It's the first big Chip strategy Podcast of the season as Suj and James layout a roadmap of what to expect during the second half of the season with blank and double gameweeks and the various options available for Chip strategies. There's discussion on a now 'probable' Double Gameweek 25 for Liverpool, what could happen to the unfulfilled fixtures featuring Manchester City and Bournemouth and an understanding of the blank and double gameweeks to come during the season. There's analysis of what weeks will be popular for Chip usage of the Bench Boost, Free Hit, Triple Captaincy and the second Wildcard and why working out when to Free Hit may be defining. Is there a current optimal strategy? Plus, why too much Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham could cause a major GW26 problem that may also be repeated in GW29; why the end of season doubles may be crap for Fantasy managers and the fallout from the weekend including Arsenal losing again, the fitness status of Jarrod Bowen and Erling Haaland and Tottenham's likely purchase of Timo Werner. On the Gameweek 20 Review Suj and James discuss all the drama from the games so far and it began with Cole Palmer hauling and ended with Mo Salah hauling after missing a 1st half penalty. Elsewhere there was disappointment for Manchester United and Arsenal in defeats at Nottingham Forest and Fulham, Tottenham were 'lucky' again and Wolves dominated Everton. On the agenda for many FPL managers will now be finding replacements for departing AFCON and Asia Cup players including Mo Salah and Heung-Min Son and the Podcast has a theme of midfield replacements under consideration throughout, but also a warning of why the final decision shouldn't need to be made just yet. It's green arrows for Suj and James on the Gameweek 19 Review but very different fortunes for their teams on a dramatic Thursday night as Brighton scored four against Tottenham at The Amex and West Ham caused a shock by winning 2-0 at Arsenal. And they weren't the only surprises this week as Chris Wood scored a stunning hat-trick in Nottingham Forest's victory at Newcastle, while Wolves were another team to score big as they scored four at Brentford and there were some surprising bonus points for offensive FPL defenders. All the games covered, including Manchester United's comeback victory against Aston Villa and Manchester City looked back to their best at Everton with Phil Foden the star of the show. And there's lots to debate ahead of tomorrow's GW20 FPL Deadline, with several great options for captaincy and some extreme benching headaches for some may lead to an activation of a number of Bench Boost chips. But there are warnings of more potential weekend rotation and notes that although GW20 may look great on paper for many FPL managers GW21 needs to be kept in mind, particularly with so many players leaving for AFCON and the Asia Cup. With only a week to go before The Overhaul Suj and James discuss all the latest talking points for Sky Fantasy Football and for many tonight feels like the last night to invest. And that means a final look at Chelsea and Manchester City players, but which offer the best investment? Is it too early to punt on Christopher Nkunku? What should managers do if Erling Haaland suddenly returns tonight or on Saturday? Plus, remaining captaincies discussed, Gameweek data learnings, listener questions and notes for after Overhaul, including which Salah and Sonny might need to wait until March and there will be some ugly single gamedays Tomorrow on Planet FPL: Clash of the Correspondents, West Ham v Brighton with Chris Stone and Sam Murray Today on Patreon: The Patreon Q'N'A and there's a Watchalong with James tonight from 7pm BST for all the Wednesday night football For the full Planet FPL schedule this week, including our offering on Patreon view this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/content-dec-24th-95233013 Want to become a member of our FPL and SkyFF community and support the Podcast? On the Gameweek 18 Review Podcast Suj and James discuss more fun with flags as several FPL managers see their teams decimated by injuries and suspensions and for many those problems are defensively, and with cash spare in many a FPL managers bank balance Trent Alexander-Arnold is now a priority for many. But it won't be for everyone... Meanwhile Dominic Solanke netted a hat-trick at Forest, managed for the first time by Nuno Espirito Santo, Liverpool and Arsenal shared the points in the top of the table and the bottom 3, written off by many, all had great results including Sheffield United, who denied Aston Villa a place at the top of the table on Friday night. While Suj and James go into Christmas celebrating home victories for their clubs; a limp Manchester United were comfortably dispatched by West Ham, for Tottenham it was a far more