Suj and James review the weekend of Gameweek 17 that provided some monster scores as Mo Salah returned his biggest FPL haul of his incredible season as Liverpool won 6-3 at Tottenham, while Arsenal were also big scorers this weekend as they hit 5 at Crystal Palace. But much of the debate for FPL managers is now who to replace the injured Bukayo Saka following his hamstring pull. Options are considered throughout he Podcast, including spreading the money and could that even bring a rout back to Erling Haaland in time for Manchester City's enticing next 5 fixtures!? Question is, after City's latest setback at Villa, where Morgan Rogers (benched my many) hauled, do FPL managers have any confidence to invest in Pep's men? Plus, brilliant Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest's tactical tweak, Everton's strength in defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold acises a big debate, Alexander Isak is on fire and plenty more... Vicky Gomersall is joined by The Mirror's Darren Lewis and Sky Sports senior reporter Melissa Reddy to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We start with Manchester City’s crisis after a defeat at Villa Park; a ninth loss in twelve matches but Melissa believes the most damning observation is it’s no longer a surprise. Next, Arsenal’s emphatic win at Crystal Palace. Gabriel Jesus’s five goals in four days contributes in a big way to Arsenal’s open-play goals, but star boy Bukayo Saka left Selhurst Park on crutches and will be a big miss. Then a heated debate, as Melissa and Darren argue over whether Marcus Rashford deserves greater criticism after stating he is ready for a new challenge. Elsewhere, David Craig sits down with Ange Postecoglu, who talks of Spurs being entertainers, his love of the team scoring goals and how “there may be a world in which we exist, where Jamie Carragher is wrong.” Sunday Supplement is a Sky Sports podcast. On Clash of the Correspondents it's a London Derby preview as James is joined by Fulham fan Lewis James and Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard to discuss the latest at their clubs and their FPL assets ahead of Sunday's GW15 meeting at Craven Cottage. But first for Fulham, they host Brighton tonight, and victory could see them move up to 6th and on Understat's expected points model they should be 3rd, yet Lewis raises some frustrations will some recent results and performances. For Arsenal it was a third straight win last night after two goals scored from corners saw off Manchester United and that was despite the absence of Gabriel and Riccardo Calafiori who will remain doubts for Sunday. There's FPL discussion on Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber's appeal, if Kai Havertz's returns are a concern, Martin Odegaard's impact since his return, whether owners should sell Fulham assets Antonee Robinson and/or Raul Jimenez, who's the better pivk between Alex Iwobi and Emile Smith Rowe plus lots more... Suj and James review all the Gameweek 13 games as the pain continued for many who are still on Erling Haaland as the FPL midfield trio of Mohamed Salah, Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer scored 45 points between them. Can Haaland owners really sell now? Or does it feel like they've got to? City were beaten again at Liverpool and comfortably so, whilst Arsenal and Chelsea both won comfortably, as did Ruben Amorim's Manchester United who go to The Emirates next. All the key FPL topics covered including whether it's time to dump Bryan Mbeumo, whether West Ham can be invested in, if Alexander Isak owners will move on to Nicolas Jackson, enablers in defence and midfield are covered and there's debate about captaincy for GW14 with Palmer likely to be favoured by many against a depleted Southampton, but could he be rested!? And Suj has gone early with two moves ahead of Gameweek 14, and it may be the same two template players that James targets, with one of them a certainty for purchase. Jimbo assembles Duncan Alexander, Daniel Storey and Matt Davies-Adams onto the pod after a stunning and seismic weekend of Premier League football. Liverpool inflict a 4th successive league defeat on champions Man City at Anfield. Arne Slot’s serene start continues as the Reds go 9 points clear in the title race. Who are the most likely challengers? Is it Chelsea for whom Caicedo and Cucurella are playing sensationally? Or is it free-scoring Arsenal? And are we getting fooled into thinking Bukayo Saka will break the assist record? It’s an emphatic victory for Man United in Ruben Amorim’s first game in charge as the pressure mounts on Sean Dyche at Everton. Plus have Leicester taken too big a punt on Van Nistelrooy and could Newcastle ever challenge the title? Produced by Charlie Jones. RUNNING ORDER: • PART 1: Liverpool 2-0 Man City with James Pearce (05.00) • PART 2a: Man United 4-0 Everton (20.00) • PART 2b: Chelsea 3-0 Aston Villa (26.00) • PART 2c: Spurs 1-1 Fulham with Jay Harris (34.00) • PART 3a: West Ham 2-5 Arsenal (38.00) • PART 3b: Wolves 2-4 Bournemouth (46.00) • PART 