On James’ fixture planner for the first 8 gameweeks the team that appears top of the difficulty ratings, is Everton. Can they take advantage and get off to a good start despite concerns that they’ll be involved near the bottom of that table again? And if so are there FPL assets to consider? The answer is almost definitely yes. Jordan Pickford, James Tarkowski and Ashley Young may all appeal defensively but the gem might be 4.0 Jorrod Branthwaite. Could he start the season? And at the top end Arnaut Danjuma and Dominic Calvert-Lewin – subject to fitness – could also be considered and as we find out on the Podcast there may even be a gem who is yet to be given a price. The Championship Champions are next up on Correspondent Week and the expectation is The Clarets are strongest of the three promoted teams. Jack Toner joins James discuss Vincent Kompany, total football and an overview of the squad and the FPL assets at Turf Moor. The Blank Gameweek 2 doesn’t help when trying to select Burnley players for FPL but there are some enablers who definitely deserve consideration. That includes a number of 4.0 defenders, in fact Jack details that as many as three could well start the opener against Manchester City. Jordan Beyer is comfortably the most owned, is he the best choice? Who’s likely to start up front? Could Wout Weghorst be reintegrated into the team? Plus players to watch, likely starting eleven, why further investment is both needed and expected and a tactical discussion suggests Burnley might on occasion play a back five. Gary Mantle joins James for a particularly important Correspondent Week Podcast on Chelsea who are now managed by former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and have a number of important and interesting FPL assets that appeal, particularly ahead of a critical fixture swing in Gameweek 3. But Christopher Nkunku ‘might’ be injured, should he be fit he is still very much worth considering, but so to is the slightly cheaper Nicolas Jackson. Reece James vs Ben Chilwell, which is best for investment? Or should 4.5 Levi Colwill take Fantasy managers defensive investment? Or should, with concerns about depth in midfield, Chelsea’s defence be avoided all together? Plus, 4.5 midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka looks set to start in GW1, is he one of the 8 Chelsea players Gary thinks (subject to fitness) are locked to start vs Liverpool? Bournemouth fan Neil Grover joins James for discussion on The Cherries and a very important discussion on what to expect from new manager Andoni Iraola… and there’s plenty for Bournemouth fans to be enthused about. There is however a daunting opening 7 fixtures of the season and Bournemouth will do well to be outside the bottom 3 by the end of it… but on the flip side Iraola’s Rayo Vallecano were adept at causing upsets against the big boys, which leads to an interesting debate about the GW2 fixture at Liverpool. There’s a detailed tactical chat about how Iraola likes to set up, plus an overview of the squad, likely starting eleven, the prospects for Dominic Solanke and why new left-back Milos Kerkez should be one Fantasy managers keep a close eye on… Follow Neil on Twitter: https://twitter.com/AFCBNG Next on Correspondent Week: ep. 16 – Chelsea with Gary Mantle, Friday 2pm BST Today on Patreon: The Correspondent Week Debrief with Suj: on Sheffield United, Newcastle, Bournemouth and Chelsea For the full Planet FPL Schedule this week view this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/86901192 Want to become a member of our FPL and SkyFF community and support the Podcast? When does the season hold in store for Newcastle following qualification for the Champions League. Simon Bibby joins James to talk all things Newcastle including all the potential FPL assets. It’s a tough opening for The Toon; Villa, Man City, Liverpool and Brighton is the opening 4, and so many want to treat Newcastle as a watch and wait, but Kieran Trippier and Sven Botman’s ownership suggest otherwise. Are the defensive pair worth having or are they like to bleed value? There’s discussion on new signings Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes, increasing depth in the squad could mean more rotation but there is concern about depth defensively. Plus, who’s likely to start out of Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson? And Si and James agree on the Newcastle asset they are most likely to pick in FPL… and the answer may surprise. The task looked tough already with spending likely to be restricted, critics writing them off and now star signing Ilman Ndiaye has left for Marseille. Ben ‘Tommo’ Thompson joins James to discuss The Blades chances of silencing the critics and to discuss a number of interesting enabler options for FPL. Right wing-back George Baldock is proving popular but will he start regularly enough to justify investment? And we find out it could be a bench full of Blades for FPL managers with 4.5 midfield and forward options who may emerge. Ricky Saunders joins James to talk all things Tottenham and there’s only one place to start, and that’s to answer the big burning question, will Harry Kane stay, and what will Tottenham look like with and without their talisman? There’s an intro to Ange Postecoglu, spoiler, expect a much more attacking Tottenham, and details of tactical principles