difficult assignment against a revitalised Everton. On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders and Everton fan Sean Norton to discuss the latest at their clubs, including each's starving for a trophy and preview Saturday's GW18 meeting at White Hart Lane. Despite the absence of several key players, some of it self inflicted by suspensions, and a spell that saw them pick up 1 point from 5, Tottenham are 6 points off top and have 6 of the next 10 at home. The couldn't... could they...? 4 wins and 4 clean sheets on the bounce for Everton have taken them 7 points clear of the drop zone and without the ten point deduction Everton would actually be ninth. They now want their points back so they can challenge for Europe! There's lots of Fantasy discussion, including Son's positioning on the left and whether he should be captained this week by FPL managers. Pedro Porro is proving popular and so now is Richarlison after 3 goals in 2, but would Dejan Kulusevski or Brennan Johnson be a better bet? Plus, Everton defensive assets will now attract interest, and do the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dwight McNeill offer a differential route to points. On The Gameweek Review Podcast, reflections on James' Wildcard and it's been some time... but Suj missed the Deadline and he's now stuck with 3 Manchester City assets heading into GW18. All the games reviewed, there were some daft red cards, Villa and Tottenham assets are likely to be particularly popular heading into GW18 and there's an assessment of the Tottenham midfield assets and the likely Villa line-up. Manchester United thwarted an under par Liverpool, Newcastle got back to winning ways and Everton made it 4 wins on the spin without conceding and there's discussion on the team who changed tactics and may have regretted it. And final points for the Gameweek aren't confirmed as yet following the collapse of Tom Lockyer - who thankfully appears to be in a stable condition - and the suspension of Bournemouth's game with Luton. Another dramatic weekend of football for FPL managers, which included an injured Erling Haaland missing out for Manchester City and bug returns for Mo Salah and Heung-Min Son. While for James, multiple problems on top of the Haaland news prompted James to pull the trigger on Wildcard on Saturday night 2 weeks earlier than planned. While for Suj, despite having the vice captaincy on Mo Salah, he still scored less than a Salah-less James. But at least he didn't say Fulham wouldn't score 5 goals against West Ham last Friday... ...oh yes he did! All the games reviewed as Villa extended their incredible winning run, Tottenham finally turned a good performance into a good resullt against a walking wounded Newcastle, Bournemouth won comfortably at Old Trafford and Chelsea were humbled at an Everton who are 3 from 3 and no goals conceded. It's more fun with flags with Alphonse Areola, Jamal Laascelles and Heung-Min Son all doubts for the weekend after last night's games that featured Suj's West Ham beating James' Tottenham in the Planet FPL derby. There's also concerns over several players who could be rotated or suspended over forthcoming Gameweeks and many in the FPL Community will be looking for a Bryan Mbeumo replacement. Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon appear the obvious choices to replace Brentford's talisman but James may have a different solution... All the GW15 games discussed which included another late Arsenal away game, a 5 star showing from Fulham and brilliant victories for Aston Villa, Manchester United and Everton. James is joined by Manchester United fan Gary Robinson and Bournemouth fan Neil Grover on Clash of the Correspondents to discuss contrasting fortunes at their clubs ahead of their midweek fixtures tonight and the GW16 meeting at Old Trafford on Saturday United were - though it didn't feel like it - the form team in the Premier League with 5 wins from 6, but following Saturday's woeful display at Newcastle it feels like United in crisis again with several questioning whether the players want to play for Erik Ten Hag. Is the situation recoverable for the manager? And it feels like we've seen it all before... so are the players the problem? While at Bournemouth, everything is beginning to look brighter for Andoni Iraola after three promising displays that have yielded 7 points and suddenly they are looking upwards from a position that had seen them pick up only 3 points from their first 9 games. There's discussion on FPL assets and remarkably it is Bournemouth players who may appeal more with some attractive fixtures across GWs 17-19 and there are 5 players who Fantasy managers may want to consider to solve potential problems. Plus, why are Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford currently of minimal interest and do defensive