaxy news and talk about what 2021 looked like from the Galaxy perspective. Also, what are we expecting from Greg Vanney and company now that a lot of what Dennis te Kloese did has been wiped from the front office. The guys start with welcoming Sacha Kljestan to the show, where they discuss if he gets tired of being called "old" after every game by the press and why some "moron" once predicted that he'd be coming to the Galaxy in a move that almost got him to the Galaxy. That's right. We're taking you back to 2014, people. But Sacha will also talk about things that need to change in 2022 and how this team will fill the holes left by Sebastian Lletget and Jonathan dos Santos. After Sacha leaves, Josh and Kevin will update you on the Galaxy's pursuit of Cristian Pavon and why they may be stepping back from the very talented midfielder. The guys will also talk about the rumor that Carlos Harvey has acquired his Green Card and why that will be a massive benefit to the midfielder as he tries to establish himself as an MLS player. Finally, Armenia loves the Galaxy, Santa Clause is Coming to Town, and what would it sound like if the Galaxy wrote 'Twas the Night before Christmas." Did Josh really jinx the Galaxy with one poem? We hope everyone enjoyed our 2021 season of the podcast, and we'll be back in 2022! See you on January 3rd!

Can we talk about a blown call in a game that was more than 1,500 miles away? Can we blame a team that couldn't get it done at home? And can we say goodbye to a member of CoG that has been integral to its success? Well, we're going to talk about all of it. We're going to go over a game the Galaxy shouldn't have lost, and we're going to talk about a coach that got some things wrong on the night. And while doing all of that, we're going to look back on a season that had plenty of opportunities and very little execution. The bottom line is that this Galaxy team wasn't ready to be in the playoffs. And playing against Minnesota at home, they didn't have the experience to get a result. We'll also discuss Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez and why Julian Araujo has a lot to learn about the really big games. Finally, we'll talk about Dennis te Kloese's future with the Galaxy and figure out why that situation may come to a head very quickly. The offseason starts right now, and we've got a lot to cover in a relatively short amount of time!

The term can mean anything from what the LA Galaxy did with Gyasi Zardes to what they're trying to do with a young player like Alex Alcala. So what does it mean to an organization like the Galaxy? On today's special edition of Corner of the Galaxy, host Josh Guesman is joined by LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese for over 60 minutes of youth development discussion. Josh and Dennis will cover topics that range from why scouting and development are different and what the goal for the club is when developing players. Why scouting is an essential part of the equation, and what it takes to make these ventures pay off? They'll also discuss how the landscape has shifted in MLS and why going to Europe to develop seems to be something of the past and not something of the future. What are the pitfalls of youth development for a young player, and why is it so important to have parental buy-in and parental education. And why the interests of the club can usually match the interests of the player. And Josh will even throw in some important questions at the end, just to make sure everyone makes it through the discussion. This is an unprecedented look into the theories and the thought processes behind the Galaxy's development system and what Dennis sees as the next steps for the program. It's also why he views it as unfinished business! A big thank you to Dennis for taking the time to talk to us about this subject. And yes, he is definitely messing with you on Instagram. Thanks for listening and Watching!

There are also players to talk about and why Kevin Cabral had his most significant jump forward in a Galaxy uniform on Friday night. Is he ready for more? Josh and Larry will also talk about the players returning from Gold Cup and why Jonathan dos Santos was expected back in LA today but found himself in Mexico City instead. Will that change some of what Greg Vanney told us in our wide-ranging media call today? The LA Galaxy signed a 21-year-old as their youngest Designated Player in club history. But when we first were looking at Kevin Cabral, we had assumed the Galaxy were going to get him under a different Mechanism. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou discuss why that all changed and what that means for a team that is now out of Designated Player slots. And does this really mean the end of Cristian Pavon? Let's face it; Major League Soccer does a horrible job of explaining all the rules to everyone. Josh will do his best to give you an advanced crash-course in why Cabral isn't going to be signed under the U-22 Initiative and why the Galaxy are still calling that a win. And how much are they paying him? If the reports are accurate, Cabral just got his first big payday. But why is Samuel Grandsir also another important signing to the success of Cabral? And why are the Galaxy so sure on a 21-year-old that has a lot of upside but not a lot of experience? During the show, Josh and Sophie will make sure they get their thoughts in on the Galaxy's preseason draw with the Colorado Rapids and tell you why Saturday's game against Real Salt Lake could be a crucial match. But they're also going to highlight some Galaxy II signings that have some first-team impact, get you through another retro fashion drop and make sure you're following along with the Galaxy's new supplemental development deal. Maybe your kids will be at Dignity Health Sports Park to be assessed by the Galaxy Academy coaches. We've got a jam-packed show brimming with the details you need to explain what the Galaxy did with Cabral. Go forth and teach the masses!

Well lucky for you, this show is that show, and we're giving a heaping scoop of opinion, news, and Galaxy fun! Let's get to it! Hosts Josh Guesman and Eric Vieira cover the club from every angle. And that includes the ongoing "authentic" drama that seems to have left the Galaxy speechless. The guys will start with some Liga G talk and then quickly progress into the latest twist on what the kits on the field will look when the Galaxy finally take the field in 2021. What happened to the MLS patch? And why should it have been missing all along? Josh and Eric then focus in on the signing of Victor Vazquez and why Greg Vanney thinks the world of him. And that might mean that he'll be getting a lot more minutes than we first thought. Plus, with his pedigree, can Vazquez become the link to championships the Galaxy need? The guys will also talk about Vanney's media call and how he touched on almost every subject fans want to know. Are more players incoming? And why is that defensive midfielder so crucial to what the Galaxy want to do? Plus, before the lengthy conversation about Cristian Pavon, Josh and Eric verify the priority season ticket holders will be given and talk about how the Galaxy have magically made Season Ticket Agreements go away -- conveniently when it's best for them. Will you be able to get into the stadium? Could the Galaxy get into the Orange tier before the home opener at the end of April? We've got a packed show that should keep you entertained throughout its unusual length!

COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy filled another spot in the midfield with the signing of Samuel Grandsir. But his stats don't exactly paint a picture of perfection. We'll discuss where he'll play, why he's a starter, and what surprise we found with his announcement. Hosts Josh Guesman and Sophie Nicolaou get you caught up on a hectic week of Galaxy news, and it's all important stuff! Don't miss it! First, Josh and Sophie will discuss the announcement of the first two games of the Galaxy season and why Major League Soccer already tipped their hand when they had two east coast opponents for the club. Can MLS and the Galaxy afford to treat this like any other season? Then, your hosts will put actual numbers to the planned re-opening of Dignity Health Sports Park and tell you why it doesn't seem very likely that everyone who wants to be in the stands will be in the stands come April 25 when the New York Red Bulls come to town. Do you feel safe going back to the stadium? But the big news of the day is Frenchman Grandsir getting the "officially signed" tag from the Galaxy. And while we do our best to stay on top of all the developments, his contract surprised us when the Galaxy added a fourth year as a club option. What are the Galaxy risking? And why might it be a massive move? Finally, Josh and Sophie talk about Julain Araujo and Efrain Alvarez's development through the eyes of their national teams. And why Araujo may be going to the Olympics while Araujo gets a senior team call-up. We've got an absolutely packed show! We've got lights! We've got cameras, and we've got some action!