4: The rest of the Premier League weekend (50.00) Hosted on Acast. Vicky Gomersall is joined by The Mirror's Darren Lewis and Sky Sports Reporter Gary Cotterill to reflect on the weekend’s sporting action. We start by looking at Manchester City and Liverpool, and Gary praises Arne Slot’s job at building a ‘castle’ at Liverpool. Also, are Arsenal back? Darren feels there are levels to go for Arsenal but commends the connection between Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. Next, Juliette Ferrington sits down with Arne Slot. Slot talks of nerves upon arrival at Anfield, enjoying winning, and how much the team means to people in the city of Liverpool. We consider Mohamed Salah’s contract situation; Gary makes an argument that Salah deserves an extension, mentioning a number of footballers of a similar age making a difference. Finally, Patrick Davidson's exclusive interview with Pep Guardiola, who says “now it’s time to suffer." Pep knew this difficult period would eventually come, talking of challenges with injuries, and the importance of temporary struggle to realise past feats. Sunday Supplement is a Sky Sports podcast. Kelly Cates was joined by Jamie Redknapp and Theo Walcott on Saturday Night Football and watched Arsenal travel to West Ham. The Gunners cut Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table with their 5-2 win at the London stadium. Redknapp heaped praise on Bukayo Saka, saying that ‘his level is frightening’ after the winger registered another two assists and a goal. Saka was named as player of the match and spoke to Natalie Gedra after the game, and said he takes ‘pleasure from creating and scoring but the greatest pleasure is to win’. There are also the postmatch views from both Mikel Arteta and Julen Lopetegui, who was critical of some of Anthony Taylor’s refereeing decisions. Suj and James review another dramatic weekend of Premier League football and all the important FPL discussions as several popular assets delivered the goods again with Mo Salah, Bukayo Saka, Matheus Cunha and Joao Pedro all returning well. But there will be some who struggled and the swing against for Erling Haaland owners is a tough one to take. Is it time to call it quits on FPL's highest priced player? Haaland's latest blank came in an astonishing result at The Etihad as Tottenham won 4-0, much to James' delight; and there were also comfortable victories for Arsenal and Wolves whilst Liverpool made hard work of beating Southampton and we saw Ruben Amorim's debut as Manchester United manager end in a draw at Ipswich. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard and Nottingham Forest fan Mark Sutherns to discuss the FPL assets at their clubs and the current key talking points ahead of the GW12 meeting between the clubs at The Emirates. And it's two clubs who currently sit inside the top 5 on 19 points. Forest have very much exceeded expectation so far, so is a push for European qualification now a realistic goal? While for Arsenal the gap to leaders Liverpool is already 9 points, how concerning is this or do Arsenal now have a set of fixtures that will make them believe they can close the gap? There's discussion on key attacking Arsenal assets Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz, whether double Arsenal defence is the way to go, why Jurrien Timber is likely to attract increased attention and the importance of Martin Odegaard's return. While Forest assets, it now looks tough on the fixture ticker, is talisman Chris Wood now in the sell or avoid zone despite an impressive season? Or should he and a defensive asset, with excellent defensive numbers, still be considered for investment? Suj and James discuss all the weekend GW9 games as James hit gold with Bryan Mbeumo captaincy to take on Erling Haaland who despite some very big chances only scored once against Southampton - and now with Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka and Mohamed Salah all scoring yesterday, some may be getting twitchy as to the value of the £15.4m forward. But Suj isn't pulling the plug just yet and despite some concern on social media didn't miss the deadline in a week where he also scored well. Lots of FPL assets are on radar with many enabling forwards appealing and there are concerns for some popular players like Gabriel and Dwight McNeil who may have picked up injuries. But the Podcast begins with an extended intro and the news that filtered through just after recording had concluded of Manchester United's decision to sack their manager! Suj and James have an open discussion about the 6 highest priced midfielders in FPL; Mo Salah, Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden with the aim of ascertaining which of them is desired most in the immediate upcoming fixtures and then in the longer-term from the fixture swing in Gameweek 12. There's a look at the data so far this season, the fixtures, the explosive capabilities of the players and how many is the right number to have, the danger of having only one and cutting yourself off of others and how having