United assets that are owned need binning following Saturday's game... in which Bournemouth will feel they can get something. Clayton stands in for an unwell Suj to join James for a bumper review of the Gameweek 14 football where Heung-Min Son and a doubtful Ollie Watkins punished sellers by bagging a goal and assist. All the games reviewed, including James' trip to The Etihad for the thrilling 3-3 draw at Manchester City, while Clayton gives insight from The Emirates on Arsenal's victory against Wolves, there's concern for Nottingham Forest and some very different concerns for Manchester United after both lost 1-0. Sheffield United look set to sack Paul Heckingbottom and Liverpool left it late the beat Fulham 4-3. It always seemed likely to be a tough weekend for Fantasy managers with many faced with conflicting issues and that has proved to be the case for many, including Suj and James, who reflect on their underwhelming weekends during the Gamewwek 13 Review. All the games discussed including another mad Tottenham game that ended in defeat to Villa side that's up to 4th, West Ham won it late, as did Arsenal who went top following the City-Liverpool draw, while Chelsea lost heavily at Newcastle, it was a great weekend for Luton and Alejandro Garnacho scored one of 'the' great Premier League goals at Goodison Park. FPL thinking discussed, including why Jarrod Bowen's fitness will determine what many will do, there's a number of misfield enablers suddenly putting their hand up for consideration, prospects for going double defence - including Arsenal, GW14 captaincy, Matt(y) Cash concerns, Reece James, why those who are planning to Wildcard in GW19 may have just been given a gift by the injury Gods... On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Fulham fan Dara Curran and Wolves fan Bradley Parker to discuss all the latest at their clubs and why Fantasy Managers should give both clubs a second look ahead of the Monday Night Football at Craven Cottage. Meanwhile it's only 1 defeat in 7 for Wolves and the mood has changed for the positive under Gary O'Neil. What can be achieved this season? Plus, discussion on FPL assets and why the need for cover in this week and gameweeks 15, 16 & 18 means both clubs should be worth a second look, particularly defensively. There's talk on FPL players who could break the template, how to deal with the bad Gameweek, football fandom, VAR, Tottenham's title chances (James edit: yes this would now be no chance!), Jarrod Bowen's quality, concerns for Fulham, England's Euro 2024 chances Thank you to everyone who supported and helped with Monday's event and thank you to everyone in the audience who contributed a question. Last night at The Thirsty Bear Pub in Central London Suj and James welcomed an audience of Fantasy Football managers for the Gameweek Review and it was a Gameweek that will live long in the memory for being one of the lowest scoring weeks in memory for engaged managers with Erling Haaland off at half time against Bournemouth with a 1 point return and Mo Salah fared only 1 point better at Luton! All the games reviewed, which included Bruno Fernandes winning it late for Manchester United at Fulham, the controversy surrounding Newcastle's win against Arsenal, Brentford's topsy turvy victory against West Ham that was ultimately deserved in the end, Jeremy Doku's massive haul and the disappointing Aston Villa and Liverpool. And what next? Should Haaland owners sell? Injury concerns covered, transfer ideas pondered and GW12 captaincy discussed. Thank you to everyone who supported and helped with yesterday's event! Suj returns from holiday to join James for the Sky Fantasy Football Podcast after a weekend that saw some huge scores which included James landing in the top 1k and there is a feeling that a true template is forming as we approach winter... but you can't have them all... Arsenal look the best captaincy now for 4 of their next 6 fixtures, coverage looks required, but selling Tottenham may be the only way to go there. There's also clear entry points for a number of teams this Sunday which may include movements back to the likes of Lewis Dunk and Rodri and investment into differentials Jarrod Bowen and Konstantinos Tsimikas who may not be differentials for long. Plus, captaincy for the weekend, planned moves, why this might be the last week of aggressive moves for a while, Twitter questions and more... TICKETS FOR THE PLANET FPL LIVE SHOW OUR NOW ON SALE! James is joined by Clayton for a review of the Gameweek 9 weekend that featured Liverpool winning the Merseyside Derby, Manchester City getting back to winning ways, Arsenal escaped from Stamford Bridge with a draw despite a sub par performance, Aston Villa made it eleven home league wins in a row with a 4-1 win against West Ham and the pressure is mounting on Bournemouth