including the roles of the full-backs and who’s likely to start in those positions. Plus, the need for at least one centre-back is desperate, the roles of James Maddison and Heung-Min Son in this ‘new Tottenham’ are beginning to look defined and there’s eyes on a couple of interesting lower price Tottenham players, though like with much of the team there’s no certainty that they will start. It’s been a challenging month for The Cottagers, key players picking up injuries and both their star player and manager have been the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia. Manager Marco Silva has decided to stay but talisman Aleksander Mitrovic appears to still want out. Can he be reintegrated and convinced to stay? If Mitrovic does leave how much interest should FPL managers have in Carlos Vinicus or new signing Raul Jimenez? Which of the 5.5 midfielders stands out as the best choice? Is Bernd Leno the best 4.5 goalkeeper choice? Gary Robinson joins James to discuss all the latest at Manchester United including key and popular FPL picks Andre Onana, Luke Shaw, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford. Many FPL managers look like they may go with both Fernandes and Rashford, but if it had to be just one, who’s best? Is Onana worth the 0.5 saving on Shaw? Or should an alternative defender that should be considered. It’s been a feature of Planet FPL pre-season content that James has expressed concerns about Wolves ahead of the coming season. On the latest Correspondent Week Podcast Wolves fan Bradley Parker joins James to answer if it’s correct to have concerns and if there’s any Wolves FPL assets managers should consider. Jose Sa has posted 140+ point seasons in consecutive seasons, can he be considered at 5.0? The ‘Doc’ Matt Doherty has returned and many paid 6.0 for him three years ago, can he roll back the years and be considered at 4.5? Who will start up front? Can 5.5 Fabio Silva return from successive loan spells and finally establish himself? Plus, what do The Fosun owners want to do with the club? Is investment required? Are they restricted by FFP? Luton’s Premier League adventure is nearly upon us and Dan Ashby joins James to kick off Correspondent Week Day 3 and discuss The Hatters, their prospects of survival and the enablers who should appeal to FPL managers. There’s 4.0 defenders, a starting 4.5 midfielder and even potential in 5.0 and 4.5 forwards, but with a Blank in Gameweek 2 it means picking more than one could bring trouble. So who’s best? Is it the well owned Amari’I Bell? Is new loan signing Issa Kabore assured of starts? Can Marvelous Nakamba offer anything more than starting points? There’s discussion on the likely first choice line-up, why there’s confusion on who may be on penalties, issues in trying to buy a new goalkeeper and where further investment in the squad may be required, But Luton are working on a shoestring financially in comparison to other Premier League clubs and that’s why finishing above the relegation zone would bea miraculous achievement… but don’t rule them out. Tom Medd joins James to talk all things Brentford and with an attractive set of opening fixtures there’s plenty to be excited about and attacking assets particularly appeal, but who can step up and reward FPL managers in the Absence of the suspended Ivan Toney? Intriguingly, the players of interest offensively are all at different price points, with Bryan Mbuemo at 6.5, Yoane Wissa at 6.0, Kevin Schade at 5.5 and as discovered on the Podcast Keane Lewis-Potter shouldn’t be discounted at 5.0 either. But interest remains in investing in another forward; so how much should that play on the minds of FPL managers? Will new signing Mark Flekken start in goal, with with David Raya likely to depart? But importantly, is he actually any good? Pre-season performances have caused concern, so would it be better to invest in a defender? And the Podcast begins with discussion on Toney’s suspension. It’s a Planet FPL debut for new Crystal Palace correspondent Ruaidhri McLaughlin-Dowd as he joins James to give the lowdown on The Eagles, and there are concerns that Palace may be about to have a season where they stand still rather than kick on. There’s reflection on Patrick Vieira’s dismissal and the improved run under Roy Hodgson, but is it the right call to have then reappointed him on a full-time basis? Could it partly be because Palace haven’t looked like doing much business in the transfer market and that Hodgson remains a safe pair of hands until the man Palace wants is available? With Wilfried Zaha gone and Michael Olise injured much of the onus will fall on the popular Ebe Eze to provide the attacking output in the season to come, he now looks the clear talisman for FPL and at 6.5 will appeal. But does he need a better support cast to allow him to flourish? Could 19 year-old Brazilian Matheus Franca prove to be the much needed attacking addition that Palace need? Plus, does the signing of Jefferson Lerma signal a return to a more pragmatic Palace? And does it mean their defensive assets at 4.5 should appeal more? Are we in a perma-cap phase for Erling Haaland at the season’s beginning? Is there any case to make for FPL managers to go against him? Hopes are high for Phil Foden but where will he play and for FPL does it matter? Does Jack Grealish offer a more reliable