as many as three can allow you flexibility to move budget around. But having only two, and certainly three, would make it very difficult to hold Erling Haaland moving forward. Suj and James review all the key talking points from the Gameweek 8 weekend and for many it was an FPL weekend to forget with many popular assets blanking, but there were success stories to be found with the likes of Mo Salah, Heung-Min Son (perhaps controversially) and Ollie Watkins returning well. Son, was gambled on by a number of FPL managers just before deadline with concern surrounding Bukayo Saka, who wouldn't feature in The Gunners first defeat of the season at Bournemouth. Did those managers have inside information on Saka's absence!? James is holding on to a place just inside the top 10k, but his biggest joy of the weekend was seeing success for Tottenham in the Planet FPL Derby, which features heavily in a Gameweek Review that also covers how Chelsea impressed despite defeat at Liverpool. And it was a third blank in a row for Erling Haaland at Wolves, so surely he can't blank again with whipping boys Southampton up next. Or could he!? Deploying the triple captaincy is discussed and James has some new players on radar for transfers, which even includes one from Manchester United. Suj and James look ahead to the forthcoming four weeks before the final Interlull in 2024, a period where for many popular FPL assets the fixtures look rough, primarily because of fixtures against each other. For example Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all play each other over the next four. There's discussion on flipping assets with bad fixtures, such as Bukayo Saka for someone with a great run like Phil Foden, how often would feel comfortable to play the likes of Morgan Rogers or Antoine Semenyo over this period. James is just outside the top 5k after another storming weekend on his no Haaland strategy, but can it continue - and does James even want to continue without him - with Wolves and Southampton next for the big Norweigian!? On the Gameweek 7 Review Suj and Jaes discuss all the weekend games, which included Bukayo Saka's haul for Arsenal against Southampton, Haaland's blank against a Fulham side who will feel they merited something from The Etihad and one or two games that didn't thrill the neutral. One that thrill however was Brighton's come from behind victory against Tottenham, which dented James' good mood. There's an attempted explainer of what went wrong and the Podcast may even feature a bit of Erik Ten Hag, praise...? Plus, many FPL managers ate looking at players they may need to sacrifice to afford others, fixtures are about to get tough for many of the best teams and budget to mid price FPL forwards becomes a feature, an d the one James has his eye on most may well surprise. James is joined by Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard and Leicester City fan Aaron Lagor to discuss the latest at their clubs and their interesting FPL assets ahead of Saturday's Gameweek 6 meeting between the clubs at The Emirates. There's reaction to Arsenal's dramatic draw at Manchester City and their start to the season, the dual for the title and whether The Gunners have really been as good defensively as we all seem to think they have been? While Leicester remain winless, but have been involved in 5 close contests (losing 2) under Steve Cooper. What's the current sentiment to manager Steve Cooper and their hopes for survival in light of the Premier League's failure to make the PSR charge against The Foxes stick? And there's a detailed chat on FPL assets; with many on Wildcard what are the best three Arsenal players to invest in and it should it be double offence or defence? There's also coverage of some intriguing Leicester enablers and whether Bukayo Saka should be trusted by FPL managers with the armband this weekend? On the opener of Planet FPL Correspondent Week James is joined by Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard to discuss all things on The Gunners and their FPL assets ahead of a season where there is now more than just hope of them finishing above Manchester City and winning the title and it's not just Arsenal fans who think they can do it. But the start is tough, with trips to Villa, rivals Tottenham and Champions City all inside the first 5 so how much investment should FPL managers put into them? There's discussion on a preference between Gabriel and William Saliba, if Ben White is worth the extra, how Riccardo Calafiori and a returning Jurrien Timber may fit in and if David Raya actually offers a cheaper route into covering their defence that should be considered. Conversation on the attackers includes if Bukayo Saka is expected to start in GW1, if Martin Odegaard is worth the 1.5 saving, Kai Havertz's appeal and threats to his place as the central forward, Gabriel Martinelli's underwhelming 2023/24 and potential new incomings. Roy Keane imagines himself as a baseball and darts player, while Gary and the gang joke about the need for a rebrand since the name Gary seems to be going out of fashion. After England's nail-biting penalty shootout victory, the panel breaks down the key moments that led to progressing into the semi-final – including the standout performance of Bukayo Saka. The episode ends with a debate on Ronaldo’s future and whether it’s finally time for him to wind down his international career. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Suj and James review the weekend of Gameweek 35 and for many Wildcarders it wasn't the success that many had hoped for (so far), particularly with Arsenal's Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka returning well in Arsenal's North London Derby victory that has left James with a sore throat. And it was a strange game that features in the discussion from all the games. As usual all the games covered including Chelsea's excellent display at Villa that yielded only a point and Manchester City overcame a period of difficulty to maintain their advantage in the race for the title that also left Forest looking nervously over their shoulder at not just Luton, but now Burnley as well. FPL assets for one week, two weeks and all weeks considered which includes those required for just 36 and 38 which may bring a number of enabling differential forwards to the table that Bench Boosters won't consider. Plus, best Arsenal assets covered, injuries have inevitably struck again and James discusses the awkward feeling for Tottenham fans in Gameweek 37 when Manchester City visit. James is joined by Clayton to discuss the weekend football in the Premier League and for those who went heavy on Double Gameweek players it's not been hugely successful so far with many blanking and even those who did return may now be injured and that could include one of the few players with a Double who did really well, substitute and returning talisman Mo Salah. And so far it's disappointment for 1.3 million FPL managers who Triple Captained Erling Haaland who blanked despite having 9 shots in Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Chelsea. To and to the misery of some, popular players who may have been sacrificed for Doublers returned well including Bukayo Saka, Dominic Solanke and Ollie Watkins. James explains what prompted his decision to buy Saka back for a successful -4 despite selling only last week and Clayton is now up into the top 30,000 after another successful weekend. Suj and James review the 9 weekend games played in GW24 and for both Arsenal's 6-0 victory against West Ham meant it was a bad FPL week as Gunners assets returned well with Gabriel benched and in James' case Bukayo Saka sold! But it was of course it was Suj's team that suffered a record home league defeat. Captaining Erling Haaland at least brought some relief, but City did struggle to break down a resolute Everton. City assets are obviously on radar as are those who also double at Brentford, Liverpool and Luton and final decisions ahead of the double may well be impacted by the status of Trent Alexander-Arnold's fitness. There's tactical insight into Arsenal's stunning victory, Kieran Trippier's role change for Newcastle at Forest that freed up Bruno Guimaraes, how Brighton's man to man game at Tottenham had success but ultimately cost them the game in which a returning player from International duty hugely impressed James. On the first of two Clash of the Correspondents this week James is joined by Nottingham Forest fan Mark Sutherns and Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard to discuss the latest at their clubs, the FPL assets of interest and preview next Tuesday's meeting at The City Ground. It's been an eventful period for Forest with Steve Cooper departing and replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo and there was immediate upturn in results, but now the threat of a points deduction is very real having fallen foul of the PSR. There's discussion on what a big deduction would mean for Forest and who's to blame for the situation they have found themselves in. While for Arsenal they were back to winning ways on Saturday with a comfortable 5-0 victory against Crystal Palace, which followed 3 straight defeats. Are Arsenal still capable of clawing back their deficit to Liverpool and maintaining a title challenge? Plus, there's a detailed chat on Bukayo Saka following his blank at the weekend, if Gabriel after his haul is the obvious go-to Arsenal defensive asset on if the longer-term there should be concern and there's chat on Forest assets too include Chris Wood, Anthony Elanga and why the goalkeeper situation continues to cause concern. Today, we’re throwing it back to the start of 2023 and reliving some of our favourite Ramble moments! The final stretch of the 2022/23 season saw some “proper gubbings", including Liverpool's seven-goal demolition of Man United. The first half of 2023 of course also featured Andy losing his head at Luke during a game of Jack’s Encyclopaedia and our glorious trip to Wembley! And remember, Vish will never be a better bloke than Bukayo Saka… Make sure to join us for Part 2 on Thursday!