and Burnley after disappointing defeats. Many FPL managers will be Wildcarding and there's a Fab 5 to target with Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brighton, Liverpool and West Ham all coming into good fixtures, but are Brighton being overlooked having only picked up 1 point in the last 3...? There's discussion on the weekend's key talking points, the GW10 captaincy looks wide open with Erling Haaland having the Manchester Derby; is Mo Salah the clear frontrunner for the armband? Suj and James review all the weekend GW8 games which included Mo Salah rewarding the FPL managers who were brave enough to captain him ahead of the likes of blanking Erling Haaland and Heung-Min Son. Arsenal beat City in a cagey Super Sunday with a late deflected Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka finally missed out, but it's North London rivals Tottenham who went top with victory at Luton despite Yves Bissouma's red card. Can James's team challenge for the title!? Chelsea may also be coming good and despite Raheem Sterling's haul it's another Blues player who has caught the attention of FPL managers. There's discussion on Marvellous Nakamaba and Jordan Beyer following varying fortunes in last night's Luton and Burnley game and to get to Beyer James made a perhaps surprising sacrifice. Suj and James review all the football so far in Gameweek 7 which featured huge controversy, particularly at White Hart Lane with Luis Diaz having a goal disallowed which was clearly onside. James sets a 10 minute timer to explain anger at what was arguably the worst piece of refereeing in Premier League history, despite the fact victory took Tottenham up to second. The rant is followed by discussion on all the games including Villa's mauling of Brighton as Ollie Watkins scored a monster 23 points to take him top of the FPL points scoring chart ahead of Erling Haaland who blanked as Manchester City were beaten at Wolves. Plus, all the FPL assets of interest discussed as West Ham and Jarrod Bowen come into our thinking, there's injury updates, tactical thoughts and whether Heung-Min Son is deserving of the Gameweek 8 armband... Suj and James assess all the games played in a dramatic Gameweek 3 that included late wins for Manchester City and Liverpool on Sunday, Arsenal dropping points at home to Fulham and West Ham briefing going top after a stunning victory at Brighton. FPL mid priced midfielders appear to be top of the agenda for many managers with several showcasing their talent as again at the weekend including James Maddison and Raheem Sterling who hauled against Luton on Friday night. Sterling was not the only player who hauled from Chelsea as 4.0 (now 4.1) Malo Gusto went big in the same fixture and fellow right-back Matty Cash scored twice for Aston Villa at Turf Moor. James is joined by Chelsea fan Gary Mantle and Luton Town fan Dan Ashby to discuss the latest at their clubs, the all important FPL assets at them and preview Friday's night's GW3 opener at Stamford Bridge. It's only 1 point from the first two for Mauricio Pochettino's Blues. Is there cause for concern ahead of the incredible upcoming fixture run or is there reason for optimism despite the slow start? Are The Hatters likely to try and frustrate on Friday or can they view the game as a free hit with their own brilliant fixture run set to start in GW4? Plus, all the important FPL assets covered, especially from The Blues where several assets appeal and there's a couple of Luton players that should remain in Fantasy managers thinking too... Suj and James review the 8 games played so far in GW2 and focus turns towards GW3 with an amazing set of fixtures coming up this week for the majority of popular clubs and that includes a Chelsea side who were beaten at West Ham but will be the subject of big attention ahead of home games against Luton and Nottingham Forest. What now for those who own Liverpool assets? They beat Bournemouth and Mo Salah captainers can claim weekend victory but it's Newcastle and Aston Villa next. Is it time to move Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold on? James is full of joy after Tottenham's victory against Manchester United. Should United assets be moved on for Tottenham players? Plus, Brighton got four again, as did Aston Villa against a limp Everton, Brentford won handsomely at Fulham, we got some surprise penalty takers, dodgy refereeing decisions (obviously) and Phil Foden is now very much on radar.... but so are plenty of others... and you can't have them all Tomorrow on Planet FPL: Clash of the Correspondents - Chelsea Vs Luton Town with Gary Mantle and Dan Ashby Today on Patreon: The Patreon Q'N'A For the full Planet FPL Schedule this week view this post: https://www.patreon.com/planetfpl Want to become a member of our FPL and SkyFF community and support the Podcast?