alternative? Is Kevin De Bruyne too expensive for consideration? It’s Planet FPL’s biggest Week of the season as James speaks to all 20 Premier League Correspondents this week across 20 Podcasts to get their view on their clubs and the FPL assets within them ahead of the Gameweek 1 kick off. First up it’s Nottingham Forest fan Mark Sutherns. Can Forest improve on last season’s 16th place finish or is another battle against relegation likely? Plus, best Brighton and Man City assets to invest in now, benching headaches around the likes of Alexander-Arnold, Salah and last night's hero (or villian, subject to whether you own him) Callum Wilson... On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Manchester United correspondent Gary Robinson and Chelsea fan Gary Mantle to discuss the latest at their clubs in cluding the upcoming Double Gameweek that features a meeting between the two at Old Trafford next Thursday. Should United be concerned about falling outside of the top 4? 2 wins are needed and should they both arrive in the double, should FPL managers then be concerned about rotation in GW38 ahead of the FA Cup Final against treble chasing neighbours City? Just how bad has this season been for Chelsea? There's reflection on Graham Potter's reign, the interim spell with Frank Lampard and thoughts turn to the imminent apppointment of Mauricio Pochettino. Plus, Marcus Rashford's fitness, best United FPL assets discussed including if Bruno Fernandes should be forced in, if multiple defensive assets should be considered and differential Antony. Will Kepa come back in goal for Chelsea; are there any other assets that can be considered? Or should they be heavily avoided with trips to both Manchester clubs upcoming and Newcastle visiting Stamford Bridge on the final day...? On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Fulham fan Dara Curran and Crystal Palace fan Migtavius to discuss the latest at their clubs and preview Saturday's meeting at Craven Cottage. Fulham look certain finish above Chelsea, but could yet overhaul Brentford too and finish as West London's finest this season? For Palace they've again just fallen short of a top half finish but considering where they were a couple of months ago they'll be delighted. There's discussion on the future of Marco Silva and if he could be an option for Palace who presumably will be looking for anew manager, or could Roy Hodgson stay on? There's a couple of FPL Differentials in the midfield area who should perhaps have interest from more FPL managers than is currently being seen in the likes of Tom Cairney, Harry Wilson, Ebe Eze and Michael Olise. Plus, Aleksander Mitrovic is back, but has Wilfried Zaha played his last game for The Eagles...? Suj & James review the 9 games played so far in DGW36 that featured Brighton's outstanding 3-0 victory that all but ends Arsenal's hopes of the title and for FPL managers with Pervis Estupinan there was a dream haul. Similiar will be true for those who had Ilkay Gundogan return well in Manchester City's own 3-0 victory at Everton. And those who took the Callum Wilson gamble will also be delighted after the Newcastle forward scored two penalties in a 2-2 draw at Leeds. There's discussion on the players of interest from Gameweek 37's 4 doublers, Brighton, Chelsea, and Manchester's City and United and why there's still reason to have interest for many with just a single fixture. Plus, James has a cold and suffered another bad away day at Villa Park, the Roberto De Zerbi love-in continues and randomly there's a heated debate about the transfer value of an injured Ivan Toney... On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Leicester fan Aaron Lagor and Liverpool fan Dan Lord to discuss the latest at their clubs, the Monday night meeting at The King Power and the FPL assets of interest. Can Leicester save themselves from the drop? Do they now have to win on Monday? There's also reflection on Brendan Rodgers reign as manager and thoughts on the interim spell under Dean Smith. Liverpool are on a run of 6 consecutive wins and have found form just in time to keep themselves in contention for a top 4 finish, can they yet overhaul one of the United's above them? Plus, are we overlooking captaining Mo Salah this week? Surely Trent Alexander-Arnold can't be benched... and with Leicester better offensively than defensively and desperate for points could the likes of James Maddison and Harvey Barnes be differentials to consider? And expect goals... On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Newcastle fan Simon Bibby and Brighton fan Sam Murray to discuss the latest at their clubs and the all important FPL assets with both clubs the only to have a Double Gameweek this week. Isak or Wilson? Willock or Joelinton? Should Trippier still be in contention for the armband with the forwards? And why Sean Longstaff's fitness matters. Is March a definite sell? Is Mac Allister the obvious replacement? Should Brighton defensive assets be benched despite the double!? Will Steele stay in goal? Encisio vs Ferguson vs Welbeck, who's best? Plus, should Newcastle be concerned about Liverpool's winning run or is a top 4 finish a formality despite Sunday's loss to Arsenal? And what happened to Brighton on Monday against Everton? Could they yet completely miss out on European qualification despite games in hand?
